1. — Do you have a good time in Gaoyou, Sam?
— I feel very much at home, ________ it’s my first time here.
A. because B. although C. since D. until
because因为;although虽然;since自从;until直到。根据“I feel very much at home”以及“it’s my first time here”可知,前后句意存在转折关系,表示“虽然”是第一次来,但感觉很自在。应填although。
2. —Must I donate my old books to the charity today?
—No, you ________. You can bring them to the library tomorrow.
A. can’t B. mustn’t C. shouldn’t D. don’t have to
can’t不能;mustn’t禁止;shouldn’t不应该;don’t have to不必。根据“No”及后句“You can bring them to the library tomorrow.”可知,此处表示没有必要今天捐,是对Must引导的一般疑问句的否定回答,应用don’t have to或needn’t,所以选D。
3. It’s impolite to speak ________ in public. Please keep our voices down!
A. happily B. slowly C. loudly D. clearly
根据后句“Please keep our voices down!”
4. As a ________ of Gaoyou, I feel proud to see our city becoming cleaner.
A. guest B. citizen C. tourist D. pioneer
5. If you do what you ________, we will trust you more.
A. promise B. refuse C. expect D. realize
【答案】A
所以选A。
6. If we keep wasting water, it will ________ one day.
A. run out B. check out C. hand out D. dry out
【答案】A
run out用完,耗尽;check out结账离开;核实;hand out分发;dry out(使)变干、干透。句中“If we keep wasting water, it will...”,前半句提到继续浪费水资源,逻辑上推测后半句意为水总有一天会“用完”。应填run out。

A. too shy B. too brave C. brave enough D. shy enough

too shy太害羞;too brave太勇敢;brave enough足够勇敢;shy enough足够害羞。too...to... 而不能……”,形容词+enough+to do sth表示“足够……去做某事”。句中“face problems and never gives up”,提示此处表示鲍勃勇敢直面问题,只有C项符合语义逻辑。
8. As a major transportation hub, Gaoyou High-speed Railway Station ________ since 2020.
A. opened B. has opened C. has been open D. opens
opened过去式;has opened现在完成时;has been open现在完成时;opens一般现在时。
9. A free medical check-up ________ for the elderly in our community once a year.
A. hold B. held C. was held D. is held
10. —I think reading the summary is enough for an English novel.
—________, but I prefer to read the whole story and enjoy the language.
A. That’s right B. I see your point
C. Good idea D. I can’t agree more

That’s right没错;I see your point我明白你的意思;Good idea好主意;I can’t agree more我完全同意。 应填I see your point。

Nowadays, a new and exciting trend (潮流) known as “color walks” is taking off in Guiyang. It is inviting city people to slow down and get close to nature. Instead of rushing from one tourist spot to another, people just choose one color—like energetic red, fresh green, or warm yellow—and follow it through parks, riversides, and busy streets. This simple walk helps people notice small details they often miss: the special shape of a flower, the sunlight on leaves, or the cheerful sound of birds.
When you look for pink cherry blossoms or purple wisteria, you start to focus on the present moment. You notice how flowers change every day, how the fresh air smells, and how the colors mix with the blue sky. The walk becomes slow and relaxing. Instead of checking your phone or thinking about stressful work, you follow the color like a map. In the gardens or the modern art museum, children stop to count tulip petals (花瓣), and adults sit and watch bees fly from one bloom to another. This kind of attention makes people feel calm and closer to the world.
According to recent news reports, this trend has become very popular online, with videos getting millions of views. Experts say that “color walks” are a great way to reduce worries and help our brains take a healthy break. Color walks remind us that a city is more than just tall buildings and stone roads. It is also full of living, changing nature. Step by step, we find a peaceful rhythm. “After this walk, my mind feels clear. Even the small flowers by the road seem so precious (珍贵) to me,” says a visitor.
So next spring, pick your favorite color, go outside, and let the colors guide you to a slower, richer life.
38. What do people do during a “color walk”?
A. They count how many colors they can see.
B. They walk quickly from one place to another.
C. They take photos or videos of flowers in the park.
D. They choose one color and follow it through nature.
39. How does the writer introduce “color walks” in paragraph 2?
A. By listing numbers. B. By giving examples.
C. By making a survey. D. By asking a question.
40. How do people feel after a color walk?
A. Surprised at the idea of the walk.
B. Worried about the changes of the city.
C. Pleased with small things in life.
D. Tired of the long city trip.
41. What is the main purpose of the passage?
A. To explain why people should get close to nature.

