B Severe plantar fasciitis (足底筋膜炎) meant I’d been a full-time wheelchair user since I was 12. By the time I was 16, I just wanted my leg off. It took six years for the doctors to operate as they insisted on waiting until I was older and in a good enough place mentally. I held off until I finished my degree. Afterward, with an artificial leg fitted, the world felt like a different place. I’d not walked in years. Suddenly I was a lot taller and no longer in any pain. When I was in a wheelchair I discovered a real love for sport. I started to compete in wheelchair racing, and soon found I was good at discus (铁饼) throwing. I started competing in Tough Mudder (an endurance event series), progressing from walking with crutches to blade (小腿假肢) running. I now compete in sports internationally and have won the silver medal for adaptive judo at the World Judo Games. At the time of the surgery I worked as an accountant, but I soon realized I didn’t want to be sitting in an office all day as I’d been in a wheelchair for so long. Therefore, as soon as the revision surgery was complete, I handed in my notice. My career took a different path after I was asked to be a guest presenter for the Duke of Edinburgh’s Awards. Now I speak to schools, colleges and organizations about a wide range of subjects such as disability, discrimination, disability in sport, and perseverance. I share my own personal stories, whether that’s how I lost my leg and what I learned from it, my perseverance, and how I followed my dream. Now most of my income comes from working as a motivational speaker, which I’ve been doing full time for a year. I love what I do, and if I continue to inspire others to do what they want to in life, then I’m happy. 4. How did the author probably feel after his leg was cut off? A. Anxious. B. Relieved. C. Hopeless. D. Annoyed. 5. What is the second paragraph mainly about? A. The author’s passion for sports. B. Awards the author won playing sports. C. What sports the author is good at. D. How the author prepared for Tough Mudder. 6. What do the underlined words “handed in my notice” in Paragraph 3 mean? A. Quit the job. B. Asked for leave. C. Got promoted. D. Spread the news to others. 7. What’s the main reason for him to be a motivational speaker? A. It was his dream during childhood. B. He enjoys the fame it brings him. C. It brings him money and a sense of fulfillment. D. He wants more people to care about the disabled. C This week Surgeon General Vivek H. Murthy released a warning about the risks that social media presents to the mental health of children and teenagers. Adolescent (青少年的) mental health has been declining for years, and an increasing amount of research suggests that social media platforms could be partially to blame. But experts continue to debate just how much impact they have. Numerous studies demonstrate that adolescent rates of depression, anxiety and loneliness have skyrocketed in the U. S. and elsewhere since around the time that smartphones and social media became ever-present. Yet the role social media plays has been widely debated. Some researchers have sounded the alarm, arguing that social media provides the most credible explanation for problems such as enhanced teen loneliness. Other researchers have been sitting on the fence. In 2019, Jeff Hanceck, founding director of the Social Media Lab at Stanford University, and his colleagues completed an analysis of 226 scientific papers dating back to 2006. They concluded that social media was associated with not only a slight increase in depression and anxiety but also improvements in feelings of belonging and connectedness. Some recent studies have attempted to figure out the link between social media and mental health, asking, for instance, whether social media use is causing depression or whether people are being more active on social media because they’re depressed. In an attempt to present evidence, Massachusetts Institute of Technology economist Alexey Makarin and two of his colleagues conducted mental health surveys taken by college students across the country. Their study, published in 2022, found that rocketing rates of depression and anxiety followed Facebook’s arrival. Makarin says much of the harm they documented came from social comparisons: students viewed the online images of their peers and believed them to “have nicer lives, party more often, have more friends and look better.” “In total, there’s an increasingly clear picture that, indeed, social media has a negative impact on mental health,” Makarin says. “We are not saying that social media can explain 100 percent of the rise of mental health issues... But it could potentially explain a sizeable portion.” 