Recently, our literarysociety held a book-sharing activity. I recommended a great adventure novel as a a good read, which was based on a historicalmystery. The story follows a detective who gets lost in a forest, where he discovers a hidden base of aliens that attack the local town. The aliens force a thief to steal ancient books, and the detective must stop them before they destroy the town. It mixes fantasy, science fiction, and real historical facts, so it’s full of excitement. I also learned many new idioms from the book, which I had never heard of before. The story shows how societypunishes evil and protects good, and it’s a perfect example of great fiction. We all agreed that a good story should not only be fun, but also make us think about right and wrong. This activity made us fall in love with reading even more. 英文故事（含全部单词，已加粗） Last week, our librarian told us a story about a naughty boy who loved reading. The boy found a hidden key in the library, which could unlock an old box with a summary of a magical world. He was secretly excited, but he was too weak to carry the box, therefore he asked his friend for help. The boy’s enemy, a selfish and spoiled kid, tried to lock up the box and lock it forever, but nobody could stop the boy. Day by day, the boy studied the box, and the build-up of his courage reached its climax when he finally proved the magic was real. He got to his feet and stated that the magic could change people’s state of mind, and its effect was amazing. The librarianconsidered the story a great gift for young readers, saying it taught us that kindness always beats selfishness. Luckily, the boy finished his adventure in time for the school reading festival, and everyone cheered for him. Last month, our charityorganization launched a project to help the elderly in our community. We signed up to provide free meals and build a warm shelter for them, and ever since we started, many activeyouth volunteers have joined us. One day, a kind gentleman brought his pet dog to the shelter. The dog barked happily when it saw the elderly, and its owner told us he had been helping out ever since he was a primary school student. A warm lady from a local stadium also came, bringing donations of blankets and daily supplies. An interviewer came to report our work, and we shared our practical plans: we will help more adults in need, train young volunteers, and never let any missing elderly person feel lonely. Our army of volunteers is growing, and we promise to keep helping others warmly for years to come. Last month, our volunteer team launched a life-saving charity project for people in need. We put up an advertisement to find helpers, and many ordinary people were willing to join. Most of all, we valued teamwork above everything, and our effort finally brought great success. We donated clothes and food from our own pockets, and handed out supplies to the poor. An elder lady, a warm madam with great talent in public speaking, gave a speech to the audience, saying that voluntary work is worth more than any money. She was always on the go, and familiar with every detail of the project. We all agreed that the true value of the activity was not just the successful help we gave, but the love and warmth we shared with those in need.
