66.One possible version:
The rapid development of Embodied AI leads to a heated discussion about its impact on daily routines. Opinions concerning this topic vary from person to person.
Some believe that once robots take over repetitive tasks like driving, washing and cooking, people will enjoy freedom. However,I strongly disagree.First of all, relying too much on Embodied AI makes us weak — what if the power goes out?In addition, doing the dishes or cooking builds bonds that no machine can create.More importantly, the process of learning these skills gives us a sense of achievement and self-worth.
In my view,Embodied AI should be a helper, not a replacement for human. While embracing convenience,we must not let go of the skills that keep us connected and truly alive.

67.【答案】The next day, Harry dragged boxes full of old toys and books to the yard. He carefully arranged each item, hoping to attract potential buyers. As he set up the stall, neighbors and passers-by began to stop by, intrigued by the variety of goods on display. Harry enthusiastically explained the features of each toy and book, sharing stories behind some of his favorites. The sun shone brightly overhead, and with each sale, Harry’s excitement grew. Not only was he making progress towards his goal, but he was also learning valuable lessons about communication and negotiation.
When the last customer left, Harry counted the day’s earnings. To his surprise and delight, the total took his breath away — it was more than enough for the tablet’s basic model! A wave of fierce pride washed over him, stronger than any excitement he’d felt just wanting the device. He realized Dad was right: the hours spent sorting, pricing, hauling, and selling had transformed the tablet from a mere object of desire into something deeply personal and valuable. Through effort and perseverance, he could not only achieve his dream but also develop a deeper appreciation for the value of hard work. This tablet wouldn’t just be new; it would be earned.

听力材料
Text 1
W: Excuse me, sir. We have a no-smoking policy here.
M: Oh, sorry. I just came in to grab a coffee.
Text 2
W: Rose’s new song is so catchy! I’ve been playing it on repeat!
M: I listened to it, but there’s nothing new or exciting about it. I was bored after one listen.
Text 3
W: The chocolate brownie is £4.50.
M: Hmm? Aren’t all your items supposed to be 20% off?
W: That was last week’s promotion, sir. Now everything is back to its original price.
Text 4
W: Sir, I heard you wanted to see me.
M: Yes. I ordered the spicy fish hotpot. Come and try it! The fish must have been sitting there for days.
Text 5
W: Sam, could you give me a ride to Manchester this weekend?
M: Sorry, Zoe—change of plans. My company is sending me to Birmingham on Friday, and I won’t be back in London until next Monday.
Text 6
M: Excuse me, may I see your license?
W: I’m afraid I’ve left it at home.
M: In that case, you’ll have to take it to the police station within five days.
W: But why?
M: You were speeding, madam.
W: But I was only doing 75!
M: There’s a 70 kilometers per hour speed limit on this road, Madam.
W: Is there? I didn’t see a sign.
M: Well, madam. We’ve been following you.
W: So you were doing 75 too.
M: No, madam. We were doing 90 kilometers per hour, or we couldn’t catch you.
Text 7
W: Are you nearly done with your homework? Dad wants me to look at the computer and figure out why he keeps getting error messages.
M: I’m finished, Naomi. I’m just playing around with DeepSeek. It’s meant to be just as useful as ChatGPT, but it uses far less computing power.
W: That’s good. One of my biggest issues with AI has always been its energy use. All those computers require huge amounts of electricity, plus water for cooling...
M: I see.
W: Anyway, hurry up. I’m meeting my friends at the skate park in an hour, and I promised Dad that I’d solve the problem before leaving.
M: Okay! Are you eating dinner here, though?
W: Yeah. Let me know when it’s ready.
Text 8
W: Hey, morning! I didn’t expect to run into anyone here so early.
M: Yeah! I usually come for a jog around this time. Jogging in the morning makes me feel energized for the day
W: Me too. I’ve been trying to make morning runs a habit but it’s tough.
M: I totally get that. What helps me is setting a small goal like running for just 20 minutes. Once you’re out there, it feels easier to keep going.
W: Good idea! I often get stuck, thinking I need to do a full workout and then I end up skipping it all together.
M: Yeah! Start small and make it fun. I always find wonderful songs to listen to. When I listen to fast music, I feel stronger and I can run farther without feeling tired.
W: Sounds great! I’ll give it a try. Thanks!
Text 9
M: When is Easter this year?
W: Um. . Sunday the 9th of April. Why?
M: I can never remember! Some years it’s in March; some years it’s in April. Why can’t it be the same each year, like Christmas?
W: Well, it’s one of those festivals that’s based on the lunar calendar, rather than the solar calendar, just like the Chinese New Year.
M: Oh, I see.
W: Does your family do anything to celebrate Easter? My dad always makes delicious food.
M: Yeah. I’ll be attending my family’s big party this year, and having a great time with my family. My mom always does an Easter egg hunt for my nieces and nephews.
W: Oh, nice! The game is the best part of the festival...the chocolate eggs! Did you believe in the Easter Rabbit when you were a kid?
M: Of course!
W: It’s pretty crazy when you think about it. A huge magic rabbit that delivers eggs? Rabbits don’t even lay eggs!
M: I know! But the little kids love it. They get so excited.
Text 10
W: First off, congratulations to us all on the progress we’ve made since setting our New Year’s resolutions. Most of you chose to redesign habits around diet. But my focus was on my use of technology. I realized my phone was controlling my life. It hurt my sleep, my relationships, and my ability to work or relax.
Phones are not bad. It’s the way we use them that can be bad. After talking about this with my friends, they encouraged me to try a new and exciting idea. I turned off all alarms and bells, and limited myself to one hour on my phone each day. I knew it would be hard, but my teachers and parents supported me so much.
The biggest shock was all the hours I suddenly got back. At first, I didn’t know what to do with myself. Then it clicked. I read books, and took long walks. Overall, I felt more satisfied than ever before.
Before I share more stories, I want to show you one more thing. Here is the research data on how lower phone use can reduce stress. Let’s take a look.

