When your pen is broken, or you have some leftover (剩余的) food, what do you do with these things? You will probably throw them all into one dustbin. But in fact, all of the garbage needs to be sorted separately.
Garbage sorting is a big problem worldwide. In recent years, some Chinese cities have been working hard on it. Shanghai has worked with Alipay to create a service for garbage sorting. People may get points by correctly sorting their garbage. Through the Alipay app, they can exchange (交换) the points for milk, phone cards and other things. The city is asking all the people to sort their garbage into four groups: wet, recyclable, harmful and dry.
Wet waste is also known as household waste. They are things you don’t want but that pigs can eat. Paper, glass and other things that can be reused are recyclable waste. Harmful waste includes things like medicine and batteries. Finally, any waste that’s not wet, recyclable or harmful will go in the “dry waste” bin.
Many other Chinese cities are also using this method to sort their garbage. For example, Shenzhen has been sorting its garbage into the same four groups. Students there also receive waste-sorting guidebooks that they must study.
If you don’t sort garbage, all of it will go to a landfill (垃圾填埋地). These landfills can take up large areas of ground that could have been used for planting trees. The waste you throw away, such as batteries, can pollute the groundwater. Other pieces of garbage, like the metal part of a pen, can be used to make other things if they are properly recycled.
11. How does Shanghai encourage people to sort their garbage?
A. By building a large landfill.
B. By offering something that people want in life.
C. By creating a service with the help of Alipay.
D. By providing guidebooks on garbage sorting.
12. Which of the following bins should leftover food go into?
A. B. C. D.
13. In what way are Shanghai and Shenzhen similar in garbage sorting?
A. Using the same way to sort garbage. B. Making strict rules for garbage sorting.
C. Using the same way to burn garbage. D. Making all the people take waste sorting classes.
14. Which of the following shows the structure of this article? (P1=Paragraph 1 …)
A. B. C. D.
15. What’s the best title for the text?
A. Sort Your Garbage B. Different Kinds of Garbage
C. Waste Sorting around the World D. New Use of Alipay

Humans and Nature
Nature is very important to us. We depend on nature for many things. Nature provides us with clean air to breathe, fresh water to drink, and food to eat.
However, sometimes we forget to protect nature. People cut down forests, pollute rivers and oceans, and even produce terrible gas. These actions have caused many problems. For example, some forests have become deserts and some kinds of plants and animals are disappearing. Many people have health problems.
To solve these problems, we should take actions. We can start from small things, such as saving water and electricity, reducing waste, and riding a bike. We should also protect wild animals and plants.