D. To show how a simple activity helps us find peace in city life.

Could your brain live forever inside a machine? This cool idea is known as mind uploading. It means copying your brain and putting it into a computer. There you would live digitally, maybe forever. You would still have your memories and feel like yourself, but you wouldn’t have a real body. In that computer world, you could do everything you do in real life, like eating, or playing sports. You could also do impossible things in the real world, such as flying like a bird or walking through walls.
Mind uploading should be possible. But the brain is the most complex (复杂的) object in the universe. ▲ Your computer brain would still need to feel things—like seeing, hearing, smelling or even feeling pain. Without these, people would have serious mental health problems. That’s why the computer copy of your senses must be highly accurate (精确).
The first task for a successful mind upload is to map the whole brain. So far, scientists have only mapped the brain of a fly and small parts of a mouse brain. A full map of the human brain may be possible in a few tens of years.
Another task is to understand how the brain works. If scientists fully get it, they may only need to copy the most important parts of the brain. That would be much easier. But they still need to find out how the brain creates thoughts. However, they are very far from that.
Although there are lots of challenges (挑战), technology is improving faster and faster. Some people believe mind uploading could happen by 2045, while others predict it towards the end of this century. A brain scientist said, “I expect mind uploading to come true in the next 100 years.” This means that the first person to live forever could be born soon.

根据第三段“So far, scientists have only mapped the brain of a fly...”可知尚未绘制完人脑图谱,排除选项D;根据第四段“However, they are very far from that.”
根据最后一段“technology is improving faster and faster”、“come true in the next 100 years”以及“the first person to live forever could be born soon”等表述可知,尽管存在挑战,但作者引用科学家的预测,对“思维上传”的未来持积极、自信的态度(Confident)。

不定冠词“a”后接单数名词;结合“His mother brought him to local shelters...”

此处用过去分词,与“have”构成现在完成时;上文“he set up an organization to transport dogs from Texas to northern states”提及罗曼的组织把狗送到北部去,让狗免受伤害,是拯救了狗,首字母s对应过去分词saved“拯救”或sent“发送”。

________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________
Possible Version 1: (Reading)
How I Grow up
Everyone has their own way to grow up. As for me, I believe reading is the key to my growth.
I like reading because I can learn from other people’s lives. Last summer, I read the famous novel The Old Man and the Sea. The story was so touching that I couldn’t put it down after turning the first page. The old fisherman fought bravely against big challenges and never gave up, even when he got nothing at last.
From this reading experience, I learned that we should stay strong when facing tough problems. Reading not only opens my eyes but also shapes my mind, lighting up my way of growing up.
Possible Version 2: (Practicing)
How I Grow up
Everyone has their own way to grow up. As for me, I believe practicing is the key to my growth.
I think practice brings true knowledge that we can never get from books only. Last term, I joined a volunteer club to help clean up the city park. At first, I thought picking up rubbish and pulling weeds was boring and tiring, but when I saw the bright, clean park, I felt really proud. I also learned how to work well with others as a team.
This experience taught me that doing is better than just talking. Through practice, I became more responsible and confident. It helps me understand the world better and makes me grow up happily.

Xinjiang is a vast and beautiful area in China, known for its amazing landscapes and rich cultural heritage. It is a place where you can enjoy tasty food, see beautiful clothes, and have exciting outdoor fun.
In Xinjiang, food is a delicious adventure. One popular dish is samsa. This kind of pie filled with mutton, onions or carrots is covered with thin pastry (面皮) and baked (烤) until brown. Another favourite is nang, a special bread in Uyghur culture. It can be round or long, thick or thin. People bake it in ovens outside their houses. In Kuqa City, you can find the famous “metre kebab”. It is made with lamb on very long sticks, which are more than one metre long. These kebabs are eaten as street food or given to guests as a special dish.
The local culture is very lively, especially through traditional clothing. Uyghur men often wear a shirt, a coat, and a sash, while women’s outfits are more colourful, featuring blouses, coats, and skirts. Young women prefer bright red, green and yellow, while elder women typically choose black, blue and dark green. On special days, the Uyghur people also wear a special hat called a doppa. Hatmakers select high-quality cloth and sew with colourful or golden thread to show its beauty.
Beyond food and fashion, Xinjiang is an ideal place for outdoor adventure lovers. It is a great place for skiing because it has plenty of soft snow from mountain ranges like the Tianshan and Altay Mountains. In each snow season, about three million people visit Xinjiang to ski.

42. Which of the following shows the correct structure of the passage? (① = paragraph 1, ② = paragraph 2, …)
A. ① ② | ③ ④ | ⑤
B. ① | ② | ③ ④ | ⑤
C. ① ② | ③ | ④ ⑤
D. ① | ② | ③ | ④ ⑤
43. Which of the following can be put in the ▲ in paragraph 2?
A. Scientists have already solved the problem.
B. People will soon live inside computers forever.
C. It will be difficult to make an exact copy of the brain.
D. Computers are much faster than human brains at thinking.
44. What can we infer from paragraphs 3 and 4?
A. Mind uploading is a successful technology.
B. Copying the whole brain is much easier now.
C. It’s still a secret how the brain creates thoughts.
D. Scientists have mapped the whole human brain.
45. What is the writer’s attitude (态度) towards the future of mind uploading?
A. Curious. B. Worried. C. Doubtful. D. Confident.
