阅读下列短文,从每题所给的A、B、C和D四个选项中,选出最佳选项。
A
In our fast-paced, stressful lives, we’re often turning to social media, online shopping, or gaming to escape daily pressures. However, the experience can often be the opposite, leaving us more exhausted. This begs the question: do we scroll because we’re stressed, or are we stressed because we scroll?
To better understand the subtle (微妙的) relationship of stress and internet use, particularly how specific online behaviors influence stress levels, Belal’s team, from Finland’s Aalto University, conducted one of the first studies. They recorded real-world internet usage through tracking software installed on participants’ devices. Combined with a large sample size and a lengthy observation period, the findings offer especially valuable insight into how online habits tie in with stress.
The study, published in the Journal of Medical Internet Research, collected internet usage data from around 1,500 adults over a seven-month period, comprising nearly 47 million web visits and 14 million app sessions. When compared with participants’ self-reported stress levels from questionnaires, researchers found a strong link between internet use and increased stress, particularly among those who already experienced daily stress. Women consistently reported higher stress levels than men, while stress tended to decrease with age and wealth. Not all online activities were equal, though. The study found that extended time spent on social media, online shopping, and gaming platforms was associated with higher stress levels compared to activities like checking emails or reading the news.
There are always concerns over internet life, especially increasing social media engagement, and some countries, such as Australia, banned social media for anyone under 16. The researchers hope that by gathering more detailed information about people’s internet habits, they can eventually develop concrete recommendations and tools that support healthier, more regulated online engagement. Juhi Kulshrestha, assistant professor at the Department of Computer Science, cautions against oversimplified solutions. She believes that blanket bans on internet use may overlook the emotional support certain online spaces provide. And it’s really crucial to study these issues further so the chicken and egg problem can be solved.
The research team plans to explore how different types of news — political, entertainment, or sports coverage — affect stress, helping further clarify the internet’s complex role in mental health.
21.Why did Belal’s team conduct their research?
A.To compare job-related stress levels. B.To prove why internet use results in stress.
C.To create apps to help lower stress in adults. D.To study how stress interacts with internet use.
22.What is a feature of the research method?
A.Focusing on a specific age group. B.Collecting large-scale real data over time.
C.Conducting nationwide online interviews. D.Using lab experiments to measure stress levels.
23.What does Juhi warn against?
A.Painting everything with the same brush. B.Judging a book by its cover.
C.Sacrificing tomorrow for today. D.Counting your chickens before they hatch.

