Nunavut, Canada Auyuittuq National Park, which means “the land that never melts (融化)”, is just one of the shocking wonders in Nunavut. There are many icefalls, mountains, and deep valleys (山谷) while hikers cross the 60m Akshayuk Pass in the summer. And that’s just one attraction. From narrow seas to mountains, there are three areas in Nunavut, all with beautiful natural land features. Visitors can hunt, fish, mountain hike, and walk across ice flows. Namib Desert, Namibia A coastal desert in the southern area of Africa, it is known for its burnt orange-golden sands. The Namib has been dry for at least 55 million years and possibly as many as 80 million. The name means “vast space”, and it spreads more than 1200 miles. The hill of sands can reach up to 980 feet high and 20 miles long. Amazingly, the temperatures striking against cold currents create a fog belt that often covers the desert. Antarctica Perhaps the last unspoilt place, Antarctica is an empty landscape. No trees grow here, and one must travel with a tourism company in order to visit. Admire icebergs, sea lions, whales, and listen to the sound of absolutely nothing. Fiordland, New Zealand One of the most shocking areas of New Zealand, Fiordland can be seen on foot, by air, or by water. The Milford Track is one of the most famous walks, with the tallest waterfall in the country and impressive valley views. Lake Monowai is a glassy, mirror-like body of water surrounded by mountains and best explored by boating on a still day. 1. What’s special about Namib Desert? A. Natural state. B. Convenient transportation. C. Desert fog cover. D. The beauty of nature. 2. Where are visitors not allowed to go alone? A. Nunavut. B. Namib Desert. C. Antarctica. D. Fiordland. 3. What is the purpose of the passage? A. To educate. B. To advertise. C. To publish. D. To inform. B When I took Amy home from the animal shelter, she was scared. I believed she had been abused (虐待) because she was afraid of anything my husband, Bill, or I held in our hands. With a lot of care and attention, she became a great dog that surprised us every day. About three years ago, Amy and I joined a volunteer project called Canines with Class. At our first school visit, Officer Lisa called Amy and asked her to show how to shake hands and give a high five. The students clapped in joy and Amy received a reward. Then the students got to touch the dog. One by one they came up to meet Amy. Some of them started talking to me about their own pets. I didn’t feel worried any more. I thought the children liked staying with us. On our next school visit, I put a big chain on Amy’s neck and walked away from her. You could see that Amy was not happy. When I took the chain off her neck, Amy shook her tail happily and wouldn’t stop licking (舔) my face. That was when we talked about “breaking the chain”. On our third school trip, Amy started acting poorly when it was time to show off a few tricks. The students watched to see how I would correct her mistakes. It was a good chance to explain that if your dog doesn’t do exactly what you ask, you don’t have to shout at her or hit her to make it right. I think the children have learned a lot about respect and patience. Amy loves the program and has come so far since I found her a few years ago. Amy has broken the chain, and the love she gives to those children will help them become good pet owners. 4. What probably made Amy frightened? A. The author’s husband, Bill. B. Past ill-treatment. C. Too much care from the author. D. The unfamiliar environment. 5. Which can best describe Amy during her first school visit? A. Scared. B. Nervous. C. Patient. D. Well-received. 6. What did Amy gain during the second school visit? A. Kisses from the author. B. A physical reward. C. Freedom. D. A new neck chain. 