They started the project, and set up collection centres across 1594 cities around Japan. Since April 2017, Japanese people, companies and international athletes had been encouraged to send old phones, broken cameras and computers to the centres. The collection activity came to an end in March 2019.
The project provided a new way for the world to solve the e-waste problem. Humans have a lot of e-waste every year. We must come up with some ideas to reuse materials.

根据“Where is Tom?可知汤姆不在现场,第一空表示“去了某地未回”,应用has gone;根据“for an hour”可知第二空需用延续性动词,has gone是瞬间动词,has been表示状态可延续,且there为副词,前面不加介词in。

It’s hard to say. I don’t think so. It couldn’t be better. That’s not the case. 根据答语后半部分“I think it isn't about where you study—it’s about how you study.”

根据“He always speaks too directly and never cares about others’ feelings”可知,他说话直接不顾感受,推断他“几乎没有”朋友。

Tyrone is thinking about joining the new chess club at school. He tells his best friend Malik while they watch a football game. “What?” Malik laughs. “That’s a big mistake! Chess clubs are not cool at all!”
For a moment, Tyrone doesn’t say anything. Then he remembers his mother’s words, “Chess is about thinking ahead and making good moves. That’s just right for you.” So he decides to join the club anyway.
The next week at their lockers, Malik asks, “Got time for a movie?” Tyrone answers. “I just joined the chess club. I’m going to the first meeting now.” Malik starts shouting, “People are going to laugh at you!” Tyrone shouts back, “That’s not right! It’s okay for you to join the basketball team. And it’s okay for me to find something I like.” Malik finally turns, then walks away.
As he leaves, Tyrone can’t stop worrying. What if he loses Malik over this? Maybe this is the end of their relationship.
After that, the two friends hardly see each other. Tyrone loves the chess club. His team works hard and even wins a big competition in New York. Back at school, everyone treats him like a star. They come to watch him play chess and ask to take photos with him.
One day at the lockers, Malik reaches out and shakes his friend’s hand. “Congratulations on the chess win. That’s pretty cool,” he says with a smile. “I’m sorry about all the bad things I said about the club. You don’t have to play sports to be a winner.”
Tyrone smiles back, feeling sudden warmth. “So, do you think you can find any time to go bike riding with me this weekend?” Malik asks. “Sure,” Tyrone replies happily. “I always have time for my best friend.”
As they walk to the bus together, Tyrone knows joining the chess club is a good move.

Have you ever heard of upcycling? It is a creative way to turn waste materials into new products of higher value. Different from recycling, which often breaks things down, upcycling gives old items a new life without using extra energy.
Every day, people throw away lots of things, such as old clothes, bottles and furniture. These may end up in landfills (垃圾填埋场) and pollute the environment. Upcycling helps reduce waste. For example, an old tyre can become a beautiful swing; unwanted jeans can be turned into fashionable bags. Some artists even create wonderful sculptures from used metal parts. More and more communities now offer upcycling workshops to teach people useful skills.
Upcycling is not only good for the planet, but also fun and rewarding. It encourages creativity and makes us think about how we use things. Next time before you throw something away, ask yourself: Can I turn it into something new?
57. What does upcycling mean?
A. Collecting waste for money. B. Throwing away old things.
C. Breaking waste into small pieces. D. Turning waste into valuable products.

Tyrone smiles back, feeling sudden warmth. “So, do you think you can find any time to go bike riding with me this weekend?” Malik asks. “Sure,” Tyrone replies happily. “I always have time for my best friend.”

Protecting endangered animals is not just a job for scientists—it’s a responsibility everyone can take on. Here are some practical ways to help.
First, learn about endangered animals. You can read books, watch wildlife documentaries, or visit official websites to understand their living habits and the threats they face. The more you know, the better you can help.
Second, support wildlife conservation organizations. You can donate money, volunteer your time for community activities, or even adopt an animal symbolically. Many organizations focus on protecting habitats and stopping illegal hunting.
Third, reduce your environmental impact. Recycle waste, save water and energy, and avoid buying products that harm animals, such as ivory, fur, or shark fins. Small daily changes can make a big difference.
Fourth, speak up for endangered animals. Tell your friends and family about the importance of wildlife protection. You can also write to local governments to ask for stricter laws against animal hunting.
Remember, every animal plays a key role in the ecosystem. Protecting endangered animals means protecting our planet and ourselves.
