Last summer, I volunteered at a small woodworking studio in the old part of our city. It was there that I met Mr. Chen, a 58-year-old master craftsman whose hands told stories of decades working with wood. While his workshop was filled with traditional tools, what he created was anything but conventional — wooden furniture that perfectly blended classic craftsmanship with contemporary design.
What struck me most was Mr. Chen's unique perspective on what he called "new-era craftsmanship." Though he learned woodworking from his father as a teenager, he never confined himself to old methods. Recognizing the changing preferences of younger customers, he spent evenings teaching himself 3D modeling software and weekends researching sustainable materials like bamboo composites and water-based finishes.
I witnessed his innovative approach firsthand when a young couple asked for a custom bookshelf for their small apartment. They needed something space-efficient, eco-friendly, and easy to take apart for potential moves. Mr. Chen embraced the challenge enthusiastically.
Over the next week, he created multiple digital prototypes, experimented with three different types of wood, and reinvented traditional techniques to create interlocking joints that required no metal fasteners. I often found him working late, his experienced hands carefully testing each component. When I asked why he invested such extraordinary effort into what seemed like a simple project, he paused from his work and smiled. "True craftsmanship isn't about blindly repeating what our ancestors did," he explained. "It's about understanding the essence of tradition while having the courage to adapt it for today's world."
To illustrate his point, he showed me two bookshelves — one he made twenty years ago, beautiful in its solid construction, and the new prototype, which used thirty percent less material while being equally sturdy and more functional for modern living.
Through Mr. Chen's example, I came to understand that new-era craftsmanship represents the perfect marriage of dedication and innovation. It honors the past while embracing the future, proving that excellence comes not from doing one thing forever, but from doing it well with an ever-evolving spirit.
24.Traditional tools are mentioned in Paragraph1 to _______.
A.stress Mr. Chen’s source of inspiration
B.highlight the wisdom of past generations
C.promote the spirit of traditional craftsmanship
D.contrast with Mr.Chen’s modern and creative ideas
25.Why does the author list specific requests from the young couple?
A.To display the shift of traditional craftsmanship.
B.To reveal the challenges facing today’s craftsmen.
C.To imply the need for craftsmen to go with the times.
D.To distinguish modern approaches from traditional ones.
26.What does “true craftsmanship” mean in Mr. Chen’s viewpoint?
A.Creating resource-efficient products.
B.Persisting through testing and effort.
C.Adapting traditional wisdom for modern use.
D.Combining digital and traditional techniques.
27.What does Mr. Chen’s story show?
A.The best of both worlds.
B.Two sides of a coin.
C.If it isn’t broken, don’t fix it.
D.What is new is not always better.

In a strawberry greenhouse in Nanjing, a small tracked robot moves slowly between rows of plants. No bigger than a shopping cart, it uses a camera on top to scan the plants and lock onto ripe strawberries. A flexible robotic arm then reaches out. At its end, a soft silicone gripper shaped like a sea anemone gently wraps around each fruit, gives a light pull and twist, and places a perfect, stem-free strawberry into a basket.
This robot was developed by researchers from Nanjing Agricultural University. It takes about 20 seconds to pick one strawberry, with an 84% success rate, and the fruit is nearly as perfect as hand-picked ones. Harvesting soft fruits like strawberries has long been difficult for machines. Traditional robots used scissors to cut stems, leaving sharp pieces that could scratch other strawberries during transport, causing waste. Farmers also had to remove stems by hand before packing—a labor-costly step.
To solve this, the team took inspiration from sea anemones. They designed a soft gripper(抓爪) made entirely of flexible silicone. It is highly elastic and can change shape to safely hold strawberries of different sizes without crushing them. The team also copied human picking motion: after gripping the fruit, the arm pulls it slightly upward and turns it, making the stem break naturally at the connection point. The result is a stem-free strawberry ready for sale.
The robot is equipped with a deep learning system and camera vision. It can identify ripe fruits even when leaves block the view, judge their positions, and choose the best one to pick first. After each pick, it quickly plans the next target. With this smart system, the success rate has risen from 66% to 84%. The team plans to build a cloud platform, allowing farmers to use standardized data to control the robot easily. This technology can also be applied to cherries and tomatoes, helping make Chinese agriculture smarter.
This strawberry-picking robot shows how technology transforms farming—saving labor, reducing waste, and improving efficiency. It is also a vivid example of biology, engineering, and AI working together to solve real-world problems, pointing to a future where robots and farmers cooperate to grow better food.
28. What does the underlined word "elastic" in Paragraph 3 most probably mean?
A. Thin and easily torn B. Hard and breakable
C. Soft and recoverable D. Tough but stretchable
29. How does the new robot remove strawberries from the plants?
A. By pulling and twisting the fruit gently.
B. By cutting the stem with a small scissor.
C. By using a camera to locate the stem first.
D. By squeezing the fruit until the stem breaks.
30. What can be inferred about the cloud platform mentioned in Paragraph 4?
A. It enables farmers to control multiple robots at once.
B. It will require farmers to upload their own picking data.
C. It will replace the robot's builtin deep learning system.
D. It allows farmers to use the robot without special training.
31. What is the main purpose of the passage?
A. To introduce a solution to a farming challenge.
B. To argue that AI will replace human farm workers.
C. To show how multiple disciplines solve real problems.
D. To compare traditional and modern harvesting methods.

