A. mainly B. nearly C. finally D. simply 【答案】1. B 2. D 3. C 4. A 5. D 6. A 7. B 8. C 9. A 10. 结合“Good friends are always there for you”可知,此处表达“依靠、依赖”的含义。depend on“依赖、依靠”符合语境;carry on“继续”;take on“承担”;hold on“坚持/别挂电话”均不符合句意。 根据后文“live longer than the others with fewer connections”可知,此处指“紧密的社交联系”能降低健康风险。 根据后文“go to places where others are gathered”可知,此处表达“认识、遇见新朋友”的含义。 固定表达“The more..., the greater your possible success(越努力,成功的可能性越大)”符合语境。 A Totally Wild Hotel WHERE: Kenya, Africa WHY IT'S SPECIAL: Ever have the feeling you're being watched? Want to try using it yourself? Let’s do a cool project—making a solar tower! You can try this project at home. You just need some tapes, a pin (别针), paper, three cans and two big thick books. Now, we’re going to build the solar tower. First, make a pinwheel (纸风车) with a piece of paper. In the second stage, cut off the tops and bottoms of the cans, place the cans on top of each other and stick them together. Next, use a pin to connect the pinwheel with the tower. Finally, put the can tower on top of the books, which are 5 cm apart from each other. So there’s a gap (间隔) at the bottom, allowing the air to enter the tower. Now, all we have to do is to set the whole thing near a window, where there’s direct sunlight. When the sun shines on the tower, it gets hot and warms the air in it. The warmer air moves upward through the tower and makes the pinwheel turn around as it passes by. Then cooler air comes in through the gap from the bottom of the tower, gets heated up, and rises, so the cycle goes on. This is how it works. How amazing! So next time you feel the warm sun on your face, remember that it’s more than just a nice feeling—sunlight is a powerful and useful source of energy. 14. Which step comes FIRST in building the solar tower? A. Connect the pinwheel to the tower. B. Make a pinwheel with paper. C. Stick the cans together. D. Place the tower on books. 15. Why do we leave a gap between the two books? A. To stop the tower from falling off. B. To stop the books from heating up. C. To make the air get into the tower. D. To make the air get out of the tower. 16. How does the air travel through the tower? (for warm air; for cold air) A. B. C. D. 17. Which is the correct order of the passage structure? A. ①Introduction→②Steps→③Materials→④Principle (原理) →⑤Conclusion B. ①Principle→②Materials→③Steps→④Conclusion→⑤Introduction C. ①Introduction→②Materials→③Steps→④Principle→⑤Conclusion D. ①Materials→②Introduction→③Steps→④Conclusion→⑤Principle 【答案】14. B 15. C 16. A 17. 【14题详解】 第三段明确指出步骤顺序:“First, make a pinwheel with a piece of paper”,“First”表明用一张纸做一个风车是第一步。 【15题详解】 第三段末尾提到:“there’s a gap at the bottom, allowing the air to enter the tower”,留间隔的目的是让空气进入塔内。 【16题详解】 第四段说明:“The warmer air moves upward through the tower”(暖空气向上)以及“cooler air comes in through the gap from the bottom”(冷空气从底部进入),即暖空气上升、冷空气从底部补充。 (Conclusion)。 C Charlotte Bauer has been ill since she was two years old. More than anything, I want them to know that Charlotte has touched many lives.” Katie asked each of her followers on the Internet to write Charlotte a birthday card. It took them weeks to go through them all. “We read every letter to her, and she makes happy sounds and smiles,” Jenna said. “You can see that she really loves and can feel the love. It really touches her and all of us.” Jenna especially was grateful for the acts of service that people had been performing for one another because of her daughter. “It’s been really special to see how much Charlotte has touched our lives and changed our hearts, and then to see the influence she has had on so many people,” Jenna said. “We have been changed by everyone who has reached out to us in love because of Charlotte. Why not make your own music with the help of AI? Artificial intelligence (AI) can do many different things. From controlling the lights in our homes to helping us order pizzas, it seems there aren’t many more uses for AI than we already have. However, can AI make music like human beings? Thanks to a team of Swiss scientists, AI may soon be able to come up with music especially for us. Researchers at the Ecole Polytechnique Federale de Lausanne (EPFL) in Switzerland have created a computer algorithm (算法), the “Deep Artificial composer” (DAC), which can create original music all by itself. Florian Colombo, an EPFL scientist who helped create the DAC, said that AI could produce complete melodies (旋律), with a beginning and an end. At present, the DAC is only able to produce several pieces of traditional Irish folk music, but it’s hoped that it will be able to create songs based on any type of music in the end. To “teach” the DAC, the scientists trained it to “listen” to over 2,000 different folk songs. Based on this input (输入), the AI taught itself how to compose music, from getting the pitch (音高) and timing right, to choosing the right notes. This process is still in its early stages, with the DAC still not producing perfect results, but Colombo told AFP that the AI’s music is still “quite pleasant to listen to.” While the idea sounds very hopeful, we shouldn’t expect the DAC to replace real-life composers any time soon. According to Colombo, the system was designed to produce only simple melodies. So far, it can only create songs based on a single instrument. Colombo said that his purpose in creating the DAC was to help people create their own music, not to have it made for them. His exciting new ideas came from Austrian composer Wolfgang Mozart. It’s said that he used to throw dice (掷骰子) to help him pick which notes to use when making new music. “A good composer with creative ideas will never be replaced by an algorithm.” Colombo told AFP. 22. How does the writer begin the passage? A. By sharing different ideas on AI. B. By explaining the meaning of AI. C. By showing the development of AI. D. By presenting the advantages of AI. 23. Why does Colombo mention Austrian composer Wolfgang Mozart? A. To express his respect for Mozart. B. To present his achievement on AI music. C. To praise Mozart’s contribution to music. D. To explain his purpose in creating the DAC. 24. What can we learn about the DAC from the passage? A. The DAC was refused by some composers. B. The DAC can’t be used instead of real-life composers. C. Music creation has to depend on the DAC. D. Scientists are amazed at music made by the DAC. 25. Which can be a suitable title for the passage? A. AI is Changing Music Creation B. AI Composers VS Human Composers C. How AI Replaces Human Composers D. Colombo Helped Create the DAC 【答案】22. A 23. D 24. B 25. 【22题详解】 第一段以“Music is beauty in sounds. Why not make your own music with the help of AI?” 【23题详解】 倒数第二段指出:“Colombo said that his purpose in creating the DAC was to help people create their own music, not to have it made for them. His exciting new ideas came from Austrian composer Wolfgang Mozart.”,说明Colombo提到莫扎特是为了解释他创建DAC的目的——莫扎特曾用掷骰子的方式帮助选择音符,这启发了Colombo。 【24题详解】 倒数第三段指出:“we shouldn’t expect the DAC to replace real-life composers any time soon.”,说明DAC无法取代现实生活中的作曲家,B项正确。 Have your teachers ever visited your home? Home visits used to be a key way for teachers and families to communicate. ____26____ A recent survey in Zhejiang Province found that 85.5 per cent of 6,200 parents don’t like teachers visiting their homes, CCTV reported. ____27____ Some parents have a strong sense of privacy (隐私), while others find the preparation work tiring. For busy teachers, visiting all their students’ homes can take up too much of their energy and time, too. To solve the problem, schools and teachers in China are trying new ways to communicate. ____28____ During these meetings, teachers give a 30-minute summary (总结) and then have one-on-one meetings with each parent for 15-20 minutes. This makes communication clearer and focuses more on what’s truly important. Wang’s school has also set up a parent classroom. ____29____ This programme shows the importance of a peaceful home environment for children and develops stronger relationships between the school and families. Other schools are also trying new ideas. These include meeting in public places like cafés or tearooms. What’s more, Shanghai Municipal Kindergarten asks parents first. ____30____ This method results in “full communication and understanding between home and school”, a parent told The Paper. A. For example, Wang Hongjun, a principal in Shenzhen, holds parent-teacher meetings twice each semester (学期) instead of once. B. Teachers often feel nervous when talking with parents face to face. C. There are several reasons for this. D. Parents certainly say no to home visits. E. It offers group activities and book clubs to support parents’ development. F. You’re only allowed to save one thing. Your family and pets are safe, so don’t worry about them. What is the most important thing you want to save? It can be anything in any size.” Linda Sue Park wrote a book called The One Thing You’d Save. In it, a teacher named Ms Chang invites her students to think of the question above. She wants to challenge her class to name the most important thing to them. Some students know the answer right away. Others come to their decisions much more slowly. Even Ms Chang shares with the students her own choice in the end. It is a really thought-provoking (引人深思的) question. As the students are trying to answer it, they discover more about one another and also about themselves. The book is a collection of poems. The writer tells the story through narrative (故事体的) poems. 15.