67.【答案】 The next day, Harry dragged boxes full of old toys and books to the yard.

When Li Linxuan was a freshman at Zhounan Middle School in Changsha, he often helped his family with farm work. “Peanut shells were always burned after harvest, filling the air with smoke,” he recalled. But during a biology class, he learned how decomposers turn plant waste into nutrient-rich soil. “If nature recycles waste, why can’t we turn peanut shells into something valuable?” he wondered.
This thought connected with what he learned about “carbon neutrality” in environmental science. His teacher explained that super capacitors (电容器) — critical for new energy vehicles and smart grids — rely on electrode materials from oil or metals, which are costly and polluting. Li teamed up with his classmate Zeng Zijun to research alternatives. After reading dozens of journals, they found peanut shells are rich in carbon, ideal for making activated carbon used in energy storage.
Their experiment began with collecting 50 kilograms of peanut shells from local farms. First, they dried and crushed the shells, then tried heating them and treating them with chemicals like KOH to create porous structures — a key step for energy storage. “We failed over 100 times,” Zeng said. “Sometimes the carbon cracked; other times it couldn’t conduct electricity.” With guidance from Zhang Zhigang, an experienced coach of youth tech competitions, they adjusted heating time and chemical ratios, finally mastering material modification and process optimization (优化).
Tests showed their material stored nearly as much energy as commercial electrodes but cost 60% less. “We want farmers to sell peanut shells instead of burning them, and explore flexible electronics applications,” Li said. Zhang noted it “reflects teenagers’ deep thinking on environmental protection and energy crises”. Now, they’re competing for the 20th Song Qingling Children’s Invention Award — one of China’s top youth tech honors with 46,000 entries this year — and talking to factories about mass production. “This is ‘treating waste with waste,’ forming a ‘resource-product-recycled resource’ green loop,” environmental experts said.