7. What can be known about the school visits? A. They are a win-win experience. B. They are designed to make good pet owners. C. They teach children to earn respect. D. They are organized by the animal shelter. C For thousands of years, Chinese writers have travelled all over the country to take down notes about the geographical conditions of each city. Among them, well-known Chinese geographer and writer Li Daoyuan, in the Northern Wei Dynasty (386-534), composed his book, Commentary on the Water Classics, after studying the original literary version, Water Classics. He later expanded the river records to 1,252 from the original 137. The book is now being studied again by Professor Li Xiaojie and his team from Fudan University. They have been using drawing software and 3D modelling to recreate the waterway situations on a map based on the book description. So far, they have completed research on four rivers. “Ancient people knew really well how to apply the power of nature to technical considerations,” Li said, giving the example of Qianjin’e, one of the most famous ancient water conservation projects in Luoyang, Henan. In order to lead the river into the city for irrigation in ancient Luoyang, the officials built a canal branch by separating a northwest-southeast river. However, the canal water wasn’t enough to support the citizens in dry seasons. To solve that, on the northern side of the canal branch, the officials built a reservoir (水库) and a channel to lead the water to the canal branch, where the waterways would converge and flow together to the city. In Commentary on the Water Classics, a total of 2,800 cities are recorded with details. Still, the process of recreation takes much effort. After doing a lot of text analysis and fieldwork, the team has gradually created the model with 3D modelling software based on repeated deductions (推论). For Professor Li, the book is not only a record of the natural landscape over 1,000 years ago, but also a detailed description of humanity and culture and a treasure for today’s reference. 8. What can we learn about the book Commentary on the Water Classics? A. It has been out of date. B. It explains 3D modelling. C. It keeps records of 137 rivers. D. It is based on previous studies. 9. Why does the author mention the Qianjin’e water conservancy project? A. To prove ancient people’s wisdom in using the power of nature. B. To explain detailed design principles of ancient water projects. C. To show the book’s guiding value for modern engineering. D. To introduce the history of ancient Chinese water conservancy. 10. What does paragraph 4 mainly tell us about model recreation? A. Its major problems. B. Its detailed analysis. C. Its complex process. D. Its successful application. 11. Which of the following can be the best title for the text? A. 3D Technology Fuels Modern Research B. Ancient Classics Inspire Modern Research C. An Effective Approach to Model Recreation D. A Famous Writer of Chinese Ancient Classics D In 1964, the killing of Kitty Genovese in New York shocked the world — not only for its violence, but for the lack of action of those who saw or heard it. Reports said dozens of neighbours failed to intervene or even call the police. Though later investigations revealed the original story had been overstated (夸大), the image of the silent crowd remained. Psychologists John Darley and Bibb Latané seized on the event and began a series of experiments. They discovered a troubling pattern: the more witnesses present, the less likely any individual was to help. Responsibility, it seemed, was a weak thing, quick to disappear in the crowd. Their findings showed the steps between seeing and acting. First comes noticing. Then comes understanding — is this truly an emergency? Then the question of responsibility — is it mine? At each stage, hesitation grows when others are present. In one study, participants sat in a room filling out a form as smoke began to spread in the building. When alone, they acted almost immediately. In groups, many ignored the smoke altogether, looking at one another’s calm faces and regarding others’ inaction as a sign of safety. Later research complicated the picture. In real-world emergencies recorded in video, bystanders often did intervene, and larger crowds sometimes meant that someone stepped forward. Context matters: people are quicker to help in dangerous or clear situations, or when directly ordered, such as: “You, call the police.” And close groups prove more willing than strangers gathered by chance. The lesson is uncomfortably simple: observation alone is not enough. To notice without acting can be fear disguised as politeness, or weakness hidden behind calm. Sometimes the most human act is to break the spell of the crowd, to turn seeing into clear responsibility — and to step forward when everyone else stands still. 