Jack avoided me the rest of the week. He always pretended not to see me and then turned his way when we met, which was really different from his former behaviors. "Did he understand my words that day?" I couldn’t help thinking in my mind. But under my observations the next few days, I found my words worked. Jack’s bad temper had softened a lot, which puzzled my colleagues deeply. Everyone was glad at his changes. Some coworkers tended to ask me whether I know the reasons. I just smiled and said nothing. Although Jack avoided me, I still did what I had promised .
Every time I saw Jack in the hall, I smiled at him. After I continued this for several days, Jack's attitude towards me began to change gradually. It was not until that morning that he finally spoke to me. I smiled at him as usual. And then he said to me, “Good morning!” “Good morning!” I responded in a shocked mood. “Thank you for your reminder.” Jack began to say with a sincere smile, “And thank you for your tolerance.” We shocked hands and I said softly, “Not at all. After all, that's what friends do.”

us to thank you.

The Nobel Prizes are awards that are given each year for special things that people or groups of people have achieved. They are awarded in six areas: physics, chemistry, medicine, literature, peace and economics. The prizes come from a fund that was created by the Swedish inventor Alfred Nobel. He wanted to use some of his money to help make the world a better place to live. Many organizations, chosen by Alfred Nobel himself, determine who receives the prizes. Each award consists of a gold medal, a diploma and a lot of money. Prizes can only be given to individuals of all races, countries and religions.
Only the Peace Prize can also be given to a group.(19) The first Nobel Prizes were handed out on December l0, 1901—five years after Alfred Nobel’s death.(20) Nobel was a chemist, engineer and inventor whose most famous invention, dynamite, made him a rich man.(18) Although he gave the world such a deadly weapon, Nobel was always against wars and violence. He therefore left a lot of money that was to go to those who did a lot for mankind.
Officials at first handed out only five prizes a year. (17)The prize for economics was first awarded in 1969. In some years prizes have not been awarded because there were no worthy candidates. All prizes are presented in Stockholm, Sweden, only the Peace Prize is awarded in Oslo, Norway.

The world’s animal populations have decreased by more than two-thirds since 1970, according to a recent research from the World Wildlife Fund (WWF).
The London group provided information on 32,000 wildlife populations which included more than 5,000 species. The researchers found that population sizes had declined by 69 percent on average. They said the loss of forests, human exploitation of the environment, pollution, and climate change were great causes of the loss. Land-use change is still the biggest threat to wildlife. However, the researchers added, “if we cannot limit warming to 1.5°C, climate change is likely to become the dominant cause of biodiversity loss in the coming years.”
Wildlife populations in Latin American and the Caribbean Sea area were greatly affected. The research showed a 94 percent drop in those areas in over 50 years. Wildlife populations in river and lake habitats decreased the most. Freshwater populations have declined by an average of 83 percent since 1970. For example, one population of pink river dolphins in the Amazon River area of Brazil fell by 65 percent between 1994 and 2016.
These findings are a red flag that warns of a larger system failure on the horizon. Even one species’ population decline can affect other species, eventually impacting the ecosystem’s ability to function. Humans depend on a stable climate, predictable weather patterns, and productive farmland and fisheries to thrive, but the current trends are severe enough to threaten many life-sustaining systems.
Our future depends on reversing the loss of nature just as much as it depends on addressing climate change. And you can’t solve one without solving the other. Everyone has a role in reversing these trends, from individuals to companies to governments. If nothing changes, animal populations will undoubtedly continue to fall, driving wildlife to extinction and threatening the integrity of the ecosystems on which we all depend.
24.What is the greatest threat to wildlife populations currently?
A. Illegal hunting.
B. Global warming.
C. Land-use change.
D. Environmental pollution.
25. How does the author explain the decline of freshwater wildlife in paragraph 3?
A. By listing figures.
B. By analyzing the causes.
C. By making a comparison.
D. By referring to a concept.
26. What can we learn from paragraph 4?
A. Climate change threatens many wild animals.
B. Farmland is the basis of life-sustaining systems.
C. Species diversity is important to maintain a stable ecosystem.
D. Extreme weather events have become more frequent.
27. What is the main purpose of the text?
A. To explain the difficulty of restoring ecosystems.
B. To call on people to take action to protect nature.
C. To present the increasing trend of climate change.
D. To show people’s efforts in reversing the loss of nature.
C

In a study involving thousands of participants, a new blood test detected more than 50 types of cancer as well as their location within the body with a high degree of accuracy, according to an international team of researchers led by Dana-Farber Cancer Institute and the Mayo Clinic.
The results, published online today by the Annals of Oncology, indicate that the test -- which identified some particularly dangerous cancers that lack standard approaches to screening(筛查) -- can play a key role in early detection of cancer. Early detection can often be critical to successful treatment.
"Our previous work indicated that methylation-based(基于甲化基作用) tests are better than traditional DNA-sequencing approaches to detecting multiple forms of cancer in blood samples," said Dana-Farber's Geoffrey Oxnard, MD, co-lead author of the study with Minetta Liu, MD, of the Mayo Clinic. "The results of this study suggest that such tests could be a workable way of screening people for a wide variety of cancers."
In the study, investigators used the test to analyze cell-free DNA (DNA from normal and cancerous cells that had entered the bloodstream upon the cells' death) in 6,689 blood samples, including 2,482 from people diagnosed with cancer and 4,207 from people without cancer. The samples from patients with cancer represented more than 50 cancer types, including breast, colorectal, esophageal, gallbladder, bladder, gastric, ovarian, head and neck, lung, lymphoid leukemia, multiple myeloma, and pancreatic cancer."
Our results show that this approach to testing cell-free DNA in blood can detect a broad range of cancer types at virtually any stage of the disease, with specificity and sensitivity approaching the level needed for population-level screening," Oxnard observed. "The test can be an important part of clinical trials for early cancer detection."
28. What can the new blood test be applied to ?
A.To provide a health care for the elderly.
B.To identify many types of cancer in later stage.
C.To find out cancer and its location earlier and more precisely .
D.To totally replace the traditional sequencing approaches.
29.What does the underlined word”diagnosed” probably mean in paragraph 4?
A.operated B. treated C. suffered D. checked
30. What does the author intend to do in the passage?
A.Explain a new medical term
B.Give a direction of a new test
C.Provide some advice for the readers
D.Introduce a new technical breakthrough
31.Where does the passage possibly come from?
A journal B. An encyclopedia C. A brochure D. A fiction

