A
For the first time ever, mosquitoes have been found in Iceland. This small Nordic country was one of the last places on Earth without mosquitoes. Last month, an insect lover noticed a strange fly on a ribbon (缎带) at a farm. “I thought it was a mosquito and quickly caught it. It was a female,” he said. Later, he caught two more—one male and one female. All three were sent to scientists for testing.
The mosquitoes were a type called Culiseta annulata They are common in Europe and some Nordic countries. Scientists said the insects probably came to Iceland on a ship. They also noted that these mosquitoes can survive in Iceland’s cold weather. In recent years, more new insects have appeared in Iceland because the weather is getting warmer and more goods are arriving from other countries.
These mosquitoes bite (咬) people, but they do not carry any known diseases in Iceland. Experts described them as “a nuisance that bites, but not a deadly danger”. There are more than 3,000 types of mosquitoes in the world. Some can spread serious diseases.
Now, Antarctica (南极洲) is the only place without mosquitoes. Climate change is causing temperatures to rise all over the world. The Arctic (北极) is warming more than twice as fast as the rest of the Earth. Rising temperatures and more human travel mean mosquitoes and other insects can reach places where they never lived before. For Icelanders, finding mosquitoes for the first time is a sign that even the most far-away places are beginning to feel the effects of a changing planet.
11.Where were the mosquitoes first found in Iceland?
A.At a farm. B.On a ship. C.In a forest. D.Near the Arctic.
12.What can we learn about Culiseta annulata?
A.They can spread serious diseases. B.They are a new type of mosquito.
C.They can live in cold weather. D.They are only found in Iceland.
13.What does the underlined word “nuisance” in Paragraph 3 probably mean?
A.Something annoying. B.Something dangerous.
C.Something helpful. D.Something unusual.
14.Why have more new insects appeared in Iceland in recent years?
A.Because there are more farms now. B.Because the weather is getting warmer.
C.Because the insects are getting stronger. D.Because people are bringing them as pets.
15.What is the main idea of the passage?
A.Mosquitoes in Iceland can carry diseases.
B.Iceland will have more and more mosquitoes.
C.Scientists have found a new kind of mosquito.
D.Climate change is helping mosquitoes spread to new places.
11.A 12.C 13.A 14.B 15.D
第一段指出“an insect lover noticed a strange fly on a ribbon at a farm.‘I thought it was a mosquito and quickly caught it.’”,直接说明蚊子最早是在一处农场被发现的。
12.第二段提到“They also noted that these mosquitoes can survive in Iceland’s cold weather.”,表明环纹库蚊能够在寒冷环境下生存。
13.第三段“Experts described them as ‘a nuisance that bites, but not a deadly danger’.”后半句“but not a deadly danger”做转折限定,说明该事物只是咬人、“让人困扰”,没有生命危险,所以nuisance与A项“Something annoying”同义。
14.第二段说明“In recent years, more new insects have appeared in Iceland because the weather is getting warmer and more goods are arriving from other countries.”,明确近年冰岛出现更多新昆虫的核心原因是气候变暖。
B
It was a bit cold. I was coaching a group of kids to play soccer. This was our first practice, and the kids were all wearing extra (额外的) clothes to keep warm.
I started by helping the kids get to know each other better. We went up and down the row a few times, and each kid said his or her name and the names of all the kids sitting to the left.
After a few minutes of this, I thought of a challenge for the kids. I asked if any of them knew all the other kids’names on the team. A brave six-year-old named Alex felt up to the challenge.
Alex started off and was doing very well until he reached Ben, the smallest kid on the team. Alex said Ben’s name and reached out his right hand, ▲ .
I looked at Ben for a second, as did Alex and the rest of the kids, but he just sat there, his right hand hidden under the cuff (袖口) of his jacket.
“Ben, why don’t you shake hands with Alex?” I asked. But Ben just sat there, saying nothing.
“Ben, what’s the matter?” I asked.
Finally Ben stood up, looked up at me and said, “But Coach, I don’t have a right hand.” He unzipped (拉开……的拉链) his jacket, pulling it away from his right shoulder.
Sure enough, Ben’s arm stopped at the elbow (肘部). No fingers, no hand. I stood still and couldn’t think of anything to say or what to do.
“Look at that,” said Alex.
“Hey, what happened to your arm?” another asked.
“Does it hurt?”
Before I knew it, a crowd of ten players encircled Ben as he took off his jacket. Ben calmly explained that he had always been that way and that there was nothing special about him because of it. He wanted to be treated like everybody else.
From that day on, he was never the kid with one arm. He was just Ben, one of the players on the team.
16.What did the writer do at first?
A.He asked the kids to stand in a circle.
B.He ordered the kids to take off their jackets.
C.He taught the kids how to kick the ball.
D.He helped the kids know each other better.
17.Which of the following can be put in ▲ ?
A.and Ben smiled back B.but Ben just stood up
C.and Ben said Alex’s name D.but Ben didn’t reach out his
18.How might the writer be feeling when he knew Ben didn’t have a right hand?
A.Angry. B.Moved. C.Surprised. D.Worried.
19.How did the team treat Ben according to the last paragraph?
A.They seldom passed the ball to him. B.They provided him with a lot of help.
C.They laughed at his physical disability. D.They accepted him as a normal member.
20.What can we learn about Ben?
A.He was the quietest child on the team.
B.He didn’t consider himself to be special.
C.He lost his arm in a serious car accident.
D.He always wore jackets to hide his elbow.
第二段第一句提到行为:“I started by helping the kids get to know each other better”,说明作者首先做的事情是帮助孩子们互相认识。
17.根据上下文语境,Alex伸出手想要握手,但第五段提到Ben把手藏在袖口里坐在那里,第六段教练问“why don’t you shake hands”,因此空格处应表示Ben没有伸出手回应,D选项“but Ben didn’t reach out his”符合逻辑和语境。
18.第九段指出作者的反应:“I stood still and couldn’t think of anything to say or what to do”,说明作者当时的反应是愣住了,表现出惊讶和不知所措。
19.最后一段指出了大家的做法:“From that day on, he was never the kid with one arm. He was just Ben, one of the players on the team”,说明队员们接受了他,把他当作普通成员对待。

