I often dreamed about Pisa when I was a boy. I read about the famous building called the Leaning Tower of Pisa. But when I read the word “Pisa”, I was thinking of pizza. I thought this tower must be the best place to buy pizza in the world.
Many years later I finally saw the Leaning Tower. I knew then that it was Pisa and no pizza. But there was still something special about it for me. The tower got its name because it really did lean to one side. Some people want to try to fix it. They are afraid it may fall down and they don’t want it to lean over the city.
I do not think it’s a fantastic idea to try to fix it. The tower probably will not fall down. It is 600 years old. Why should anything happen to it now? And, if you ask me, I like what it looks like. To me it is a very human kind of leaning. Nothing is perfect. It seems to say.
And who cares? Why do people want things to be perfect? Imperfect things may be more interesting. There are many other older, more beautiful towers in Italy. But Pisa Tower is the most famous. People come from all over the world to see it.
4. What was “Pisa” in the writer’s mind when he was young?
A. A kind of food like pizza. B. A famous building.
C. The right name of the tower. D. A famous tower.
5. Why did some people try to repair the tower?
A. They thought it imperfect.
B. They were afraid it would fall down.
C. They wanted to make it more beautiful.
D. They wanted to change it into a place to sell pizza.
6. What did the writer think of the idea of fixing the tower?
A. Unnecessary. B. Impossible. C. Fantastic. D. Crazy.
7. What’s the writer’s opinion according to the passage?
A. To be perfect is important.
B. The most famous things are perfect.
C. Correct the mistakes as soon as you know.
D. Imperfect things may be more interesting.
【答案】4. A 5. B 6. A 7. D

