阅读下面短文,从每题所给的A、B、C、D四个选项中,选出最佳选项。
A
Next to our house, there lived an old couple. It seemed that they didn’t feel like making any connections with others. The only words we ever heard from them were “Keep out of our rosebushes (蔷薇花丛)!”
The rosebushes served as a fence between our house and theirs. A suitable place was a headache for us when we wanted to play softball (垒球) games. One day, my sister and I had a game in our yard. We should have played elsewhere to avoid hurting the roses, but we secretly enjoyed making the couple uncomfortable. My sister was trying to catch a fly ball. She fell over some rosebushes. Just at that moment, the woman Ruby Jones appeared. She shouted angrily, “Look at what you’ve done to our family’s roses!”
Hearing this, my sister and I ran into our house. Breathlessly, we told Mom what had happened. “Girls, I have told you not to play softball near those bushes. Come outside right now and help me fix them,” my mom said. We followed her outside to help repair the rose fence. While Mom was examining the damaged (被损坏的) roses, Ruby slowly walked out. She looked sad with her eyes red.
She walked over to my mother. We girls held our breath, waiting to see who would shout first and what terrible things would happen. “We are sorry about the flowers,” said Mom. Ruby smiled through her tears. She said, “The roses are very ▲ . They remind me of my mother. She died because of a serious illness several years ago.” Hearing that, I felt a sense of shame. My mother went down to examine the damaged roses, and the woman did the same. So did my sister and I.

A. To practice their softball skills. B. To make the couple unhappy.

Let’s say you are taking a walk along the road and you happen to see one or two waste bottles lying on the grass beside the road. What would you do?
You may have different choices. Firstly, you can leave the bottles there as they are. It wasn’t you who threw them away. Why should you do something about it? This is quite OK. Secondly, you can pick them up and throw them into a dustbin (垃圾箱). By doing this, you have walked a step further to help make our home clean. This action is a better choice. Thirdly, you might want to pick them up and give them to an old man or woman who collects waste for a living. If this is your choice, you have walked even further. You’re not only thinking about doing something for the environment, you’re also developing yourself to be a person who would think of others and help them.
As for young kids, they may always have such a question: “When do I grow up?” When does a child grow up? And how can a kid know he or she has grown up? These are interesting questions. As for us, 15-year-olds, who are finishing middle school, we’re no longer younger children. We should know whether or not we have grown up. When we start to have a sense of offering a helping hand for a cleaner and greener world, and when we have a loving heart to think more of others than of ourselves and are ready to help them, we can say that we have grown up.
Remember: If we help others, others will help us. If we do our best for nature, nature will offer its best to us in return!

C. It’s the best to give the bottles away. D. You must throw the bottles into a dustbin.
39. What means that we have grown up?
A. We stop asking others for help. B. We start to ask many questions.
C. We are finishing middle school. D. We start to care for others and nature.

A. Make our own decision. B. Thank the nature for its offer.

第二节 阅读表达(共5题;每题2分,满分10分)
A large number of young people are influenced (影响) by all kinds of choices today. This can be a good thing, but it can also lead some young people to experience mental internal friction (精神内耗).
Experts regard mental internal friction as the confusion (混乱) that happens when people have to change their thoughts (想法) from “old ideas” to “new ideas”. They have to ask themselves questions as “Are the new ideas good?” or “Do they fit me?” It is certainly not easy to discover the answers to these questions, especially when you’re still too young to have enough life experience to make proper decisions.
But don’t be disappointed—there are some suggestions that can help you reduce your mental internal friction. First, be consistent (始终如一的). To this end, you will always need to check yourself. As the Greek philosopher Aristotle (希腊哲学家亚里士多德) put it, “Knowing yourself is the beginning of all wisdom (智慧)”. You have to honestly think about your own personal habits, and even fears and worries. Second, develop new interests. A friend of mine decided to learn about Beijing Opera. He said that learning about “old things” made it easier for him to deal with the “new things” in modern life. And the third thing you can do is to spend time with nature. Being with nature helps you to know yourself and forget the stress.