8. What can be learnt about social media? A. It plays an important role in treating mental illness. B. It is the leading cause of adolescent depression. C. It has negative influence on adolescent mental health. D. Its impact on mental health is still unknown. 9. What is Jeff Hancock’s attitude towards social media? A. Objective. B. Critical. C. Favorable. D. Uncaring. 10. How does social media influence teenagers according to Makarin? A. By threatening their academic performance. B. By causing them to be addicted to online images. C. By making them feel worse-off than others. D. By reminding them to balance their life. 11. What is the main purpose of the text? A. To warn people of the harm of using social media frequently. B. To expose the link between social media and mental health. C. To analyze the causes of worsening adolescent mental health. D. To introduce an effective approach to handling mental illness. D In 2013, the World Health Organization (WHO) set an ambitious goal: reduce the global physical inactivity rate by 10 percent by 2025. However, despite numerous public health campaigns and efforts tied to the Olympic Games, people are moving less than ever. The latest data indicates that 31 percent of adults worldwide aren’t meeting physical activity guidelines, a 5-percentage-point increase from 26 percent in 2010. Among teens, the numbers are worse: 81 percent aren’t moving enough. So, what went wrong? From public health policy to urban design issues, there are numerous ways to criticize current strategies. However, some experts are asking a more fundamental question — have we been promoting physical activity all wrong? For years, public health campaigns have relied heavily on the “exercise is medicine” narrative to promote physical activity. We have all heard it time and again: get active if you want to prevent illnesses like diabetes and heart diseases. It is a message based on strong scientific evidence, and you would think that the promise of good health is the best possible motivator. Benjamin Rigby, a UK public health researcher, argues that reducing movement merely as a way to prevent disease oversimplifies why people choose to be active. “We want to play, to laugh, to explore, to dance, and feel proud and ultimately, to have fun and feel good,” he says. A growing number of studies support this idea of shifting the spotlight away from health-focused narratives. A UK analysis of 123 studies concluded that health reasons aren’t necessarily what motivate people to get off the couch. The most effective messages highlight the short-term rewards of being active — like feeling good, reducing stress or having fun with friends — not the threat of illness. Solid evidence also shows that people are more likely to stay active when it’s fun. Enjoyment is linked to young people consistently participating in sports. And remember Pokémon GO ? That craze has its most engaged users walking an extra 1473 steps a day on average, just because they were excited to “catch ‘em all”. Given the evidence, why haven’t public health messages tailored more closely with motivations centred on enjoyment? While health narratives appeal to institutions, with the next target of reducing inactivity by 15% by 2030, change is urgently needed. 12. What happened to the global physical inactivity rate between 2010 and 2025? A. Teen inactivity decreased significantly. B. Adult inactivity rose from 26% to 31%. C. The 10% reduction goal was achieved. D. WHO successfully reduced inactivity rate by 5%. 