2. 推理判断(拉分重点) · 推断作者态度(positive/negative/neutral/surprised/critical)、文章出处(报纸、广告、科普、故事、书信)、后续情节、隐含原因。 3. 主旨大意 · 题型:最佳标题、段落大意、main idea、写作目的(to inform/to persuade/to entertain/to explain)。 Which is true? When did...? How much...? 2. We can infer/conclude that...; What will happen next? 3. The best title is...; The main idea of Para.2 is... 4. What does the word ... mean? 5. What does “it” refer to? 6. What’s the writer’s attitude/purpose? [示例] (节选) Traditionally, tourists like to make use of every second of the day. They rush from one place to another. When they finally get to their hotel rooms at night, they often find it hard to sleep though they are tired. Most city hotels may be in the city centre. But it usually also means noisy traffic and bright streetlights. As a result, many people simply do not sleep well in these hotels. To solve this problem, many hotels are offering special sleep suites (套间). These suites are made to provide quietness and darkness. Some hotels are even buying smart beds for these suites. They can not only help users relax their bodies but also record their sleep. ........................ 28.Why do some people have trouble sleeping when they travel? A.Because they don’t have time to sleep. B.Because they often meet traffic jams. C.Because it’s hard for them to find a hotel. D.Because they choose hotels in the city centre. 29.What is offered in special sleep suites to solve sleeping problem? A.Bright lights. B.Menus of fruits. C.Smart beds. D.Massages before meals. 根据文中第一段“Most city hotels may be in the city centre. But it usually also means noisy traffic and bright streetlights. As a result, many people simply do not sleep well in these hotels.” 根据文中第二段“Some hotels are even buying smart beds for these suites.” [示例] (节选) What makes you fall asleep? The main cause is your body clock, a time-keeper inside your body. But how to control and use your body clock? Scientists suggested having a shower before bed. Jumping into the shower around an hour before bed could mean you sleep better. A warm shower helps you relax, and then after it warms you up, your core(核心)body temperature drops. This encourages you to fall asleep more quickly and sleep more soundly. 2.What does the underlined word “soundly” probably mean? A.Deeply. B.Poorly. C.Kindly. D.Slowly. 【答案】 2.A 2. 根据“This encourages you to fall asleep more quickly and sleep more soundly.” 命题点01 直接信息题 [示例1] (节选) The New York Public Library is here to help you learn and connect with your community through our various free events. D.Soundview Library. College and Career Pathways: Personalized Advice for Teens部分中的“Are you struggling with planning out the next steps, for college or jobs or skill building? Meet one-on-one with a librarian to get some guidance, tips, and resources! 故选A。 [示例2] (节选) $25.00 recommended for adults, $12.00 recommended for students, includes the Main Building and The Cloisters (回廊) on the same day; free for children under 12 with an adult. ... 56.How much may they pay if an 11yearold girl and her working parents visit the museum? A.$12. B.$37. C.$50. D.$62. 根据题干关键词How much和pay可迅速定位到原文信息“$25.00 recommended for adults, $12.00 recommended for students, includes the Main Building and The Cloisters (回廊) on the same day; free for children under 12 with an adult.” 命题点02 间接信息题 [示例1] (节选) A week later, the list came out. I got the main role, Melody! I was really happy, but also realized how much work it would be. I was in almost all of the 13 scenes in the show and I had to memorize all my lines before the practice. 9.How might Rasleen feel when she saw her name on the list? A.Sad. B.Excited. C.Nervous. D.Relaxed. 9. 根据第五段中“A week later, the list came out. I got the main role, Melody! I was really happy, but also realized how much work it would be.(一周后,名单公布了。 [示例2] (节选) New analysis of these scans revealed that activity in the same regions Chen’s group had accurately pointed out in mice, the aDCN, appeared to be significantly disturbed in humans with Prader-Willi syndrome. In healthy individuals, the aDCN were more active in response to food images while fasting than just after a meal, but no such difference was identifiable in participants with the disorder. The result suggested that the aDCN were involved in controlling hunger. 44. According to the project conducted by the researchers, ________. A. the healthy testees were more likely to overeat after fasting B. food images increased the appetite of the testees with Prader-Willi syndrome C. the aDCN in the healthy testees responded to food images more actively after fasting D. the aDCN in the testees with Prader-Willi syndrome made no response to food images 【答案】 44. 根据文章第四段“ In healthy individuals, the aDCN were more active in response to food images while fasting than just after a meal, but no such difference was identifiable in participants with the disorder. 