Cai’s life journey changed because of a terrible 2 in 2014. His right leg was cut off at once, and his left leg was broken. He fell into a 35-day coma (昏迷). For three years, doctors tried hard to 3 his left leg, but each small improvement was followed by another 4 operation.
In late 2017, Cai made an unbelievable choice: he asked doctors to remove his left leg. “It wasn’t 5 ,” he said. “I just couldn’t keep lying to myself.” The decision brought him “complete freedom”.
In 2018, Cai started using prosthetics and relearned to walk. He tried different jobs, yet all ended in 6 . Taking his mother’s advice to slow down, he attended training programs and won a national championship in tea art in 2023.
That 7 gave him the confidence to found a prosthetics company the same year. He cared more about the disadvantaged groups and about 40 percent of his workers are 8 . As a prosthetic user himself, he understood users’ pain points. His products are quite popular and some of his 9 include many famous stars like Jiang Yuyan, who won seven gold medals at the Paris 2024 Summer Paralympic Games (残奥会).
Cai has also followed his athletic dream, joining China’s first disabled golf team in 2025. What interests him most is to travel as a(an) 10 speaker, who often shares his belief: “Keep being brave.”

speeding up“加速”;standing up“站起来”;making up“编造”无法体现这种心理抉择的逻辑。
此处指代前文“won a national championship in tea art”,获得冠军属于一种成就,achievement“成就”符合语境。
根据前文“cares more about the disadvantaged groups”及他自身是假肢使用者可知,他雇佣残疾人,disabled符合帮助弱势群体的主题。
A couple of months ago, my parents gave me a mobile phone as a gift. I kept my eyes focused on its 1 all summer and forgot all around me. So when my dad said “This year, we’ll 2 something special. We’re going camping!” I felt 3 .
It wasn’t my dream vacation. I kept 4 on the way. In fact, I was lost in the screen. When we drove across a bridge, I looked up 5 my phone no longer had service.
“I’ve 6 a campsite (宿营地) without mobile phone service,” my dad said, “and your phone will be useless until we 7 home.” That night, I went to bed angrily at the campsite. But when I woke up in the morning and heard the birds singing, I felt cosy (惬意的) and relaxed. I found that the more I let myself become a part of 8 , the more I focused on myself.
During those four days, I hiked, swam and fished. I saw the brightest stars and smelled the freshest air. My dad told me stories of his life...Time passed so quickly that I didn’t think of my 9 at all. Why would I? What could be 10 than the moments I was sharing with my family and nature?
Ever since then, whenever I feel I need a break, I pack up my things and drive until my phone shows: “No service.”

上文提到父母送手机作礼物,后文“I was lost in the screen.”
后文“In fact, I was lost in the screen.”,说明路上全程沉默玩手机,不和家人交流。
前半句“I looked up”,后半句“my phone no longer had service”,后半句是抬头这个动作的原因,存在因果逻辑。
空后出现比较级标志词“than”,后文“the moments I was sharing with my family and nature”表达作者认为和家人、自然相伴是极好的体验。

