基础写作范文
Good morning, everyone! It’s my great honor to stand here and share my thoughts on how to improve English learning efficiency. As we all know, English is not only a subject but also a bridge to the world. However, many of us find it challenging to learn it well. Here are some tips I’d like to share:
Firstly, create an English environment. For example, you can listen to English songs, watch English movies, and even chat with your friends in English. This helps you get used to the language and improves your listening and speaking skills naturally. Secondly, make good use of every minute. Carry a small notebook with you. When you have free time, like on the bus or during breaks, you can review vocabulary or grammar. Little by little, these minutes add up and make a big difference. Thirdly, practice speaking bravely. Don’t be afraid of making mistakes. The more you speak, the more confident you will become. You can join an English club, or even talk to yourself in English. Practice makes perfect!
Let’s take actions now and enjoy the process of learning English. Thank you!

Monday 1 January
Today was a heartwarming start to the new year as my family gathered for a special hotpot dinner. Taking hot pot as our new year dinner is a crucial tradition long shared by my family. On hearing the first beep of my alarm, I fitted into my new-bought clothes and followed my parents to the supermarket for some “hotpot food.” Carrying all the dishes we love back home, we started to prepare for the big night. My mother and I were cutting the vegetable while my father had the floor mopped into a shiny mirror. At night, alongside my parents came my grandparents. We surrounded a round table where the hotpot saw us talking and laughing in high spirits. We took a photo together afterwards when we went for a joyful walk. With a first day like this, I am sure this year will be a wonderful year!

考试时间:120分钟 卷面总分:130分
第一部分 阅读(共两节,满分50分)
第一节(共15小题;每小题2.5分,满分37.5 分)
阅读下列短文,从每题所给的A、B、C、D四个选项中选出最佳选项。
A
The United States has a vast network of national parks spread all around the country. Here are some national parks for you.
Arches National Park, Utah
More than 2,000 natural stone arches make Arches National Park a special place in Utah. Travellers from around the world come to see brilliant sunsets that light up the sky each night. Hikers and rock climbers will love the endless options for exploring, while more lowkey visitors are sure to love the camping.
Acadia, Maine
Super close to Bar Harbor, one of Maine's most beloved tiny towns, Acadia National Park tops travel guides for the Vacation State. Before making your way to Mt. Desert island, dine on the country's most famous fish and take advantage of the opportunity to go whale watching on the Atlantic Ocean. When visiting Acadia, set aside some time to hike and go boating.
Mount Rainier, Washington
We couldn't leave the park with glaciers off the list. Washington's Mount Rainier National Park, found southeast of Seattle, has 25 of them (along with the famous volcano) as its attentioncatching sight. The National Park says “it's the snowiest place on earth where snow is measured regularly”. If snowcapped peaks aren't your thing, plan to visit the park when the weather is warmer.
Great Sand Dunes (沙丘), Colorado
You probably imagine the Rocky Mountains when you think about Colorado, but did you know that the Centennial state is also home to the United States' largest sand dunes? See them for yourself at Great Sand Dunes National Park, where you can go sand boarding and sledding (it's a real thing!) or “fat biking”. Though June temperatures are said to be some of Southern Colorado's best, a warm winter day can be an equally enjoyable time to see the dunes.
1.What do Arches National Park and Acadia have in common?
A.Tourists can hike in the parks. B.They are located in tiny towns.
C.Both of the parks offer sea food. D.They offer free guide to travellers.
2.What attracts travellers most in Mount Rainier?
A.Sunsets. B.Whales. C.Ice. D.Sands.
3.Where can you go if you are fond of cycling?
A.Arches National Park, Utah. B.Acadia, Maine.