根据定义推测词义: 有时作者会通过给词汇下定义来帮助读者理解该词的基本含义,如线索词that is, or, namely, in other words, that is to say, to be more exact, to put it another way, which is等。 2. 线索词such as, such...as, for example, for instance, like , including, especially等。 3. 根据对比关系或转折关系推测词义: 表达对比或转折关系的词需注意but, yet, however, while, unlike, instead, similarly, on the contrary, in contrast to等。 4. 根据线索词as, since, because, for , so, thus, consequently, therefore, hence, due to, result in, result from, as a result, for this reason, accordingly, so...that, such...that等可知上下句存在因果,从而依据某一句的含义,来确定另一句的含义。 [示例1] (节选) A listener whose head is in some “sweet spot” hears high-quality sound. But as one gels farther from the sweet spot, the sound diminishes. That’s because sound waves from different loudspeakers interact to cancel out each other’s sound. What does the underlined word “diminishes” in paragraph 4 probably mean? A.Becomes lower. B.Travels faster. C.Gets sweeter. D.Sounds nicer. 故选A。 [示例2] (节选) Despite the study’s overall optimistic findings, however, the link between Internet access and positive well-being was weaker for young women. While some links between Internet connectivity and well-being were positive, some links were negative — with the most observed among women aged 15 to 24 years old. The researchers state that many studies have shown social media use to be connected with greater depression, especially among young women. 16.What does the underlined word “optimistic” in Paragraph 3 mean? A.Hopeless. B.Creative. C.Positive. D.Horrible. 命题点02 句子意义猜测 定位:定位划线句,利用语法和逻辑关系准确分析原卷 分析:分析理解划线句前后语境,合理推断句意 归纳:归纳总结,找出与原句意思完全吻合的选项 [示例1] (节选) Last year, after a winter of practicing skiing on the green tracks for beginners each week, Alicia was french-frying her way down blues and even attempted her first black. That month also witnessed me visiting the mountain more times than in the 15 years combined and I’ve got myself a partner for life. ...... What does the father imply by saying “I’ve got myself a partner for life.”? A.It is rewarding to learn new skills. B.Skiing has become his lifelong hobby. C.He will explore more with his daughter. D.His daughter will accompany him forever. 根据第二段“Watching your kids learn new skills is extraordinarily rewarding, but I’ve experienced more personal growth than I have at any other point in my life.”(看着你的孩子学习新技能是非常值得的,但我经历的个人成长比我生命中其他任何时候都要多。)以及划线句前“Last year, after a winter of practicing skiing on the green tracks for beginners each week, Alicia was french-frying her way down blues and even attempted her first black. That month also witnessed me visiting the mountain more times than in the 15 years combined ”(去年,艾丽西亚在为初学者准备的绿色雪道上练习了一个冬天的滑雪之后,她在蓝色中级雪道一路摸索,甚至尝试了她的第一个黑色钻石雪道。 [示例2] (节选) Since Cassevah was four years old, he has been obsessed with the Danish building bricks, and he spent all his spare time playing with them. And as an adult, he clearly continues to love the little colorful bricks. He has even broken Guinness World Records many times by walking on LEGO without wearing shoes! 12.What do the underlined words “has been obsessed with” in paragraph 2 mean? A.Has been free from. B.Has been hungry for. C.Has been crazy about. D.Has been successful in. 根据后文内容“…he spent all his spare time playing with them. And as an adult, he clearly continues to love the little colorful bricks. He has even broken Guinness World Records many times by walking on LEGO without wearing shoes!(他把所有的业余时间都花在和他们玩上了。 由此可推知,“has been obsessed with”应是“一直痴迷于”含义,与“has been crazy about(一直很着迷)”含义一致。故选C项。 一. (A) Best Walking Tours in London London is one of the most walkable capital cities in the world. Rosenberg, whose grandparents moved to the East End as children, loves the area and its social history a lot — it holds the story of the working class. Historic Pubs, Food & Beer Tour Think of this as a walk with friends rather than a tour (groups are limited to 12). You meet at a best selfie spot — at Rotherhithe, overlooking the Thames — then catch the overground train to the pubs. By reservation only. Five of London’s most historic pubs in four hours is not an easy but worthwhile task. Jermyn Street Fashion Walk A seriously professional private tour to match your preferences. A.Tour for Muggles B.Jermyn Street Fashion Walk C.East End Walks D.Historic Pubs, Food & Beer Tour 2.What do the four walking tours have in common? A.They limit the number of a group. B.They have professional guides. C.They are private tours to your preference. D.They recommend reservation in advance. 3.Where is the text probably taken from? A.News report. B.Travel brochure. C.History textbook. D.Geographic magazine. 根据East End Walks部分“The tours cover the social history of the traditionally working class area.(该游览路线覆盖这片传统工人阶级区域的社会历史。)”以及“Rosenberg, whose grandparents moved to the East End as children, loves the area and its social history a lot — it holds the story of the working class.