Cities have adopted different approaches when it comes to street lighting, but all approaches have prioritized bright uniform street lighting for safety. However, evidence shows that this artificial lighting can change the behavior of nocturnal (夜行的) wildlife. To address this problem, Gladsaxe, a suburb of Copenhagen, introduced a new lighting approach by installing red-spectrum (红色光谱) LED street lighting along a 700-meter stretch of Frederiksborgvej and the Farum cycle superhighway.
Gladsaxe’s red lighting helps limit the ecological impact that often comes with white light while still preserving visibility for road users. As far as a trade-off around light pollution goes, the Gladsaxe project provides a potential model for other cities.
During the initial installation in 2022, the lighting design used 30 one-meter-high bollards (桩) spaced30 meters apart to project red light that leaves spaces of complete darkness between them, which the designers said allow light-shy bats to cross without exposure while still providing lighting continuity for the bicycle path. At locations where cyclists and pedestrians cross the road, the project added 12 poles at 3.5 meters to create a distinct visual environment and improve safety at those points.
Partnering design company Light Bureau reported the installation met required lighting and uniformity levels in selected sections to support Danish road and cycle-path standards, and the project received a Build Back Better GREEN Award in 2022 for minimizing negative impacts on biodiversity while providing safe passage for road users. Light Bureau stated it intended to continue working with biologists to evaluate whether the red-spectrum approach achieved its intended ecological outcomes, indicating post-installation monitoring and assessment would inform future installations or adjustments.
The project is now being viewed as a potential model for other cities worldwide dealing with light pollution and its effects on wildlife, while demonstrating how urban design can be adapted to meet both human safety needs and environmental goals.
28.What is the purpose of the Gladsaxe project?
A.To reduce energy consumption. B.To make the streets more pleasing.
C.To improve visibility for residents. D.To minimize disturbance to wildlife.
29.What can be learnt about the bollards and the poles?
A.They are intended to ensure the safety of installers.
B.They balance the needs of animals and path users.
C.They serve as special decorations along the route.
D.They are of similar heights and evenly spaced.
30.What can we say about the project based on Light Bureau’s report?
A.It’s received recognition. B.It’s postponed intended outcomes.
C.It’s secured partnerships. D.It’s stopped light pollution worldwide.
31.What can be a suitable title for the text?
A.White Light, Bright Night. B.Light Pollution in the City.
C.Red Light, Safe Night. D.Lighting for the Wildlife.

You might have seen it — maybe sitting on a desk, or looking at you from a clear box like a curious little creature — The Labubu doll. As a family therapist and mom of teens, I notice these funny-looking collectible toys actually help us understand young people’s feelings. If we pay attention, we’ll see something important: Our kids are going through the tough but amazing journey of growing up.
Labubu’s charm isn’t about looks, but what it represents. It’s odd but interesting — just like being a teenager. At this age, kids are pulled between opposites: independence and dependence, fitting in and standing out, childlike play and teenage complexity. Labubu’s design shows these struggles. Its big eyes, wild smile, and crazy expression mirror the emotional chaos teens feel while figuring out who they are.
During development, young people often prefer unusual or striking things, not because they’re troubled, but because they’re learning to balance complicated emotions. Psychologists call this “symbolic mastery” — a process where individuals gain control over confusion or fear by owning related objects. When something catches your eye but isn’t too scary, it’s perfect for practicing emotional strength.
Another key aspect is blind boxes. Labubu’s sealed packaging offers occasional rewards through uncertainty. Beyond excitement, it provides a safe context for teens to embrace surprises. This strengthens symbolic mastery: “I can handle not knowing. I can bear tension. I accept uncertainty.”
Of course, it’s not just about pleasure. It’s also about connection. Labubu acts as a social signal: “Look, I got the rare one!” Such items convey belonging, showing that one understands the trend and fits in. While often seen negatively, peer pressure here marks a key developmental step. Learning to read social rules and bond with friends are signs of growing up. Thus, when your child wants a Labubu because “others have it”, it is a healthy desire for inclusion. You need not agree, but understanding the psychology behind matters.
32. What does Labubu’s design reflect?
A. Fancy trend of collectible toys. B. The inner conflict of teenagers.
C. Daily uncertainties teens face. D. The desire of teens for freedom.
33. Which of the following best demonstrates “symbolic mastery”?
A. A person with stage fright refuses to perform.
B. A child plays with a toy fire engine after a fire.
C. A nervous student stays up late for a final exam.
D. An employee takes online courses to get promoted.
34. What might the author advise parents to do on teens’ collectible purchases?
A. Teach them how to fit in. B. Follow the social trend.
C. Decline them immediately. D. Value their inner needs.
35. What does the text mainly discuss about the Labubu doll?
A. Its various designs. B. The secret of its success.
C. Its psychological value. D. Concerns about its impact.