When I read a post about taking someone to the movies, I was reminded of something that happened a couple of years ago.
I used to drink Cokes and they had a promotion (促销活动) where there was a code inside the bottle cap. You went to a website and entered the code and maybe you won something. I won some free Cokes. But then I won the grand prize! I was surprised and pleased.
The grand prize was free movies for a year. They pointed out that one movie a week was what free movies for a year meant. All of the tickets had a deadline (截止日期) later than a year from the day I received them. So I must use them in the following year. I used quite a few taking friends to movies we all wanted to see.
But the best thing I did with them was that I donated 22 tickets (all I had left by that time) to the local Women's Transition House, a place where women and their children could go when avoiding a bad situation in general and get help to make a new start.
My workplace team had decided to help people in need, so we collected donations for that particular New Year's Day. I knew that the Women's Transition House provided some childcare for the women so they could go for job interviews and things like that.
I put those tickets in a box and wrote a note on the outside, asking the Women's Transition House staff to give movie tickets to women there over the holidays to have something fun to do, with or without their children. It made me really happy to do this.
4.How did the author get the tickets?
A.By visiting a website by chance. B.By exchanging some Cokes for them.
C. By attending a knowledge competition. D. By winning the prize for drinking Cokes.
5.How many tickets did the author and his friends use?
A.About 22. B.About 30. C.About 52. D.About 365.
6.Which of the following best describes the author?
A.Lucky and caring. B.Creative and careful.
C.Responsible and cheerful. D.Thankful and generous.
7. What does the Women's Transition House offer to women?
A.Jobs. B.Babysitting. C.Free movie tickets. D.Interview skills.

Chinese New Year has been welcomed in Britain with its biggest ever program of events and celebrations.
From London's Trafalgar Square to major cities across Britain, tens of thousands of British people have joined Chinese communities to celebrate the arrival of the New Year. In Manchester there was a Dragon Parade(舞龙表演), led by a very impressive 54meter long dragon, ending in Chinatown where there was traditional Chinese entertainment, more than 6,000 lanterns, street food villages and a fireworks show. Celebrations also took place in Liverpool, Birmingham, Durham, Edinburgh, Leeds and Newcastle.
Academic Dr Wu Kegang said that the Chinese New Year event in Britain “is now bigger than ever and it is growing every year”. When Wu arrived in Britain 26 years ago from Guangdong, the first thing he noticed was that Chinese New Year was celebrated mainly in towns and cities with big Chinese communities. “You would go to London Chinatown and join your countrymen to celebrate, or to Chinatowns in places like Liverpool and Manchester for events almost only held for Chinese people,” Wu recalled. “Now it is so different, and we are seeing local communities all over the country taking part alongside their own Chinese populations,” he said. “It is clear to me that the celebrations will continue to grow in Britain. Chinese New Year has earned its place in the calendar of events in Britain, and is here to stay.”

A.It will lose its attraction.
B.It will become a British official holiday.
C.More and more British people will join in the celebrations.
D.It will become the most important one in the calendar of events in Britain.
11.What does this passage mainly tell us?

Some students get so nervous before a test. They do poorly even if they know the material. Sian Beilock, a professor at the University of Chicago in Illinois, has studied these highly anxious test-takers. The students start worrying about the results. And when they worry, it actually uses up attention and memory resources (资源).
Professor Beilock and another researcher, Gerardo Ramirez, have developed a possible solution. Just before an exam, highly anxious test-takers spend ten minutes writing about their worries about the test.
The researchers tested the idea on a group of twenty anxious college students. They gave them two short maths tests. After the first one, they asked the students to either sit quietly or write about their feelings about the upcoming second test.
Professor Beilock says those who sat quietly scored an average of J2% worse on the second test. But the students who had written about their fears improved their performance by an average of 5%. Next, the researchers used younger students in a biology class. They told them before final exams either to write about their feelings or to think about things unrelated to the test. Professor Beilock says highly anxious students who did the writing got an average grade of B+, compared to a B- for those who did not.
“What we showed is that for students who are highly test-anxious, who’d done our writing intervention (干预), all of a sudden there was no relationship between test anxiety and performance. They were performing just as well as their classmates who don’t normally get nervous in these tests.”
But what if students do not have a chance to write about their fears immediately before an exam? Professor Beilock says students can try it themselves at home or in the library and still improve their performance.
12. What may the students start worrying about before an exam?
A. Whether they can pass the exams.
B. What other students do during the test.
C. Whether they have remembered the materials.
D. What kind of problems they will meet on the test paper.
13. What is the solution developed by researchers?
A. Asking the students to ignore the test.
B. Asking the students to focus on the test.
C. Asking the students to sit quietly before the test.
D. Asking the students to write about their worries before the test.
14. According to Professor Beilock, those who thought about things unrelated to the test _______.
A. became less nervous before the test
B. were better at controlling their feelings
C. did worse than those who wrote about their feelings
D. did better than those who wrote about their feelings
15. What can be learned from the last paragraph?
A. Writing about our worries before an exam can work a bit.
B. We can only write about our worries right before an exam.
C. The best place to write about our worries is in the test room.
D. It doesn’t matter where we write about our worries before an exam.