Getting to know yourself is a lifelong process that can take many twists and turns. But, for some of us, learning where we fall on the introvert(内向的)/extrovert(外向的) spectrum can be the foundation of understanding who we are.
Perhaps you see yourself as an extrovert; someone who gets energy from socializing with others and needs to 'think out loud' by sharing problems in order to process them. If you'd call yourself ‘chatty’ or ‘outgoing’, you might identify with this label. On the other end of the range, maybe you're an introvert; someone who needs alone time to recharge your energy and think things through in private. Introverts are generally considered quieter and more reflective than extroverts.
But what if neither of these personality types feels like the whole you? What if you're a little bit of both, depending on your mood and the situation? Well, you're probably an ambivert(中间性格者) , someone who falls in the middle of the introvert/extrovert spectrum, and who draws energy from both social interactions and solitude (独处) —depending on the context of each of them.
The discovery of a third personality type might bring a sigh of relief to you, because feeling forced to pick a label at either end of a spectrum can leave us feeling like we don't fit in. For example, someone who has adopted the narrative of calling themselves an extrovert may find themselves saying 'yes' to every invitation, their time swallowed up by constant social interactions, leaving them little time for their quiet passion for reading and writing poetry. They may only require a very small amount of introverted time, but have become so caught up in the habit of their extroverted identity that they have trouble believing they are capable of solitude, disconnecting them from an important part of themselves.
Similarly, someone like me, who identifies as a textbook introvert, can actively avoid social situations and busy events, simply because we believe in the story that we will come away feeling drained and over stimulated. In reality, chatting and laughing with others can actually often boost my energy, helping me feel more optimistic and motivated than on days I remain alone.
The point is this: personality is rarely fixed to a static set of traits, and, so, trying to box yourself into a fixed label can feel unintentionally limiting. Not everyone is an introvert or an extrovert. Many sit somewhere in between, and embracing this flexibility could help you understand yourself better.
32. According to paragraph 2, which is true about introverts?
A. They recharge by socializing. B. They think out loud in groups.
C. They are described as outgoing. D. They are quieter and reflective.
33. Why does the author mention the extrovert who says "yes" to every invitation?
A. To show extroverts are busy. B. To prove extroverts need solitude.
C. To illustrate labels hide true needs. D. To suggest extroverts dislike parties.
34. What is the author's attitude towards fixed personality labels?
A. He approves of using labels. B. He considers them necessary.
C. He recommends them for science. D. He thinks they are overly limiting.
35. What is the main idea of the passage?
A. Labels help social interactions.
B. Fixed labels are always accurate.
C. Everyone is either introvert or extrovert.
D. Personality flexibility aids self-understanding.

