I had never been out of the country before, so I was very excited. My aunt, my father and I went around with my father showing us all the unbelievable sites in Paris. None of us spoke much French but we loved the city. We had taken the subway all over the city and were congratulating ourselves on our mastering what is honestly an excellent subway design that is pretty easy to follow. We decided to visit Versailles by train. We chatted happily along the way until my father realized we were far into the French countryside and no one around spoke English. We reached the end of the line and felt afraid when everyone finally left the train. An old man and his grandchild noticed us and came to help. He spoke no English, so in broken French we tried to explain. When he finally understood, this great man settled his grandson and showed us to the correct train and then boarded with us. Later we knew the truth that there was a train transfer (转乘) and he didn’t want us to miss it. This kind man rode a train for an hour and a half out of his way to make sure that three Americans got where they wanted to be. He refused to let us pay for his ticket. He did it all with a gentle smile and patted our hands gently at the stop. Then in his quiet way, he boarded the train to return the way he had come. What impressed me most was the man and his kindness during the amazing trip. Some Americans think the French are rude for some reason, but I always try to persuade them to change their minds with this very story. 24. What happened to the author and his family on the train? A. Travelling enriches one’s life. D. Helping others brings great pleasure. 27. What’s the purpose of the author’s writing the text? A. To explain an unexpected problem. B. Zhou Chengyu was in charge of the rocket connector system--described as a vital role. Social media users have been celebrating her brilliance and referring to her as pride of the country. Her story in particular has drawn the public’s attention given her young age. Being the youngest of the team, Zhou Chengyu was born in 1996 in the province of Guizhou. She is certainly not “old” enough compared with her colleagues, but she is known at work as "Big Sister” as a sign of respect. Once in a 3-km running contest, she actually beat half of her male counterparts. Although work shifts are not uncommon at the Wenchang Spacecraft Launch Site, each shift requires huge courage because of the different background knowledge. However, for Zhou Chengyu, she experienced multiple (多种的) positions in 5 launching tests and now she is the youngest commander at the site. Despite carefulness and high responsibility at work, she is just like her peers in normal life. Eating snacks and shopping are her favorite free-time activities. Her high school teacher remembers her as tough and determined. “She always had a dream of becoming scientist,” said her physics teacher. According to her colleague, Zhou Chengyu was very surprised when she found out she went viral online. She said that she was happy when she saw people online regarding her as the pride of the country, and yet she kept saying that she was “nobody but normal worker at a launch site” and there are a lot more people just like her going unnoticed while doing the hardest job to guarantee a better future for the Chinese space program. She also said that she wished to remain her current status (现状) and continue doing her work with or without the popularity. 28. What makes Zhou Chengyu the pride of the country? A. Her young age. B. Her great courage. C. Her vital role in her work. D. Her responsibility at work. 29. Which of the following words can best describe Zhou Chengyu? A. Learned and anxious. B. Respectable and generous. C. Patient and responsible. D. Modest and determined. 30. Which of the following can replace the underlined words in paragraph 5? A. took pride B. made a contribution C. became very popular D. made an achievement 31. What can be the best title for the text? A. A Young Pride B. A Successful Colleague C. An Extraordinary Dream D. An Outgoing Commander 【答案】28. C 29. D 30. C 31. A 【解析】 【导语】这是一篇记叙文。主要讲述了中国最年轻的火箭连接系统指挥官周承钰的故事。 【28题详解】 细节理解题。根据第二段“Zhou Chengyu was in charge of the rocket connector system--described as a vital role. Social media users have been celebrating her brilliance and referring to her as pride of the country. Her story in particular has drawn the public’s attention given her young age.(周承钰负责火箭连接系统——这是一个至关重要的角色。社交媒体用户一直在庆祝她的才华,称她为国家的骄傲。考虑到她的年龄,她的故事尤其引起了公众的关注。)”可知,周承钰成为国家的骄傲是因为她负责火箭连接系统,在工作中担任着重要作用。故选C项。 【29题详解】 推理判断题。根据第四段中“Her high school teacher remembers her as tough and determined. “She always had a dream of becoming scientist,” said her physics teacher.(在她的高中老师的印象中,她是一个坚强而坚定的人。“她一直梦想成为科学家,”她的物理老师说。)”可知,周承钰是一个非常坚定的人,再根据最后一段中“and yet she kept saying that she was “nobody but normal worker at a launch site”(但她一直说她“只是发射场的普通工人”)”可知,周承钰是一个非常谦虚的人。由此可知,周承钰是一个坚定且谦虚的人。故选D项。 【30题详解】 词义猜测题。根据最后一段中“She also said that she wished to remain her current status (现状)and continue doing her work with or without the popularity.(她还说,她希望保持目前的状态,无论是否受欢迎,都要继续她的工作。)”可知,周承钰在网络上受到了大家的欢迎。由此可知,划线词所在句“According to her colleague, Zhou Chengyu was very surprised when she found out she went viral online.”意为“据她的同事说,当周承钰发现自己在网上走红时,她非常惊讶。”即划线词意为“走红”与C项became very popular“变得很受欢迎”意思一致。故选C项。 【31题详解】 主旨大意题。根据文章大意以及第二段中“Social media users have been celebrating her brilliance and referring to her as pride of the country.(社交媒体用户一直在庆祝她的才华,称她为国家的骄傲。)”以及全文都在叙述有关她是祖国骄傲的事迹,可知,本文的最佳标题是“年轻的骄傲”。故选A项。 