Emma was on the way to the Nature Center. She looked sadly out of the window of the bus. Only 50 miles outside town was the farm where she grew up. I didn’t talk much before and I didn’t want anyone to notice me. I listened carefully in class but never answered the teachers’ questions.
Everything changed after I joined the basketball club. At first, I thought it was crazy because I couldn’t keep up with the other members and was afraid they would laugh at me. However, my teacher kept encouraging me to give it a try. In the end, I agreed and decided to take a chance.
Having the courage to try was only half the success. When I first took the practice courses,I didn’t even know the rules of the game. That made me feel really sad. Luckily, I wasn’t the only new one in the club, so I decided to learn the game, do my best, and stop making excuses.
I practised really hard. Soon I understood the game much better and learned to move properly from the coach. Being part of a team felt amazing.
