It was tiring, but he enjoyed it.
One thing I learnt today: Farming isn’t easy! It made me think of the saying: “Every grain comes from hard work.”The farmer let us take some vegetables home. My mum cooked some for dinner, and they were fresh and delicious! They certainly taste better when you work for them! Today was really a day to remember.
Do you agree that food tastes better when you work for them? Why? Give an example.
Yes, I agree. Because hard work connects you with the food, and that makes you enjoy it more. For example, you enjoy eating the dish when you cook it yourself, even if it tastes flat.

How the farmer felt
Sample: Friday30, May
Today, a group of students visited my farm. When they arrived, I showed them around and let them explore the farm. The students seemed excited partly because they seldom went to the countryside and saw these large vegetable tents. I explained to them that the vegetable tents are like greenhouse for plants. They can protect the vegetables from bad weather. I also introduced how the vegetables go from the fields to people’s dining tables. It took lots of hard work and time. The children were quite interested as they usually only see vegetables on the shelves of supermarkets.
Then I invited the students to get straight down to work in the field. They went to the strawberry fields and pick strawberries. This work looks easy, but once you try it, it takes great care to do it well. In the afternoon, I taught the students to cut branches and leaves for tomato plants. Cutting is necessary because it can help the plants get more sunlight and fresh air to produce better fruits. The students also watered the plants. It was tiring work, but the children seemed quite enjoy it! I think this hands-on experience can help them have practical life skills and gain a better knowledge about farming.
Upon leaving, I gave the children some fresh vegetables and fruit. They were very thankful and said they would come again. The students’ visit brings life to my farm, and I enjoyed being their outdoor teacher in the fields. As the saying goes, “Every grain comes from hard work.” I hope when they get home, they would cherish the food on their plates and respect farmers’ hard work.