Several years ago, a gallery in Australia was selling hand-painted copies of Vincent Van Gogh’s work. Even though they were very close to those original (原创的) old works of Van Gogh, they were just hand-painted copies, nothing more or less. So, even though they were produced with brushes and paint, did that really make them originals? The answer is clearly no; there was nothing at all original about them. And the same goes for those painted copies of Old Masters sold online. They may look beautiful, but they are still copies. They bring no new ideas.
Copying is a legal (合法的) way of learning how to paint. For a long time, art students have copied famous works to get better. It is a useful way to practice. Unluckily, some painters never get out of the habit and if it leads to success, then for them it is reasonable. Copying not only the style, the subject matter but particular use of colour of noted artists is becoming widespread and some painters are personally benefiting from it. They sell these works and some even become famous.
A while ago, a copy of a well-known artist, both in style and subject, won a prize. A few years ago, a painter did an exact traced copy of an award-winning photo; the painting won first prize and caused a lot of bad feeling all round. Many people thought it was unfair. Such art should not be worthy of a prize, but somehow it gets the nod from judges (裁判) even when the copying is easy to see, and such artists do accept the praise for an image that has been copied to the last detail.
Artists who copy seem to be encouraged by social media, online galleries and more. People on these sites often do not know that the work is copied from someone else. Moreover, some publications not only call them great artists but pretend (假装) that the work is their own when in fact they can hardly find any new ideas of their own.
It is true that most copying by hobby painters does not hurt the careers of real artists. However, when someone copies another person’s work and then says it is completely their own, that is not honest. Art is not just about brushwork or colour. It is about expressing something that comes from within you. Copying can help you learn, but it will never tell you what you yourself want to say.
21.What fact is mentioned at the beginning of the passage?
A.Copied works are easy to be famous. B.Original paintings are difficult to find.
C.Copied paintings are on sale in a gallery. D.Hand-painted copies are real originals.
22.What is the writer’s opinion about copyists getting prizes?
A.It is unacceptable at all. B.It is an encouragement.
C.It values good painting skills. D.It is not supported by law.
23.Why does copying become widely popular?
A.Many people like such artworks. B.Social media helps copyists get noticed.
C.Publications prove these works are original. D.Copying surely brings artists success.
24.What can we learn about copying from the passage?
A.It is the only way to become a good painter. B.It is easy for artists to create new works.
C.It easily harms the real artists’ careers. D.It helps art students learn painting skills.
25.What can we infer from the passage?
A.Famous artists never copy others’ paintings.
B.Copied works can be seen as real art easily
C.Real art should include artists’ own ideas.
D.People should stop copying in their learning.
【答案】21.C 22.A 23.B 24.D 25.C
第一段“Several years ago, a gallery in Australia was selling hand-painted copies of Vincent Van Gogh’s work.”
22.第三段“Many people thought it was unfair. Such art should not be worthy of a prize, but somehow it gets the nod from judges (裁判) even when the copying is easy to see, and such artists do accept the praise for an image that has been copied to the last detail.”
23.第四段“Artists who copy seem to be encouraged by social media, online galleries and more.”
24.第二段“Copying is a legal (合法的) way of learning how to paint. For a long time, art students have copied famous works to get better.”
25.最后一段“It is about expressing something that comes from within you. Copying can help you learn, but it will never tell you what you yourself want to say.”
We all love our phones, but using them too much can cause problems. Did you know most people check their phones over 50 times a day? Many teens feel uneasy when they don’t have their phones nearby. 26
Firstly, a good way to use your phone less is to pick a special time each day. Choose 30 minutes after school just for phone use. 27 For example, focus on watching videos, messaging friends, or playing games on your phone. But when time’s up, put your phone away.
Next, fight those phone notifications (通知). 28 This simple change reduces the brain’s urge (欲望) to “check it now”. Without these, you won’t be pulled to check your phone every minute. Your brain will thank you for giving it a break.
29 Keep your phone out of these three places: the dinner table, your bed and study areas. Try the “Doorway Method”: Leave your phone by the front door when you get home, and only check it there when truly needed.
Scientists found about 1/3 of phone time is just a habit, not because it’s fun. That’s why the methods are mentioned above. 30 And you can have more time to read, play outside, or try a new hobby.
A.Your eyes may feel uncomfortable.
B.Here’s how to cut down your phone use.
C.Turn off all of them except for important ones.
D.Lastly, find a place where phones aren’t allowed.
E.During this time, really focus on what you’ re doing.
F.By making these changes, you can save over 2 hours daily.
【答案】26.B 27.E 28.C 29.D 30.F