I was chosen to represent my school in a national online speech contest themed “Youth and the Future.” The competition would be live-streamed nationwide, and participants were encouraged to make full use of digital tools, including AI programs, to polish their speeches. It sounded exciting and modern — exactly the kind of opportunity I had been waiting for.
At first, I was filled with confidence. However, when I sat down to draft my speech, I found myself struggling to organize my ideas. Out of curiosity, I typed a few key words into an AI writing tool. Within seconds, a beautifully structured speech appeared on the screen. The language was powerful, the arguments convincing, and the examples impressive. It was far better than anything I had written before.
Encouraged by the result, I began adjusting a few sentences here and there, gradually accepting more of the AI-generated content. Before long, nearly the entire speech had been shaped by the program. My classmates praised it enthusiastically, saying it sounded professional and mature. “Why not use technology to your advantage?” one of them asked.
Yet that night, as I reread the speech alone in my room, a strange discomfort crept over me. The words were flawless, but they did not truly reflect my own voice. I began to wonder whether standing on that virtual stage with borrowed brilliance would really represent the “future of youth.”
The submission deadline was only hours away, and I found myself staring at the glowing screen, caught between convenience and authenticity.
After a long moment of hesitation, I made my decision.
Standing in front of the camera on the day of the contest, I began my speech.

Cork Carving on Campus
Last Friday, our school held a two-day “Cork Carving on Campus” activity in the art gallery, aiming to introduce this unique intangible cultural heritage to students.
The activity featured an exhibition of exquisite cork artworks and a hands-on workshop led by local craftsmen. In the exhibition, we admired miniature landscapes, flowers and birds, all carved from soft cork with astonishing detail. The workshop then gave us the chance to try to carve simple patterns by ourselves under professional guidance.
Not only did I gain a deeper insight into this traditional craft, but I also developed a genuine appreciation for the patience and skill it requires. Though I only managed a basic design, the experience was truly eye-opening and rewarding.
After a long moment of hesitation, I made my decision. With my heart pounding, I deleted the AI-generated paragraphs one by one and began typing again, this time relying solely on my own thoughts. The sentences were simpler and less impressive, yet they carried my genuine doubts, dreams and experiences. I wrote about how technology could empower us, but only if we remained thoughtful and responsible users. When I finally pressed the “submit” button, a strange sense of relief washed over me, replacing the anxiety that had troubled me all night. For the first time, I felt that the speech truly belonged to me.
Standing in front of the camera on the day of the contest, I began my speech. My voice trembled slightly at first, but as I spoke, confidence gradually took its place. I was no longer worried about sounding perfect; instead, I focused on expressing my belief that the future of youth lies not in artificial brilliance but in authentic courage. When the live comments started appearing on the screen, many viewers appreciated the honesty of my message. Regardless of the final result, I understood that embracing technology responsibly had already taught me a far more valuable lesson about integrity and self-respect.
C. Ask a neighbor for help.
I gave her a spare key."
A. The weather.
C. Chicago.
He said he might move to Chicago."
B. Classmates.
关键线索:女士说"win the championship in the national finals"、"relay team"、"tough practices",男士用"Congratulations!"和"You ran so fast"表示祝贺。
B. Set a good example for the kids.
Maybe we should try using our phones less first, before we ask them to." 这正是"set a good example"的含义。
C. To buy a present.
I'd like to pick up some gifts for my sister",去礼品店的目的是给姐姐/妹妹买礼物。A选项"休息"是女士的需求("I can't wait to sit down"),B选项"找出口"是背景信息。
A. She wants to leave quickly.
Finally!"、"I can't wait to sit down in a cafe."、"Let's hurry up!"
A. A tech news reporter.
C. His work can benefit others.
男士说:"the best part is knowing that what we build can actually make a difference in someone's life... Seeing students learn better --- that's what keeps me going."
B. He works in finance.
My brother works in finance and earns more."
A. She got them from a neighbor.
女士说:"my old neighbor was moving away... she asked if I wanted them."
B. A small animal.
女士说:"all I wanted was a small animal! A little fox, or maybe a dog... even a rabbit!"
C. They require more effort to care for.
They're harder to keep, but I think they're worth it." "harder to keep"即"require more effort to care for"。
C. Putting their projects on display.
对话开头男士问"is this where we hand in our art projects?",随后两人讨论各自作品的摆放位置,说明他们正在布展/上交作品。 It's up to the judges"(由评委决定),说明他们不是评委。
B. A wooden hand.
A选项"wind bell"是Laura的作品,C选项"light-operated lamp"是Paul的作品。
C. It might destroy her project.
If it gets too warm, my clay pots might break."
B. On a shelf in the corner.
I'll just use that shelf in the corner. It's away from the heat and still easy to see."
B. Between 1943 and 1961.
It was the busiest from 1943 to 1961 --- about 18 years in total."
A. It became a seaside park.
Around 2003, the local government took over and made it part of a seaside park."
B. Its history shows people can live in harmony with nature.
It reminds us that with new ways of thinking, we can live in better harmony with nature. That's what I hope for..."