There wasn’t a single person on the beach who hadn’t heard of CrazyClaws. He was the greatest enemy of toes (脚趾) on this side of the ocean. Every year, a careless tourist would get a big pinch from him and never come back again. Scared swimmers often tried to catch him, but every time they thought they had succeeded, another pinch told them they had caught the wrong crab.
CrazyClaws was clever but unkind. Unlike other crabs, he would hide in the sand and prepare his attack. He always got cross easily. As a baby crab, he was stepped on by a child and lost a leg. It grew back but was shorter than his other legs. Whenever he looked at it, anger and sadness quickly rose in him.
One day, he noticed a big fat shiny toe hardly moving. “Easy!” he thought. He remembered the pinching steps: come out, move forward, pinch, release, go back, and disappear into the sand again. “Go and get it!”
Something went wrong, however. He failed in the fourth step and couldn’t release the toe. His pinch was so strong that he broke through the skin—but there was no blood. It was a trick!
“No one can be that clever!” CrazyClaws cried as always.
The false toe belonged to a girl named Vera. She also lost her leg in an accident when she was little. She didn’t realize her toe was pinched until she came out of the water.
“Oh, you poor thing!” Vera said. She freed him, but he didn’t run away—he was scared to death. Vera noticed his shorter leg and felt sorry for him, so she wanted to help. She made him a wonderful little house with rocks and brought him small animals to eat.
“Lovely girl,” CrazyClaws thought that night. “I’d like to be just as nice as her. If only I didn’t have this little leg…”
It was at that moment he realized that Vera’s leg had never grown back like crabs. She only had one leg, yet she was still kind. He could certainly be a happy crab even though he had been through very difficult times.
The very next day and every day after that summer, CrazyClaws attacked Vera’s toe again—but just to play. Together they learned to turn pinches into tickles, and anger into laughter.
1.Why was CrazyClaws always a little angry?
A.He always failed to pinch people. B.He was often caught by swimmers.
C.He got hurt when he was little. D.He had crab enemies on the beach.
2.What does the underlined word “release” mean?
A.Let go. B.Catch again.
C.Step on. D.Break into pieces.
3.Why did CrazyClaws attack Vera for fun later?
A.Vera had a false leg like him. B.Vera taught him to care for himself.
C.Vera was brave to fight with him. D.Vera was like him but still offered help.
4.What does the story mainly want to tell us?
A.Gold always shines. B.Hardships come, but kindness remains.
C.It’s never too late to start. D.Don’t bite the hand that feeds you.
【答案】1.C 2.A 3.D 4.B
1.第二段明确指出:“As a baby crab, he was stepped on by a child and lost a leg. ... Whenever he looked at it, anger and sadness quickly rose in him.”
2.根据第三段中的步骤“come out, move forward, pinch, release, go back”(出来,向前,夹住,____,回去)以及第四段中提到他夹住了假脚趾无法松开(couldn’t release the toe),可知 release在此处意为“松开,放开”,与Let go同义。
3.倒数第二段指出“he realized that Vera’s leg had never grown back like crabs. She only had one leg, yet she was still kind.”,Vera和他一样身体有残缺,但依然选择帮助他。

Scientists have shown that humans appear to have an ability to understand the signs of apes.
As we all know, humans use words to talk to each other. But we also point, nod, and use our hands to show what we mean. We’ve been doing this for tens of thousands of years.
Apes have their own system of gestures to show what they mean. Chimpanzees and bonobos (倭黑猩猩) are two kinds of apes that are the closest to humans. They use about 80 different gestures to show what they mean. For example, a gesture the researchers call “big loud scratch” means “help pick insects off me”.
Scientists have learned the meanings of these gestures by studying chimpanzees and bonobos for years. Besides, scientists have studied how apes use gestures. But no one had studied whether humans could understand the gestures of apes.
Researchers Kirsty Graham and Catherine Hobaiter at the University of St. Andrews decided to test this idea. They wanted to see if humans with no training or experience could understand the gestures of chimpanzees and bonobos. The researchers created a game for people to play online. The game was simple. People watched short videos of apes making a gesture. Then they had to choose the correct meaning of the gesture out of four possible answers. Thousands of people played the game.
The researchers were surprised to find that people were able to choose the correct meaning of the gestures over 50% of the time. For some of the gestures, people were able to choose the correct meaning about 80% of the time. The scientists believe that humans may have a natural ability to understand the gestures of apes. But it’s not clear why.
Humans and other apes all developed from an earlier kind of ape that lived long ago. One possibility is that the body language of these gestures has been passed down from this shared ancestor (祖先) . Another possibility is that the gestures are a natural result of humans and apes sharing similar body shapes and needing to communicate similar ideas. It’s also possible that the gestures simply look like the actions they are requesting.
The researchers say that they need to study how humans are able to understand the gestures of apes. They’re also curious about how humans understand’ other animals, like dogs.

