How can you make a fun indoor camping experience? Sleep in a tent To make the camping real, try and sleep in a real tent. If you don’t have one, then you can always set up a simple tent out of blankets (毯子) and your dining room table. Fill the inside of your tent with sleeping bags and torch (手电筒). The kids may want to bring their fairy lights and soft toys to the inside of the tent, too. Make a pretend campfire (假篝火) Get the kids to make a pretend campfire. You can use some colored card and shine a torch. You can also add some firewood around it. If you are lucky enough to have a real fireplace, then use this instead! The best thing about a campfire is that your family can sit around it to tell scary stories, make shadow puppets (影子木偶) or play campfire games. Bedtime stories by flashlight Children will enjoy reading bedtime stories by flashlight in their tent. Somehow reading by flashlight always makes stories seem more exciting for kids. Your little ones will fall asleep from their indoor camping adventure. And it’s time for you to relax and enjoy watching them sleep. 16.According to the text, how can we make the indoor camping more fun? A.By sleeping in a real tent. B.By making wood into different objects. C.By playing with lights. D.By playing games on the phones. 17.What can we do around a campfire? A.Tell scary stories. B.Enjoy beautiful nature. C.Cook delicious food. D.Have a competition. 18.Who may be most interested in the text? A.James, a businessman who sells schoolbags. B.Mary, a teacher who wants to make her class fun. C.John, a father who has a three-year-old daughter. D.Alice, a college student who’s looking for a job. 根据“How can you make a fun indoor camping experience?...To make the camping real, try and sleep in a real tent.” 故选A。 17. 根据“The best thing about a campfire is that your family can sit around it to tell scary stories, make shadow puppets (影子木偶) or play campfire games.” 故选A。 18. 根据“The kids may want to bring their fairy lights and soft toys to the inside of the tent, too.”及“Get the kids to make a pretend campfire”及“Children will enjoy reading bedtime stories by flashlight in their tent. ”可推知,家里有孩子的家庭对本文可能感兴趣。故选C。 B ①After a week of rain, we finally had a comfortable and beautiful summer day outside. My husband was driving to a nearby town when my daughter found a yard sale. We saw old toys, a couple of guitars, huge piles of clothes and even a piece of furniture or two for sale. Best of all, we saw lots of smiling people talking, laughing, sitting and standing in the sunshine. ②Seeing all of this brought back memories of my childhood. Most of my clothes back then came from yard sales. My mom was quite a good yard sale shopper. ③I used to hate going to yard sales until one day when I saw some old books there. After that, I always browsed (翻阅) the books until it was time to go. Sometimes my mom would buy one for me. Soon a large part of my home library came from yard sale books because they were cheaper than new ones. ④Why do we have yard sales? We drop our old things and we buy “new” old things. But it certainly isn’t for the money. ▲ We talk and catch up with old friends and new neighbors. We connect with kindness and our love for all the old things. ⑤Another reason is that sales teach us something about life. We can’t really own anything here, after all. All we get is to have the thing for a period of time. Then it is time to let it go and pass it on. 19.What can we know from Paragraph 1? A.The family drove outside on a rainy day. B.The writer found a yard sale in a city. C.There were few people at the yard sale. D.Old things were for sale at the yard sale. 20.What probably made the writer start enjoying yard sales? A.Her mom liked yard sales. B.She found old books there. C.She bought many clothes there. D.She saw smiling people there. 21.Which of the following can be put in ________? A.No sell, no kill. B.Making money isn’t easy. C.One door closes, another opens. D.Yard sales bring us together. 22.Which of the following best shows the structure of the passage? 根据“We saw old toys, a couple of guitars, huge piles of clothes and even a piece of furniture or two for sale.” 根据“I used to hate going to yard sales until one day when I saw some old books there. After that, I always browsed (翻阅) the books until it was time to go.” 根据“We talk and catch up with old friends and new neighbors. We connect with kindness and our love for all the old things.” A。 