New research suggests that attention does not remain steady. Instead, it fluctuates (波动) in a rapid cycle, shifting focus about seven to ten times per second. This constant sampling of the environment may have helped humans survive. For our ancestors who had to continue to monitor the environment for attackers while searching for food, this was beneficial.
Ian Fiebelkorn, assistant professor of Neuroscience at the Del Monte Institute for Neuroscience at the University of Rochester, said,“In today’s world, with laptops open in front of us and a smartphone nearby, rhythmically occurring windows for beneficial attentional shifts might also work against us. That is, rhythmically occurring windows for attentional shifts are also associated with increased susceptibility to distracting information.”
To investigate the subtle shifts in attention, Zach Redding, the first author of the study, recorded brain activity using an electroencephalogram (EEG). In the experiment, 40participants focused on a dim gray square positioned at the center of a computer screen. At the same time, colored dots appeared as distractions.
The EEG data revealed repeating patterns in brain activity that predicted when attention was more likely to move toward a distractor. These cycles occurred roughly seven to ten times per second. They also lined up with alternating (交替的) periods in which participants were better or worse at noticing the central target. When noticing performance dropped, participants were more easily distracted.
The findings may help researchers better understand attention-related conditions such asADHD (注意缺陷障碍). Although the study did not directly examine people with ADHD, it offers clues about how differences in these brain rhythms could influence focus and distractibility.
“Our research shows that the typical brain rhythmically alternates between states that promote either increased processing at the present focus of attention or an increased likelihood of shifting attentional resources elsewhere,” said Fiebelkorn.“It could be that the brains of people with ADHD do not alternate between these states as often, resulting in a loss of cognitive flexibility.”
24.How did attention fluctuations benefit ancient humans?
A.They helped them discover food easily. B.They enabled them to watch for dangers.
C.They made them focus on things better. D.They adapted them to the environment.
25.What does the underlined word “susceptibility” in paragraph 2 mean?
A.Defenselessness. B.Resistance. C.Dedication. D.Adaptation.
26.What did the EEG results show?
A.Participants ignored the central target. B.Distracting dots had no influence at all.
C.Brain waves remained unchanged steadily. D.Distraction followed brain rhythm changes.
27.What is Fiebelkorn’s explanation about people with ADHD?
A.They have stronger cognitive flexibility. B.They focus better than ordinary people.
C.Their brain states switch less regularly . D.Their brain rhythms work much faster.
C
A watched pot never boils, but time has wings when you’re having fun. The familiar saying has a basis in solid science — our sense of time does expand and contract depending on the way we experience the world. Even delicate visual features can affect how we perceive (感知) time. New research shows more memorable images seem to last longer.
Martin Wiener, head of the research, says the finding reveals how the brain’s time-bending strategy allows it to process and remember more information. While what is actually happening in the brain when time seems to expand remains unclear, scientists suspect it may have something to do with helping the brain process more information in limited time.
This is especially relevant to the brain’s visual system which, exposed to information overload, has to rank in order of importance, allowing for limited resources. Recent research has shown some images are more naturally memorable than others.
To understand how this memorability of an image might relate to our subjective sense of time, Wiener and his colleagues conducted related experiments. The researchers found larger scene sizes seemed to extend time while more disorderly scenes seemed to reduce the perceived duration. Besides, the subjects perceived that more memorable images remained on the screen longer, even if they were all presented for the same amount of time. To find the underlying factor, the team fed the same memorability-ranked images to a neural (神经的) network modeled after the brain’s visual system and found more memorable images were processed faster.
Why does faster brain processing make time feel slower? The answer is simple: When our brain processes things faster, it takes in more information at the same time. Our brain can only handle so much information at once, like a narrow pipe. When it needs to absorb more information, it “widens” this pipe. As a result, time feels like it’s stretching out and moving more slowly.
28.What does the familiar saying “A watched pot never boils” illustrate?
A.Actively waiting makes time feel slower. B.Visual features are the key to judging time.
C.Our activities do not change time perception. D.Time perception relies mainly on emotional state.
29.How does the brain’s visual system handle information?
A.By comparing similar scenes. B.By sorting randomly.
C.By screening out complex images. D.By setting priorities.
30.According to the text, which of the images would seem to last longer?
A. B. C. D.
31.What is the best title for the text?
A.How Visual Features Affect Our Sense of Time B.New Ways to Improve the Memorability of Images
C.Why Time Slows Down for More Memorable Visuals
D.The Brain’s Secrets to Processing Complex Information

Scientists have taken to the salon (美发厅) after realising hairdressers may be an “under-recognised” force in fueling climate action. Alongside their craft, hairdressers are known for their conversation skills, who often act as an agony aunt, adviser and friend rolled into one. New research from the University of Bath’s Centre for Climate Change and Social Transformation (CAST) reveals this is what makes hair salons centers of trust that could be used to encourage conversations around climate change.
The research team interviewed 30 UK salon owners about sustainability, and then ran a nationwide intervention in 25 sustainable salons using Mirror Talkers, where eco-tips are placed on salon mirrors to engender discussions on sustainable haircare practices.
“The carbon footprint of shampoo (洗发水) is mostly in the hot water used,” says Denise Baden of the University of Southampton. “Simple messages like ‘most of us use too much shampoo and shampoo too often’ can spark conversations about how shampooing less and at lower temperatures saves time, money, energy, water and is better for your skin and hair.”
The study found nearly 73% of salon clients were likely to change their haircare routines after conversations sparked by the Mirror Talkers, some even switching to eco-friendly products, using cooler water, and adopting greener habits at home.
Researchers say this demonstrates how hairdressers have an “untapped ability” to weave climate change into everyday conversations and actions. They are now urging policymakers to roll out tools like Mirror Talkers nationally. “If we’re serious about building a public movement for climate action, then it’s time to invest in these unsung influencers because real change starts in everyday conversations,” says Dr Sam Hampton of CAST.
Matilda Collins, a senior director and stylist, says the Mirror Talkers initiative could gain positive outcomes if the experience “feels natural and engages clients without being overly virtuous”. She adds, “Ultimately, the trust a stylist builds with the client is what will drive potential positive changes in behaviour. It could be a great education platform and a conversation starter, however.”
32.What does the underlined word “engender” in paragraph 2 mean?
A.Stimulate. B.Maintain. C.Simplify. D.Control.
33.What is the focus of the third paragraph?
A.The importance of saving water. B.The harm of overusing shampoo.
C.The function of eco-tips in salons. D.The strategy of starting conversations.
34.What can we infer from Dr Sam Hampton’s words?
A.Sound policies encourage investment. B.Daily conversations can make a difference.
C.Unsung influencers need professional training. D.Mirror Talkers has gained nationwide popularity.
35.Which of the following can be a suitable title for the text?
A.Salons: Overlooked Centers to Build Trust B.Haircare: A Hidden Source of Carbon Footprint
C.Mirror Talkers: A Platform to Show Fashion Trends
D.Hairdressers: Secret Weapons Against Climate Change