Most 15-year-olds are busy with homework, but Lu Yulong was busy building a plasma speaker Born in 1995 in China, this young inventor later became famous as the “Lightning Man”. But his journey was not easy. When he was 12, a chemistry experiment went wrong and he was badly hurt. However, he did not give up. By 16, he had already built a plasma speaker and gotten a national patent (专利)!
Instead of going to a top university, Lu chose to start his own company, Yulong Aerospace. In February 2026, his team successfully launched a 12-meter liquid rocket named “Shenzhen Pioneer.” It flew 3.7 kilometers high.
So, what makes Lu special? He wants to make space travel very cheap. How? He uses common things like metal parts and everyday computer chips. He does not copy traditional rocket designs. Instead, he uses a simpler way called the “pressure-fed cycle,” which saves a lot of money. His goal is to send one kilogram of things into space for only 480 US dollars. That is much cheaper than SpaceX’s Falcon 9, which is a rocket made by an American company called SpaceX!
Another secret to Lu’s success is location. His company is in Shenzhen, a city with thousands of factories. Need a metal part? There is a factory nearby. Need a computer chip? Another factory can make it fast and cheap. Instead of buying expensive “space-grade” parts, Lu uses cheaper “industrial-grade” parts. He believes that building rockets should be like building cars—using factories to make many of them at a low cost.
Lu does not want to be called “China’s Elon Musk”. He says, “I just want to be Yulong from China.” By using the powerful factories in Shenzhen, he is building a new path for China’s space industry. His story tells us: you don’t need to come from a big name to reach for the stars. You just need a big dream—and the courage to build it yourself.
1.Which of the following is one of Lu Yulong’s secrets to success?
A.He follows traditional rocket designs.
B.He got a national patent at the age of 16.
C.He studied at a world-famous top university.
D.He makes good use of Shenzhen’s local factories.
2.Which is Lu’s way of cutting down the cost of rockets?
A.By making use of simpler designs. B.By copying traditional rocket designs.
C.By producing all the parts by himself. D.By choosing cheaper “industrial-grade” parts.
3.What can we learn from Lu’s words, “I just want to be Yulong from China”?
A.He wishes to just stay in China.
B.He doesn’t like Elon Musk at all.
C.He wants to have a bigger name than this.
D.He is proud of himself and his motherland.
4.Why does the writer write this passage?
A.To compare Lu Yulong with Elon Musk.
B.To explain how to build a rocket step by step.
C.To encourage young people to follow their dreams.
D.To introduce the history of China’s space industry.

Mrs. Rachel Lynde had come to see the orphan (孤儿) girl. After staring at Anne from head to toe, she said, “You’re terribly thin! Did anyone ever see hair as red as carrots?”
Anne’s face turned red. “How dare you!” she cried, hitting the floor with her foot. “I hate you! You are a rude, unkind woman!” Then she ran upstairs and shut the door hard.
That evening, Anne’s guardian (监护人) Matthew went quietly upstairs. “Anne,” he said, “don’t you think you’d better do it and get it over with? Mrs. Lynde will never give in.”
Anne thought for a moment. “I think I could do it if it would please you, Matthew. It would be true enough to say I am sorry, because I am sorry now. I wasn’t a bit sorry last night. I was so angry that I could not sleep. But this morning it was over.”
“You’ll feel better after,” said Matthew. “You’ll soon forget it.”
The next afternoon, they went to Mrs. Lynde’s. When they entered, Anne suddenly went down on her knees before the surprised Mrs. Rachel and held out her hands.
“Oh, Mrs. Lynde,” she cried, “I am really sorry. I could never express all my sadness—no, not if I used up a whole dictionary. I was very bad to you, and I have let down Matthew, who has let me stay here. It was very wrong of me to get so angry because you told me the truth. My hair is red, and I am skinny and not pretty. What I said to you was true too, but I should not have said it. Oh, Mrs. Lynde, please forgive me. If you refuse, it will be a lifelong sadness to a poor little orphan girl.”
“There, there, get up, child,” Mrs. Lynde said heartily. “Of course I forgive you. I guess I was a little too hard on you, anyway.”

Henry, a thirteen-year-old boy, lived under a bridge in a village of potters (陶工) in ancient Korea. He shared his home with Crane-man, an old man with a lame (跛脚的) leg who had cared for him since he was a baby. Henry’s greatest wish was to learn how to make celadon (青瓷) pottery, the beautiful green ceramic (陶瓷作品) that made the village famous.
Every morning, Henry slipped away to watch Min, the most skilled potter in the village, work at his wheel. He stood hidden behind a bamboo screen, breathing in the smell of wet clay and listening to the sound of the spinning wheel. One day, Min caught him watching. “Go away!” the potter shouted, waving his hands. Henry bowed deeply and left, but he did not stop coming.
Weeks later, Henry made a mistake. He reached out to touch a newly finished celadon vase, and it slipped from his fingers, breaking into a dozen pieces. He froze, then went down to his knees to collect the pieces. “I will work for you without pay,” he said to Min, “until I have made up for the damage.”
Min stared at him for a long time. Finally, he nodded. For the next three months, Henry did the hardest work in the potter’s yard: chopping wood, carrying water, and digging clay. He never complained, even when Min refused to teach him a single thing about pottery. Crane-man noticed his tiredness and said, “Patience, Henry. The potter who rushes to shape the clay will only make an imperfect bowl.”
One evening, Min’s wife, Min Jeong, found Henry sitting by the oven, studying the way the fire changed the clay’s color. She smiled and handed him a warm bowl of rice. “He sees your heart,” she said quietly. Henry looked up, hope rising in his chest.