(Rosenberg的祖父母小时候就搬到了伦敦东区,他十分热爱这片区域以及这里的社会历史——这里承载着工人阶级的过往故事。)” 根据Tour for Muggles部分“Groups are limited to 20 and accept tourists of all ages.(团队人数上限为20人,各年龄段游客均可参与。)”、East End Walks部分“There can be up to 30 in each group.(每个团队最多30人。)”、Historic Pubs, Food & Beer Tour部分“Think of this as a walk with friends rather than a tour (groups are limited to 12).(你可以把这趟行程看作和好友一同散步,而非普通观光游览(团队人数上限12人)。)”以及Jermyn Street Fashion Walk部分“Groups are recommended no larger than eight, and it’s all done on foot.(建议团队人数不超过8人,全程步行游览。)” 根据第一段“London is one of the most walkable capital cities in the world. Walking through its streets lets you feel the city’s history, culture, and charm. So, lace up your sneakers — here are London’s best walking tours for your next visit.(伦敦是全球最适合步行游览的首都城市之一。 (B) Dear Chen Jie, How is it going? (A) My first day in high school will never be forgotten. When I got to the classroom in the morning, I saw that Mr. Brown had already put our names on our tables. After walking a few steps, I saw my name on the table right in the middle of the classroom. Walking up to my table, my heart sang. “It would be great to sit there. I could see everything easily,” I thought to myself. A while later, the other students entered one by one and took their own seats. And then Mr. Brown started talking. He showed us his classroom rules and tried to explain them. All of a sudden, a student called Tony started singing loudly. All the while he moved his body to the music. His desk mate Josh couldn’t understand why he was doing these things. Then he stood up and talked to Mr. Brown, “I don’t want to sit with this strange guy. Can I swap seats with someone else in this room, please?” Mr. Brown didn’t answer his question directly. He stopped what he was doing and turned on his computer. Then he showed us some pictures about autistic (患自闭症的) kids. He explained that autistic kids have little self-control. They seem to do things that are beyond everyone else’s understanding. However, they can do many other great things, in the field of art or music for example. Then he told us that Tony was not good at maths, but loved songs. “He can sing thousands of songs. What’s more surprising is that he can remember all the words without any mistakes.” In the end, Mr. Brown added that although autistic kids were different, they should be loved. Since that first day in high school, I became Mr. Brown’s admirer (崇拜者). I was pretty sure Mr. Brown would get all of us on the right track. 8.How did the author feel when seeing his table? A.Annoyed. B.Upset. C.Excited. D.Unhappy. 9.What did Mr. Brown do in the class first? A.He introduced Tony. B.He showed some pictures. C.He got his computer ready. I knew even then that he was a bright young man with great potential, and a hunger for learning. But he struggled to apply what he had learned due to his autism (自闭症). Diagnosed (诊断) with Asperger’s syndrome (阿斯伯格综合症) in elementary school, Kevin scored well on tests. However, a huge part of school learning takes place not at a student’s individual desk, but in groups that require participation. For children like Kevin, that presents a big challenge. For a long time, we struggled to persuade Kevin to come out of his shell and join the class. He preferred doing activities alone, and hated classroom tasks that required teamwork, like lab experiments. He struggled with public speaking even in small groups, and didn’t want to try new things. You could tell that there was huge potential there — I never doubted his academic abilities. But at times many of us at the school worried about whether he’d ever be able to make full use of those abilities to build a future for himself. Over time, however, something changed. Slowly he began to want to try new things, and to work with people. He developed into a boy of humor, and started to participate in class and to let people get to know him. And he was gradually into the high school’s work-based learning program, where he learned about information technology — an area Kevin is always gifted in. In fact, in some ways, I think it was his experience with computers that brought him out of himself and helped him join the world. Finding something he was good at gave him the confidence he’d so badly needed. 12.What challenge did Kevin Sargeant have to face in school at first? A.He had low intelligence. B.He lacked the love for learning. C.He wasn’t used to team work. D.He couldn’t make friends with kids. 13.Which of the following words can best describe the changing Kevin? A.Kind and open-minded. B.Talented and responsible. C.diligent and dependent. D.Humorous and outgoing. 14.According to the author, what led to Kevin’s change? A.His experience with computers. B.His teacher’s encouragement. C.The requirement of teachers. D.The work-based learning program. 