Show pictures of Blue Sky Rescue volunteers (from 1a). Ask: What do you think they are doing? Have you heard of Blue Sky Rescue?

Activate prior knowledge about volunteer work (link to Unit 8 theme).

Step 2: Pre-reading (5 mins)​

Look at 1b: What is a “hook” in a speech? What is a “call to action”?Explain briefly (hook: start with a story/fact to interest the audience; call to action: encourage people to do something).

Predict: What might the speech be about?
