A great scientific discovery (发现) amazed the world. Chinese scientists have already found a new way to produce water on the moon, which could change how we think about living on the moon in the future! Their discovery shows that by using lunar soil (土壤), scientists can get a lot of water on the moon.
In the past, the study on the moon showed that there might be ice at the moon’s north and south poles (极). However, there wasn’t much water in moon rocks—only a little bit, like 0.0001% to 0.02%, which made it hard to find and use water there. So it was very difficult for people to live on the moon.
The scientists, however, found something exciting, after studying the rocks and soil from the moon brought back by the Chang’e-5 spacecraft. One of the exciting things they discovered is that lunar soil melts (熔化) when the temperature (温度) rises above 1,000 ℃. When it begins to melt, it gives off water vapor (蒸气). They learned that just 100 g of lunar soil can produce 5.1 g to 7.6 g of water. So, if we had one ton of lunar soil, we could get between 51 kg and 76 kg of water. That’s enough for 50 people to drink for one day!
All in all, this study reveals new hope for finding water on the moon. It’s important for future trips to the moon and people who might live there some day. As we learn more about how to get water from lunar soil, we get closer to the dream of human living on the moon!
28. What may the discovery change according to Paragraph 1?
A. The purpose of living on the moon. B. The way to find more on moon rocks.

A. There was no ice on the moon at all. B. There was no water at the moon’s poles.
C. There was very little water in moon rocks. D. There was too much water vapor in the air.
30. What may the underlined word “reveal” mean in the last paragraph?
A. Hides. B. Shows. C. Allows. D. Loses.
31. What is the best title for the passage?
A. The dream of living on the moon. B. The reason of moving to the moon.
C. The new discovery of water on the moon. D. The journey of the Chang’e-5 Spacecraft.
C 29. C 30. B 31. C

“Did the fairies bring the supper?” asked Amy.
“No! Santa Claus brought it,” said Beth.

“Hannah told one of his servants (仆人) the story of the Hummels. Mr Laurence was sorry to hear about your poor Christmas breakfast so he decided to give you a surprise.”
“My mother says he’s very proud,” said one of the girls at the table. “She says that he doesn’t like mixing with his neighbors. His grandson has to stay in the house and study all day. We invited him to a party once, but he didn’t come. He’s very shy.”

根据原文第三段“The sisters often performed plays for their friends and they were very good at making costumes and props.”
根据文章结尾“‘I’m going to talk to him one day,’ said Jo.‘He needs to have some fun. I’m going to invite him to our next play!’”,乔明确表示要邀请劳伦斯先生的孙子观看下一场戏剧,可推断下文会讲述乔如何发出邀请。

空格后一句由“And”连接,提到“they use a small knife to cut out beautiful patterns...(他们用小刀一点点刻出美丽的图案……)”。 A“Artists watch the natural vein lines closely.”

前文提到“When carving is finished, workers polish the leaf and press it flat.” D项“Finally, a common fallen leaf turns into a wonderful art piece.”
最后一段“Leaf carving tells us that small and common fallen leaves can become special and beautiful.”讲叶雕的意义,C项“We just need creative ideas and love for nature.”

Fire extinguishers are important safety devices (设备) in schools, homes, and public buildings. Knowing how to use them correctly can help stop small fires from becoming dangerous.

On May 14, 2026, the President of the United States paid a visit to China. Fox News anchor(福克斯新闻主播) Bill Hemmer joined the US presidential press group and paid a return visit to Beijing. Thirty years ago, it was his first time to come to China. When he came to China this time, he was deeply amazed by the great changes taking place across the country.
He remembered that Beijing had a different look thirty years ago. There were lots of bicycles on the streets and crowded(拥挤的) buses were the main ways for people to go to other places at that time. And it was hard to see tall buildings, and people here had a slow lifestyle. People bought daily things with cash.

New energy cars are very common across the city, with charging stations easy to find in public areas. What’s more, smart services and mobile payment have already become an important and necessary part of local people’s everyday life.
When Hemmer faced those many changes in China, he said from the bottom of his heart that China’s development (发展) is much faster than he thought, a view widely shared by many other reporters.

C. People’s ideas about living on the moon. D. The weight of ice at the moon’s two poles.
29. Why was it hard to find and use water on the moon in the past?