D Studying the DNA of 300 mice has flagged up (引起注意) genes which have been linked to hereditary (遗传的) sight loss for the first time. Researchers say because mice’s genes are so similar to humans’, their findings could lead to the treatment of more genetic diseases. Scientists at the University of California, Davis studied information from a data bank of mice’s genetic material. They found 347 genes linked to eye problems, with just 86 of them having been studied in the past. Only around 50 to 75 percent of hereditary eye diseases in human can be explained with present science. The researchers believe these hundreds of new genes found in mice could be a key to explaining and therefore being able to treat the other 25-50 percent. “This is extremely valuable for people with hereditary eye disease,” said researcher Professor Ala Moshiri. “All researchers are going to start using these data. In the past, we knew the problem was there but we didn’t know where to look. Now eye centers can call back patients and screen them for these new genes. We expected that more and more of these genetic diseases will be treatable.” Also, the fact is that more than 60 percent of eye problems at birth are ones resulting from the baby’s parents! Thanks to data from the International Mouse Phenotyping Consortium (IMPC), which is trying to work out what every single gene in a mouse is responsible for, with the aim of translating it to humans, scientists are moving closer to figuring out all genetic causes of blindness. To do this, scientists separate a single gene from other ones at a time and then observe what effect it has on the mouse for a long time. This has so far been done more than 7,000 times and has achieved great success. Researchers are now working alongside eye care centers in Texas and Iowa in order to compare the mice’s genes to those of patients. 32. How did the researchers find the genes linked to eye problems? A. By tracking down the baby’s parents. B. By screening patients for new genes. C. By studying the data of mice’s genes. D. By figuring out all genetic causes. 33. Why is the percentage of genetic eye problems mentioned in paragraph 3? A. To warn the high-risk level of suffering them. B. To prove mice’s genes are similar to humans’. C. To explain how common they are among people. D. To show the importance of studying mice’s genes. 34. What should scientists do first to unlock secrets of genetic blindness? A. Set apart a gene of mouse each time. B. Compare human’s genes with mice’s. C. Cooperate with eye care centers. D. Identify each gene’s function of a mouse. 35. What can be a suitable title for the text? A. New Ways to Cure Sight Loss B. Genes Found Behind Eye Problems C. Genetic Disease Discovered in Mice D. Humans Genes Causing Eye Disease 【答案】32. C 33. However, there are many times when you might want to give up your digital devices.(对许多人来说,在数字世界中连接只是日常生活的一部分。然而,很多时候你可能想要放弃你的数字设备)”可知,上文提到了想要放弃数字设备,结合后文给出了戒掉数码产品的建议,可知本句属于过渡句,建议尝试戒掉数码产品。故B选项“在这种情况下,你不妨试试戒掉数码产品”符合语境,故选B。 【37题详解】 根据上文“A digital detox refers to a period when a person stops using tech devices such as smartphones, computers, and social media. It is often seen as a way to focus on real-life social interactions without disturbing. There are a variety of forms of detoxing.(“数字排毒”指的是一个人停止使用智能手机、电脑和社交媒体等科技设备的一段时间。它通常被视为一种专注于现实社会互动而不打扰的方式。有各种各样的排毒方式)”以及后文“Also, you can try a specific detox — limiting the use of one app or digital tool that is taking up too much of your time.(此外,你可以尝试一个特定的排毒方法——限制使用一个占用你太多时间的应用程序或数字工具)”可知,本句与后文并列,都是在列举数字排毒的方式,故G选项“其中之一是“数码斋戒”,这意味着在一段时间内放弃所有的数码设备”符合语境,故选G。 【38题详解】 根据上文“Many experts believe that tech and device overuse can lead to physical and mental problems. Researchers from the University of Pennsylvania recently published a study linking the use of social media to increased stress level and symptoms (症状) of depression and loneliness.(此外,大量使用电子设备可能与心理健康问题有关。宾夕法尼亚大学的研究人员最近发表了一项研究,将社交媒体的使用与压力水平的增加以及抑郁和孤独的症状联系起来)”可知,上文提到了研究发现睡前使用电子设备的儿童睡眠明显更差、更少,后文则提到了大量使用电子设备可能与心理健康问题有关,可知本句是在说明研究关于电子设备对儿童的其他负面影响。故D选项“研究还发现夜间使用科技产品与视力问题之间存在联系”符合语境,故选D。 【39题详解】 根据本段内容“For many people, completely giving up all forms of digital communication might not be possible, particularly those who depend on them for work or school. If you need your devices during the day for your job, try doing a mini-detox at night.(对于许多人来说,完全放弃所有形式的数字通信可能是不可能的,特别是那些依赖于它们来工作或学习的人。所以,第一个关键是要现实。如果你白天工作需要你的设备,试着在晚上做一次小型排毒)”以及“Another way is to remove things that disturb you. Try to turn off push notifications (通知) on your phone or leave your phone at home when you are having dinner with friends. Of course, you can also tell your friends and family that you are on a digital detox and ask for their help, or keep a journal to track your progress to ensure a more successful detox.(另一种方法是移除打扰你的东西。 In Lulea, a city in northern Sweden, the sun only shines around three hours a day in the winter months. A. He invited them to travel together. D. He led them to their place. 26. Which of the following can best describe the last paragraph? A. Seeing is believing. B. Being kind is a good manner. C. Travelling enriches one’s life. D. Helping others brings great pleasure. 27. What’s the purpose of the author’s writing the text? A. To explain an unexpected problem. B. To list the unbelievable sites in Paris. C. To share an unforgettable foreign experience. D. To show the importance of mastering a foreign language. C A 24-year-old female space commander has become a viral sensation on Chinese social media for her work. 35.