How to Cultivate a Growth Mindset for Academic Success
A growth mindset is the belief that abilities and intelligence can be developed through effort, learning, and persistence. For high school students, this mindset is a key driver of academic success, especially during the stressful senior year. It helps them view challenges as opportunities to grow, rather than as signs of inability. 36 . Here are some practical ways to develop this essential quality.
Embrace challenges instead of avoiding them. When faced with a difficult exam, a complex essay, or a confusing subject, many students choose to give up or delay. A growth mindset encourages you to see these moments as chances to expand your abilities. 37 . Each small win builds confidence and strengthens the belief that effort leads to improvement.
38 . Many students regard criticism as a personal attack, but it is actually a valuable source of growth. Whether it is a teacher’s comment on your essay or a classmate’s suggestion, take feedback seriously. Identify your weaknesses and make a practical plan to improve.
Celebrate effort rather than only focusing on results. Students often feel proud only when they get perfect grades, which easily causes disappointment. A growth mindset honors the hard work you put in, regardless of the final score. 39 .
Surround yourself with like-minded peers. The people you stay with shape your attitudes greatly. If your classmates welcome challenges and keep learning, their positive energy will influence you. 40 . Finally, practice positive self-talk. The way you talk to yourself affects your mindset significantly. It shapes how you react to difficulties and failures in your study. When facing a setback, replace negative thoughts with growth-oriented ones. It can keep you hopeful and focused on long-term progress.
In conclusion, a growth mindset is built through daily practice. It helps students unlock their potential and achieve lasting academic success.
A.Shy away from others’ attack
B.Learn to accept criticism and make good use of feedback
C.It is quite necessary to follow all your teachers’ advice strictly
D.This healthy attitude will keep you motivated during difficult periods
E.Cultivating a growth mindset requires consistent and conscious effort
F.For example, work on weak areas patiently and turn to teachers for help
G.Choose supportive study groups and avoid those who complain or give up easily

Applause faded and the crowd watching our band practice drifted away. I hummed random melodies as the lead singer, a smile spreading across my face.
Across the hall, Mike, our bassist (贝斯手), stood beside Devlin, talking excitedly and gesturing wildly. Rob, our only drummer and the backbone of the band, was away on the school trip until Wednesday. With no temporary drummer available, Mike had invited his cousin Devlin, a skilled saxophonist, to fill the vacant melodic line parts and enrich our stage effect while Rob was absent. I could not catch every word, but I could guess his intention. At that moment, I buried myself in music and let go of extra worries.
When Mike came over, he put it straight: “Devlin is incredibly talented. With him on board, the whole school will know we are rock stars after Friday’s show. Just imagine it.” There was a begging look in his eyes.
My smile froze. “You want to go without Rob?” Rob was far more than our drummer. He had founded Superflash, written most of our songs, and held all of us together. Most importantly, he was my best friend. He always said the band was like a family.
“I can’t agree, Mike,” I said firmly. “Rob loves this band deeply. It’s unfair to leave him out. We shouldn’t play without our official drummer.” Mike frowned. “That’s how music works. We need the best players to guarantee a flawless show,” he argued. “When Rob comes back, we’ll explain everything and he’ll understand.” I knew he meant no harm to Rob; he only wanted Friday’s performance to be perfect.
I took a deep breath. I also longed for a wonderful show, but I could never betray my best friend. I turned to Devlin, wondering what he would say. He kept silent for a second, then picked up his saxophone. Soon, sweet melodious music filled the hall. Mike whistled softly and murmured, “Things have just changed.” It was settled that Devlin would join us as a guest saxophonist to polish melodic sections for the Friday show. Still, I felt uncertain about what would happen once Rob returned.

