Have you ever spent hours watching short videos on TikTok and ended up feeling tired and empty? This
feeling is closely related to a chemical in our brain called dopamine().
Dopamine plays a key role in motivation()and makes us want to do things. It is released()when we
expect something rewarding, like eating good food, having fun,or achieving success. When we actually get what
we want, even more dopamine is released, bringing us excitement and pleasure.
However, some easy and fun activities, such as eating junk food, playing online games,or scrolling(
)through social media, cause a rapid release of dopamine. This is often called "cheap dopamine"because it
brings quick excitement without real effort. But this feeling doesn't last long.Soon, you will need more of these
activities to feel the same level of excitement. That's why you might end up scrolling for 45 minutes even though
you only planned to watch one video.
The main problem with cheap dopamine is that it leads to a"dopamine crash".After the high level of pleasure,
dopamine drops below normal, making you feel low, tired, and unable to focus. If you often seek cheap dopamine,
4
your brain will feel it harder to enjoy activities that require effort-such as studying, finishing a project,or building
good relationships.Over time, this may cause stress and anxiety because you are not reaching your goals.
The good news is that you can retrain your brain.Try to spend less time on cheap dopamine
activities, especially in the morning.Don't use your phone right after you wake up.Instead,do something
meaningful first, like reading books or doing homework. This helps your brain regain its natural balance and find
joy in hard work.By doing so,you can experience true satisfaction from your own achievements.
()31.What can we learn about dopamine from Paragraph 2?
A.It is mainly released when we feel hungry.B.It makes people feel worried and nervous.
C.It plays an important role in people's motivation D.It stops working when we expect fun things
)32.Why is the dopamine from activities like scrolling through TikTok called"cheap dopamine"?
A.Because it needs much effort.
B.Because it brings quick pleasure.
C.Because it lasts for a long time.
D.Because it costs less money.
()33.Which of the following pictures best explains the underlineddopamine crash"?

Cooking, the art and science of preparing food,is far more than daily housework. It's like a fun classroom

about heating water, which shows how heat moves. It is all about physics.
38 You need to follow the instructions when you mix materials, like"adding 1/4 spoon of salt.
Sometimes you have to make some changes to feed more or fewer people. That means doing math.Even buying the
required materials with low cost teaches you math.
Food has a lot of history.Pasta didn't start in Italy-it came from Asia long ago!Spices were once traded
like gold, and this changed how countries talked to each other.39 In hot places, people grow more
different foods than in cold places.Learning about these things helps you understand how the world works.

offers in eco-friendly buildings.

buildings have cleaner air, which can lower stress and improve work efficiency ()Besides,they give off far
fewer emissions(排放物)than traditional buildings.

作文范文:
Dear fellow students,
With the rapid development and popularity of Artificial Intelligence, AI has become a common tool in our daily study. It can help us work out difficult problems, correct mistakes and learn new things quickly.
However, some students use AI in wrong ways. They depend on it too much and even copy their homework. This is not only a bad habit, but also stops us from thinking independently. It is really bad for our long-term study.
As middle school students, we should learn to use AI correctly. Here are some good suggestions.
First, we can use AI in proper ways to help our study. When we meet new words, difficult sentences or hard study problems, we can ask AI for explanations and learning methods to clear up our doubts. Second, we must keep independent thinking. We should try our best to finish homework and solve problems by ourselves first, and only use AI to check answers and correct our mistakes after we finish our work. Third, we can make good use of AI to preview new lessons and review what we have learned. It can help us form good learning habits and improve our study skills little by little.
In a word, AI is just a tool. Let’s develop a good habit of using AI wisely. Only in this way can we make progress in our study.
Yours sincerely,
Li Hua

In a lively martial arts (武术) club in Akpro-Misserete, Benin (贝宁), the sound of feet hitting the ground and cries of “Hay-Hah!” fill the air. Damien Degbo, 53, teaches his students kung fu and tai chi there. For him, Chinese martial arts are more than just exercise. They’re a way of life and a bridge between Benin and China.
At the age of 13, Degbo watched Chinese martial arts movies in Benin’s capital. He loved how these actors fought with beauty and power. That’s when his love of kung fu began. Degbo joined a private kung fu club and later learnt Chinese at a culture center. In 2010, he started his own club, Super Shaolin of Benin. In 2014, he got a chance to train at China’s Shaolin Temple. The training was hard, but it taught him a lot about Chinese culture. He learnt how to practice calligraphy, tea preparation and traditional Chinese medicine.
Now, Degbo’s club has more than 350 students. He teaches not only Chinese martial arts but also Chinese culture. Chefif Deen, a student of the kung fu master, says kung fu has changed his life, helping him become stronger and more self-controlled.
Degbo thinks of himself as someone who spreads Chinese culture. He wants to share with young people Chinese good qualities like self-control and respect. As China and Benin get closer, more and more people like Degbo will help build a stronger friendship between the two countries through kung fu.
( )26. What is Degbo according to Paragraph 1?
A.A teacher. B.A student. C.An actor. D.An athlete.
( )27. What is the correct order of the events about Degbo?
① He set up Super Shaolin of Benin.

