Media literacy isn't just a nice-to-have skill anymore-it's essential.At its core,media literacy
means understanding how media works-who created a message, why it was made, and how it's
meant to influence the audience.Students are constantly surrounded by messages:some are helpful,
others misleading.Teaching them to analyze, question, and evaluate media gives them the tools to
think critically and make informed choices. The good news? You can build media literacy into what
you're already doing,one step at a time.
Use Headlines as Warm-Ups
Start class with a real-world headline-ideally one related to your subject area.
Ask students:
Is this information reliable?
Where did it come from?
.What might be missing?
This five-minute routine builds awareness and can lead to great discussions.
Compare Two Sources
Pick two texts on the same topic but from different perspectives. This could be editorials, news
articles,or video content.Ask students to compare:
●Language and tone.
●Choice of images.
.What facts are emphasized or ignored?
This is a great way to teach bias (and point of view, especially in ELA or social studies.
Build Visual Literacy
Use political cartoons, advertisements,or photos to practise interpreting:
●What's the message?
How is it being communicated visually?
Who benefits from this image?
This kind of analysis helps students read beyond the text.
This is about teaching students to be curious, and you just need to model curiosity. When you
say,"Let's figure out where this came from,"you're demonstrating to students how to think
critically. And when they see you do it regularly, they start doing it too.
21.What is the primary purpose of teaching media literacy to students?
A.To arouse their interest in media.
B.To enhance their literature skills.
C.To develop their critical thinking ability
D.To broaden their general media knowledge.
22.Which technique of teaching media literacy is recommended?
A.Using visual aids in teaching
B.Asking students to connect two sources.
C.Having students figure out better headlines.
D.Providing materials that include various pictures.
23.How can teachers best stimulate students'curiosity?
A.Ask routine questions.
B.Tell!Don't just watch.
C.Reward curious students.
D.Show!Don't just tell.
B
I have always felt most comfortable in the classroom, and I enjoy the recognition from family
and teachers for accomplishing a job well.Although I was a high achiever,I was not a student who
joined every club.Throughout my life,I wanted to learn more than I wanted to be in a bunch of
extracurriculars(课外活动).
My academic journey continued at a community college, where I joined the student newspaper.
In the newsroom,I discovered an engaging,fast-paced world that allowed me to never stop learning.
It was just what I had expected. Now my transfer (to Drake University for a journalism degree
was a no-brainer.It was exciting to see my future become clear, but I never pictured the shock waves
headed my way.
The campus phenomenon known as "Drake Busy"was completely unexpected. The term
describes the idea that constant busyness is the main indicator of college success.Within the first
week,I felt heavy pressure to be active in all the ways my peers were.I saw students trying to
balance multiple jobs and organizations alongside schoolwork. As a student used to having
confidence in the classroom,I felt this new standard threatened my identity and worsened my anxiety.
I spent my first term struggiing with doubts about my worthiness. My anxious thoughts tricked my
mind into believing lies like"You're not good enough."A part of my mind realized those thoughts
were not true, but that sensible voice was a whisper compared to the shouts of doubt. As a witness to
this battle every day,I have learned that sometimes it just takes time to chip away at my mind's
inventions.
In time,I recognized that my experience as a transfer student was different but valuable. The
outsider perspective helped me tackle"Drake Busy".I watched people trying to do too much at the
expense of their well-being.I wanted to shake them and say,"Why do this to yourself?"
Instead of fighting the current,I eventually learned to swim in my own lane. The pressure didn't
disappear, but my need to give in to it did.I realized that my worth wasn't calculated by the number
of meetings on my calendar, but by the real satisfaction I felt in my work.On the days I managed to
balance my ambition with my peace of mind,I felt most motivated.I discovered that:true success is
defined internally, not by the noise around you.
24.Before entering Drake University,the author
A.adopted a relaxing lifestyle