During a difficult week at work, Maxine found herself typing a simple request, “Can you give me a pep talk?” The answer didn’t come from a friend, but from an AI chatbot. “I hear you,” it wrote. “You’ve got this.” Even though the chatbot had no real feelings, Maxine felt comforted.
Today, more and more people are turning to AI for friendship or even life partners. A recent report suggests that almost one in five people in the UK has asked AI for help on personal problems. But why is this happening, and is it safe for our emotional health?
Any sense of emotional connection with AI is actually a result of clever programming. These AI systems are trained on huge amounts of human-produced texts. They are designed to mirror human communication patterns, making them seem caring and understanding. They can recall details from past talks and use warm language to create a sense of intimacy.
This growing dependence on AI comes at a time of a “loneliness epidemic (流行病).” In 2025, a survey found that 25% of adults feel lonely often. With limited chances to meet people in person, the dependable company of an AI seems more attractive than ever.
However, AI relationships have weaknesses. Most AI services are built to keep users engaged for money. They use responses that encourage people to keep talking, which can lead to unhealthy connections. Also, AI models often try to agree with whatever we say. While this makes them “good listeners”, it can turn our talks into an “echo chamber” of acceptance. We might lose the chance to develop key social skills, such as managing arguments or hearing different opinions.
AI is here to stay. The goal is to learn how to use it as a supporting tool, rather than as a replacement for real human connection. As Maxine suggests, we should remember that AI responses are unreal. It is important to know when to step away and reconnect with the real world.
1.Why do many people turn to AI according to the passage?
A.AI chatbots can wholly replace real friends.
B.AI chatbots cost less money than real relationships
C.People feel lonely and lack real social connections.
D.People feel tired and want to test new technology for fun.
2.What does the underlined word “intimacy” in paragraph 3 probably mean?
A.distance B.success C.pressure D.closeness
3.What may happen if people depend too much on AI chatbots?
A.They may prefer chatting with people.
B.They may give up using online information.
C.They may find real relationships more challenging.
D.They may become more confident in social situations.
4.Which would be the best title for the passage?
A.The History of AI Chatbots
B.AI: A New Light or a New Risk?
C.How to Train Your Own AI Partner
D.The End of Loneliness in the Digital Age
【答案】1.C 2.D 3.C 4.B

What is a grassland?
A grassland is a biome (生物群落区) that is covered with grasses. Grass is everything to a grassland. Grass is food for animals. Grass can keep the grassland warm and wet. Grass stops the wind from blowing away the soil.
There are two kinds of grasslands. Temperate grasslands are one kind. Temperate means the environment has a mild climate (温和气候) and four seasons. Temperate grasslands have rich soil. Tropical grasslands are the other kind. Tropical means the environment is near the equator and is warm all year round. Tropical grasslands have a rainy season and a dry season. They usually have more trees and poorer soil than temperate grasslands.
Both temperate and tropical grasslands have a yearly rainfall of approximately 25 to 75 centimeters. During the dry season, with so little rain, the land can dry out. Fires can start easily.
What adaptations (适应性) help grassland plants and animals survive?
Different grasslands have different kinds of grasses. However, nearly all grassland grasses have adaptations to growing well in dry conditions.
Grasses have deep roots. The roots can take in water and keep nutrients (营养). When a fire happens, everything above ground is destroyed. Down below, the roots survive. They hold on to their water and nutrients.
After a fire, new stalks can grow from the roots. The old, dead grass becomes part of the soil. Gradually, the soil gets richer and richer.
Most grasses have adaptations to growing from the roots. This helps them survive and grow after animals eat the tops of the plants.
Trees that grow in tropical grasslands also have adaptations that help them survive. For example, the baobab tree grows leaves only during the wet season. It loses its leaves during the dry season.
Many kinds of animals live in grasslands. All of them have adaptations that help them survive. Some grassland animals have flat teeth for eating grass. For example, with their flat teeth, zebras bite off the tops of grasses that are difficult to chew.