M: Yeah! I’ve brought my medical check-up records and sports certificates.
W: Awesome! Welcome to the club! All new members get free training sessions.
M: Do you provide clothes and shoes?
W: We only provide shoes. Bring your own black shorts and a red top. If you don’t have them, you can buy some at the campus store. Club members get 30% off. Plus, you can enjoy special meal rates at the school canteen.
M: Cool. How about practice times?

M: Yeah. But I have many things to handle before I leave for England. Perhaps you can help me with it.
W: Well, what kind of stuff are they, and do you prefer to sell them or just give them away?
M: It depends. Umm, basically, everything I have: the printer, the fridge, and other cooking stuff that I bought from the former renter. But the newcomers have already bought what they need from a store. I’m not sure how to sell them. Oh, I’ve also got some books.
W: Why don’t you just take those with you?
M: The books weigh a lot, so they will be over the airline’s baggage allowance.
W: I understand. Well, you can put up notices around our campus about the books, in any places where second and third-year students will see them. People always want to buy cheap textbooks.
M: Good idea.

W: It’s going to be quite a big celebration about 100 people. My husband insists that my 40th birthday should be remembered forever.
M: In that case, the place we celebrated at won’t work for you. It won’t fit that many guests. It’s an old Italian restaurant on French street. It offers fair prices, but the largest dining hall can only hold 30 people.
W: I see. You’re right.
M: I have an idea. My old classmate and good friend, Bill, works in the entertainment business. He always plans some parties for customers. I’m sure he can help. Here is his business card. Tell him that you are my assistant.
W: Thanks a lot. I really hope he can arrange some Greek food.

【原文】W: Hello everyone! Welcome to Global Flavors. Today, we’re talking about coffee. It likely began in Africa and was grown in Yemen by the 6th century. Traders brought it to Europe, but people were unsure of it at first, and it gradually won acceptance. Coffee quickly spread across the continent after that. By the 1600s, coffeehouses opened in London, Paris, and Vienna. After the 1773 Boston Tea Party,Americans switched to coffee.
Coffee only grows in hot areas near the equator. The red cherries are processed in two ways. In the dry method, they’re dried whole in the sun. In the wet method, workers first remove the soft part around the beans, then leave them in water before washing and drying them. This results in better quality coffee Roasting usually happens in importing countries to bring out flavor.
Most coffee comes from two types of coffee plant. Arabica grows high up and tastes rich. Robusta grows lower, has more of the stimulating substance, and is used in cheaper coffee and instant coffee. The best instant coffee is freeze-dried and cheaper ones are spray-dried.

AI Application in Students’ Daily Life
As is shown in the chart, AI is widely used in students’ daily life. Among the four main purposes, homework assistance ranks first, accounting for 65%. Following that, 50% of students use AI for entertainment. In contrast, 24% apply it to searching information and only 12% to coming up with ideas.
In my opinion, AI greatly improves learning efficiency. However, students should avoid over-reliance on it. I suggest using AI as a tool for guidance rather than simply copying answers, while also exploring its potential in creative areas.

67. Rob returned on Wednesday to rehearse, spotted Devlin, and walked over. Slightly confused, he politely asked Devlin who he was and why he was here. Devlin smiled and briefly introduced himself as a guest saxophonist for the practice. As I stood there, tongue-tied with guilt, Mike stepped forward and earnestly explained the whole arrangement, emphasizing we only wanted a better show without replacing anyone. Rob fell into silence for a moment, then suggested we practice together to see how it went. As the beautiful melody of the saxophone blended concertedly with our music, his face lit up, readily agreeing to let Devlin be our guest saxophonist.
Friday night arrived, and the four of us were ready to play. Backstage, we all felt a surge of nervousness, worrying that the limited rehearsal might mess up the show. However, as we started playing, all our concerns faded away. We cooperated seamlessly, with Devlin’s saxophone adding a unique touch to our performance, which instantly captivated the whole audience. The hall was filled with thunderous applause throughout the show. When the curtain fell, we looked at each other and smiled, deeply understanding that the true spirit of a band was not a perfect show, but mutual trust, teamwork and the warm family bond that bound us together.

