“Look in my eyes! Tell me why?” Have you found yourself listening to “ancient people” online recently? Creative vloggers are using AI technology to bring famous people from history, like Tang Dynasty poets Li Bai and Du Fu, “back to life”. This kind of video has become very popular, showing these historical people speaking in modern language.
In one video, Du Fu talks about his experiences while Ming Dynasty medical expert Li Shizhen jokes about modern life. “The videos let me learn more about important ancient people, such as Wen Zhengming and Tang Bohu. I didn’t know much about their stories before,” said Wang Jiayi, 15, from Shandong. These kinds of videos also make people more excited to learn about history and culture. A Douyin user from Guangdong shared her changing feelings in a message under one of the videos: “I used to be totally uninterested in history, but now I sometimes even go to the library to search for more information when some topics really attract me.”
However, not everyone enjoys the popular style. Some people feel annoyed by the way these characters speak in loud voices and always ask questions. “They’re different from how they really were,” explained 14-year-old Wang Shuotong from Jiangsu. “For example, Wen Zhengming was a polite and modest (谦逊的) artist in history. So I think the video harms his image in a way.” Xia Boen, 14, from Hubei, felt the same way. However, Xia admitted that the strong speaking style in the videos helped him remember almost everything they said about their experiences and achievements.

If you’ve ever watched tennis, you’ve probably noticed that during a break in play, the players like to eat bananas. 26 They’re eaten by all kinds of athletes, from swimmers to cyclists; marathon runners to dancers. They all find bananas to be a good snack before, during or after exercise. So what’s so special about these yellow fruits? And should you also have one when you do sports? 27 A normal banana has about 27 grams of carbs (碳水化合物), which your body can break down as a source of energy. If you are about to go on a run, or do long-time exercise, eating a banana can help you keep going. 28 Bananas also contain potassium (钾), which is good for your muscles. During exercise you will easily lose potassium through sweat, so bananas help make up for that lost potassium and stop your muscles from cramping (抽筋). What’s more, bananas are protected by their skins, which act as natural packaging (包装), keeping them fresh until you are ready to eat them. 29
Luckily, they don’t make you feel sick or too full if you have them before exercising. 30 However, it’s probably still better to eat your banana 30 to 60 minutes before you get moving to give your body time to digest it.
So should you eat bananas before exercise? The simple answer is, if you like them—go bananas!
A.They’re easy to digest (消化).
B.It’s not just tennis.
C.They taste sweet and look beautiful with bright yellow skin.
D.One good point of bananas is that they give you energy.
E.And because that skin is so easy to peel, they are a great snack for athletes on the move!
F.Bananas are also low in fat and high in fiber, making them a healthy choice for athletes.

根据“They are one of the earliest forms of moving images”可知,皮影戏是动画的早期雏形,是其发展的源头,forerunner“先驱”,符合语境,排除example“例子”、copy“复制品”和story“故事”。
根据“over 1,000 years”并结合备选项可知,固定短语date back“追溯到”,符合语境,排除from“来自”、to“到”和in“在……里”。
根据“They are one of the earliest forms of moving images”和“on”并结合备选项可知,固定搭配have a huge influence on表示“对……有巨大影响”符合语境,排除help“帮助”、problem“问题”和advantage“优势”。
4.句意:皮革的一大优点是木偶可以用很久。
根据“that the puppets last a long time”可知,木偶用皮革制作能经久耐用,这是皮革的优势,应用advantage,disadvantage“缺点”、problem“问题”、mistake“错误”均与文意相悖。
根据“so they can move just like real characters”可知,部件是可以移动的,应用movable, fixed“固定的”、broken“破损的”、big“大的”均不符合“活动”的逻辑。
根据“during exciting moments”可知,观众应是看得十分投入,视线离不开屏幕,应用take their eyes off,look at“看”、look for“寻找”、take care of“照顾”均无法表达该含义。
根据“as the puppets do difficult moves”可知,观众在紧张的表演中会十分专注,应是屏住呼吸,laugh loudly“大笑”、talk loudly“大声说话”、move around“四处走动”均不符合紧张专注的氛围。
根据“working hard to save them”,说明其面临消失的风险,应用dying out,coming back“回归”、growing fast“快速发展”、changing quickly“快速变化”均与“需要拯救”的语境矛盾。
根据“like adding modern dance moves and using digital lighting”可知,艺术家们为了让皮影戏重焕生机,正在尝试探索新的方式,应用exploring, stopping“停止”、forgetting“忘记”、copying“复制”均不符合“创新方法”的逻辑。

根据文章第二段“Before and during the Qin and Han times, most people ate two meals a day. They did not have enough food because farm work was poor.”

These videos use a more modern way to let ancient people speak for themselves. However, we should be careful with these videos, making sure they tell the truth and aren’t just for fun.
