根据第三段“The price starts at £245 a night per person, with a minimum two-night stay. 可知,树屋住宿每人每晚最低 245 英镑,最低入住两晚,经计算一对夫妇两人住两晚的最低价格为 245×2×2=980;根据最后一段“Place your booking on our website and you can enjoy a 20% discount on all the above eco-friendly adventures.(在我们的官网完成预订,即可享受以上所有生态友好型体验项目八折优惠。)” 根据倒数第二段“The 630-mile South West Coast Path, part of the world’s longest coastal trail, combines wonderful walks with artistic charm(630英里的西南海岸步道是世界最长海岸步道的一部分,它将美妙的步行与艺术魅力结合在一起。)” We all know how it feels to get lost in a great book. But what's happening in our brains as we dive into it? How is it different from what happens as we experience real life? Now, a new study led by Dr Leila Wehbe and Dr Tom Mitehell of Carnegie Mellon University have provided partial answers to these questions. Since reading comprehension is a highly complex process, earlier studies tried to break that process down and focus on just one aspect at a time: mapping fMRI signatures (特征) associated with processing a single word or sentence, for example. “It's usually not like reading a book, and usually the stimulus (刺激物) consists of out-of-context sentences designed specifically for the experiment”. To address these issues, the researchers developed a computer program to look for patterns of brain activity that appeared when people read certain words, specific grammatical structures, particular characters names and other aspects of the story — a total of 195 different “story features”. In the study, they first asked eight volunteers to read Chapter 9 of Harry Potter and the Sorcerer's Stone and recorded their brain activity using an fMRI scanner (扫描仪). Then the researchers fed the volunteers' fMRI data into their computer program and had the program identify the responses of different brain regions to the 195 features mentioned above. The result showed that when the volunteers read descriptions of physical movement in the story, there was significantly increased activity in the posterior temporal cortex, the region involved in perceiving real-world movement. Besides dialogue was specifically related with the right temporoparietal junction, a key area involved in imagining others thoughts and goals. "This is truly shocking for us as these regions aren't even considered to be part of the brain's language system," Wehbe says. Next, Wehbe and Mitchell hope to study how and why language processing can go wrong. “If we have a large enough amount of data”, Wehbe says, “we could find the specific ways in which one brain — for example, the brain of a dyslexic (诵读困难的) person — is performing differently from other brains.” And this, the researchers think, may someday help us design individually tailored (特制的) treatments for dyslexia and other reading disorders. 4. What can we learn from the second paragraph? A. The uniqueness of the new study. B. The limitations of previous studies. C. The unresolved issues in previous studies. D. The researchers' purpose in conducting the new study. 5. What did the researchers use the computer program to do? A. Develop new tools to improve reading skills. B. Examine how reading stories impacts the human brain. C. Discover the biological basis of reading as a hobby. D. Explore how the brain responds to different story features. 6. What does Wehbe think of the result of the study in paragraph 4? A. Annoying. B. Amazing. C. Embarrassing. D. Exciting. 7. Which would probably take place according to the researchers? A. Individualized treatments for reading disorders. B. Less misunderstanding about reading disorders. C. Accurate prediction of the occurrence of dyslexia. D. More advanced technology for processing language. B 5. D 6. B 7. 根据文章第二段“Since reading comprehension is a highly complex process, earlier studies tried to break that process down and focus on just one aspect at a time: mapping fMRI signatures(特征)associated with processing a single word or sentence, for example. It's usually not like reading a book, and usually the stimulus(刺激物)consists of out-of-context sentences designed specifically for the experiment(由于阅读理解是一个非常复杂的过程,早期的研究试图将这个过程分解,一次只关注一个方面:例如,绘制与处理单个单词或句子相关的fMRI特征。“这通常不像读书,通常刺激物是由专门为实验设计的脱离上下文的句子组成的)”可知,早期研究存在局限性,故选B项。 【5题详解】 细节理解题。根据文章第三段“To address these issues, the researchers developed a computer program to look for patterns of brain activity that appeared when people read certain words, specific grammatical structures, particular characters names and other aspects of the story—a total of 195 different "story features(为了解决这些问题,研究人员开发了一个计算机程序,用于寻找人们在阅读某些单词、特定语法结构、特定角色名字以及故事的其他方面时出现的大脑活动模式——总共195种不同的“故事特征)”可知,研究人员使用计算机程序来探索大脑对不同故事特征的反应,故选D项。 