In our fast-paced,stressful lives,we're often tuming to social media, online shopping,or gaming to escape
daily pressures. However, the experience can often be the opposite, leaving us more exhausted. This begs the
question:do we scroll because we're stressed,or are we stressed because we scroll?
To better understand the subtle (relationship of stress and internet use, particularly how specific
online behaviors influence stress levels,Belal's team, from Finland's Aalto University, conducted one of the first
studies. They recorded real-world internet usage through tracking software installed on participants'devices.
Combined with a large sample size and a lengthy observation period, the findings offer especially valuable insight
into how online habits tie in with stress.
The study, published in the Journal of Medical Internet Research, collected internet usage data from around
1,500 adults over a seven-month period, comprising nearly 47 million web visits and 14 million app sessions.
When compared with participants'self-reported stress levels from questionnaires, researchers found a strong link
between internet use and increased stress, particularly among those who already experienced daily stress.Women
consistently reported higher stress levels than men, while stress tended to decrease with age and wealth. Not all
online activities were equal, though. The study found that extended time spent on social media, online shopping,
and gaming platforms was associated with higher stress levels compared to activities like checking emails or
reading the news.
There are always concerns over internet life, especially increasing social media engagement, and some
countries, such as Australia, banned social media for any one under 16.The researchers hope that by gathering more
detailed information about people's internet habits, they can eventually develop concrete recommendations and
tools that support healthier, more regulated online engagement.Juhi Kulshrestha, assistant professor at the
Department of Computer Science, cautions against oversimplified solutions. She believes that blanket bans on
internet use may overlook the emotional support certain online spaces provide. And it's really crucial to study these
issues further so the chicken and egg problem can be solved.
The research team plans to explore how different types of news-political,entertainment,or sports
coverage-affect stress, helping further clarify the internet's complex role in mental health
21.Why did Belal's team conduct their research?

A.To compare job-related stress levels.B.To prove why internet use results in stress.
C.To create apps to help lower stress in adults.D.To study how stress interacts with internet use.

A.Focusing on a specific age group.
B.Collecting large-scale real data over time.
C.Conducting nationwide online interviews.D.Using lab experiments to measure stress levels.
23.What does Juhi warn against?
A.Painting everything with the same brush.B.Judging a book by its cover.
C.Sacrificing tomorrow for today.

New research suggests that attention does not remain steady.Instead,it fluctuates (in a rapid cycle,
shifting focus about seven to ten times per second. This constant sampling of the environment may have helped
humans survive. For our ancestors who had to continue to monitor the environment for attackers while searching
for food,this was beneficial.
Ian Fiebelkorn, assistant professor of Neuroscience at the Del Monte Institute for Neuroscience at the
University of Rochester, said,"In today's world, with laptops open in front of us and a smartphone nearby,
rhythmically occurring windows for beneficial attentional shifts might also work against us.That is,rhythmically
occurring windows for attentional shifts are also associated with increased susceptibility to distracting
information.”
To investigate the subtle shifts in attention,Zach Redding, the first author of the study, recorded brain activity
using an electroencephalogram(EEG).In the experiment,40participants focused on a dim gray square positioned at
the center of a computer screen. At the same time, colored dots appeared as distractions
The EEG data revealed repeating patterns in brain activity that predicted when attention was more likely to
move toward a distractor. These cycles occurred roughly seven to ten times per second. They also lined up with
alternating periods in which participants were better or worse at noticing the central target. When noticing
performance dropped, participants were more easily distracted.
The findings may help researchers better understand attention-related conditions such asADHD
)Although the study did not directly examine people with ADHD,it offers clues about how differences in
these brain rhythms could influence focus and distractibility.
"Our research shows that the typical brain rhythmically alternates between states that promote either
increased processing at the present focus of attention or an increased likelihood of shifting attentional resources

elsewhere,"said Fiebelkorn."It could be that the brains of people with ADHD do not altemate between these states
as often, resulting in a loss of cognitive flexibility."
24.How did attention fluctuations benefit ancient humans?
A.They helped them discover food easily.B.They enabled them to watch for dangers.
C.They made them focus on things better.D.They adapted them to the environment.
25.What does the underlined word"susceptibility"in paragraph 2 mean?
A.Defenselessness.
B.Resistance.
C.Dedication.D.Adaptation.
26.What did the EEG results show?
A.Participants ignored the central target.
B.Distracting dots had no influence at all.
C.Brain waves remained unchanged steadily.D.Distraction followed brain rhythm changes.
27.What is Fiebelkorn's explanation about people with ADHD?
A.They have stronger cognitive flexibility.B.They focus better than ordinary people.
C.Their brain states switch less regularly.D.Their brain rhythms work much faster.