根据第一段“... build passion and enjoyment for the written word!” 故选A项。
根据第二段“Submit an original poem or choose one of your existing poems from the site.” B(Original or from the site)符合原文。A(本月写的)、C(已发表的)、D(全新未发表的)均未提及或过于绝对。故选B项。
根据最后一段“if you withdraw from the voting, your poem's overall score will be reduced by seven points.” A(不投票给他人)并不等同于退赛,C(写多首诗)、D(逾期提交)文中均未提及扣分规则。

根据第一段中“While his workshop was filled with traditional tools, what he created was anything but conventional wooden furniture that perfectly blended classic craftsmanship with contemporary design.(虽然他的工作室里摆满了传统工具,但他所创作的作品绝非传统的木制家具,而是将经典工艺与现代设计完美融合)”可知,工作室里摆满了传统工具,但是陈师傅的作品却绝非传统的木制家具,而是将经典工艺与现代设计完美融合。
根据第二段中“I witnessed his innovative approach firsthand when a young couple asked for a custom bookshelf for their small apartment. They needed something space-efficient, eco-friendly, and easy to tear apart for potential moves.(我曾亲眼目睹他的创新做法:当时一对年轻夫妇为自家小公寓定制书架。
根据第三段中“True craftsmanship isn’t about blindly repeating what our ancestors did,” he explained. “It’s about understanding the essence of tradition while having the courage to adapt it for today’s world.”(“真正的工艺不是盲目地重复祖先所做的事情,”他解释道。
根据最后一段“Through Mr. Chen’s example, I came to understand that new-era craftsmanship represents the perfect marriage of dedication and innovation. It honors the past while embracing the future, proving that excellence comes not from doing one thing forever, but from doing it well with an ever-evolving spirit.(通过陈师傅的例子,我明白了新时代的工匠精神是奉献与创新的完美结合。 A项“The best of both worlds(两全其美)”准确地概括了这一寓意。故选A项。

解题思路: 根据第三段画线词所在句“It is highly elastic and can change shape to safely hold strawberries of different sizes without crushing them.”
解题思路: 根据第三段中“after gripping the fruit, the arm pulls it slightly upward and turns it, making the stem break naturally at the connection point.” A项“pulling and twisting the fruit gently”与此精确对应。故选A项。
解题思路: 根据第四段中“allowing farmers to use standardized data to control the robot easily”以及前文“without training it by themselves”可知,云平台让农民能够轻松操控机器人,且无需自行训练。
解题思路: 文章末段点明主旨:“a vivid example of biology, engineering, and AI working together to solve realworld problems”。
根据第二段“Introverts are generally considered quieter and more reflective than extroverts.(内向者通常被认为比外向者更安静、更善于反思。)”
根据第四段“someone who has adopted the narrative of calling themselves an extrovert may find themselves saying 'yes' to every invitation... have trouble believing they are capable of solitude, disconnecting them from an important part of themselves.(一个自称为外向者的人可能会发现自己对每个邀请都说‘好’……
根据最后一段“personality is rarely fixed to a static set of traits... trying to box yourself into a fixed label can feel unintentionally limiting.(性格很少固化为静态的特质集合……
文章开头指出性格分类是了解自我的基础,随后引出中间性格者概念,并通过两个例子说明固定标签的弊端,最后总结强调“personality is rarely fixed... embracing this flexibility could help you understand yourself better.(性格很少固定不变……