【6题详解】 推理判断题。根据文章第四段“This is truly shocking for us as these regions aren't even considered to be part of the brain's language system," Wehbe says.(“这确实让我们震惊,因为这些区域甚至不被认为是大脑语言系统的一部分,”Wehbe说)”可知,Wehbe认为研究结果令人惊讶,故选B项。 【7题详解】 推理判断题。根据文章最后一段“And this, the researchers think, may someday help us design individually tailored(特制的)treatments for dyslexia and other reading disorders(研究人员认为,这可能有一天帮助我们为诵读困难和其他阅读障碍设计个性化的治疗方案)”可知,研究人员认为未来可能会实现针对阅读障碍的个性化治疗,故选A项。 阅读下列短文,从每题所给的四个选项(A、B、C和D)中,选出最佳选项,并在答题卡上将该项涂黑。 As we all know, all work and no play makes Jack a dull boy. Now scientists have given us another warning: spending too much time on smart phones or computers makes you dull too. “Many focus on the benefits of digital devices (设备) in education but ignore the costs,” said Patricia Greenfield from the University of California, “losing the ability to understand the emotions of other people is one of the costs.” Greenfield and her research team did an experiment. They worked with 105 children who spent about 4.5 hours in front of screens on a school day. The students were asked to describe the emotions towards the pictures of people who were happy, sad, angry or scared. Then, half of them attended a five-day nature and science camp. There they had no smart phones, TV, or computers. The other half stayed in school and spent the five days as usual. Five days later, all the children took the test again. Students who had been to the camp got about 5 percent more answers correct than they had done before the camp. But the other group of students didn’t show much improvement. The study is not perfect in some ways, said the researchers. But scientists say that the study is still a warning for us. “Emotional skills develop in practice and the brain develops through real interaction.” said Professor Taylor, a professor at the University of San Francisco. Researchers talked to 2,000 parents of children aged 2-16 in the UK about what activities their children could do confidently. The results were surprising: Their children could use a tablet (平板电脑) (59%) and work a mobile phone (57%) more confidently than they could tie their shoe laces (鞋带) (53%)! So, spend more time away from mobile phones and computers if you want to be an understanding friend, and not a member of what the Daily Mail called “Generation Helpless”. 8. According to Professor Greenfield, what is the consequence of using digital media in education? A. Students don’t get along well with family members. B. Students always make more mistakes when taking exams. C. Students can’t catch up with others in schoolwork. D. Students fail to know other people’s emotions. 9. What do scientists think of the results of Greenfield’s experiment? A. They are far from useful. B. They are alarming for people. C. They are quite surprising. D. They need to be improved. 10. What can we learn from the text? A. Students learned how to describe emotions in the experiment. B. Most of the UK children couldn’t tie their shoe laces. C. Students living without screens did much better in studies. D. Overusing digital devices raised some worries. 11. What is the best title for the text? A. Stay away from the Internet B. Here comes a digital world C. Screens are harmful to emotions D. How people become addicted 【答案】8. D 9. B 10. D 11. C 【解析】 【导语】这是一篇说明文。本文主要讲述了科学家对于人们长期接触电子产品造成的影响的测试。通过对不同组学生参与不同的活动以后的情感测试,得出结果:长期接触电子产品会让人缺失一些情感因素以及降低对他人的理解能力。 【8题详解】 细节理解题。根据文章第二段““Many focus on the benefits of digital devices (设备) in education but ignore the costs,” said Patricia Greenfield from the University of California, “losing the ability to understand the emotions of other people is one of the costs.”(加州大学的Patricia Greenfield说:“许多人只关注数字设备在教育中的好处,却忽视了其代价。失去理解他人情绪的能力是代价之一。”)”可知,根据Greenfield教授的说法,在教育中使用数字设备会导致无法理解他人的情感。故选D。 【9题详解】 细节理解题。根据文章第三段“The study is not perfect in some ways, said the re-searchers. But scientists say that the study is still a warning for us.(研究人员说,从某种意义上说,这项研究并不完美。但是科学家说,这项研究仍然是对我们的一个警告)”可知,科学家们认为Greenfield教授的实验结果给人警告。故选B。 【10题详解】 推理判断题。根据文章第一段““All work and no play make Jack a dull boy.” But now scientists have given us an other warning: too much play with smart phones or computers makes you dull too.”(“只工作不玩耍,聪明孩子也变傻。”但现在科学家们还提醒我们另一个警告:过度玩智能手机或电脑也会让你变傻。)”以及最后一段“The results were surprising: Their children could use a tablet (平板电脑)(59%) and work a mobile phone (57%) more confidently than they could tie their shoe laces (鞋带)(53%)!(结果令人惊讶:他们的孩子在使用平板电脑(59%)和使用手机(57%)时比系鞋带(53%)更自信!)” 