Step 1 Warm-up & Lead-in
Greet students.
Review the phrase used to do sth and related words about changes.
Lead in the topic: Everyone’s life has changed a lot since primary school. Today we will read a passage about life changes and do related tasks.
Step 2 3a Reading
Present the task: Read the text and find out what stays the same in the student’s life.
Students read the passage silently for the first time to get the main idea.
Read carefully again and mark the differences between past and present.
Check the question together: What stays the same?
Explain difficult words and sentences in the text.
Step 3 3b Table Completion
Ask students to complete the table with information from the passage.
Students finish the task individually.
Check answers as a class and sort out the key information.
Step 4 3c Note-taking Practice
Explain the task: Recall your life in primary school and make notes in the table.
Show the items: home, school, study, neighbourhood, transport, environment.
Students think and write down notes independently.
Invite several students to share their notes with the class.

Explain the writing requirements: Choose three changes to write a short passage, and end with one thing that stays the same.

5. Homework
Basic Task: Read the passage in 3a fluently and recite key sentences.
Consolidation Task: Finish and polish the short passage in 3d.
Oral Task: Talk about your life changes with your desk mate according to the notes in 3c.
Extended Task: Draw two pictures of your life (past and present) and describe them in English.

7. Teaching Reflection
Most students can understand the reading text and complete the table and note-taking tasks well. They can use used to do sth to describe past life correctly. A small number of students have problems with sentence organization in writing. Next time, I will provide more sentence templates and do more writing drills. I will also encourage students to speak more to accumulate expressions for writing.
