What time did the train arrive in Beijing?"
关键词:train, arrive, Beijing, time。
The train reached Beijing at 3 p.m. yesterday."
At 3 p.m. yesterday.
比如前文说 "He was tired"(他很累),后文可能会补充结果 "so he went to bed early"(所以他早睡了)。
-> succeed (v.)
-> happily (adv.)

There are many wetlands in China and some of them are very important. The Chinese Yellow Sea Wetlands are one of the world’s important wetlands. They are in Yancheng, Jiangsu Province. They are home to many animals. The world’s largest Milu Deer Nature Reserve is in them. Many Milu deer live freely there. There are not many red-crowned cranes in the world, but every winter you can see some in the Red-crowned Crane Nature Reserve in the Yellow Sea Wetlands.
The temperature in the wetlands is usually neither too high nor too low. There is a lot of rain and sunshine too. They are really good places for wildlife. The trotting horse lamp (小跑马灯) is a kind of traditional lantern. People used it to celebrate festivals like the Spring Festival, the Lantern Festival and the Mid-Autumn Festival. The lamp is popular for its fun and deep meaning in Changyi Town in Jiangxi Province. Lighting this lamp means hoping for good luck in the future. It was invented in the Southern Song Dynasty.
Inside the lamp, there is a wheel, small burning candles or lights at the bottom. The wooden sticks support the whole lamp and paper covers it. When the candles burn (燃烧), the air inside gets hot and starts to flow (流动). This makes the wheel shaft turn Then, the shadow (阴影) of the paper-cuttings on the shaft moves on the screen. In the past, the paper cuttings often showed people riding horses. That’s why it’s called the trotting horse lamp.
However, making this lamp is not easy. It needs painting and paper-cutting skills, and lots of patience. Now, only older people can make it well. They worry it will disappear (消失). So, some schools open clubs for students to learn and pass it down. Experts hope young people can keep this art alive.
24.Why is the trotting horse lamp popular in parts of Jiangxi Province?
25.What did the paper cuttings show people in the past?
26.Is making this lamp difficult?

Primary and middle schools in many cities have extended (延长) class breaks from 10 to 15 minutes. Why did they do this? The schools hope that both students and teachers can spend more time doing outdoor activities during breaks.
Before this change, most students only had 10 minutes between classes. If a class was on the third floor or above, students often found it hard to go outside. Think about it: going down stairs (楼梯) and up again takes a few minutes. By the time they got to the playground, there were only a few minutes left! So many students just stayed in the classroom or walked in the hallway (走廊). Now with 15 minutes, they can run to the playground, jump rope, or play games with friends. This change helps students meet the goal of doing at least 30 minutes of exercise each day. Cities like Beijing, Wuxi, and Zhenjiang have all started this 15-minute break.
Most people think having longer (更长的) class breaks is helpful. “My child comes home happier,” said a parent. “She can play outside and relax her eyes.” Teachers also notice good changes. “Students are more focused (注意力集中) in class after a longer break,” said Mr. Li, a math teacher. “And when they play outdoors together, they learn to work as a team—like in basketball or tag games” For students, it is good for their health because they can have more time to relax. Both parents and teachers also agree with 15-minute breaks. Longer class breaks can help make students’ social skills better in activities.
29.What did most students usually do during 10-minute class breaks?
30.Which cities have 15-minute breaks now from the passage?
31.Why couldn’t students on higher floors do outdoor activities before?
32.What do many people think of a 15-minute break?
33.Do you like longer class breaks? Why or why not?