How many fathers usually come to the parent-teacher meetings in your class? Have you ever thought of a “dads only” parent-teacher meeting? On Aug 24, 2024, a school in Hangzhou held a special meeting just for dads. The goal was to “encourage dads to actively take part in family education,” reported Guangming Daily.
In recent years, people have been discussing the absence of fathers in family education. According to a 2020 survey by the All-China Women’s Federation and National Bureau of Statistics, most moms in China help their kids with homework. About 68 out of 100 moms do this.
However, dads and moms both play important roles in their children’s education.
“Dads can shape young kids’ personalities,” said Luo Xuepeng from Guangdong. He is a father of a 9-year-old boy. “A rational (理性的) and strong dad can help kids have good habits and become more outgoing,” he added.
Of course, dads can’t fix everything by themselves. If laws give dads more time to care for their babies, if workplaces let them attend school meetings and spend more time with their kids, and if people stop believing that only moms should do these things, then things will get better, noted The Global Times.
8. Why was the meeting special according to paragraph 1?
A. The parents were also teachers.
B. Only dads were invited to the meeting.
C. All of the students’ parents were present.
D. It discussed the importance of family education.
9. What can we know from paragraph 2?
A. Only moms offer help in children’s family education.
B. Children like mom to help them with their homework.
C. Dads do less than moms in children’s family education.
D. Something has been done to help children with their homework.
10. How can dads influence their children?
①shape young kids’ personalities ②help kids form good habits ③make kids more outgoing ④keep kids doing homework
A. ①② B. ②④ C. ①②③ D. ①②③④
11. What can be inferred from the underlined sentence in the last paragraph?
A. Dads can fix everything by themselves.
B. Moms will have free time to enjoy themselves.
C. Moms can spend more time playing with their children.
D. Dads will be more responsible for the children’s family education.
【答案】8. B 9. C 10. C 11. D
根据第一段中“On Aug 24, 2024, a school in Hangzhou held a special meeting just for dads.”可知,这次会议的特别之处在于只邀请了爸爸参加。
【9题详解】
根据第二段中“According to a 2020 survey... most moms in China help their kids with homework. About 68 out of 100 moms do this.”以及结合上下文提到的“absence of fathers”,可以推断出在家庭教育(特别是辅导作业)方面,爸爸做得比妈妈少。
【10题详解】
根据第四段中“Dads can shape young kids’ personalities.”对应①;“A rational and strong dad can help kids have good habits...”对应②;“...and become more outgoing.”对应③。文中并未提到爸爸能让孩子一直做作业“keep kids doing homework”。因此①②③正确。
【11题详解】
划线句子“then things will get better”的前文列举了一系列假设:“If laws give dads more time..., if workplaces let them attend school meetings..., and if people stop believing that only moms should do these things...”,这些措施的核心都是为了让爸爸更多地参与到家庭和孩子的教育中来。因此,“情况好转”意味着爸爸将在家庭教育中承担更多的责任。A项与文中“dads can’t fix everything by themselves”矛盾;B、C项并非该句强调的重点。
D
Josie, who is 17 years old, said, “Why do my parents do the same things they tell me not to do? For example, my mum stops me from shouting through the walls and asks me to go and speak to her face-to-face, but she always shouts through the walls to me. What can I do?”
That is a very good point. Parents can be completely inconsistent (不一致), and usually they don’t realize it. You see this a lot in many things like smartphones. Parents always say to their kids, “Oh, you can’t use that. It is bad for you, so stop using it at the table.” But then they are on theirs continually. So what do you expect teenagers to do?
The whole “Do as I say, not as I do” thing is an annoyance, especially for a teenager who is dying for independence and respect but isn’t getting them.
What can teenagers do with it? I would say you should point it out by calmly saying something like “You tell me not to scream through the walls, but you do it to me, so you can understand where I’m coming from. That’s not ideal.” They might object to (反对) it, but I think most parents who care about being parents would logically say, “That’s a reasonable point.”
There are a lot of conflicts (矛盾) going on between teenagers and their parents, but a lot of studies show that the conflicts are resolved a lot more when they turn into a dialogue.
If you can talk at a time when you’ re both feeling a bit calmer, like just in the kitchen or doing something unimportant, then go in and say, “Can I just mention it? You tell me not to do this, but you do it too.” If you can say it in a more calm and stress-free manner, most parents will respond positively.
12. Which of the following is TRUE according to Paragraph 1?
A. Josie agrees with what her mum does.
B. Josie likes doing what her mum does.
C. Josie can’t understand what her mum does.
D. Josie always shouts through the walls like her mum.
13. What does the underlined word “theirs” in paragraph 2 refer to?
A. The parents’ smartphones. B. The tables in the house.
C. The devices in the house. D. The teenagers’ points.
14. What should teenagers do with their parents’ disagreement?
A. Object to it personally. B. Complain of it continually.
C. Talk with their parents calmly. D. Do some studies differently.
15. What is the author’s purpose in writing the last paragraph?
A. To list a fact. B. To offer a suggestion.
C. To show a result. D. To ask a new question.
【答案】12. C 13. A 14. C 15. B

【12题详解】
第一段Josie说“Why do my parents do the same things they tell me not to do?”,说明她无法理解妈妈的行为。
【13题详解】
第二段中“theirs”所在句为“But then they are on theirs continually.”,结合前文“Parents always say...you can’t use that...but then they are on theirs”,说明“theirs”指代前文提到的“smartphones”,即父母的手机。
【14题详解】
第四段建议“point it out by calmly saying...”,说明青少年应与父母冷静沟通。
【15题详解】
最后一段作者建议“If you can talk...then go in and say...”,并指出“If you can say it in a more calm...most parents will respond positively.”,说明作者通过提供建议来帮助青少年与父母沟通,因此写作目的是“给出建议”。

根据文章第3段“They helped complete the Tiangong space station, do some science experiments and go on spacewalks.”可推知结论他们在空间站完成了多项任务,至少写出两条即可。因此答案是原文直接信息。
【49题详解】
分析句子结构,主语“The trip to space”译为“太空之旅”;“not only...but also...”

Dear Daming,
I know your problem. You’ve made two mistakes. First, you used your classmate’s pen without her permission. Second, when you broke the pen, you didn’t tell her the truth.
Yes, you must tell her immediately. If you tell her the truth, perhaps she’ll be angry with you, but at least you’ll prove you are honest. Then I think you should offer to pay. You can use your pocket money to buy a new pen for her. She will realize that you’re truly sorry.
I hope the advice can help you. I’m sure you will make up with her soon.
Yours,
Li Hua

C