根据前文“Did you know most people check their phones over 50 times a day? Many teens feel uneasy when they don’t have their phones nearby.”可知,前文指出人们过度使用手机的现象,后文“Firstly, a good way to use your phone less is to pick a special time each day.” B选项“Here’s how to cut down your phone use.”
27.根据前文“Choose 30 minutes after school just for phone use.”以及后文“For example, focus on watching videos, messaging friends, or playing games on your phone. But when time’s up, put your phone away.” E选项“During this time, really focus on what you’re doing.”
28.根据前文“fight those phone notifications”以及后文“This simple change reduces the brain’s urge to ‘check it now’.” C选项“Turn off all of them except for important ones.”承接前文“fight those phone notifications”,具体说明应对通知的方法,与后文“This simple change”中的“this”形成指代关系,逻辑连贯。
29.根据后文“Keep your phone out of these three places: the dinner table, your bed and study areas. Try the ‘Doorway Method’...” D选项“Lastly, find a place where phones aren’t allowed.”作为该段的主题句,概括了后文“Keep your phone out of these three places”的核心内容,且“Lastly”与上文“Firstly”、“Next”形成清晰的逻辑顺序,承上启下。
30.根据前文“Scientists found about 1/3 of phone time is just a habit, not because it’s fun. That’s why the methods are mentioned above.”以及后文“And you can have more time to read, play outside, or try a new hobby.” F选项“By making these changes, you can save over 2 hours daily.”承接前文提到的“methods”,用“these changes”指代上文的所有建议,并引出后文“have more time to...”

Dear Editor,
I’m Li Hua. I’m writing to share my ideas on “Love You, My Dear Self”.
Loving ourselves is of great importance. It not only helps us keep a positive attitude but also contributes to our overall mental health.
To achieve this, I plan to take action in two ways. Physically, I will maintain a healthy lifestyle by exercising regularly and keeping a balanced and healthy diet. Mentally, I intend to develop some interests, such as reading and listening to music, which can effectively reduce my stress.

14.Why have more new insects appeared in Iceland in recent years?
A.Because there are more farms now. B.Because the weather is getting warmer.

A.Mosquitoes in Iceland can carry diseases.
B.Iceland will have more and more mosquitoes.

D.Climate change is helping mosquitoes spread to new places.
