For years, the idea of humans piloting towering, bipedal mechas(巨型载人机甲) was only in science fiction movies and cartoons. People could only see such cool machines on the screen, never thinking they would come into real life. But in China, the line between sci-fi imagination and real engineering is quickly becoming unclear.
In a scene just like a sci-fi trailer, Unitree Robotics CEO Wang Xingxing tested the GD01,a 2.7-meter-tall machine. It is called the world's first ready-to-produce manned mecha. Sitting inside the small cockpit(驾驶舱), Wang controlled the heavy machine to move forward slowly. He also used its strong mechanical arms to lift things and break through walls easily, just like robot pilots in movies.
The transformable(可变形的) mecha was first shown to the public on Tuesday, with a price starting at 3.9 million yuan($650,000). Its first show quickly became popular online. Lots of people watched the test video and left warm comments. Many people called it the great moment when“science fiction becomes reality”.
The GD01 has many amazing functions. It can change its shape freely, work as a civilian vehicle(民用车辆) on the road, and weighs about 500 kg with a person inside. The company said the 3.9-million-yuan price is only a preliminary( 初步的)reference. Huang Jiawei, a marketing worker at Unitree said the final price would be decided according to more users' needs.
China's humanoid robot industry is growing fast these years. In 2025, Chinese companies made nearly 90% of the world's humanoid robot sales. Experts say the GD01 shows China has crossed a key“engineering threshold( 门槛)”. Though it is still not ready for common daily use, the mecha could work in theme parks, rescue (救援) efforts and difficult working environments in the future.

In 2026, at the China Internet Civilization Conference, actor Yu Shi's speech caught widespread attention. Instead of using complex jargon( 术语), he talked about how young people can help spreadChinese traditional culture around the world in new ways, based on his own experiences.
Putting Culture into Practice: Making Traditions Come Alive
Yu Shi believes that traditional culture does not lack good content; what it lacks is updated ways of expression. He has given his answer through actions.

“When young people reimagine and express traditional culture through music, images and actions, it is no longer just the word‘tradition’ in books. Instead, it is a way of life that is still alive today.”
More Than Words:A True Cultural Communicator

He even leads teams to take part in international events himself, making real contributions to the development of traditional horse archery.

(Nancy lives with Bill Sikes, a dangerous thief(小偷), and she is also part of the criminal world he belongs to. Oliver is a young orphan(孤儿) who is in danger, as Sikes plans to harm him.)
Scene One
Nancy had known Sikes for a long time. She had learned to read his moods by the sound of his footsteps and the look in his eyes.
That night, the dark room smelled of smoke and damp(潮湿的) walls. Shadows(阴影) moved on the walls, making the room feel smaller and colder. As Sikes spoke of Oliver, his voice was calm, which scared her more than his anger.
“You’ ll do as I say,” he told her.
Nancy said nothing, but his words lay heavily on her mind. She held the table hard, trying not to shake.
Scene Two
Later, when Sikes had gone out, Nancy sat alone. The house was silent except for the floor making noise. She thought ofOliver-- small, helpless, and surrounded by people who wanted to hurt him.
“I'm no better than the rest,” she said to herself.“But he is different.”
The cold wind pressed against the window, making the room feel even lonelier. At last, she stood up, pulled her coat closely around her, and went out into the dark streets, where street lights shone on the wet stone road.
Scene Three
Nancy met Rose Maylie and Mr. Brownlow in secret. Fog was around their feet. Nancy spoke quickly and every time she heard voices far away, she looked back.
“I am the cause of all this…I am not worth your notice or your kindness. I don't ask you to pity me,” she said.“-- only to protect the boy.”
They listened in silence. When she finished, Rose reached for her hand, but Nancy drew it back(抽回).
“It's enough that you know,” Nancy said.“I must go.”
Scene Four
Nancy returned to Sikes. The room still smelled of smoke. A cold wind came through the small window, making the curtains move a little. She knew what her choice might cost her, but she did not regret it.
Sikes sat on a wooden chair, his eyes fixed on her as if trying to read her mind.
“You’ ve been out,” he said. Nancy stood near the door, her hands folded in front.
“Yes,” Nancy answered.
Nothing more was said, but the danger had already begun.

A Small Light in Me
Everyone has their own light that makes them special. The small light inside me is the spirit of never giving up.
I used to be poor at English. Once I failed an English exam badly and wanted to give it up. However, I told myself not to quit. I made a study plan and kept working hard every day. I recited words in the morning and practiced reading after school. Gradually, my English improved a lot.
This spirit encourages me to face difficulties bravely. It teaches me that as long as I keep trying, I will make progress. This little light will guide me forward forever.