25.How did the author feel within the first week at Drake University?
A.Unaccustomed.
B.Relieved.
C.Regretful.
D.Expectant.
26.What does the author think of the"Drake Busy"lifestyle?
A.It lowers students'learning efficiency.
B.It indicates students'future success.
C.It threatens students'well-being.
D.It erases students'self-doubt.
27.What message does the passage deliver?
A.Outsiders rarely win.
B.Your own pace matters.
C.Busyness equals worthiness.
D.Your anxiety drives you forward.
Scientists have learned more about the inner workings of the Earth. The results suggest that the
Earth's inner core may be starting to spin more slowly than the Earth.
The Earth is made up of several layers. The thin, outer layer is called the crust.Below the crust
is the mantle, which makes up about 84%of the Earth's core.Below the mantle is the Earth's core.
The Earth's core has two parts:the outer core and the inner core. Both of these are made mainly of
the metals iron and nickel. The outer core is liquid. But the inner core is a solid ball held in the liquid
almost like the yolk in an egg.
Scientists suspected for a long time that the inner core might be spinning slightly differently
from the way the Earth spins. In the 1990s,two scientists,Paul Richards and Xiaodong Song, studied
5
the inner core by looking at "seismic waves"-shaking from earthquakes-that travel through the
center of the Earth. They focused on groups and pairs of waves from earthquakes that naturally
repeat.
If the inner core was spinning exactly with the Earth, each wave of the pair should have taken
the same time to pass through the Earth.Instead, some moved faster than others. This was because
they were hitting different parts of the inner core as it spun.Their studies revealed that the inner core
was spinning in the same direction as the Earth, but slightly faster.
Now Dr Song and Yi Yang say that before 2009,the wave pairs showed that the inner core was
spinning faster than the Earth.Around 2009,that seemed to change. The timing of the wave pairs
was no longer different. The researchers believe that the inner core had started spinning at the same
speed as the Earth.
The researchers noticed that the inner core's spin also seemed to change speed in the early
1970s.The inner core may have a pattern of speeding up and slowing down every 70 years or so.
Not everyone agrees. Many scientists who study the Earth say more information is needed to
figure out what is really going on.
28.What does the author intend to do in Paragraph 2?
A.Illustrate a concept.
B.Provide relevant information.
C.Give some examples.
D.Introduce the research ways.
29.To study the inner core, scientists analyzed mainly
A.in which direction the inner core spins
B.how many waves come from an earthquake
C.why waves from earthquakes repeat naturally
D.how earthquake waves go through the Earth's center
30.What does the recent finding mainly suggest?
A.The crust is the thinnest of all layers.
B.The deep interior's spin slowed after 2009.
C.The outer core spins faster than the mantle.
D.Seismic waves no longer pass through Earth.
31.What do many scientists think of the study result?
A.It remains to be tested out.
B.It is somewhat reasonable.
C.It is absolutely convincing.
D.It has been proved wrong.

In an era dominated by rapid technological advancements and the increasing demand for STEM
(Science,Technology,Engineering, and Mathematics)skills, the value of liberal arts education is
6
under scrutiny. However, recent discussions and research suggest that liberal arts education remains
not only relevant but essential for addressing the complex challenges of the modern world.
Liberal arts education is often defined as a multidisciplinary approach to learning. One of the
key arguments in favor of liberal arts education is its role in fostering well-rounded individuals
capable of navigating a rapidly changing job market. While STEM degrees often lead to higher
starting salaries and more immediate job opportunities, liberal arts graduates tend to exhibit greater
adaptability and versatility (over time. Moreover, liberal arts provide a foundation for
understanding the complexities of human society and culture. In a globalized world, the ability to
navigate diverse perspectives and engage with different cultures is increasingly important. The study
of history, literature, and philosophy helps students develop empathy and a deeper understanding of
the world around them, which is crucial in a globalized workforce where cross-cultural
communication is the norm.
Another significant aspect of liberal arts education is its role in fostering ethical and responsible
citizens. In a world where technology can have profound impacts on society, the humanities provide
a framework for understanding the ethical implications of new developments. For example,
philosophers and ethicists are crucial in addressing moral questions surrounding artificial intelligence
and data privacy.
The integration of liberal arts and STEM education has also gained recognition in recent years.
The STEAM(STEM+Arts)movement emphasizes the importance of combining technical skills with
creativity, critical thinking, and ethical reasoning.By incorporating liberal arts into STEM education,
students can develop a more well-rounded skill set that prepares them to address complex,real-world
problems.
Despite the challenges posed by the digital age, liberal arts education continues to play a vital
role in shaping adaptable, ethical, and culturally competent individuals. As Jeffrey Scheuer notes,
"It's the thinking,it's the critical thinking that I argue is the common thread, really the trunk on
which all of these different disciplines grow."
32.What does the phrase"under scrutiny"underlined in Paragraph 1 probably mean?
A.Being widely praised and encouraged.
B.Being overestimated and highly stressed.
C.Facing careful examination and questioning.
D.Receiving complete support without challenge.
33.What is the key advantage of liberal arts graduates compared to STEM graduates?
A.More flexible and diverse capabilities.
B.Specialized technical training for specific industries.
7
C.Expertise in ethical artificial intelligence development.
D.Higher starting salaries and immediate job opportunities.
34.Why does the author mention philosophers and ethicists in Paragraph 3?
A.To point out their lack of technical skills.
B.To highlight their involvement in designing AI systems.
C.To illustrate the significance of liberal arts to ethical reasoning.
D.To show the crucial roles of philosophy and ethics in liberal arts.
35.Which of the followings would be the most suitable title for the passage?
A.The Decline of Liberal Arts Education
B.The Integration of Liberal Arts and STEM
C.The Adaptability of Liberal Arts Graduates
D.The Value of Liberal Arts in the Digital Age