③ He received training at Shaolin Temple.
④ He saw Chinese martial arts films in his teens.
A.②③①④ B.②③④① C.④①③② D.④①②③
( )28. What does the writer want to show by mentioning Chefif Deen?
A.It’s never too old to learn kung fu. B.The training of martial arts can be hard.
C.It’s kung fu actors’ duty to spread culture. D.Kung fu can help people improve their lives.
( )29. What can we learn from the passage?
A. Degbo thinks he fails to make Chinese culture spread abroad.
B. Kung fu has become a connection between China and Benin.
C. Degbo used to be a man without the qualities like self-control and respect.
D. Chefif Deen learnt how to prepare tea and calligraphy practice in Shaolin Temple.

Have you ever spent hours watching short videos on TikTok and ended up feeling tired and empty? This
feeling is closely related to a chemical in our brain called dopamine(多巴胺).
Dopamine plays a key role in motivation(动机)and makes us want to do things. It is released(释放)when we expect something rewarding, like eating good food, having fun, or achieving success. When we actually get what we want, even more dopamine is released, bringing us excitement and pleasure.
However, some easy and fun activities, such as eating junk food, playing online games, or scrolling(滚屏)through social media, cause a rapid release of dopamine. This is often called “cheap dopamine” because it brings quick excitement without real effort. But this feeling doesn’t last long. Soon, you will need more of these activities to feel the same level of excitement. That's why you might end up scrolling for 45 minutes even though you only planned to watch one video.
The main problem with cheap dopamine is that it leads to a “dopamine crash”. After the high level of pleasure, dopamine drops below normal, making you feel low, tired, and unable to focus. If you often seek cheap dopamine, your brain will feel it harder to enjoy activities that require effort—such as studying, finishing a project, or building good relationships. Over time, this may cause stress and anxiety because you are not reaching your goals.
The good news is that you can retrain your brain. Try to spend less time on cheap dopamine activities, especially in the morning. Don't use your phone right after you wake up. Instead, do something meaningful first, like reading books or doing homework. This helps your brain regain its natural balance and find joy in hard work. By doing so,you can experience true satisfaction from your own achievements.
( )31. What can we learn about dopamine from Paragraph 2?
A.It is mainly released when we feel hungry. B. It makes people feel worried and nervous.
C.It plays an important role in people’s motivation D. It stops working when we expect fun things.
( )32. Why is the dopamine from activities like scrolling through TikTok called “cheap dopamine”?
A.Because it needs much effort. B.Because it brings quick pleasure.
C.Because it lasts for a long time. D.Because it costs less money.
( )33. Which of the following pictures best explains the underlined “dopamine crash”?
( )34. Which activity should the student choose for his morning plan to retrain his brain?
Morning Routines

阅读下面短文,选出可以填入空白处的最佳选项。选项中有一项为多余选项。
Cooking, the art and science of preparing food, is far more than daily housework. It’s like a fun classroom where you can learn different subjects all at once! 36
Science is everywhere in cooking. When you make bread, the yeast (酵母) eats sugar and makes bubbles of gas. 37 When you cook meat and it turns brown and smells good, that’s cool chemistry. Also, think about heating water, which shows how heat moves. It is all about physics.
38 You need to follow the instructions when you mix materials, like “adding 1/4 spoon of salt”. Sometimes you have to make some changes to feed more or fewer people. That means doing math. Even buying the required materials with low cost teaches you math.
Food has a lot of history. Pasta didn’t start in Italy—it came from Asia long ago! Spices were once traded like gold, and this changed how countries talked to each other. 39 In hot places, people grow more different foods than in cold places. Learning about these things helps you understand how the world works.
Cooking is like a secret key that opens the door to learning many subjects. It’s not just about making yummy food. 40 Schools should teach cooking because it helps students see how everything in learning is connected!
A.Geography also matters.
B.This is biology in action.
C.Math helps a lot in the kitchen.
D.The following will explain why cooking should be taught at school.
E.It’s also about becoming smarter in lots of ways.
F.Some students often spend money buying ready-made food.