15.Which of the following can be the best title for the passage? A.A Lonely Talented Boy B.Out of the shell into the Sunshine C.The Magic of Computers D.Strength from the Surrounding World 【答案】12.C 13.D 14.A 15.B 【导语】本文讲述患有自闭症的高中生凯文起初孤僻内向,难以参与集体活动,后来凭借自身电脑天赋重拾自信,慢慢走出自我、融入集体。 根据第三段“He preferred doing activities alone, and hated classroom tasks that required teamwork, like lab experiments.(他喜欢独自活动,讨厌实验这类需要团队合作的课堂任务。)” 根据第四段“Slowly he began to want to try new things, and to work with people. He developed into a boy of humor, and started to participate in class and to let people get to know him.(慢慢地他愿意尝试新事物、与人合作,变得幽默开朗,主动参与课堂,愿意让他人了解自己。)” 根据第四段“In fact, in some ways, I think it was his experience with computers that brought him out of himself and helped him join the world.(事实上在某种程度上,我认为正是接触电脑的经历让他走出自我,融入外界。)” 根据第三段“For a long time, we struggled to persuade Kevin to come out of his shell and join the class.(很长一段时间里,我们都努力劝说凯文走出孤僻的状态,融入班级集体。)” Computer problemsThe experienced IT engineer will sort out problems with home computers. Small for my age, and more of a bookworm than a sports enthusiast, I had suffered that special humiliation of being picked last for various gym teams. The Field Day, which focused on individual skills, was different. In the Softball Throw event, I got my first taste of sporting victory. Credit goes to the example of my first coach, my father. He lifted weights every morning at home. He bought us all baseball gloves and hats, and in the warm months, we spent hours playing catch. Come fall, our backyard football games began with passing practice. Once I got to sixth grade and switched to private school, our entire student body was assigned to either the Red or the White team. Throughout the year, we competed against each other in various games and exercises for points. I eventually became president of The Committee of Games, accelerating (加速) my competitive fever. However, in girls’ sports games at my school, I was no star. I also played on the field hockey team and the basketball team. School sports did not bleed into the weekends, as they do today, but at home, playing tennis, skating, skiing and biking were simply normal things we did. During break time, magazines were also quite popular for us teens. These regularly featured articles on physical exercise. Somehow, my college roommate and I took up the habit of completing Royal Canadian Air Force (RCAF) exercises every day, a practice that continued into my marriage, when we had no spare funds to use to join a gym. So, though it shocks some of our friends, that early foundation evolved (演变) in adulthood into a sports and fitness focus, considered essential even on vacation. I still love reading and the arts, too. As far as I’m concerned, life is the richest with my feet in both worlds. 5.What does the underlined word “humiliation” mean in Paragraph 1? A.Responsibility B.Panic C.Shame D.Desire 6.What did the author owe her victory in the Softball Throw event to? A.Her advanced sports outfits. B.Her confidence in her sports ability. C.The sports talent passed down from her father. D.The example and training offered by her father. 7.What happened after the author stepped into adulthood? A.She generally exercised on weekends. B.She joined Royal Canadian Air Force. C.She preferred reading to exercising. D.She kept her love for sports. 8.What is the author’s purpose in writing the article? A.To describe how her father built her interest in sports. B.To recall her childhood memories about sports. C.To express her passion for sports and fitness. D.To stress the benefits of physical exercise. 根据第一段中的“Small for my age, and more of a bookworm than a sports enthusiast, I had suffered that special humiliation of being picked last for various gym teams.(我在同龄人中个头偏小,比起运动爱好者,我更像个书呆子,我遭受过体育课各种队伍最后被选中的特殊humiliation)”可知,在体育课上最后被挑选是一件令人难堪、丢脸的事情。 根据第一段中的“In the Softball Throw event, I got my first taste of sporting victory. Credit goes to the example of my first coach, my father. He lifted weights every morning at home. He bought us all baseball gloves and hats, and in the warm months, we spent hours playing catch. Come fall, our backyard football games began with passing practice.(在垒球投掷项目中,我第一次体验到运动胜利的滋味。 根据最后一段中的“So, though it shocks some of our friends, that early foundation evolved in adulthood into a sports and fitness focus, considered essential even on vacation.(所以,尽管让一些朋友感到惊讶,这份早年的运动基础在成年后演变成对运动和健身的专注,即便在假期也必不可少)”可知,作者成年后依然保持着对体育运动的热爱。 8. 根据第一段中“The first time I realized that I had a love for sports competitions was during the Field Day in elementary school.(我第一次意识到我对体育比赛的热爱是在小学的Field Day期间)”和最后一段“So, though it shocks some of our friends, that early foundation evolved in adulthood into a sports and fitness focus, considered essential even on vacation.