根据文章第一段中“But now scientists have given us an other warning:too much play with smart phones or computers makes you dull too.(但是现在科学家们又给了我们另一个警告:玩太多的智能手机和电脑也会让你变得迟钝。)” The goal of this book is to make the case for digital minimalism, including a detailed exploration of what it asks and why it works, and then to teach you how to adopt this philosophy if you decide it’s right for you. To do so, I divided the book into two parts. In part one, I describe the philosophical foundations of digital minimalism, starting with an examination of the forces that are making so many people’s digital lives increasingly intolerable, before moving on to a detailed discussion of the digital minimalism philosophy. Part one concludes by introducing my suggested method for adopting this philosophy: the digital declutter. This process requires you to step away from optional online activities for thirty days. At the end of the thirty days, you will then add back a small number of carefully chosen online activities that you believe will provide massive benefits to the things you value. In the final chapter of part one, I’ll guide you through carrying out your own digital declutter. In doing so, I’ll draw on an experiment I ran in 2018 in which over 1,600 people agreed to perform a digital declutter. You’ll hear these participants’ stories and learn what strategies worked well for them, and what traps they encountered that you should avoid. The second part of this book takes a closer look at some ideas that will help you cultivate (培养) a sustainable digital minimalism lifestyle. In these chapters, I examine issues such as the importance of solitude (独处) and the necessity of cultivating high-quality leisure to replace the time most now spent on mindless device use. Each chapter concludes with a collection of practices, which are designed to help you act on the big ideas of the chapter. You can view these practices as a toolbox meant to aid your efforts to build a minimalist lifestyle that works for your particular circumstances. 12. What is the book aimed at? A. Teaching critical thinking skills. B. Advocating a simple digital lifestyle. C. Solving philosophical problems. D. Promoting the use of a digital device. 13. What does the underlined word “declutter” in paragraph 3 mean? A. Clear-up. B. Add-on. C. Check-in. D. Take-over. 14. What is presented in the final chapter of part one? A. Theoretical models. B. Statistical methods. C. Practical examples. D. Historical analyses. 15. What does the author suggest readers do with the practices offered in part two? A. Use them as needed. B. Recommend them to friends. C. Evaluate their effects. D. Identify the ideas behind them. B 13. A 14. C 15. 根据文章第一段“The goal of this book is to make the case for digital minimalism, including a detailed exploration of what it asks and why it works, and then to teach you how to adopt this philosophy if you decide it’s right for you. (这本书的目标是为数字极简主义辩护,包括详细探索它的要求和为什么有效,然后如果你认为它适合你,教你如何采用这种哲学)”可知,这本书的目的是倡导简单的数字生活方式。故选B。 【13题详解】 词句猜测题。根据画线词下文“This process requires you to step away from optional online activities for thirty days. At the end of the thirty days, you will then add back a small number of carefully chosen online activities that you believe will provide massive benefits to the things you value. (这个过程要求你在30天内远离可选的在线活动。在30天结束的时候,你再加上一些你认为会给你所看重的东西带来巨大好处的精心挑选的在线活动)”可推知,画线词“declutter”的意思是“清理”,对在线活动进行清理和挑选。故选A。 通过文章第四段“In the final chapter of part one, I’ll guide you through carrying out your own digital declutter. In doing so, I’ll draw on an experiment I ran in 2018 in which over 1,600 people agreed to perform a digital declutter. (在第一部分的最后一章中,我将指导您进行自己的数字清理。在这样做的过程中,我将借鉴我在2018年进行的一项实验,在该实验中,1600多人同意进行数字清理)”可推知,第一部分的最后一章介绍了实验与数字清理的实际例子。故选C。 【15题详解】 推理判断题。通过文章最后一段“You can view these practices as a toolbox meant to aid your efforts to build a minimalist lifestyle that works for your particular circumstances. Here are my tips. ___16___ Besides social media, are there any other situations that cause you to play the comparison game? Is there a certain person who is constantly showing off about this or that? Are there certain activities, like strolling (漫步) through a high-end shopping mall, that make you envious?___17___ Write how each negatively affects you. Try to stop yourself next time. ● Remind yourself that other people’s “outsides” can’t be compared to your “insides.” Usually, you can’t use their outward appearance to judge the reality of their life.