In China's journey to become a manufacturing powerhouse, the spirit of craftsmanship shines.
Take the engineers behind the Tiangong space station, for instance-they spent years perfecting
docking parts with millimeter accuracy.High-speed rail workers test each component repeatedly
until failure is virtually impossible, while deep-sea equipment designers insist on flawless welding
)It is,for them,a belief and pursuit of excellence.36
No wonder behind every great achievement lies the spirit of craftsmanship:focus, responsibility,
commitment, and meticulousness ().37 Machines can work with high consistency,
but humans are irreplaceable in ultra-precise high-tech fields like semiconductor production, where
even a tiny flaw can ruin a whole batch of chips.38 In aerospace and medical devices,
human judgment spots unpredictable problems that machines cannot. That is why skilled workers
remain the core of innovation
How can one develop such a mindset?39 Much like a master watchmaker perfecting
a watch repeatedly, modern professionals must keep refining their skills. They should treat every
imperfection as a chance to improve, not a reason to stop. After all, craftsmanship is not built in a
day.40Only by pursuing lifelong learning and constant self-development can they adapt
to ever-advancing technology.Thus,in the world's most advanced industries,the delicate
cooperation between humans and machines will give birth to products that are safe, reliable and truly
world-class,fully demonstrating the enduring power of craftsmanship.
A.With such skills and care, progress continues.
8
B.These are things that machines cannot replace.
C.Instead,it grows through small,steady improvements.
D.This is not the only case where human expertise matters.
E.It represents a mindset of accuracy,patience,and dedication.
F.Such demands not only technical skill but also great patience.
G.It is fostered through persistent practice and unceasing refinement.

My younger sister Lily had always longed for a cat.Every birthday and every Spring Festival,
she made the same wish.My parents, however, remained unconvinced, firmly believing that keeping
a pet would be more trouble than pleasure, especially with two busy students in the family.
Everything changed unexpectedly one Saturday afternoon.
On my way home from school,I noticed a small gray cat sitting near the entrance of our
apartment building. It wasn't afraid at all.Instead,it followed me upstairs, slipped into our living
room, and settled there as if it had already decided where it belonged.Lily let out a scream of
excitement.
"She chose us!"Lily announced, her voice trembling with certainty.
My father immediately pointed to the cat hair gathering on the sofa, while my mother raised
concerns about feeding schedules once exam pressure set in.After a long and cautious discussion,
they finally agreed to keep the cat for one week-as a trial.
We named it"Cloud",inspired by its soft fur.In the beginning, things went smoothly.Cloud
spent most of the day sleeping and followed Lily from room to room, like a loyal shadow. But soon,
problems appeared.Cloud would often knock over a flower pot, scratch the curtains, and jump onto
the dining table.
Each small accident added to the growing unease."This is exactly what we feared,"my father
remarked.Lily tried to defend Cloud, promising to take full responsibility.I remained mostly silent,
watching how quickly excitement gave way to tension.
On a cold evening, after Cloud accidentally spilled a cup of water onto my homework,I lost my
temper and shouted. The room fell silent.Cloud jumped down at once and hid under the sofa, curling
up into a ball and not taking a single step out.Lily looked up at me,tears welling in her eyes
Later that night,I found her sitting on the floor, softly calling Cloud's name. However,it
11
refused to come out.
"If we send it away,"Lily asked in a low voice,"will it live a good life?"
Her question lingered in my mind long after she went to bed.

1.续写词数应为150个左右:
2.请按如下格式在答题纸的相应位置作答。
Early the next morning,we noticed Cloud fell sick and came down with a fever.