13. What’s the problem with the current physical activity promotion strategies? A. They attach little importance to the Olympic Games. B. They focus too much on the urban design issues. C. They ignore the scientific evidence behind exercise. D. They rely too much on health benefits as motivation. 14. Why does the author mention “Pokémon GO” in paragraph 5 ? A. To present a fact. B. To give an example. C. To make a comparison. D. To explain a concept. 15. What can be a suitable title for the text? A. Finding emotion in motion. B. Exercise is the best medicine. C. Connecting others through games. D. A little movement for better health. Looking for a job where you can make a difference? It connected me to my roots, as my father and grandfather had all graduated from here. So, when our teacher Mr. Dow announced a group project to create a brochure (小册子) about our school for its 100th anniversary, I was excited. The best three brochures would be displayed in the school library, which was a chance to show the new students how wonderful our school was. I was paired with two classmates: Jake who loved photography, and Lily who had a gift for writing. Working with others could be fun, right? But my enthusiasm quickly faded. Our first meeting was a disaster. When we discussed which part of the school we should focus on, Jake kept talking about cameras and photos. I turned to Lily, hoping for some support. But she simply shrugged and said, “I’m not really into this. It sounds boring.” Jake nodded in agreement. The project seemed to be harder than I thought. At our next meeting, I tried to lead the conversation back to the project. I shared some interesting facts I had researched about the school. However, neither of them seemed interested. Jake had promised to gather materials from the library, but instead he showed us photos taken on the weekend. Lily hadn’t started her part of the research either, claiming she had been too busy. I felt like I was the only one who cared. Back home, I decided to take matters into my own hands. I stayed up late that night, trying to create the brochure by myself. But no matter how hard I tried, the result was far from satisfactory. I was exhausted and disheartened. My mom noticed I was upset. “You can’t do this alone,” she gently reminded me. “Jake and Lily have talents that can make this project shine. You just need to find a way to get them involved.” With only three days left, my pressure increased gradually. _______________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________ On the final day, we presented our brochure in class. _______________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________ 第1页/共1页 学科网(北京)股份有限公司 $ 长沙市周南中学2026届高三第3次模拟测试英语试题 第一部分:听力(共两节,满分30分) 第一节(共5小题;每小题1.5分,满分7.5分) 听下面5段录音。 1. D. Spread the news to others. 7. What’s the main reason for him to be a motivational speaker? A. It was his dream during childhood. B. He enjoys the fame it brings him. C. It brings him money and a sense of fulfillment. D. He wants more people to care about the disabled. B 5. A 6. A 7. Afterward, with an artificial leg fitted, the world felt like a different place. I’d not walked in years. Suddenly I was a lot taller and no longer in any pain.(用一条人造腿后,我的整个世界感觉就像一个不同的地方。 When I was in a wheelchair I discovered a real love for sport. I discovered a real love for sport. 故选A。 At the time of the surgery I worked as an accountant, but I soon realized I didn’t want to be sitting in an office all day as I’d been in a wheelchair for so long. “handed in my notice” 意思是辞职。故选A。 Now most of my income comes from working as a motivational speaker, which I’ve been doing full time for a year. I love what I do, and if I continue to inspire others to do what they want to in life, then I’m happy. C。 C This week Surgeon General Vivek H. C 9. A 10. C 11. 根据文章第一段“This week Surgeon General Vivek H. Murthy released a warning about the risks that social media presents to the mental health of children and teenagers.(本周,美国卫生局局长Vivek H. Murthy发布了一则关于社交媒体对儿童和青少年心理健康构成风险的警告。)”以及最后一段““In total, there’s an increasingly clear picture that, indeed, social media has a negative impact on mental health,” Makarin says.(Makarin说:“总体而言,有越来越清晰的迹象表明,社交媒体确实对心理健康产生了负面影响。”)” 