___18___ You may have had the experience of being shocked when a couple that appeared to be happy and solid announce their divorce. Continue to wish others well, of course, but remind yourself that you don’t actually know what goes on behind closed doors. ● Repeat whenever necessary: “Money doesn’t buy happiness.” It’s well established that wealth isn’t associated with increased happiness. I used to dance flamenco at a fancy resort where very rich people go, and a manager there once told me she’d never seen so many unhappy people in her life. ___19___ Their inability to provide lasting contentment is usually more disappointing than anything else. ● Be grateful for the good in your life. If you commit yourself to being deeply grateful for what’s good in your life and remind yourself of it daily, you’ll be far less defenseless to comparison and envy. If someone or something triggers (引发) that ugly feeling of negative comparison, stop and remind yourself of what’s good in your life, right now. ___20___ A. There is so much. B. Identify the causes and control your envy. C. Use comparison to make yourself a better person. D. Money and things provide temporary boosts of joy. E. Make a list of who and what you frequently compare yourself to. F. Being envious of another person’s money may be a waste of time. G. People carefully select and share the social media versions of their lives. 【答案】16. B 17. E 18. G 19. D 20. A 【解析】 【导语】这是一篇说明文。文章主要就如何停止和他人攀比提出了一些建议。 【16题详解】 根据上文“Besides social media, are there any other situations that cause you to play the comparison game? Are there certain activities, like strolling (漫步) through a high-end shopping mall, that make you envious?(除了社交媒体,还有其他情况会让你玩比较游戏吗?是否有某个人总是在炫耀这个或那个?是否有某些活动,比如在高档购物中心漫步,会让你嫉妒?)”可知,后文列举的问题主要是在反思嫉妒和原因。故B选项“找出原因并控制你的嫉妒”符合语境,故选B。 【17题详解】 根据上文“Besides social media, are there any other situations that cause you to play the comparison game? Is there a certain person who is constantly showing off about this or that? Are there certain activities, like strolling (漫步) through a high-end shopping mall, that make you envious?(除了社交媒体,还有其他情况会让你玩比较游戏吗?是否有某个人总是在炫耀这个或那个?是否有某些活动,比如在高档购物中心漫步,会让你嫉妒?)”以及后文“Write how each negatively affects you. Try to stop yourself next time.(写下每件事对你的负面影响。下次试着阻止自己)”可知,上文列举了一些比较的情况,后文提到写下每件事,可知是把自己与之比较的人和事情写下来。故E选项“列出你经常与之比较的人和事”符合语境,故选E。 【18题详解】 根据上文“Usually, you can’t use their outward appearance to judge the reality of their life.(通常,你不能用他们的外表来判断他们的真实生活)”以及后文“You may have had the experience of being shocked when a couple that appeared to be happy and solid announce their divorce. Continue to wish others well, of course, but remind yourself that you don’t actually know what goes on behind closed doors.(你可能有过这样的经历:当一对看起来很幸福、很稳定的夫妇宣布离婚时,你会感到震惊。当然,继续祝福别人,但要提醒自己,你实际上并不知道关起门来发生了什么)”可知,后文给出的经历表明人们的外在无法代表内在,因为展示的都是他们想要人们看到的。故G选项“人们仔细选择并分享他们生活的社交媒体版本”符合语境,故选G。 【19题详解】 根据上文“It’s well established that wealth isn’t associated with increased happiness. I used to dance flamenco at a fancy resort where very rich people go, and a manager there once told me she’d never seen so many unhappy people in her life.(众所周知,财富与幸福感的增加无关。我曾经在一个非常有钱的人去的豪华度假胜地跳弗拉门戈舞,那里的一位经理曾经告诉我,她一生中从未见过这么多不快乐的人)”以及后文“Their inability to provide lasting contentment is usually more disappointing than anything else.(他们无法提供持久的满足通常比其他任何事情都更令人失望)”可知,上文提到财富与幸福感增加无关,后文Their指代D选项Money and things。故D选项“金钱和物质提供暂时的快乐”符合语境,故选D。 【20题详解】 根据上文“If you commit yourself to being deeply grateful for what’s good in your life and remind yourself of it daily, you’ll be far less defenseless to comparison and envy. If someone or something triggers (引发) that ugly feeling of negative comparison, stop and remind yourself of what’s good in your life, right now.( 如果你对生活中美好的事物深深感激,并每天提醒自己,你就不会对比较和嫉妒毫无防备。如果某人或某事引发了这种消极比较的丑陋感觉,马上停下来,提醒自己生活中什么是好的)”可知,上文提到了提醒自己生活中的好事,本句为本段最后一句,说明生活中的好事很多,不需要比较和嫉妒。故A选项“太多了”符合语境,故选A。 阅读下面短文,从每题所给的A、B、C、D四个选项中选出可以填入空白处的最佳选项。 We were silently waiting on the platform in the late afternoon. This was our time, our senior year. My best friend Beth and I had big dreams and hopes for our last year in high school. “Kris, did you see the girl standing by us in the lunch 1ine—she looks so lost, so out of place.” We had heard of a family that had just moved to our town from the country of Cambodia. We knew there was supposed to be a new girl at our school from that family, but we had yet to meet her until now. Lucy was a small dark-haired beauty. She was starting her freshman year in this new country. She struggled with the little English she knew and that made it very hard for her to get to know people in our small town. In most cases, students of the same grade would sit