41. When may people experience mental internal friction according to experts?
_____________________________________________________
42. Why can’t young people make proper decisions?

What’s it made of或What’s the dress made of询问裙子的原材料,其中be made of表示“由……制成”(能看出原材料)。
【48题详解】
上文A提到想去敬老院,下文Susan回答“当然,我很乐意”。这表明A正在邀请Susan一同前往,故填表示邀请的句子。Would you like to go with us或Would you like to join us是发出邀请的常用句型。
【49题详解】
A回答“鲜花、食物、牛奶等”,这些都是物品。Susan同意去之后,主动询问需要带什么东西。What should we take?是询问需携带物品的常用问句。
【50题详解】
上文商定骑自行车去,空处应说明骑自行车的好处。It’s good for the environment、It’s good for our health或It’s a good way to exercise是说明骑车益处的常用表达,分别从环保、健康、锻炼角度解释选择骑行的理由。

When Yasin was seven, his family moved from Iraq (伊拉克) to England. Yasin’s father went to work there and he said they would start a new life in the new country.
Although Yasin was unhappy about leaving their motherland, he quickly got used to his new life in London. The city amazed him with its tall buildings, museums, and the Thames with old bridges over it. Yasin made friends with his neighbor, Andrew. They spent the summer playing in the park and sharing toys and comics (连环漫画册). His English improved with Andrew’s help, though he still had trouble with many words and sometimes couldn’t speak as well as he wanted.
September came soon. It was time for Yasin to go to school. Yasin was nervous, but Andrew told him that the school would be a fun place to make new friends and learn interesting things. Yasin felt better because he trusted his friend.
However, when Yasin arrived at the school, things didn’t go as he had imagined. After the teacher introduced him to the class, some children laughed at him, making fun of him for being a foreigner and not speaking English well. Yasin felt sad and lonely.
The next day, when the children laughed at Yasin again, Andrew appeared. He reminded the others that people are all different and that that is what makes life interesting. Andrew also encouraged them to accept their differences. Finally, the children all laughed and celebrated their differences.

There are lots of apps, games and websites that are for fun, and they can be a great way to relax. There are others that are designed (设计) to help people in their daily lives.
Smiling Mind was made in Australia as an app to help young people learn about meditation (冥想) and mindfulness, which are both ways to focus your mind. It’s free and gives you exercises to practice for 10 minutes a day. The exercises are designed to help with your sleep, concentration, stress, health and happiness.
TextHear is an app created for people who are deaf or have hearing loss. It turns blind speech into text, using the Phone’s microphone to listen to conversations and turning them into text on the screen so people can see what is being said. It can translate between different languages.
Rewordify is a website rather than an app, and it’s for people who are practising their reading skills. You can paste (粘贴) difficult sentences or paragraphs into it, and will be given an easier version back to help you understand them.
Colorfy is a fun “art and digital colouring” app where you tap on (轻敲) different sections of pictures to colour them in. It’s been designed to help you relax and overcome nervous and stressful moments by focusing on something creative and calming.

36. What does the writer do at the beginning?
A. Do a survey. B. Tell a funny story. C. Make up a situation. D. Show a piece of advice.
37. What does the underlined word “home” refer to (指的是)?
A. House. B. Earth. C. Country. D. Family.
38. What idea does the writer show in Paragraph 2?
A. You can collect waste for a living. B. You shouldn’t pick up the bottles.
C. It’s the best to give the bottles away. D. You must throw the bottles into a dustbin.
39. What means that we have grown up?
A. We stop asking others for help. B. We start to ask many questions.
C. We are finishing middle school. D. We start to care for others and nature.
40. What does the writer want us to do by the text?
A. Make our own decision. B. Thank the nature for its offer.
C. Learn to depend on ourselves. D. Make a cleaner and warmer world.
