Every autumn, our school holds a table tennis competition. My elder brother Leo had won the boys’ singles title for four years, and only Mark, a skillful eighth grader, ever gave him a hard time.

Did you know that plants and animals often work together to live a better life? These friendly partnerships, where both sides benefit from each other, can be found everywhere, from fields and forests to even oceans.
Walk through a sunny field, and you’ll see one of the most common teams: bees and sunflowers. Bees collect sweet juice from sunflowers to make honey. As they fly from flower to flower, the yellow pollen sticks to their bodies. When they land on the next sunflower, this pollen falls off and helps the sunflower grow more new plants. Without bees, sunflowers could not spread their seeds (种子) so well. Without sunflowers, bees would lose an important kind of food.
Another wonderful team is elephants and banana trees. Elephants eat the tree’s leaves and fruit as their main food. When they walk around, the seeds in their waste fall into the soil and grow into new young trees. The trees also give elephants cool shade (树荫) to rest under when the sun is too hot. In this way, the elephants get enough food, and the trees can spread and grow far and wide.
Even in the ocean, there is a great partnership: clownfish and sea anemones. The anemone has soft and long parts that can hurt bigger fish, keeping them away from the clownfish. In return, the clownfish drives away small fish that would hurt the anemone’s soft parts, and its waste gives nutrients (养分) that help the anemone grow.
