Natural disasters are sudden events caused by nature that can cause great damage to people and the environment. Some common natural disasters include earthquakes, floods, hurricanes, and wildfires.
Earthquakes happen when two pieces of the Earth’s crust suddenly move past each other. They can cause buildings to fall, roads to break, and people to get hurt. It’s important to know what to do during an earthquake: stay away from windows and heavy furniture, get under a strong table or desk, and cover your head.
Floods usually happen when there is too much rain or when rivers overflow. They can cover houses and roads with water, making it hard for people to move around. If a flood is coming, you should move to higher ground as quickly as possible.
Hurricanes are strong storms with heavy rain and strong winds. They can cause a lot of damage to houses and trees. Before a hurricane arrives, people should prepare emergency kits with food, water, and first-aid supplies.
Wildfires are large fires that burn in forests or grasslands. They can spread quickly because of strong winds. If you are near a wildfire, you should leave the area immediately and follow the instructions of firefighters.

①A lot of people take up dancing as a hobby after work. In fact, dancing has been seen as one of the best exercises to fight bad feelings in recent years.
②Why is dancing so helpful? Dancing, moving the body to different kinds of music, helps the body produce more endorphin (内啡肽), a chemical (化学物质) that makes people feel relaxed and happy.
③While simply listening to music or doing sports can cheer us up, mixing them together has a stronger effect. In a study, German scientists tested some patients under three conditions: dancing to music, only listening to music, and riding bikes without music. The results showed that the dancing group felt the least sad. This tells us that dancing is more than just moving around—it truly lifts our spirits.
④Dancing can also bring people closer. Social dances like tango and Latin need us to move with others, which improves our sense of social connection according to IBSA, a Swiss scientific organization. Through eye contact, people feel more trust and closeness.
⑤ ▲ Studies show that depression (抑郁症) often has to do with sadness about the past or worries about the future. Dancing helps people focus on the present, connect with their bodies, and free their minds for a while, as reported by Psych Central, a mental health news website. When we dance, we stop overthinking and start feeling. This makes it an excellent way to enjoy the present moment without even trying.
⑥Lauren Helper, an American social worker, says dancing is a helpful way to reduce stress. It can be any form—whether it’s moving alone around the house to a song or going out dancing with friends. “The most important thing is that the movement is fun. You don’t need to be a perfect dancer. Just turn on some music, move your body, and enjoy the moment. That’s the real magic of dance.” she told Psych Central.
( )36.What can help you the most when you are sad according to the study?
A. Attending a concert. B. Talking to a friend. C. Dancing to music.
( )37.Why do people take up dancing after work?
A. To kill time. B. To learn new skills. C. To fight against bad feelings.
( )38. Which sentence can be put in the “ ▲ ” in the fifth paragraph?
A. But dancing is not only good for our body.
B. Dancing also helps people let go of bad feelings.
C. But dancing is not the only way to feel better.

Have you ever heard of the word “kidult”? It means an adult who buys children’s toys to play with. Take Anna Jones for example. This 23-year-old woman travelled all the way from London to New York just to buy an unusual soft toy. Although she already had 35 of them, she wanted to collect more. She said, “ 51 ”
In the past, people would typically stop playing with toys once they grew up. But things are different now. 52 In fact, most soft toy buyers are between the ages of 18 and 24.
53 However, Professor Joshua Dale doesn’t think so. He says cute toys can make adults happy. Kidults love them because they want to feel less worried. “It’s hard to feel happy today with so much going on in the world.” Dale says, “If you look at cute toys, though, they might cheer you up. 54 ”
This doesn’t say that young people are childish, either. “There is a difference between ‘childish’ and ‘childlike’,” Dale explains. “ 55 But being childlike means having a feeling of interest and wonder, wanting to learn new things. These are good qualities. Bringing childlike things into your daily life as an adult can be good for you.”
A. Each one is special to me.
B. They are like friends that help with your feelings.
C. It’s quite normal for young adults to have soft toys.
D. It helps people forget their problems for a short time.
E. Being childish itself is bad for everyone, even children.
F. Some people think this means young people are afraid of growing up.
51. _________ 52. _________ 53. _________ 54. _________ 55. _________

5、 信息摘录,(每小题2分,共10分)
阅读下面短文,然后在文后表格内完成内容摘要,每空不超过三个词。
On March 20, 2026, China saw a rare(少见的)meeting of two events. The traditional Dragon Head Raising Festival(龙抬头) happened on the same day as the Spring Equinox (春分) — a special meeting that takes place about once every 19 years.
The Dragon Head Raising Festival falls on the second day of the second lunar month. In Chinese stories, the dragon wakes up with spring thunder, bringing life back to the land. For many people, this day marks a fresh start and carries the promise of a good harvest. Popular traditions include getting a haircut to leave behind bad luck, and eating “dragon-themed” foods such as spring pancakes, noodles, and wontons (馄饨). Some families also use herbs (草药) to drive away insects.
The Spring Equinox is one of China’s 24 Solar Terms. On this day, the sun crosses the equator (赤道), making day and night almost equal in length. As temperatures rise, crops grow quickly, so the equinox is very important for farming.
The coming together of these two events carries double meaning. The festival stands for rain, energy and the start of spring farming. The equinox represents balance, harmony (和谐) and natural growth. Together, they show the deep connection between Chinese culture and nature, and express people’s common hope for good weather and fruitful years.