Most people ask when my love for nature began. I find the question difficult to answer. As far back as I can remember, nature has simply been part of me. I was lucky to grow up with a supportive family and a close connection with nature.
My name is Jane Goodall. I was born in London, England in 1934. By the time I was ten, I made up my mind that one day I would live with wild animals in Africa. At the time, this dream seemed silly. Scientific careers were not considered suitable for girls, and studies of animals in the wild were almost unheard of. The idea was also thought to be dangerous. Yet, even as a child, I knew what I wanted, and I was determined to work hard, take every chance, and never give up. I held onto that belief.
Although I did well at school, my family couldn’t afford to send me to university, so I took a typing course and worked in London. Years later, that practical training turned out to be quite useful. When a friend invited me to Kenya, I saved enough money to go. There, I met Louis Leakey, who was looking for a new assistant. My preparation and love for African wildlife earned me not only the job, but also a chance to study chimpanzees in the wild.
The work was far from easy. In the early months, the chimpanzees ran away at the sight of me. Then one of them gradually lost his fear. Through him, I found something surprising: he made tools out of grass stems. At the time, tool-making was considered something only humans could do. This discovery drew worldwide attention.
After two years, Dr. Leakey said he’d got me a place in Cambridge. What upset me most was that scientists there said I’d done everything wrong. I shouldn’t have given the chimpanzees names. I shouldn’t talk about their personalities or emotions, either — because at the time, these qualities were believed to be unique (独特的) to humans. Instead of doubting myself, I chose to stand by what I had seen and felt. I knew from my experience that these animals were far more complex than people thought. I refused to stay silent about the truth I had discovered.
Thanks to both the 98.6% DNA similarity between humans and chimpanzees and my years of careful research on their behavior, the scientists had to give up the long-held idea that humans are the only beings who can feel and experience the world.
1.根据第二段关键句“Scientific careers were not considered suitable for girls, and studies of animals in the wild were almost unheard of”,说明当时科学职业被认为不适合女孩,而且在野外研究动物几乎是闻所未闻的,故当时女孩从事科学工作并不常见,这使得她的梦想看起来不可能。
2.根据第五段关键句“Instead of doubting myself, I chose to stand by what I had seen and felt. ... I refused to stay silent about the truth I had discovered”,说明她没有怀疑自己,而是选择坚持她所看到和感受到的……
①Among the world’s most mysterious artworks stands The Lute Player (《鲁特琴演奏者》), painted by the Italian artist Caravaggio. Of three very similar paintings, there has been general agreement that the paintings held by Russia’s Hermitage Museum and France’s Wildenstein Collection were created by the artist, while the one at Britain’s Badminton House is only a copy.
②But artificial intelligence (AI) disagreed. In September 2025, Swiss AI company Art Recognition said there’s an almost 86 percent chance that the painting in Britain is real, while the one in France is likely a copy.
③This event shows AI’s new role in deciding whether an artwork is real. Before, only human experts could do this by using their deep knowledge of artists and modern technologies such as infrared imaging Today, AI might serve as another helpful tool for experts. The technology can study small details from images of artworks and compare them with real works by the same artist. This way, it can find differences that humans and other tools might miss.
④However, many experts don’t fully trust AI. They pointed out that AI can give results without explaining how it reached them. Also, as for the technology, both the data (数据) and quality of painting images can influence its results. The Art Newspaper reported that proper AI training can require thousands of images, but few artists have produced that many works. Artists may also change their styles suddenly, but AI that only looks for fixed patterns can easily make mistakes.
⑤So, neither AI nor humans can be completely certain about their judgments (判断). Instead, AI should be used together with human knowledge and scientific testing to reach the most correct results. “I strongly believe that the best way to check art in the future is for AI and experts to team up.” Art Recognition’s CEO Carina Popovici told ARTnews.
1.What is the traditional opinion about the three similar paintings?
A.The painting in Britain was the only real one.
B.The paintings in Russia and France were considered as real.
C.All the paintings were copies created by later artists.
D.All the paintings were drawn by Caravaggio in different times.
2.What does the underlined phrase “This way” in Paragraph 3 refer to?
A.Studying details and comparing artworks. B.Using some special technology.
C.Depending on experts’ rich knowledge. D.Finding differences by human eyes.
3.What does Paragraph 4 mainly talk about?
A.The importance of data quality in AI training.
B.The reasons why experts doubt the correctness of AI.
C.The differences between AI patterns and human creativity.
D.The difficulty artists face in producing enough works.
4.Which of the following opinions might the writer agree with?
A.AI shouldn’t be influenced by the data. B.Human experts can best judge art.
C.AI will take place of human experts soon. D.AI and humans should work together.
【答案】1.B 2.A 3.B 4.D
1.根据文章第1段中的“the paintings held by Russia’s Hermitage Museum and France’s Wildenstein Collection were created by the artist, while the one at Britain’s Badminton House is only a copy.”
2.根据文章第3段“The technology can study small details from images of artworks and compare them with real works by the same artist. This way, it can find differences that humans and other tools might miss.”
3.通读文章第4段,尤其是该段首句“However, many experts don’t fully trust AI.”
4.通读全文,尤其是文章第5段“Instead, AI should be used together with human knowledge and scientific testing to reach the most correct results.”