The Silent Weaver: Threads of Time
In the ancient water town of Wuzhen, a rhythmic clacking echoes from a quiet workshop. Inside, 68-year-old Master Gu sits before his large wooden loom. His skilled hands weave vibrant silk threads into complex patterns. He is creating a brocade (织锦), but he is also guarding a fading legacy. This scene tells a story of devotion. 36
Master Gu learned the craft as a young boy under his grandfather’s strict guidance. His childhood was filled with silk textures and complex patterns, not carefree play. The work was demanding; one misplaced thread could ruin weeks of effort. As a young man, he may have dreamed of life beyond the town’s tranquil canals. 37 When others left for modern cities, he stayed. He became the last keeper of a family skill dating to the Ming Dynasty.
The silent looms became his companions. 38 It required sitting still for hours, holding the entire design in mind while focusing on every detail. In our age of fast fashion, his slow work seemed impractical. Beyond financial pressure, he feared his art would die with him.
Faced with these challenges, he persevered. He began to teach the few young apprentices who showed interest. Progress was slow, but he believed true skill must pass hand to hand. 39 It connects past glory to present appreciation.
Today, his brocades decorate museums and serve as diplomatic gifts. Yet his true story goes beyond fabric. It captures the artisan spirit. 40 In his commitment, we see that a craftsperson’s greatest masterpiece is a life of meaning — weaving a living thread between history and future.
A. The real challenge was mental endurance.
B. But the call of duty held him firmly in place.
C. Such money problems nearly made him give up the craft for good.
D. It is a story where preserving true beauty demands personal sacrifice.
E. This spirit is a resilient love that chooses to perfect one thing against change.
F. Restoring antique textiles taught him that craftsmanship is a bridge across time.
G. It involved mastering hundreds of unique weaving techniques passed down in secret.

Harry slammed (猛关) his bedroom door. He’d been begging Dad for a new tablet for weeks — one with a fast camera to take photos for his art class. But Dad just shook his head every time.
“We need to save for your younger sister’s school trip to the science museum,”he’d said.Harry thought to himself,“It’s not fair. All my friends have one for their projects.”
That evening,Dad found Harry sitting in the backyard, sad. He pulled up a chair and sat down, asking Harry, “Remember that red bike in the storage room? That thing used to be my pride and joy.”Harry nodded, thinking of the dusty thing covered by a strong cloth.
“I wanted a new bike more than anything when I was your age,”Dad said.“Your grandpa found that red one at a junkyard — with a bent wheel. He said we couldn’t afford a new one.So I spent every weekend out here, fixing that old one — straightening the wheel, patching (修补) the tires, even repainting it red with leftover paint found in the storage room.”He laughed softly.“When I finally rode it,I felt prouder than if it had been brand-new.I earned it.”
“Why are you telling me this? My tablet isn’t a bike,”Harry responded.
“Because wanting things is easy,”Dad said.“But working for them? That’s when you start caring about how hard it is to get. That’s how you learn what they’re really worth.I know you want a tablet very much. But your sister’s trip — she’s been talking about it since the second grade.Maybe there’s a way to do both.”
Harry’s throat suddenly felt tight.“What if ... what if I sold my old stuff? Toys, books — have a yard sale?”Dad’s eyes lit up.“That’s a good plan. But you have to do the work — pricing, setting up,and selling. Whatever you make, every cent goes towards your tablet.”