(因此,尽管这让我们的一些朋友感到震惊,但早期的基础在成年后演变成了一种专注于运动和健身的方式,即使在度假时也被认为是必不可少的)”以及文章内容可知,本文主要讲述了作者从小热爱体育,并且在父亲的指导和培训下第一次尝到了运动胜利的滋味。 The Amazon in the heart of South America and the Atlantic rainforests on the east coast of the continent are separated by hundreds of miles of dry forest and savanna (稀树草原) that are too difficult for most rainforest trees to survive. Despite this gap, the two ecosystems share many different species of tree. It was previously supposed that the trees bridged this gap during historical periods when the region was much wetter and more forgiving to passing trees. Off the back of new research, a new theory has sprung up: The forests of the Atlantic rainforest are constantly occupied by trees from the Amazon. They do this by growing and spreading along the river, which acts like a hidden “highway” between the two separated ecosystems. “Rather than tree species being exchanged during specific wetter periods in the past, we found that they have dispersed consistently over time,” Dr James Nicholls, lead study author, said in a statement. “This probably happens slowly, by generations of trees growing along the ‘highways’ provided by rivers that run through Brazil’s dry ecosystems,” added Dr Nicholls. The researchers came to this conclusion by studying the genetics of 164 species of Inga tree, which are common in Latin American rainforests. Their DNA was used to reconstruct the “family tree” of the plants showing the team when each species split from its numerous ancestors and their pattern of movement across the continent. Researchers identified 16 to 20 instances of species migrating from the Amazon to the Atlantic Forest and successfully taking root. The study highlights how the natural world does not respect the national borders set by homo sapiens (智人). These ecosystems are deeply connected, frequently spreading between countries with regardless of border checks and passports. This view, the team says, could have huge importance for the conservation of the rainforests in South America and the rest of the world. 9.What can we learn from the old theory of tree migration? A.It depended on genetic data. B.It stressed slow river spread. C.It proved species connection. D.It assumed wetter past periods. 10.How do trees from the Amazon reach the Atlantic rainforest according to the new theory? A.By using wind movement. B.By getting human assistance. C.By following river highways. D.By relying on animal migration. 11.What does the underlined word “dispersed” in Paragraph 4 mean? A.Spread. B.Increased. C.Reduced. D.Disappeared. 12.What does the study suggest people do for rainforest conservation? A.Focus only on the Amazon. B.Cooperate across countries. C.Protect each forest separately. D.Ignore national borders entirely. 根据第二段“It was previously supposed that the trees bridged this gap during historical periods when the region was much wetter and more forgiving to passing trees.(以往人们认为树木是在该地区更湿润的历史时期跨越这片阻隔地带的。)” 根据第三段中“They do this by growing and spreading along the river, which acts like a hidden “highway” between the two separated ecosystems.(它们沿着河流生长扩散,河流如同两大独立生态系统间隐秘的“高速通道”。)” 根据第四段中“Rather than tree species being exchanged during specific wetter periods in the past, we found that they have dispersed consistently over time,” Dr James Nicholls, lead study author, said in a statement. “This probably happens slowly, by generations of trees growing along the ‘highways’ provided by rivers that run through Brazil’s dry ecosystems,” added Dr Nicholls.(该研究的主要作者詹姆斯·尼科尔斯博士在一份声明中指出:“我们发现,树种并非在过去特定的湿润时期才进行交流,而是随着时间的推移持续不断地dispersed。” 根据最后一段“The study highlights how the natural world does not respect the national borders set by homo sapiens (智人). These ecosystems are deeply connected, frequently spreading between countries with regardless of border checks and passports. This view, the team says, could have huge importance for the conservation of the rainforests in South America and the rest of the world.(这项研究强调了自然界并不尊重智人所设定的国界。 2. 推理判断(拉分重点) · 推断作者态度(positive/negative/neutral/surprised/critical)、文章出处(报纸、广告、科普、故事、书信)、后续情节、隐含原因。 3. 主旨大意 · 题型:最佳标题、段落大意、main idea、写作目的(to inform/to persuade/to entertain/to explain)。 Which is true? (B) When I first started working with Kevin Sargeant, he was a freshman in high school, and I was his science teacher. A.A Lonely Talented Boy B.Out of the shell into the Sunshine C.The Magic of Computers D.Strength from the Surrounding World 一、基础练习题 Computer problemsThe experienced IT engineer will sort out problems with home computers. The first time I realized that I had a love for sports competitions was during the Field Day in elementary school. The Amazon in the heart of South America and the Atlantic rainforests on the east coast of the continent are separated by hundreds of miles of dry forest and savanna (稀树草原) that are too difficult for most rainforest trees to survive.
