In the blistering heat (酷热) of 90 degrees Fahrenheit, I watched the elderly woman struggle with a walker and bags of groceries. I’d seen her before, each time feeling guilty I didn’t offer her a lift.
This day, however, slowing down, I opened the window and called out, “Need a ride?” The woman looked tired, with sweat pouring down her exhausted face. “Let me help you with your groceries,” I added.
Getting out of the car, I placed her walker and bags into my trunk. I helped the woman into the passenger seat, and we were off.
She directed me to go farther south, chatting as if we’d known each other for years. Her name was Ida. I found her delightful.
It was starting to get dark. We continued down unfamiliar streets until she finally pointed to an old apartment building where she lived. I began to feel uneasy. Several noisy young men in their early twenties had gathered around the entrance. They were smoking something and appeared threatening. Some were on motorcycles, and one, wearing a hoodie (连帽夹克) over his bushy, long hair, was staring at me intently, too intently and smiling.
I stopped the car and Ida directed a couple of the guys to help with her cart and groceries. She thanked me, and I drove away as fast as I could.
Suddenly I was interrupted by the roar of a motorcycle behind me. Slowing down, I recognized the biker from the apartment house, the one with the hoodie and bushy hair. He didn’t pass me but continued to drive at the same speed as me, waving for me to stop.
No way was I going to stop for a total stranger on a deserted street. In a panic, I reached down for my purse to get my cell phone. I had to call 911. But I felt an empty seat. My purse wasn’t there! “No! She stole my purse!” I thought.

四、段落续写范文
Then I noticed that a different purse was on the floor of my car. It dawned on me that I had mistakenly taken Ida’s purse instead of mine when I helped her get off the car in a panic. It was not Ida who stole my purse. On the contrary, I left my purse in her car. The biker followed me not to hurt me but to return the purse to me. Burning with shame, I pulled over my car slowly and rolled down the window, waiting for him to come close.
I handed him Ida’s purse in shame. The young man smiled gently and handed my purse back to me. He told me that Ida noticed my purse left on the seat and asked him to catch up with me to return it. Looking at his kind smile, I felt even more regretful for my previous prejudice. This unforgettable experience taught me a precious lesson: never judge a person by his appearance easily, for kindness is always hidden inside hearts.