together. We watched in the lunchroom from our “Senior Table”. This table was reserved (预留) for our “senior sports jock (运动健将) friends,” and no one else. Most of the time, Lucy would get her lunch tray (托盘) with the rest of we students but she always kept her head down with her eyes focused on the floor. She would then head to the table of the freshman class. Unfortunately, it was the table for the most popular girls in the freshman class. Every single day Lucy would sit at the very edge of her seat and eat as fast as she could. She kept her eyes fixed on her food and we never, ever saw her look up. We would watch quietly as the other girls were interacting with each other at her table. They would make gestures to one another and laugh at Lucy while she ate. As we paid attention over the next week, we never heard anyone at her table say “Hi” to Lucy. We decided to try our hardest to let one lonely girl know that there were people who knew she existed. Para1: We sat with Lucy at the freshman girl’s table. ____________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________ Para2: From then on, Lucy began to change. ____________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________ 【答案】 We sat with Lucy at the freshman girl’s table. “Welcome senior sports jock friends.” The popular freshman girls clapped their hands, spotting Beth and I join them at the table. Still, Lucy didn’t move her eyes from the floor. When the popular girls tried interacting with us, I stopped them with my index finger putting in front of my mouth. “Nice to see you, Lucy ”. Tapping her shoulder, Beth leaned forward to Lucy, told her that we had observed her for a week, eager to know something more about her, and expressed the wish to make friends with her. Hearing this , Lucy raised her head . Obviously, she couldn’t help but fight the tears. From then on, Lucy began to change. The following weeks witnessed a timid girl transferring her eyes from the floor to new friends, sparing no efforts to express herself with little English, sharing something funny in Cambodia with the popular girls . For Lucy, being laughed at gave way to being understood and accepted. Beth and I were filled with a sense of comfort and satisfaction, exchanging knowing looks before giving each other a high five. Seeing smile lighting up Lucy’s face, we felt it had been a kind of thumbs- up: “You two are to change the world in a way.” 词汇激活 行为类 ①鼓掌:clap one’s hands/applaud ②注意到,看见:spot/notice ③交流:interact/communicate 情绪类 ①渴望的:eager /desirous ②有趣的:funny/interesting 【点睛】【高分句型1】 The popular freshman girls clapped their hands, spotting Beth and I join them at the table.(运用了现在分词spotting作状语) 【高分句型2】When the popular girls tried interacting with us, I stopped them with my index finger putting in front of my mouth.(运用了When引导的时间状语从句、with复合结构) 【高分句型3】Tapping her shoulder, Beth leaned forward to Lucy, told her that we had observed her for a week, eager to know something more about her, and expressed the wish to make friends with her.(运用了现在分词Tapping作状语、that引导的宾语从句) 第1页/共1页 学科网(北京)股份有限公司 $ 2026年福建省三明市高三下学期命题趋势预测(二) 英语 注意事项: 1. A The UK is full of beautiful landscapes, and there are many eco-friendly ways to enjoy its natural beauty. The result showed that when the volunteers read descriptions of physical movement in the story there was significantly increased activity in the posterior temporal cortex, the region involved in perceiving real-world movement. D. Exciting. 7 Which would probably take place according to the researchers? A. Individualized treatments for reading disorders. B. Less misunderstanding about reading disorders. C. Accurate prediction of the occurrence of dyslexia. D. More advanced technology for processing language. 阅读下列短文,从每题所给的四个选项(A、B、C和D)中,选出最佳选项,并在答题卡上将该项涂黑。 As we all know, all work and no play makes Jack a dull boy. A They are far from useful. How people become addicted 阅读下列短文,从每题所给的A、B、C、D四个选项中选出最佳选项。 The goal of this book is to make the case for digital minimalism, including a detailed exploration of what it asks and why it works, and then to teach you how to adopt this philosophy if you decide it’s right for you. 阅读下面短文,从短文后的选项中选出可以填入空白处的最佳选项。选项中有两项为多余选项。 Stop Comparing Yourself to Others Theodore Roosevelt once said, “Comparison is the thief of joy.” But how can we stop playing the comparison game? G. ____________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________ Para2: From then on Lucy began to change. ____________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________ 第1页/共1页 学科网(北京)股份有限公司 $
