What do you think of being 80 years old? For Cai Gao, it is still the perfect age to explore new possibilities!
In April 2026, the 80-year-old Cai became the first Chinese picture book artist to win the Hans Christian Andersen Award, the highest honor in children’s literature. To many people’s surprise, Cai never went to art school and didn’t start drawing picture books until her thirties. However, her journey as an artist began long before. It is not a simple success story but a slow, steady growth and a lifelong devotion to art.
Born in Changsha in 1946, Cai grew up surrounded (围绕) by the rich Chinese folk culture. Her grandmother’s traditional tales inspired her to translate the beauty of these stories into visual art. They became her earliest inspiration to draw. She worked as a teacher in a village school and also worked in fields with local people in her 20s. In her free time, she recorded the people and scenery she saw by drawing on paper. From the quiet, simple life in the countryside, she felt the beauty of life itself. The peaceful life in the countryside honed her observant (善于观察的) skills and brought her closer to nature.
It was not until her late thirties that Cai began to create picture books professionally. Even then, she did not rush her progress. “I never aimed for quick success. I just let my work improve naturally, step by step,” she once said. At the age of 36, Cai became an art editor. And then her long-term love for painting finally turned into formal works. Critics praised her work for bridging Eastern and Western sensibilities (审美观), making traditional Chinese stories easy to understand and attractive to readers around the world.
Now, in her books, you can still feel the pure beauty, just like the world in the eyes of kids. As she accepts this award, Cai Gao continues to create and educate young artists. Her story is a powerful reminder that passion, patience, and staying true to one’s roots (不忘初心) can lead to great achievements—even at 80.
23. What can we learn about Cai Gao from Paragraph 2?
A. It’s not easy for her to achieve success.
B. She began drawing picture books when she was 20.
C. She is the first picture book artist to win the Hans Christian Andersen Award.
24. The underlined word “honed” in Paragraph 3 probably means ________.
A. 展示 B. 表达 C. 培养
25. Which of the following is TRUE about Cai Gao’s works?
A. They mix Eastern and Western art ideas.
B. They only show the beauty of modern city life.
C. They are hard for foreign readers to understand.
26. What is the main idea of the passage?
A. Cai Gao’s slow and steady road to success.
B. The Hans Christian Andersen Award and its influence.
C. Cai Gao’s childhood in Changsha and her love for folk tales.
(C)
The first thing that Yang Weina, an office worker, does every morning is to check the sleep score on her smartwatch. She has been getting low scores because she works late at night. She also finds the heart rate monitor (监测器) useful. When she is busy, her heart rate can go over 120 beats per minute, reminding her to take a break.
Many young people are now using smartwatches and AI apps to gather information about their bodies and get health advice. This is called “cyber (网络) wellness”. For example, 28-year-old Lin Yiran takes a photo of her tongue(舌头) every morning and sends it to an AI health app. In traditional Chinese medicine, the tongue is believed to show overall health.
Doctors suggest that these digital tools can help, but they cannot replace real doctors. Zhang Jin, a doctor from a Chinese medicine hospital, says, “Many people don’t have time to go to the hospital. Apps can give early health tips, but you cannot get real diagnoses (诊断) just from an app or a photo of your tongue.”
Another doctor, Jiang Quan, also agrees that digital tools are useful. They help people see how their habits-like staying up late or sitting too long—affect their bodies. But she reminds people not to check their health data too often. “Repeatedly checking your heart rate or sleep score can make you more worried and even lead to insomnia (失眠),” she says.
The rule is simple: treat smartwatch and app data as early warnings, not diagnoses. If you feel sick or see strange numbers on your watch, go to the hospital for a real check-up.
27. What does Yang Weina do every morning?
A. Play games and relax herself.
B. See her sleep score on the smartwatch.
C. Send a photo of her tongue to an AI health app.
28. How do many young people get health advice according to the passage?
A. By checking their heart rate.
B. By taking photos of their tongues.
C. By using smartwatches and AI apps.
29. Why does Dr. Jiang Quan remind people not to check their health data too often?
A. Because smartwatches often give wrong numbers.
B. Because doctors do not trust any digital health tools
C. Because checking too often may cause worry and sleeping problems.
30. What is the purpose of the passage?
A. To encourage people to trust health apps completely.
B. To explain digital tools can help but not replace doctors.
C. To advise people to use smartwatches and AI apps every day.

第四部分 读写综合(共两节,满分25分)
第一节 阅读下面短文,根据短文内容回答问题。
When we make exercise plans, we usually care about physical benefits, like keeping fit, building muscles or losing weight. However, exercise also greatly improves our mental health. This is called the mind-body connection.
Rachel Goldman is a psychologist (心理学家) and writer. She says our brain and body keep communicating all the time. The brain sends messages to the body through nerves and hormones (荷尔蒙). At the same time, the body tells the brain how it feels. When we exercise, our brain will change. Any aerobic (有氧的) exercise can produce “happy hormones”. This makes us feel excited and satisfied. Usually, we need 20 to 40 minutes of light but steady exercise to get this good feeling.
Goldman advises her patients to exercise to reduce stress. If you feel stressed or worried, you can try active sports like running or jumping jacks. If you feel tired or upset, slow activities such as walking, yoga or stretching are better. Everyone can find suitable exercise for themselves. There is no perfect way to exercise. What works for one person may not work for another. We can choose different sports in different situations. The best exercise is what makes you happy. Keeping a regular habit helps us get more mental health benefits. We will not keep exercising if we don’t enjoy it.
Though exercise helps our mind a lot, we should keep balance. Do we exercise for fun, or just because we have to? If you exercise strictly, you can ask mental health experts for help.
56. Does exercise bring benefits to our mental health?