根据上文“Spending time outside offers a refreshing break from screens and schedules. Families gain time to reconnect, breathe fresh air, and enjoy activities that encourage movement and creativity.(花时间在户外提供了一个远离屏幕和日程表的令人神清气爽的休息。 和下文“Spending more time outdoors does not require major planning or expensive gear. A few small changes can help families reconnect with nature, unwind from daily pressures, and build healthy habits that last.(花更多时间在户外不需要大的规划或昂贵的装备。 F选项“Whether you prefer quiet moments or active adventures, stepping outdoors can bring balance back into daily life.(无论你喜欢安静的时刻还是充满活力的冒险,户外活动都能为日常生活找回平衡。)”中“quiet moments”呼应前文的“breathe fresh air”和“reconnect”,“active adventures”呼应前文的“movement”,“bring balance back into daily life”则自然引出后文“小改变带来持久效果”的论述,起到了承上启下的作用。故选F项。
根据上文“You do not need an entire weekend to enjoy nature. A walk around the neighborhood, a bike ride after dinner, or a visit to a nearby park can give everyone a mental reset.(你不需要一整个周末来享受自然。 和下文“These small moments of outdoor time add up over the week.(这些零散的户外时间在一周中累积起来也很有意义。)” G选项“Short breaks also make it easier for kids who struggle with long outings to stay engaged and excited.(短途出游也让那些难以适应长时间外出的孩子更容易保持投入和兴奋。)”中的“also”表明本句是在前文“mental reset”这一好处之外的补充,“kids who struggle with long outings”与后文“these small moments...add up”共同形成“活动列举→成人好处→儿童好处→整体价值”的完整逻辑链。故选G项。
A选项“Try New Activities to Inspire Wonder(尝试新活动激发惊叹)”精准概括了本段主旨,其中“New Activities”涵盖段内列举的所有具体活动,“Inspire Wonder”对应段内“something interesting to explore”和“curiosity”所隐含的探索与惊叹。B选项“Try Outdoor Activities for Better Health”在句式结构上与A高度相似(均以“Try...Activities for...” D选项“However, not every family has the time or energy to plan outdoor adventures.” 故选A项。
A选项“Even small discoveries create memorable moments.(即使是小小的发现也能创造难忘的时刻。)”
根据上文“A change of scenery can inspire more unplugged time. Local hiking trails, botanical gardens, or community nature centers offer new experiences for all ages. Some families plan day trips to lakes or rivers, and others visit a fishing resort for a peaceful escape.(环境的变化可以激发更多的脱离屏幕的时间。 E选项“Exploring unfamiliar places encourages curiosity and reduces the desire to check phones or tablets.(探索不熟悉的地方能激发好奇心,并减少查看手机或平板电脑的欲望。)”在语义上与段首“a change of scenery can inspire more unplugged time”形成首尾呼应——“exploring unfamiliar places”呼应“change of scenery”,“encourages curiosity”呼应“new experiences”,“reduces the desire to check phones or tablets”则与“unplugged time”直接对应,作为全文结尾句起到了总结升华的作用。

A. Therefore因此;B. Besides此外;C. However然而;D.
A. different与…… Being in the field helps me use machines, find problems, and fix them directly"可知,段严严认为下田才能直接解决问题,说明办公室工作与真实农耕之间缺乏实际联系,处于脱节状态。
A. suddenly突然地;B. directly直接地;C. carefully仔细地;D. usually通常地。
A. joined加入;B. left离开;C. started开始;D. visited访问。 故选A项。
A. transformed转变、改造;B. divided划分;C. destroyed摧毁;D. covered覆盖。后文"into rich fields"与"transform...into..." 故选A项。
A. skills技能;B. rules规则;C. methods方法;D. technologies技术。
A. change改变;B. monitor监测;C. increase增加;D. reduce减少。
A. checks检查;B. records记录;C. improves提高、改善;D. measures测量。
A. drop下降;B. rise上升;C. stop停止;D. stay保持。 故选A项。
A. harms伤害;B. tests测试;C. needs需要;D. helps帮助。
A. tools工具;B. varieties品种;C. machines机器;D. fertilizers肥料。
A. believe相信;B. accept接受;C. doubt怀疑;D. grow种植、生长。 But showing them yield data after each harvest helps them trust us"中的"But"和"trust"可知,前后构成对比——过去"怀疑",现在"信任"。故选C项。
A. witness见证;B. trust信任;C. teach教授;D. follow跟随。
故选A项。
A. assess评估;B. share分享;C. use使用;D. develop开发。