根据文章第三段“Other researchers have been sitting on the fence. In 2019, Jeff Hanceck, founding director of the Social Media Lab at Stanford University, and his colleagues completed an analysis of 226 scientific papers dating back to 2006. They concluded that social media was associated with not only a slight increase in depression and anxiety but also improvements in feelings of belonging and connectedness.(而另一些研究人员则持中立态度。2019年,斯坦福大学社交媒体实验室的创始主任Jeff Hanceck及其同事对226篇可追溯到 2006年的科学论文进行了分析。他们得出的结论是,社交媒体不仅与抑郁症和焦虑症的轻微增加有关,还能提升归属感和联系感。)”可知,Jeff Hanceck既指出了社交媒体会使抑郁症和焦虑症有轻微增加,又提到它能提升归属感和联系感,全面地看到了社交媒体的利弊,这种态度是客观的。故选A。 根据文章第四段“Makarin says much of the harm they documented came from social comparisons: students viewed the online images of their peers and believed them to “have nicer lives, party more often, have more friends and look better.”(Makarin表示,他们记录的大部分危害来自于社交比较:学生们看到同龄人在网上发布的照片,就认为他们“生活更美好、聚会更频繁、朋友更多、外表更出众”。)” B。 D In 2013, the World Health Organization (WHO) set an ambitious goal: reduce the global physical inactivity rate by 10 percent by 2025. B 13. D 14. B 15. 根据第一段中“The latest data indicates that 31 percent of adults worldwide aren’t meeting physical activity guidelines, a 5-percentage-point increase from 26 percent in 2010.(最新数据显示,全球31%的成年人没有达到身体活动指南的标准,比2010年的26%上升了5个百分点。)” 根据第二段中“For years, public health campaigns have relied heavily on the “exercise is medicine” narrative to promote physical activity.(多年来,公共卫生运动严重依赖“运动就是良药”的说法来推广体育活动。)”以及第三段中“Benjamin Rigby, a UK public health researcher, argues that reducing movement merely as a way to prevent disease oversimplifies why people choose to be active.(英国公共卫生研究员Benjamin Rigby认为,仅仅将减少运动作为一种预防疾病的方式,过于简化了人们选择运动的原因。)” 根据第五段中“Solid evidence also shows that people are more likely to stay active when it’s fun. Enjoyment is linked to young people consistently participating in sports. And remember Pokémon GO ? That craze has its most engaged users walking an extra 1473 steps a day on average, just because they were excited to “catch ‘em all”.(确凿的证据还表明,当运动有趣时,人们更有可能保持活跃。享受与年轻人持续参与体育活动有关。还记得《精灵宝可梦GO》吗?这款游戏最热心的用户平均每天多走1473步,只是因为他们很兴奋能“抓住它们”。)”可知,作者提到《精灵宝可梦GO》是为了举例说明当运动有趣时,人们更有可能保持活跃。故选B。 【15题详解】 主旨大意题。通读全文,尤其是根据第二段中“However, some experts are asking a more fundamental question — have we been promoting physical activity all wrong?(然而,一些专家提出了一个更根本的问题——我们一直以来都在错误地推广体育活动吗?)”以及最后一段中“Given the evidence, why haven’t public health messages tailored more closely with motivations centred on enjoyment?(鉴于这些证据,为什么公共卫生信息没有更紧密地围绕以享受为中心的动机来定制呢?)” 故选A。 Looking for a job where you can make a difference? _______________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________ 【答案】 With only three days left, my pressure increased gradually. I brainstormed, then invited Jake and Lily home. Opening my grandfather’s diary, I pointed at the faded photo of his class. “Your camera can save the moment for the future,” I told Jake, whose eyes suddenly sparkled. Then I suggested he photograph every corner of the school like “time travelers”. Meanwhile, Lily was engaged in my grandfather’s love letter, eager to bring hidden stories back to life. I organized layouts, combining historical accuracy with creativity. Laughter replaced frustration as the clock ticked. On the final day, we presented our brochure in class. We stood by the blackboard as everyone went through the pages. They examined the brochure carefully, with their fingers tracing the photos, narratives and timelines which a connected three generations of graduates. Faces held surprise. Mr. Dow tapped our shining names: “This isn’t just for the anniversary—it’s about how its spirit lives through students’ cooperation.” That afternoon, seeing our brochure displayed, we knew combined talents created what none could alone. 词汇激活 行为类 ①建议:suggest/recommend ②忙于:be engaged in/be occupied with ③告诉:tell/inform ④代替:replace/take the place of 情绪类 ①渴望的:eager /thirsty ②惊讶:surprise/amazement 【点睛】【高分句型1】Opening my grandfather’s diary, I pointed at the faded photo of his class. “Your camera can save the moment for the future,”I told Jake, whose eyes suddenly sparkled.(运用了现在分词作状语和whose引导的定语从句) 【高分句型2】That afternoon, seeing our brochure displayed, we knew combined talents created what none could alone.(运用了现在分词作状语和what引导的宾语从句) 第1页/共1页 学科网(北京)股份有限公司 $