12. What does the underlined word “intervene” mean in paragraph 1? A. offer help. B. watch closely. C. stay nearby. D. keep calm. 13. According to paragraph 3, how does the presence of others affect people’s actions? A. It makes people act more quickly. B. It increases hesitation and reduces action. C. It encourages people to take responsibility. D. It helps people better understand emergencies. 14. Which of the following people is most likely to step forward to help? A. A person in a large crowd of strangers. B. A person who is directly told to call the police. C. A person in a group where everyone looks calm. D. A person who is unsure whether it is an emergency. 15. What message does the author want to convey? A. Staying calm in all situations. B. Waiting for others to offer help. C. Taking responsibility and acting when necessary. D. Avoiding dangerous situations whenever possible. New Year’s Eve Fun Ideas December 31 is the perfect opportunity to end the past 12 months with a bang and kick off the coming year in the most memorable way. To enrich our school life and show our interest in English, our class planned to put on an English short play. Unexpectedly, I was selected to play one of the leading roles. However, I was an extremely shy and quiet student. I dared not speak English loudly in front of others, let alone perform on a formal stage. The moment I thought of standing in front of the whole school, my heart would pound wildly and my hands would tremble with nervousness. I was trapped in great anxiety and even wanted to quit the role right away. I turned to my English teacher for help and poured out my inner worry. Sensing my nervousness, my teacher didn’t blame me. Instead, she comforted me patiently and encouraged me to seize this chance to challenge myself. She promised to spare her spare time to practice my lines and correct my pronunciation after school. When I got home, I shared my stress with my mum. She listened to me gently and gave me warm encouragement. She told me that nobody was born brave and growth lay in stepping out of our comfort zone. If I stuck to practicing and believed in myself, I would surely make it. Moved by my teacher and my mum, I finally made up my mind to take the challenge. In the following days, I devoted myself to full preparation. I recited my lines over and over again, adjusted my tone and facial expressions, and rehearsed repeatedly with my English teacher. Whenever I felt upset and wanted to give up, my teacher would inspire me, and my mum would comfort me and cheer me up at home. Soon the day of the English Carnival arrived. Waiting backstage, I was surrounded by great tension. My legs turned weak and my mind went blank. I was seized by fear and even had the foolish idea of escaping at once. Paragraph 1: Just as I was about to lose heart, my English teacher came to my side instantly. ____________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________ Paragraph 2: Minutes later, I took a deep breath and walked onto the stage. ____________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________ 第1页/共1页 学科网(北京)股份有限公司 $ 高一英语 全卷满分150分,考试时间120分钟。 1. B 5. D 6. C 7. 根据第一段中“When I took Amy home from the animal shelter, she was scared. I believed she had been abused (虐待) because she was afraid of anything my husband, Bill, or I held in our hands. (当我从动物收容所把Amy带回家时,她很害怕。我认为她受到了虐待,因为她害怕我丈夫Bill或我手里拿着的任何东西。)”可知,过去的虐待使Amy害怕。 【5题详解】 推理判断题。根据第二段中“The students clapped in joy and Amy received a reward. Then the students got to touch the dog. One by one they came up to meet Amy… I thought the children liked staying with us. (学生们高兴地鼓起掌来,Amy也因此得到了奖励。然后学生们可以抚摸这只狗。他们一个接一个地上来迎接Amy……我以为孩子们喜欢和我们呆在一起。)”可知,Amy受到学生们的喜爱,表明它在第一次学校访问中很受欢迎。 【6题详解】 细节理解题。根据第三段中“When I took the chain off her neck, Amy shook her tail happily and wouldn’t stop licking (舔) my face. That was when we talked about “breaking the chain”. (当我把链子从她脖子上取下来时,Amy高兴地摇着尾巴,不停地舔我的脸。这就是我们所说的“打破链子”。)”可知,Amy在第二次学校访问中从链子中解脱,获得了自由。 【7题详解】 推理判断题。根据第四段中“I think the children have learned a lot about respect and patience. (我觉得孩子们学到了很多关于尊重和耐心的知识。)”和最后一段“Amy loves the program and has come so far since I found her a few years ago. (Amy非常喜欢这个项目,自从几年前我找到她以来,她的成长变化很大。Amy已经打破了链子,她对这些孩子的关爱将帮助他们成为优秀的宠物主人。)”可知,学校访问对Amy和孩子们都有好处,这是一种双赢的经历。 C For thousands of years, Chinese writers have travelled all over the country to take down notes about the geographical conditions of each city. A Famous Writer of Chinese Ancient Classics 【答案】8. D 9. A 10. C 11. 