The village of Greenhaven suffered from drought (旱灾) for years. Rivers ran dry and crops failed. While most villagers gave up hope, ten-year-old Larry had an idea from his science class: to build a “dew trap (露水收集器)”.
He learned how desert beetles (甲虫) collect drinking water from fog (雾气) on their backs. Larry wondered, “If a beetle can do it, why can’t we?” He used an old plastic bottle and a mesh screen (网筛) to make his first trap. Every morning before school, he checked his trap.
For weeks, only a few drops appeared. “Just a toy,” some villagers laughed. Larry began to lose hope. Yet, he remembered some words: Nature has already solved many problems. We just need to learn to look closely. He learned from the beetles again and decided to make his trap’s surface much larger.
One evening, a thick fog came down. Larry placed his trap on the hill. It was a piece of plastic held up by a wooden structure. The next morning, he found not just drops, but a small, clear pool of water. A great sense of achievement filled his heart. Word spread quickly. Soon, many villagers joined him to build bigger traps. Within a month, they collected enough water for their gardens.
Thanks to Larry, Greenhaven was green again. Larry learned that the greatest strength lies not in fighting nature, but in learning from it.

Clara’s legs had grown weak after a serious illness, and she had not stood on her own for years. She lived in a big city house with her father and a strict governess (家庭女教师). Day after day, she sat in her wheelchair by the window, watching the streets. She had no friends, and often felt lonely and bored.
One day Heidi came to live with Clara’s family, everything changed. The lively mountain girl would sit by Clara’s wheelchair for hours, telling stories of blue skies, green meadow (草地) and cute sheep. She described how the sun felt warm even in cool mountain air. Clara’s eyes lit up as she listened, forgetting her pain and loneliness for the first time in years. She began asking questions about the mountains and dreamed of going there herself, imagining walking through meadows with grass under her feet.
The governess did not like Heidi’s stories. She thought they were silly and would make Clara uneasy, worrying Clara would want things she couldn’t have. “The mountains are dangerous,” she said. “Clara is too weak to go there. She must stay here, where she is safe and quiet.” But Clara disagreed with her because thinking about the mountains made her feel more energetic. She ate more, slept better, and she even tried to stand on her own, holding the table, legs shaking but eyes bright with hope.
One morning, Clara’s father sat with the two girls and announced Heidi would return to the mountains for a visit to see her grandfather. ▲ “What will I do without you?” she asked, voice trembling (颤抖). “You are the only one who makes me feel alive.” Heidi took her hand gently. “You will come to the mountains one day,” she said. “The mountains are waiting for you. I know they will help you. You are stronger than you think. ”
That night, Clara sat by her window and looked up at the stars, which seemed brighter than ever. She thought about the meadows, the goats, and the fresh mountain air. She closed her eyes and made a wish: she would get better, no matter what the governess said, and one day she would walk in the mountains herself.

空白后的句子是“‘What will I do without you?’ she asked, voice trembling.” 克拉拉声音颤抖地问,说明她非常难过和不舍,因此空白处应描写克拉拉听到这个消息后的伤心反应。

You may feel disappointed when you don’t succeed. However, failing in something can lead to new understanding and even better results. Here are some ways to turn failure into a positive force (力量) in your life.
Sometimes you may not do something very well. Don’t think too much about your mistakes. You can’t change the past. You can only change the future. Focus on what you can do next to get better.
If people are used to doing well, they may worry that they might not be good at something new. This could mean missing out on all kinds of chances. Never let the fear of failure stop you.
Some things in life are easy, while others are challenging. When you are faced with difficulties, it’s easy to give up. But if you keep trying, you can achieve great things, just like riding a bike. It requires practice, balance, and courage. If you fall off, get back up and try again!
Keeping going after failure is a great skill. It can open up new paths for you to try. Maybe you fail at one career path, but that failure leads you to discover a field you truly love.

The AI That Helped Me Find My Voice
Last semester, our teacher asked each of us to give a three-minute speech in front of the class. When I heard this, my heart beat wildly. I was always shy and afraid to speak in public.
To prepare, I tried an AI speech-training app. The AI listened to my voice and gave me advice. It told me to slow down and speak more clearly. It also helped me remember my speech by turning my key points into a fun story.
With the AI’s help, I practiced every day and became more confident. On the speech day, I stood in front of the class. I took a deep breath and started speaking. To my surprise, I finished my speech without making any big mistakes! My classmates clapped for me. I felt proud.
Now, I’m still not a perfect speaker. But I’ve learned a lesson: sometimes, technology can help us become a better version of ourselves.