Maria Lopez was stirring soup and studying spelling words. Her mother was late getting home. Mother had a new job at Universal Studios in Los Angeles. Universal Studios is where movies and TV shows are made. Maria thought it was exciting that her mother worked for a TV producer.
Maria was practicing her spelling words for the spelling bee at school.
When her mother came home, Maria hugged her, “Did you get tickets, so I can be on a TV show?” Maria wanted to be an actress. Maria dreamed of being on TV.
“Sorry, no. It is not easy to get tickets.” Mother poured the soup. “If I could get tickets, we would sit in the audience. Not be on the TV show.”
Maria sighed. She spelled, “U-n-f-a-i-r.” “Unfair.”
Still, Maria hoped the camera would point at her. Then she could be on TV.
The next day Maria rode the bus to Universal Studios. She wanted to look for her mother. Maria didn’t get on TV. She didn’t see even one movie star. She spelled, “D-i-s-a-p-p-o-i-n-t-e-d”. “Disappointed (失望的).”
“Maria! You cannot come to my work,” her mother said.
Maria went from being disappointed to being sad. She didn’t want to get her mother in trouble. But now she might never be on TV.
The next day at school was the spelling bee. After many turns at spelling, Maria was the last one left. Maria won the school spelling bee!
When Maria got home, Mother had a surprise for Maria, too. She had tickets to watch a TV show! Maria hoped she could be on TV.
That night they went to the TV show. The camera never pointed at her. Maria didn’t get to be TV after all.
Then, Maria’s teacher called. Maria would be in a bigger spelling bee with students from many schools! The spelling bee would be at the Convention Center. And it would be on TV!
Maria jumped up and down happily. “H-o-o-r-a-y!” Maria spelled. “Hooray!” She would be on TV after all!
At the spelling bee, Maria would make her mother proud. Maria would be on TV because she had worked hard. Maria ran and got her spelling word list. She needed to study her words just like an actress studies her lines.
34.What did Maria dream of?
35.What’s the surprise that Maria’s mother gave her?
36.How did Maria feel when her mother told her not to go to her work place?

You’re standing next to a road. You hear a car. You know it’s coming from the left because the sound gets to your left car first.
Do all animals hear in the same way? Bats hear with their ears, but they also send out a high sound with their mouth or nose. When this sound hits something, echoes come back. The bat now knows where the thing is and how big it is. We call this echolocation(回声定位).
Snakes don’t have ears, and they can’t hear. So how does a snake know when an animal is walking near it? It can feel the ground moving. So if you are in snake country, don’t walk quietly. When a snake knows something as big as a person is near, it usually goes away. If it doesn’t hear you coming, you may walk on it. And it doesn’t like that!
So bats, and some people, can “see” because they hear. And snakes can “hear” because they feel. Can some people hear things we usually see?
Yes! Some people can hear colours! When they listen to music, the different notes have different colours.
Franz Liszt (1811-1886) was the best piano player of his time. He also wrote music and was an orchestra conductor(指挥家). The musicians didn’t understand when he said things like, “Please, play this a little more blue. This music has to be blue. Not so pink, please.”
At first they thought this was funny. Then they understood that when Liszt heard music, he also saw colours.
39.What can a bat know from the echoes?
40.How do snakes know when danger is near?
41.If you could “hear” colours, which colour would sound special to you? Why?
would sound special to me because

The trotting horse lamp (小跑马灯) is a kind of traditional lantern. People used it to celebrate festivals like the Spring Festival, the Lantern Festival and the Mid-Autumn Festival. The lamp is popular for its fun and deep meaning in Changyi Town in Jiangxi Province. Lighting this lamp means hoping for good luck in the future. It was invented in the Southern Song Dynasty.
Inside the lamp, there is a wheel, small burning candles or lights at the bottom. The wooden sticks support the whole lamp and paper covers it.

Why?
would sound special to me because
39.It can know where the thing is and how big it is. 40.They know by feeling the ground moving. 41. Green(合理即可) I feel hope and confidence when things are green.(合理即可)
根据“ they also send out a high sound with their mouth or nose. When this sound hits something, echoes come back. The bat now knows where the thing is and how big it is.” It can know where the thing is and how big it is.
40.根据“when an animal is walking near it? It can feel the ground moving.” They know by feeling the ground moving.
Green;I feel hope and confidence when things are green.(合理即可)