A watched pot never boils, but time has wings when you're having fun.The familiar saying has a basis in
solid science-our sense of time does expand and contract depending on the way we experience the world.Even
delicate visual features can affect how we perceive (time.New research shows more memorable images
seem to last longer.
Martin Wiener, head of the research, says the finding reveals how the brain's time-bending strategy allows it
to process and remember more information. While what is actually happening in the brain when time seems to
expand remains unclear, scientists suspect it may have something to do with helping the brain process more
information in limited time.
This is especially relevant to the brain's visual system which, exposed to information overload, has to rank in
order of importance, allowing for limited resources.Recent research has shown some images are more naturally
memorable than others
To understand how this memorability of an image might relate to our subjective sense of time,Wiener and
his colleagues conducted related experiments. The researchers found larger scene sizes seemed to extend time while
more disorderly scenes seemed to reduce the perceived duration.Besides, the subjects perceived that more
memorable images remained on the screen longer, even if they were all presented for the same amount of time.To
find the underlying factor, the team fed the same memorability-ranked images to a neural network

modeled after the brain's visual system and found more memorable images were processed faster.
Why does faster brain processing make time feel slower? The answer is simple:When our brain processes
things faster,it takes in more information at the same time. Our brain can only handle so much information at once,
like a narrow pipe.When it needs to absorb more information,it"widens"this pipe.As a result,time feels like it's
stretching out and moving more slowly.
28.What does the familiar saying"A watched pot never boils"illustrate?
A.Actively waiting makes time feel slower.B.Visual features are the key to judging time.
C.Our activities do not change time perception.D.Time perception relies mainly on emotional state.
29.How does the brain's visual system handle information?
A.By comparing similar scenes.
B.By sorting randomly.
C.By screening out complex images.
D.By setting priorities.

Scientists have taken to the salon (after realising hairdressers may be an "under-recognised force in

an agony aunt, adviser and friend rolled into one.New research from the University of Bath's Centre for Climate
Change and Social Transformation(CAST)reveals this is what makes hair salons centers of trust that could be used
to encourage conversations around climate change
The research team interviewed 30 UK salon owners about sustainability, and then ran a nationwide
intervention in 25 sustainable salons using Mirror Talkers, where eco-tips are placed on salon mirrors to engender
discussions on sustainable haircare practices

University of Southampton."Simple messages like most of us use too much shampoo and shampoo too often'can
spark conversations about how shampooing less and at lower temperatures saves time, money, energy, water and is
better for your skin and hair."
The study found nearly 73%of salon clients were likely to change their haircare routines after conversations
sparked by the Mirror Talkers, some even switching to eco-friendly products, using cooler water, and adopting
greener habits at home
Researchers say this demonstrates how hairdressers have an "untapped ability"to weave climate change into
everyday conversations and actions. They are now urging policymakers to roll out tools like Mirror Talkers
nationally."If we're serious about building a public movement for climate action, then it's time to invest in these
unsung influencers because real change starts in everyday conversations,"says Dr Sam Hampton of CAST.
Matilda Collins,a senior director and stylist, says the Mirror Talkers initiative could gain positive outcomes
if the experience"feels natural and engages clients without being overly virtuous".She adds,"Ultimately, the trust
a stylist builds with the client is what will drive potential positive changes in behaviour. It could be a great
education platform and a conversation starter, however."
32.What does the underlined word"engender"in paragraph 2 mean?
A.Stimulate.B.Maintain.
C.Simplify.
D.Control.
33.What is the focus of the third paragraph?
A.The importance of saving water.
B.The harm of overusing shampoo.
C.The function of eco-tips in salons.D.The strategy of starting conversations.
34.What can we infer from Dr Sam Hampton's words?
A.Sound policies encourage investment.
B.Daily conversations can make a difference.
C.Unsung influencers need professional training.D.Mirror Talkers has gained nationwide popularity.