59.various
60.requiring
61.rarely
63.popularity
63.where
64.an
65.with

1.M: Honey, I think I left my key at work. I can’t get in.
W: Oh no. I’m still at the office... I won’t be back for an hour.
M: Should I just wait outside?
W: Actually, why don’t you ask Mrs. Liu next door? I gave her a spare key last month.
2. M: Look at those dark clouds. I feel like it’s going to rain any minute.
W: I noticed the clouds too, but actually it’s quite warm.
M: True. It’s much better than yesterday.
3.W: I think Alfred made the right decision to leave Los Angeles. He is under a lot of stress here.
M: But he won’t have many job chances if he goes back to his hometown Lexington.
W: He said he might move to Chicago.
4. M: Congratulations! I’m so excited to see you win the championship in the national finals! You ran so fast in the last leg!
W: Thanks! Our relay team was amazing! We all worked hard for this and all those tough practices finally paid off.
5. M: The kids are always on their phones. We should really do something.
W: I agree. But you know, we’re also on our screens a lot.
M: So what should we do?
W: Maybe we should try using our phones less first, before we ask them to.

6.M: Let’s head for the exit. The museum closes at 6:00 p.m. We only have 20 minutes left.
W: Finally! My feet are killing me after all that walking. I can’t wait to sit down in a cafe.
M: Just follow this path. We’ll pass the gift shop on the way. I’d like to pick up some gifts for my sister and you can rest there.
W: OK. Let’s hurry up!
7.W: Mr. Carter, thanks for joining us today. We’re really excited to hear about your latest project.
M: My pleasure. I always enjoy reading your tech news.
W: That’s great to hear. So, could you tell us a bit about what you’re working on right now?
M: Sure. We’re developing a new AI tool designed to help students with their homework — especially in math and science. We’re planning to test it in a local school next month.
W: That sounds really useful. What do you enjoy most about this kind of work?
M: Well, creating new technology is always fun, but for me, the best part is knowing that what we build can actually make a difference in someone’s life — especially students who might be struggling.
W: So it’s really about helping people, not just the technology itself.
M: Exactly. My brother works in finance and earns more, but I wouldn’t trade my job for anything. Seeing students learn better — that’s what keeps me going.
8.M: Wow, you’ve got so many plants! I never knew you were into gardening.
W: Yeah, I started about five years ago. It happened kind of by accident, actually.
M: Really? How so?
W: Well, my old neighbor was moving away, and she couldn’t take all her potted plants with her. So she asked if I wanted them.
M: That was nice of her.
W: Yeah, I wasn’t really interested at first. Back then, I was only ten — all I wanted was a small animal! A little fox, or maybe a dog…even a rabbit would have been exciting!
M: Haha, plants must have seemed pretty boring then.
W: They did! But once I started taking care of them, I really grew to like it. It’s very calming.
M: Some of these look pretty unusual — like these over here.
W: Oh, those are desert plants. They’re harder to keep, but I think they’re worth it.
M: Do you buy them locally?
W: Sometimes, but I also grow a lot from seeds or cuttings right here at home.
9.M: Hey, is this where we hand in our art projects?
W: Looks like it. Wow, look at all these works! There’s Paul’s light-operated lamp… and oh — that wind bell over there!
M: Yeah, that’s Laura’s. It changes with the seasons — really creative.
W: I still think your wooden robotic hand is the coolest. It might win the competition.
M: Thanks! But it’s up to the judges. By the way, this thing is heavy — I need to put it down somewhere.
W: How about this table? It says “Display Table” right here.
M: Good idea. Where are you going to put yours?
W: Hmm... I wanted to put it next to Harry’s star map, but there’s a heater right below. If it gets too warm, my clay pots might break.
M: True. Well, the teacher’s desk is empty. You could ask if it’s okay to put it there.
W: I’ll just use that shelf in the corner. It’s away from the heat and still easy to see.
10.Good morning. Today I want to tell you about Clay Bay, a small beach with a special story. It got its name because the shore used to be covered with smooth, colorful pieces of clay and pottery. These came from years of people throwing away unwanted things there. The dumping started around 1910. Clay Bay was the last of three such places along this coast. It was the busiest from 1943 to 1961 — about 18 years in total. Then people stopped dumping, and most rubbish was removed, but the clay pieces remained, worn smooth by the sea. People began collecting them or using them in art. Around 2003, the local government took over and made it part of a seaside park. Now visitors are asked not to take the clay away, so everyone can enjoy it. To me, Clay Bay shows how a place can change. It reminds us that with new ways of thinking, we can live in better harmony with nature. That’s what I hope for in the years to come.
