Four Must-Watch Shows for Learning English
Friends
Friends is a popular American show that has already taught many people how to speak English. Fans of learning English with this show include baseball player Luis Severino and soccer coach Jürgen Klopp. Based around the long-term friendships and lives of six New Yorkers, Friends has won several Emmys and Golden Globes. The show is light-hearted, and the conversations are easygoing.
The Big Bang Theory
This popular American comedy follows the story of four socially awkward scientists from California and their neighbor. A lot of the series — especially in the early seasons — are mainly about physics, and the jokes are often science-related, so be prepared to learn some advanced words as well. Since the show has many characters from different cultural backgrounds, you can also hear different English accents (口音).
The Great British Bake Off
If you prefer British English, give this reality show a try. Unlike American cooking shows, which can often be quite stressful and very fast, this show’s combination of calming music, beautiful British accents, and people supporting each other is excellent for language learning. The English language used is simple and evenly paced, with phrases often heard in everyday British communication. Vocabulary mostly centers around baking, but there are also conversations about personal lives, enabling you to learn about British culture.
The Crown
The Crown is another British hit show that follows the life of Queen Elizabeth II. Although based on real events, it is also a historical drama. But that doesn’t take away from the fact that it’s still a fantastic way to learn more about Britain’s history. The accents are obviously British, which makes this show a great fit for anybody wanting to learn more about British English. It must be noted that the English language used in the show is formal and less commonplace in the UK today.

Working at an investment bank in New York City, Anna Sacks was living the life — just not the life she wanted. She wanted to do something that felt important and was fulfilling on a deeper level. So she moved to Connecticut for three months to participate in Adamah, a Jewish farming program that focuses on sustainable living and growing sustainable food.
“One of the things that really stuck with me from Adamah was how little waste they produced and how they handled the waste they did have,” she says.“And I just thought, ‘Why aren’t we doing that here?’ So I began what I called ‘trash walking’.”
During her trash walking around the neighborhood, Sacks picks through garbage to look for reusable items. Soon, her trash walks expanded to include corporate dumpsters (垃圾车) along with residential trash. Surprisingly, she discovered a lot of really great stuff — like clothing, designer accessories (配件), dinnerware, and food — all of which she documents on Instagram and TikTok.
Under the name The Trash Walker, Sacks quickly gained popularity for her educational, funny, and surprising videos that highlight the problems with consumerism and share information about how to live a more sustainable lifestyle.
Sacks’ videos have gone viral many times, causing shockwaves through the industries she calls out. Her most popular video showed brand-new luxury Coach handbags that had been destroyed by employees before being trashed — a way of “damaging out” unwanted inventory (库存). (And perhaps as a way to keep the luxury brand unique.) This still happened, despite the “sustainability commitment” on Coach’s website, which says the company encourages fixing damaged bags and is part of the “circular economy.”
The 56-second TikTok went live in October, and a week later, Coach announced changes to its policy, stating it would no longer destroy in-store returns.
74.Why did Anna Sacks join the Adamah program?
A.To pursue a more meaningful life.
B.To escape her investment bank job.
C.To learn the Jewish farming skills.
D.To live in Connecticut permanently.
75.What did Anna Sacks do during“trash walking”?
A.Sold designer accessories found in trash.
B.Picked up food from the industrial trash.
C.Cleaned garbage in corporate dumpsters.
D.Collected reusable items and share them online.
76.What did Anna’s video expose about Coach?
A.Its products were of poor quality.
B.Its action disagreed with its claims.
C.It encouraged repairing damaged bags.
D.It donated unwanted inventory to charity.
77.What is the main idea of the text?
A.The impact of social media on luxury brands.
B.Coach’s policy change on inventory handling.
C.A lady’s journey to promote sustainable living.
D.A Jewish farming program’s environmental influence.

Are you planning to take your pet on a long trip? On April 8, China Railway Express announced that pet owners can now bring their cats or dogs on the same train.

1.A
be determined to do sth.
句子后半部分提到“why he made so many mistakes”(为什么犯了这么多错)。
“the +比较级...,the +比较级...”
couldn’t help doing sth.
8.A

He doesn’t like it, either.
Won’t you come, too?
He went to Washington, but not to New York too.
He didn’t buy a computer, and she didn’t either.
He bought a computer, but she didn’t too.
It’s too good a chance to miss.
3. 与can’t, can never, impossible等连用,表示“越……
One can never be too careful.
It is impossible to get there too soon.
You can’t watch your accounts too carefully.

So she moved to Connecticut for three months to participate in Adamah, a Jewish farming program that focuses on sustainable living and growing sustainable food.( 她渴望做些真正有意义、内心感到充实的事情。
根据第三段“During her trash walking around the neighborhood, Sacks picks through garbage to look for reusable items. Soon, her trash walks expanded to include corporate dumpsters (垃圾车) along with residential trash. Surprisingly, she discovered a lot of really great stuff — like clothing, designer accessories (配件), dinnerware, and food — all of which she documents onInstagram and TikTok.( 在社区里穿梭于垃圾中时,萨克斯会仔细翻找可重复使用的物品。
根据第五段中“Her most popular video showed brand-new luxury Coach handbags that had been destroyed by employees before being trashed — a way of “damaging out” unwanted inventory (库存).(And perhaps as a way to keep the luxury brand unique.) This still happened, despite the “sustainability commitment” on Coach’s website, which says the company encourages fixing damaged bags and is part of the “circular economy.”(她最广为人知的一段视频展示了全新高档蔻驰手袋,这些全新的蔻驰手袋在被丢弃前就被员工销毁——这是“主动损毁”多余库存的一种方式(或许也是为了保持奢侈品牌的独特性)。
通读全文,结合第一段“She wanted to do something that felt important and was fulfilling on a deeper level. So she moved to Connecticut for three months to participate in Adamah, a Jewish farming program that focuses on sustainable living and growing sustainable food. (我开始了所谓的“垃圾行走”)”和第三段“Sacks picks through garbage to look for reusable items... all of which she documents on Instagram and TikTok. 故C项“A lady’s journey to promote sustainable living.

根据首字母w及后文举例“Wang Shanshan, 27, is one of them.”,可知宠物主人对这项服务持支持态度,主语“Many pet owners”为复数,句子时态为一般现在时,用动词“welcome”,表示欢迎。
根据首字母f及前文“Wang traveled by car with her cat”,可知火车服务会比开车更快,结合“much+形容词比较级”的用法,用fast的比较级faster。

71.Why are Luis Severino and Jürgen Klopp mentioned in the text?
A.They build long-term friendships.
B.They watch Friends to learn English.
C.They know well about British culture.
D.They are characters in a popular show.