根据第一段“Among them, well-known Chinese geographer and writer Li Daoyuan, in the Northern Wei Dynasty (386-534), composed his book, Commentary on the Water Classics, after studying the original literary version, Water Classics. (其中,中国著名地理学家、作家郦道元在北魏时期(386-534年),在研究了原始文学版本《水经》之后,创作了他的著作《水经注》。)”可知,《水经注》是在先前研究(《水经》)的基础上创作的。 【9题详解】 推理判断题。根据第三段““Ancient people knew really well how to apply the power of nature to technical considerations,” Li said, giving the example of Qianjin’e, one of the most famous ancient water conservation projects in Luoyang, Henan. (“古人非常清楚如何将自然的力量应用于技术考量,”李教授说,并以河南洛阳最著名的古代水利工程之一千金堨为例。)”可知,作者提到千金堨水利工程是为了证明古人在利用自然力量方面的智慧。 【10题详解】 主旨大意题。根据第四段“Still, the process of recreation takes much effort. After doing a lot of text analysis and fieldwork, the team has gradually created the model with 3D modelling software based on repeated deductions (推论). D In 1964, the killing of Kitty Genovese in New York shocked the world — not only for its violence, but for the lack of action of those who saw or heard it. 【答案】12. A 13. B 14. B 15. C 【解析】 【导语】这篇文章主要介绍了基蒂事件催生心理学家对旁观者效应的研究,发现围观者越多个人越易袖手旁观。后续研究表明情境影响施救行为,文章呼吁人们主动担责、打破群体沉默及时出手。 【12题详解】 词句猜测题。根据第一段中“In 1964, the killing of Kitty Genovese in New York shocked the world — not only for its violence, but for the lack of action of those who saw or heard it.( 1964 年,纽约市的基蒂·吉诺维斯遇害事件震惊了全世界——不仅因为其暴力性质,还因为目睹或听到这一事件的那些人没有采取任何行动。)”以及划线单词句中“Reports said dozens of neighbours failed to… or even call the police.( 报道称,数十名邻居未能……,甚至没有报警。)”可知,此处描述了邻居们既没有介入提供帮助,甚至也没有报警的情况。由此可知,“intervene”在此处意为“干预、介入(提供帮助)”,与A选项offer help“提供帮助”同义。 【13题详解】 细节理解题。根据第三段“Their findings showed the steps between seeing and acting. First comes noticing. Then comes understanding — is this truly an emergency? Then the question of responsibility — is it mine? At each stage, hesitation grows when others are present.( 他们的研究揭示了从看到情况到采取行动的步骤。首先是注意到。然后是理解——这真的是紧急情况吗?接着是责任问题——这是我的责任吗?在每个阶段,当有其他人在场时,犹豫就会增加。)”可知,他人的存在会增加犹豫、减少行动。 【14题详解】 推理判断题。根据第五段中“Context matters: people are quicker to help in dangerous or clear situations, or when directly ordered, such as: “You, call the police.” And close groups prove more willing than strangers gathered by chance.( 环境因素很重要:在危险或明显危险的情况下,或者在直接被命令的情况下(比如:“你,去报警。”),人们会更快地伸出援手。而偶然聚集在一起的陌生人则往往不愿意帮忙。)”可推知,被直接告知要报警的人有可能挺身而出提供帮助。 【15题详解】 推理判断题。根据最后一段“The lesson is uncomfortably simple: observation alone is not enough. To notice without acting can be fear disguised as politeness, or weakness hidden behind calm. Sometimes the most human act is to break the spell of the crowd, to turn seeing into clear responsibility — and to step forward when everyone else stands still.( 这个教训令人不安地简单:仅仅观察是不够的。 New Year’s Eve Fun Ideas December 31 is the perfect opportunity to end the past 12 months with a bang and kick off the coming year in the most memorable way. 注意:1.续写词数应为150个左右; 2.请按如下格式在答题卡的相应位置作答。 Paragraph 1: Just as I was about to lose heart, my English teacher came to my side instantly. ____________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________ Paragraph 2: Minutes later, I took a deep breath and walked onto the stage. ____________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________ 【答案】 Just as I was about to lose heart, my English teacher came to my side instantly. She patted me gently on the shoulder and told me all our hard practice would pay off. She advised me to take it easy and just act as we had rehearsed. Meanwhile, I caught sight of my mum sitting among the audience, wearing a reassuring smile and giving me a thumbs-up. Their support filled me with strength. I gathered all my courage and decided to face the challenge bravely. Minutes later, I took a deep breath and walked onto the stage. Though I felt a little nervous at first, I soon calmed down and focused on my performance. I delivered my lines fluently and acted naturally. When the play ended, the hall burst into warm applause. Seeing my mum’s proud look and my teacher’s satisfied smile, I felt a strong sense of achievement. I finally overcame my shyness. This English Carnival let me understand that facing fear bravely is the best way to grow into a better self. 词汇激活 行为类 ①决定:decide/determine ②克服:overcome /get over 情绪类 ①紧张的:nervous /tense ②害羞:shyness /timidity 【点睛】【高分句型 1】She patted me gently on the shoulder and told me all our hard practice would pay off.(运用了省略 that 的宾语从句) 【高分句型 2】This English Carnival let me understand that facing fear bravely is the best way to grow into a better self.(运用了 that 引导的宾语从句,动名词短语作主语,动词不定式作后置定语) 第1页/共1页 学科网(北京)股份有限公司 $