Have you ever had a lot of homework to do but just couldn’t start? You sat at your desk, looking at your books and pens, but did nothing for an hour. You might have checked your phone or looked out of the window instead. This behavior is actually called procrastination (拖延). It is a common problem for many students. 1
How can we fight this bad habit effectively? 2 It is called the “Two-Minute Rule”. The idea is simple: if a task takes less than two minutes, do it right now. If it is a big task, tell yourself, “I will just do it for two minutes.”
3 The reason is that the hardest part of doing something is just starting. Once you start moving, you will usually find the work is not that scary. You might even want to keep going after the two minutes is up.
Another good way is to break a big task into small pieces. 4 For example, don’t think about “writing a whole English paper.” Just think about “writing the first sentence.” After you finish one small step, move on to the next. Before you know it, the whole task will be done.
5 Action is the key to success. Don’t wait for the “perfect time” to start. Just take the first step now, and you will see the change.
A.Why does this rule work?
B.Here is a useful tip to help you.
C.So, stop worrying and start doing.
D.Small steps make huge things easier to accept.
E.It happens when we find a task is too hard or boring.

Imagine a spaceship that can be blown up like a balloon. 4
The pockets hold lots of plastic bags filled with water, dried food, and other things. Flynn and his team call their pocketed-idea Water Walls.
5 For example, as food gets eaten and water gets drunk, waste won’t be thrown into space. It will go back into Water Walls for recycling. Filter (滤) bags in Water Walls will take their waste water away and give them back clean water. Flynn and his team hope they can help make a journey to Mars a reality (现实) very soon with the help of Water Walls.

C.It’s never too late to start. D.Don’t bite the hand that feeds you.

As they walked home, Matthew looked at Anne. “You said all that from the bottom of your heart, didn’t you?”
Anne nodded. “Yes, Matthew. And I’ve learned something. It gives you such a lovely, comfortable feeling to apologize and be forgiven.”

What began as a little girl’s dream grew into a life’s work that changed how we see our place in nature.
1.Why did Jane’s dream of studying wild animals in Africa seem impossible at that time?
A.Jane’s family was too worried to send her there.
B.It was not common for girls to take up scientific jobs.
C.Scientists had already studied wild animals in Africa.
D.Wild animals there were not friendly to people.
2.What can we learn about the writer’s experience in Cambridge?
A.Her mother advised her to listen to and accept others’ opinions.
B.The writer regretted going to Cambridge to further her study.
C.Scientists in Cambridge all disagreed with her research findings.
D.The writer stuck to her own belief and challenged traditional ideas.
3.Which of the following best describes the writer?
A.Brave and strong-minded. B.Smart and creative.
C.Hardworking and helpful. D.Curious and imaginative.
4.What is the passage mainly about?
A.How Jane Goodall turned her love for nature into key scientific discoveries.
B.Why Jane Goodall made up her mind to closely study wild animals in Africa.
C.What Jane Goodall discovered about chimpanzees through her field research.
D.How Jane Goodall’s family supported her through every difficulty she faced.

In many cultures, being heavy was once seen as a sign of success and happiness. People would say “you’ve gained weight” to mean someone was living a good life. 1

Many girls join in these challenges to feel accepted, but this can lead to unhealthy dieting and poor health in their minds. Besides, pop culture makes things worse by showing unhealthy thin bodies as the “perfect” look.
4 On a social media website, Theresa, a young lady, shares her own experience in dealing with pressure. She helps people enjoy their own beauty. Another lady called Scarlett teaches girls to accept their natural shapes. She tries to show others that confidence and self-love are the keys to beauty.
Although a lot of people still want to be thin, more ladies like Theresa and Scarlett are making a difference. They remind us that beauty comes in all sizes and that our value isn’t decided by size or weight. 5 They want to tell us that everyone should pay more attention to their health. As more people accept these messages, society can start to see body image in a healthier way. Remember: “Love your body—it’s the only one you have.”