persistence. For high school students, this mindset is a key driver of academic success, especially during the
stressful senior year.It helps them view challenges as opportunities to grow, rather than as signs of inability
36 Here are some practical ways to develop this essential quality.
Embrace challenges instead of avoiding them. When faced with a difficult exam,a complex essay,or a
confusing subject, many students choose to give up or delay.A growth mindset encourages you to see these
moments as chances to expand your abilities.37.Each small win builds confidence and strengthens the
belief that effort leads to improvement.
38 Many students regard criticism as a personal attack, but it is actually a valuable source of
growth.Whether it is a teacher's comment on your essay or a classmate's suggestion, take feedback seriously.
Identify your weaknesses and make a practical plan to improve.
Celebrate effort rather than only focusing on results.Students often feel proud only when they get perfect
grades, which easily causes disappointment A growth mindset honors the hard work you put in,regardless of the
final score.39.
Surround yourself with like-minded peers. The people you stay with shape your attitudes greatly. If your
classmates welcome challenges and keep learning, their positive energy will influence you.40.Finally,
practice positive self-talk.The way you talk to yourself affects your mindset significantly. It shapes how you react
to difficulties and failures in your study. When facing a setback, replace negative thoughts with growth-oriented
ones.It can keep you hopeful and focused on long-term progress.
In conclusion,a growth mindset is built through daily practice. It helps students unlock their potential and
achieve lasting academic success.
A.Shy away from others'attack
B.Learn to accept criticism and make good use of feedback
C.It is quite necessary to follow all your teachers'advice strictly
D.This healthy attitude will keep you motivated during difficult periods
E.Cultivating a growth mindset requires consistent and conscious effort
F.For example, work on weak areas patiently and turn to teachers for help

Across the hall,Mike, our bassist )stood beside Devlin, talking excitedly and gesturing wildly.Rob,
our only drummer and the backbone of the band, was away on the school trip until Wednesday. With no temporary
drummer available,Mike had invited his cousin Devlin,a skilled saxophonist,to fill the vacant melodic line parts
and enrich our stage effect while Rob was absent.I could not catch every word, but I could guess his intention. At
that moment,I buried myself in music and let go of extra worries.
When Mike came over,he put it straight:"Devlin is incredibly talented. With him on board, the whole
school will know we are rock stars after Friday's show.Just imagine it."There was a begging look in his eyes.
My smile froze."You want to go without Rob?'Rob was far more than our drummer. He had founded
Superflash, written most of our songs, and held all of us together. Most importantly,he was my best friend. He
always said the band was like a family.
"I can't agree,Mike,"I said firmly."Rob loves this band deeply.It's unfair to leave him out.We shouldn't
play without our official drummer."Mike frowned."That's how music works. We need the best players to
guarantee a flawless show,"he argued."When Rob comes back,we'll explain everything and he'll understand."I
knew he meant no harm to Rob;he only wanted Friday's performance to be perfect.
I took a deep breath.I also longed for a wonderful show, but I could never betray my best friend.I turned to
Devlin, wondering what he would say.He kept silent for a second, then picked up his saxophone.Soon, sweet

AI Application in Students'Daily Life
As is shown in the chart,AI is widely used in students'daily life.Among the four main purposes, homework
assistance ranks first, accounting for 65%.Following that,50%of students use AI for entertainment. In contrast,
24%apply it to searching information and only 12%to coming up with ideas.
In my opinion,AI greatly improves learning efficiency. However, students should avoid over-reliance on it.I
suggest using AI as a tool for guidance rather than simply copying answers, while also exploring its potential in
creative areas.

Rob returned on Wednesday to rehearse, spotted Devlin, and walked over.Slightly confused,he politely
asked Devlin who he was and why he was here.Devlin smiled and briefly introduced himself as a guest
saxophonist for the practice. As I stood there,tongue-tied with guilt,Mike stepped forward and earnestly explained
the whole arrangement, emphasizing we only wanted a better show without replacing any one.Rob fell into silence
for a moment, then suggested we practice together to see how it went.As the beautiful melody of the saxophone
blended concertedly with our music, his face lit up,readily agreeing to let Devlin be our guest saxophonist.
Friday night arrived, and the four of us were ready to play.Backstage,we all felt a surge of nervousness,
worrying that the limited rehearsal might mess up the show. However,as we started playing, all our concerns faded
away.We cooperated seamlessly,with Devlin's saxophone adding a unique touch to our performance,which
instantly captivated the whole audience. The hall was filled with thunderous applause throughout the show. When
the curtain fell,we looked at each other and smiled, deeply understanding that the true spirit of a band was not a
perfect show, but mutual trust, teamwork and the warm family bond that bound us together.
