空后为名词短语a strong feeling,固定搭配such+a/an +形容词+可数名词单数,so 后接形容词/副词,因此用such。

句中时间状语for ten years表示动作从过去持续到现在,需用现在完成时have/has done,主语为I,用have lived。
固定短语give up,表示“放弃”,此处表示年轻人坚持帮助他人,应用up;give in“屈服”、give away“赠送/泄露”,give out“分发/耗尽”,均不符合语境。

11. A 12. C 13. B 14. B 15. D 16. B 17. D 18. A 19. C 20. D
根据“money raised will go to help”,可知筹款是为了让手术能进行。
As“当……时”、Since“自从”、During“在……
A
Artificial intelligence (AI) is quickly becoming part of our everyday life. We wonder, “Should people be polite to AI? Should we say ‘please’ and ‘thank you’ to them?” Here’s what three students want to say about it.
Aubrey Lamirault, 15
Los Angeles, California
People should be polite to AI. Being polite isn’t just about being well-mannered. It can also lead to better results. AI systems learn from interacting (互动) with people. I’ve read that using polite language can lead to better information with fewer mistakes. Kindness goes a long way!
Ethan Yu, 16
Queens, New York
AI lets people be more efficient. But does AI really need to see the words “please” or “thank you” to give a response? No. I don’t think so. It doesn’t have feelings. It’s just a tool, like a computer. Do you say “thank you” to your computer after you use it? Sometimes, being less polite means being more honest and saying exactly what you mean. Too many polite words may make it difficult for AI to understand.
Hanming Wang, 16
Shenzhen, China
I think we should be polite to AI, just like we are to other people. Our world needs more kindness, and when we practice it, whether toward people or technology, kindness can spread. Being kind, even to AI, helps to develop good habits. Some think that there’s no need to be polite to AI since it doesn’t have feelings. But being polite to AI can help us become more thoughtful people. It’s a small choice, but it can bring about great changes.
21. What can polite language bring to AI answers according to Aubrey?
A. Slower speed. B. Fewer mistakes.
C. More feelings. D. Less information.
22. How does Ethan Yu support his ideas?
A. By presenting numbers. B. By asking questions on AI.
C. By showing polite words. D. By taking computers as an example.
23. What is the passage mainly about?
A. How AI works better. B. What AI can do for us.
C. Whether to be polite to AI. D. How to be polite to AI.
B 22. D 23. C

46. Many kind people support different charities in Nanjing.
Different charities in Nanjing ________ ________ by many kind people.
【答案】 ①. are ②. supported
47. The charity shops opened many years ago. (用for many years改写句子)
The charity shops have ________ ________ for many years.
【答案】 ①. been ②. open
for many years是现在完成时标志,短暂性动词open需转换为延续性状态be open;现在完成时结构为have/has + 过去分词,be的过去分词是been。
48. Many people don’t know what they can do to help those in need.
Many people don’t know ________ ________ do to help those in need.
【答案】 ①. what ②. to

49. Ann is helpful because she often takes part in charity activities.
It is ________ ________ Ann to take part in charity activities.
【答案】 ①. helpful ②. of
原句中“Ann is helpful because she often takes part in…”可以与“It is helpful of Ann to take part in…” 本题是固定句型“It is + 形容词 + of/for sb. to do sth.”,表示“某人做某事是……
50. She is so tired that she can’t finish all her work in time.
She is ________ tired ________ finish all her work in time.
【答案】 ①. too ②. to
so...that...(如此…… 可以用too...to...(太…… 来替换,因此填too;to。

My friends in Nanjing are kind enough to make me ________.
【答案】feel at home
【详解】原句中“感到宾至如归”是关键词,固定短语feel at home意为“感到宾至如归”;本句使用make sb. do sth.(使某人做某事)结构,make后接不带to的动词原形,因此此处填feel at home。
From famous buildings and bridges to museums and theatres to malls and restaurants, ________ that Nanjing has a bit of everything.
there is no doubt
故填there is no doubt。
It seemed to these athletes that the most important thing was not to win a medal, gold or silver, ________ the competition.
but to take part in
是并列连词词组not ... but ...;“参与(比赛)”常用短语take part in;句中was后面前半部分是not to win(动词不定式),为了保持语法结构平行,but后面也应接动词to do不定式。
These types of energy produce little pollution and will ________.
never run out
Nanjing ________ from its historical places, attracting many tourists to visit every year.
benefits greatly

Is there a way to quickly recall (回忆) information just before taking an exam? Walking backward might help you. Scientists from the University of Roehampton in the UK said this activity can help people improve their short-term memory.
Researchers asked 114 volunteers to watch a video. After watching the video, the volunteers were divided into three groups. One group was told to walk 10 meters forward. The second group walked 10 meters backward. The third group stood in one place. All three groups were then asked 20 questions about what they saw in the video.
The scientists found that the backward-walking group got two more answers correct on average (平均) than the other two groups.
This suggests that the link (联系) between the concepts (概念) of time and space plays a key role in terms of how our minds form memories. “Time is really expressed through space,” Aleksandar Aksentijevic, who led the study, told the Daily Mail. When you walk backward, you see things from a different angle (角度). This difference helps people recall things that happened in the past.
And walking backward is also good for the rest of our body. Compared to walking forward, walking backward is more challenging. This can help us improve our fitness, according to New Scientist. Walking backward uses more energy in a short time and burns more calories.
In addition, walking backward is less stressful (有压力的) for our knees. It could be helpful for people who often have pain in their knees, according to researchers from the University of Oregon in the US. Walking backward also keeps our spines (脊柱) strong, which can help to ease pain in the lower back. This might be why many old people like walking backward.