Going against the tide of flocking to well-known tourist destinations on vacation, a growing number of holidaymakers in China tend to spend their leisure time at lesser-known resorts(旅游胜地). Reverse tourism has emerged as a new trend among young holidaymakers in China.
According to data from an online travel agency, the number of rooms booked at hotels in less-traveled cities during the holiday was up 30 percent year-on-year. Bookings for four-star or five-star hotels in less-traveled places all increased at least 10-fold(十倍). Some lesser-known scenic spots posted double-digit growth during the holiday. Baimaiquan Park in Jinan, the capital of Shandong Province, received 52,100 visits in the seven days, up 15.78 percent year-over-year.
Besides crowds, some vacationers chose less-traveled places to save on the cost of trips to popular destinations. In addition, lesser-known attractions are not as “commercial” as developed ones and are able to offer more actual experiences and natural encounters. Essentially speaking, total relaxation is becoming a real expectation for many people when they travel. Changes in demand may be the fundamental reason for the popularity of reverse tourism. COVID-19 is another key factor fueling reverse tourism. As precautionary measures continue, traveling has an unpredictable quality. Travelers have thus become more cautious and tend to choose local attractions or places with fewer tourists.
“The rise of reverse tourism is not a bad thing,” said Zhengzhou Daily. It means that vacationers now have more options, which brings more possibilities to the tourism market. More importantly, it noted, the trend is set to force popular destinations to improve themselves instead of resting on their past honor.
Jiang Han, a senior researcher, said that reverse tourism will become one of the future directions for the market. To give a real boost to the tourism market, Jiang suggested that more efforts be made to tap the potential of underrated, lesser-known destinations. It is necessary to dig deeper into the local customs and highlight the local characteristics to improve the quality of local tourism.
32. What are the statistics in paragraph 2 mainly about?
A. The popularity of travel agency in China.
B. The contributions of tourism to the economy.
C. The high income of hotels during holidays.
D. The increasing trend of reverse tourism in China.
33. What may be the root cause of the rise of reverse tourism?
A. The impact of COVID-19.
B. Holidaymakers’ changing needs for travel.
C. The lower cost of heading to less-traveled places.
D. The lack of innovative improvements in famous attractions.
34. What does Zhengzhou Daily think of reverse tourism?
A. It will drop with the recovery of economy.
B. It benefits both tourists and the tourism market.
C. It is helpful to spread local culture to tourists.
D. It blocks the development of some popular resorts.
35. What can be a suitable title for the text?
A. The Causes of Reverse Tourism
B. The Advantages of Reverse Tourism
C. The Rise of Reverse Tourism
D. The Disadvantages of Reverse Tourism

That's what friends do
Jack tossed the papers on my desk—his eyebrows knit into a straight line as he glared at me.
"What’s wrong?" I asked.
He pointed at the proposal. "Next time you want to change anything, ask me first," he said, turning on his heels and leaving me stewing in anger.
How dare he treat me like that, I thought. I had changed one long sentence, and corrected grammar, something I thought I was paid to do.
It’s not that I hadn’t been warned. Other women who had worked my job before me called Jack names I couldn’t repeat. One coworker took me aside the first day. "He’s personally responsible for two different secretaries leaving the firm," she whispered.
As the weeks went by, I grew to despise(鄙视) Jack. His actions made me question much that I believed in, such as turning the other cheek and loving your enemies. Jack quickly slapped a verbal insult on any cheek turned his way. I prayed about the situation, but to be honest, I wanted to put Jack in his place, not love him.
One day another of his incident left me in tears. I stormed into his office, prepared to lose my job if needed, but not before I let the man know how I felt. I opened the door and Jack glanced up. “What?” he asked abruptly.
Suddenly I knew what I had to do. After all, he deserved it.
I sat across from him and said calmly, “Jack, the way you’ve been treating me is wrong. I’ve never had anyone speak to me that way. As a professional, it’s wrong, and I can’t allow it to continue.”
Jack smiled nervously and leaned back in his chair. I closed my eyes briefly. God help me, I prayed.
“I want to make you a promise. I will be a friend,” I said. “I will treat you as you deserve to be treated, with respect and kindness. You deserve that. Everybody does.” I slipped out of the chair and closed the door behind me.
注意:
1. 续写词数应为150左右;
2. 请按如下格式在答题卡的相应位置作答。
Paragraph 1:
Jack avoided me the rest of the week. __________________________________
Paragraph 2:
Every time I saw Jack in the hall, I smiled at him. __

【试题】
【考查目标】

【试题】

前面提出这个问题:can you exercise during recovery?后面说 Let’s listen to the experts’ advice,以及结合下面的文章是几个专家提出的一些建议,所以选E

读后续写(满分 25 分)
【试题】

【作答示例】