C Jenny Miller was born in Lima, Peru. Her parents were French scientists. Her dad studied animals, and her mom was an expert on birds. When Jenny was 14, her family moved to the Amazon to build a research station called Panguana. There, Jenny learned how to live in the rainforest, like how to find food and water, and how to stay safe from dangerous animals. On December 24, 1971, 17-year-old Jenny was on a plane. She was going to the Panguana Biological Station in Peru with her mother. It was a common journey at first. However, the plane broke apart in the air. You can imagine Jenny’s fear! Jenny amazingly survived (幸存) the fall from nearly 10,000 feet. She was still tied to her seat by a seatbelt at that time. After the accident, Jenny was left alone and badly hurt in the middle of the Peruvian rainforest. She only had one shoe and a broken skirt. The rainforest was very dangerous, with snakes hiding in the dead leaves on the ground. She remembered what her parents taught her and started walking. She followed a river because she thought it was safer. The weather was terrible: very hot during the day, very cold at night, and heavy rain often made things harder. She only ate candy until it was gone. After nine days’ walking through the dangerous rainforest, she found a camp by accident. Workers there helped her and took her to a village. Then, she flew on a plane to a hospital. Jenny was the only person who lived from the accident. After she got better, she helped a search team find the crash site (坠落点) and the people who didn’t survive, including her mother. Her story was later made into a documentary (纪录片), and her book When I Fell From The Sky came out then. 23.What can we know about Jenny’s parents? A.They were both doctors. B.They built a station to study leaves. C.They taught Jenny skills to save life. D.They were both on the plane with Jenny. 24.How did Jenny’s feeling change during the airline travel? A.From sad to excited. B.From calm to afraid. C.From amazed to bored. D.From angry lo surprised. 25.What’s the main idea of the third and fourth paragraphs? A.How Jenny made a camp alone. B.The process of the unlucky accident in Jenny’s book. C.How Jenny fought against the danger in the rainforest. D.The result of the searching action with the help of Jenny. 26.Which can most probably be the name of the documentary? A.Wings of Hope B.City of the Sky C.Sounds of Nature D.Cry of the River 【答案】23.C 24.B 25.C 26.A 【导语】本文主要讲述了Jenny Miller因飞机失事坠落在秘鲁雨林,凭借父母所教的技能,最终获救,她是事故唯一的幸存者,其故事被拍成纪录片、写成书的经历。 根据“There, Jenny learned how to live in the rainforest, like how to find food and water, and how to stay safe from dangerous animals.” 根据“It was a common journey at first. However, the plane broke apart in the air. You can imagine Jenny’s fear!” A。 D Are you using your headphones too much? Noise-canceling headphones (降噪耳机) bring you a quiet world, but using them for too long might be bad for your brain, according to the New York Post. Doctors from the UK’s National Health Service (NHS) have seen more young people having “ear problems”. These problems include trouble understanding speech or needing words to watch videos. However, though their ears are healthy, it’s their brains that are affected This problem is known as auditory processing disorder (APD) People with APD can hear sounds but find it hard to understand them. We hear different sounds at the same time. To understand the information we hear well, our brains need to choose the important sounds to listen to, and not to listen to useless information. That is why we can understand our friends when we talk even in a very noisy room. If we don’t hear different kinds of sounds, we can lose this skill, said NHS doctors. Noise-canceling headphones take away these different sounds, which might be a part of the problem because they make a “false environment”. This makes it easier for your brain, so it doesn’t have to work very hard. Noise travels in waves (波) through air and water. Noise-canceling headphones stop these waves in two ways: One is to use things like special ear cups. The other is to use a microphone (麦克风) to cancel out noise with different sound waves. This technology can be bad for your health if you use it too much. However, it is still helpful for people working in noisy places. 27.Why does the writer ask a question at the beginning? A.To do a survey. B.To interest the readers. C.To show a scene. D.To get the certain answer. 28.What do we know about APD in the passage? A.It is caused by ear illness. B.It causes people to hear nothing. C.It is caused by listening to different sounds. D.It causes people to understand sounds hard. 29.What’s the main purpose of this passage? A.To give us some advice on ear problems. B.To tell us the importance of noise-canceling headphones. C.To remind us to use noise-canceling headphones properly. D.To describe how noise-canceling technology works. 30.In which part of the magazine can we read this passage? A.Music and art. B.Science and health. C.Humans and nature. D.Science and technology. 文章开头通过提问“Are you using your headphones too much?” 根据“People with APD can hear sounds but find it hard to understand them.” Some people seem to be born happy. If you don’t have one, then you can always set up a simple tent out of blankets (毯子) and your dining room table. Fill the inside of your tent with sleeping bags and torch (手电筒). B.The process of the unlucky accident in Jenny’s book. C.How Jenny fought against the danger in the rainforest. D.The result of the searching action with the help of Jenny. 26.Which can most probably be the name of the documentary? A.Wings of Hope B.City of the Sky C.Sounds of Nature D.Cry of the River D Are you using your headphones too much? Some people seem to be born happy.
