On Feb 23rd, 2026, Unitree G1, a Chinese humanoid robot, performed slow Tai Chi at Beijing Temple of Heaven, attracting worldwide attention online. Different from traditional industrial robots that only repeat fixed orders, Unitree G1 has highly flexible joints(关节) and balanced body sense. It can imitate over 90% of daily human body movements, including bending, turning and standing on one leg.
Developed by a Guangzhou-based tech company, the robot took three years and over 50 professional engineers to finish research and development. It costs nearly 150,000 yuan for single production. It can not only perform traditional Chinese martial arts but also carry out daily tasks like carrying goods, guiding visitors and checking safety risks in buildings. Many foreign media commented that the live show perfectly combined ancient Chinese traditional culture and cutting-edge(前沿的) modern high technology.
However, the robot still has obvious weaknesses. It cannot work stably in rainy or strong-light outdoor environments. Besides, it fails to deal with sudden unexpected situations without preset programs. Scientists further explained that humanoid robots will not replace human jobs in the next decade. They will mainly work in high-risk scenes such as fire rescue, nuclear waste disposal and space exploration, where humans face deadly dangers. For teenagers, learning basic science and logical thinking is still the core of future personal development.

Paperless campus has been widely promoted across all middle schools in Guangdong since September 2025. To cut down waste and live a low-carbon life, most schools now choose electronic handouts, online homework platforms and digital notice boards instead of printing massive paper materials every day. At first, quite a number of teachers and parents felt doubtful. Their biggest concern was that long-time screen learning would greatly harm students’ eyesight and affect their study state.
Latest official education data shows that after half a year of steady promotion, the average paper use of Guangdong middle schools dropped by 47%. Meanwhile, to protect students’ eyes, schools have set fixed eye-care breaks every 40 minutes during classes. Surprisingly, students’ myopia rate(近视率)only rose by 0.3%, which is far lower than the increase in past years. Environmentalists also did a research and pointed out that one ton of saved paper can protect 17 adult trees in forests.
However, experts remind us that paperless does not mean completely abandoning(放弃) paper. In fact, teachers still require students to finish weekly handwriting exercises and note-taking on real paper. Experts explain that handwriting helps develop brain memory and improve learning attention, skills that electronic typing can never take the place of. In a word, proper combination(结合) of digital and paper learning is the key to building a green and low-carbon campus.
1. What was people’s worry about paperless campus?
A. Higher school cost B. Worse eyesight C. Low learning efficiency D. Data safety risks
2. How many trees can be protected by saving 2 tons of paper?
A. 17 B. 34 C. 47 D. 94
3. Why do schools still ask students to do handwriting exercises?
A. Paper is cheaper than electronic devices B. Handwriting helps improve memory and attention
C. Students dislike online homework D. Teachers are not good at using digital tools
4. Which of the following is TRUE according to the passage?
A. Paper use in schools fell by nearly half after the policy. B. Students’ myopia rate increased greatly in half a year.
C. All schools in China have started paperless campus. D. Electronic typing can replace handwriting completely.
5. What is the author’s opinion?
A. We should cancel all paper use B. Digital learning is better than handwriting
C. Balance two learning ways D. Myopia cannot be prevented

热点原文:校园短假期低碳出行倡议
To cut carbon emission, Guangdong Education Department calls on all middle school students to choose low-carbon ways during short holidays. Official data shows that student family self-driving travel increases traffic congestion and carbon waste every holiday. Too many private cars on roads not only slow down traffic, but also produce lots of harmful gas to pollute the air.
Suggested low-carbon ways include shared bikes, public buses and intercity high-speed railways. Besides, students are encouraged to take group travel instead of individual family travel. Group travel can reduce total vehicle use effectively. It is also a great chance for students to make more friends.
The department also suggests students record low-carbon travel logs and share them on campus platforms. So far, thousands of students across the province have taken part in this activity. Excellent logs will be shown in provincial student education exhibitions and win small prizes for their creators.
Low-carbon travel is a simple way to protect our environment. The government hopes teenagers can develop good green living habits and stick to low-carbon travel all the time.

Dear Tom,
I'm glad to share my ideas about AI learning tools.
AI is really helpful for us students. It can answer difficult questions, sort out our mistake exercises and even help us practice oral English. However, if we depend on it too much, we will lose the ability to think independently and our writing skills will become worse.
In my opinion, we should use AI properly. Always think on our own first and treat AI as a helper, not a replacement.
Yours,
Li Hua

Dear Tom,
Now let me talk about how middle school students use AI learning tools.
These tools bring us many advantages. They can solve problems, organize wrong questions and improve our spoken English. Yet over-reliance on AI does harm to us. It will make us unable to think independently and weaken our writing ability.
I suggest we use AI wisely. We must focus on independent thinking and use AI only when necessary.
Yours,
Li Hua
