Possible version 1
Dear Chris,
I'm glad you are excited about our school Science Festival. If you ask me, the VR Sports Zone is the best choice for you.
Here are my reasons. First, it's highly interactive. You can wear a VR headset and play virtual tennis or boxing. The motion tracking makes you feel like you are in a real game. Second, as an exchange student, you might find it easier to join because no Chinese is needed --The instructions are mostly visual. Plus, it's a great way to relax and exercise at the same time.
Enjoy the fun of VR sports!
Yours sincerely,
Li Hua
Possible version 2
Dear Chris,
I'm glad to know you are interested in our school's Science Festival. Between the two zones--VR Sports Zone and AI Poem Creation Zone, I strongly recommend the AI Poem Creation Zone.
My recommendation is based on two reasons. First, this zone perfectly combines modern AI technology with traditional Chinese culture. You just type a few keywords, and AI instantly generates a classical poem, which is both magical and educational. Second, it offers a unique cross-cultural experience. You can try typing simple English words. AI will translate and transform them into ancient- style verses. It's a fun bridge between languages and cultures.
I'm sure you will have a unique experience there. Enjoy the festival!
Yours sincerely,
Li Hua.
第二节 读后续写(满分25分)
Maya made her way down the stairs with the video camera in her hand. Her heart pounded with every step, the weight of the truth pressing against her chest. She found Ted surrounded by his cheering friends, his face glowing with triumph. “Ted,” she called softly, pulling him aside. She silently played the video. Ted watched the shuttlecock land just outside the baseline. His smile faded into disbelief. A storm brewed within him — the championship he had dreamed of for four years, the trophy within reach. His heart hammered. The cheers became a blur. Then the rule Maya had drilled into him for years echoed in his mind: Win with integrity, lose with grace. His hands trembled as he nodded slowly (93 words).
Ted knew he had to make things right before the award presentation. He turned to Maya, his eyes glistening with unshed tears. She gave him a small, trembling nod. Taking a deep breath, he took the camera and walked to the referee, his voice barely steady as he asked him to check another angle. The replay confirmed the truth. When Leo was declared champion, Ted turned to him and offered a firm handshake, his congratulations sincere despite the sting in his chest. The crowd gasped, then slow applause rippled through the gym — honoring not just a new champion, but a boy of true integrity. Watching from the edge of the court, Maya felt a quiet pride swell within her, deeper than any trophy could ever bring ( 115words).

1.
W: Tom, you haven’t been practicing the piano every day recently. Are you busy preparing for the exams?
M: Not really. I’m not concerned about the exams. I used to love playing the piano most, but now I’m crazy about playing basketball after school.
2.
W: I’m thinking of putting together a study group, I have found a math helper but I still need a note-taker. Do you know anyone?
M: Sorry, I really don’t know anyone.
3.
W: Jack, the school sports meeting is next week. Are you ready for the 100-meter race?
M: Almost. But I’m under much pressure because I haven’t trained enough these days.
4.
M: This cooking pot is broken. I can’t boil water to make soup.
W: Let’s go to the dining hall and have lunch there instead.
5.

W: I like the trip very much. I’ll go there again.
M: Bondi Beach is great because the ocean is beautiful!

W: Perfect. Let’s go to that new restaurant nearby.
【答案】8. C 9. A

M: That’s quite challenging. Do you think you can do it?
W: Well, my hearing isn’t as good as before, but I’m still energetic and my mind is still very clear.
M: There’s an evening class at the community center that teaches foreign languages.
W: That’s just what I am looking for. I’ll call them right away.

M: I know. Ms. Reed kept our class for an extra ten minutes after the bell rang.
W: What’s she teaching your class recently?
M: We’re learning about famous works of literature and their writers. I find it really hard to remember them all.
W: You think that’s confusing? You should try Ms. Lee’s class and you will find what confusion means. We’re studying chemistry experiments.
M: Science has never been easy for me. By the way — did you hear that history teacher, Mr. Wilson, is planning a class outing?
W: Yeah! We’re going to the cinema to watch a movie this afternoon.
M: He’s such a nice teacher. Last year, he took his class to a concert because everyone got a B or higher.

W: Not good! Actually I was planning to go home over spring break, but the travel agent told me all the airlines are fully booked.
M: Why not go by car?
W: It’s too long a trip to take by myself, and gas is so expensive.
M: Have you checked the ride board? Maybe you can get a rider to go with you.
W: The ride board? What’s that?
M: It’s a notice board that has a map of the United States on it. The map is divided into different districts, and each district has a different number. Say you want to go to New England — that would be Box Number One. There are boxes for each number. You can put a white card or a blue card in one of the boxes.
W: What’s the difference between a blue card and a white one?
M: Blue means you have a car and need riders to share the driving. White means that you’re looking for a ride.
W: Sounds good. So where is the ride board?
M: It’s on the second floor of the Student Union building, right by the cinema of the college.

Now I’d like to talk about Ms. Emily Clark. She is a respected volunteer in our community. She first received the Green Leaf Award for her endless efforts in environmental protection. She organized hundreds of cleaning events in the neighborhood parks. Later, she was given the Blue Sky Award for her work in helping elderly people living alone. Today we are going to present her with the Bright Sun Award. Though Emily will move to another city soon and we will miss her very much, her spirit will always encourage us. Now, let’s warmly welcome Emily Clark!

In the creative industry, fears about AI's potential to take over human jobs have been widespread, with
many professionals expressing anxiety about the technology's growing influence. When it comes to
James Cameron,the Oscar-winning director behind hits like Avatar,Titanic,and Terminator,people
might naturally assume he shares such worries-after all,in his famous Terminator films,AI is

portrayed as a threatening force that seeks to wipe out humanity.Yet forty years after those films hit the
big screen,Cameron has taken a surprising turn:he has made it clear that his decision to work with the
technology comes from a deeper belief about its role in the future of film.
When it comes to movie production, there are generally two distinct categories of effects.Special
effects refer to practical,on-set techniques, such as real explosions, car crashes and other physical
elements created during filming.By contrast, visual effects focus on digital and computer-generated work,
including motion capture and digital editing. While artificial intelligence is unlikely to have a great
impact on practical special effects,it is expected to greatly shape the development of visual effects in the
film industry. In the near future, directors may film a real actor, and then digitally adjust nearly everything
in the scene, from the background environment and the actor's voice to their facial appearance.
This trend may lead to a decrease in job opportunities for technical workers.Further, more concerns

An international team of researchers has genetically modified a probiotic yeast called
Saccharomyces boulardii to make it safer for the elderly and people in poor health. This yeast is widely
used to protect and improve gut()health,but it has been reported to cause serious bloodstream
infections in people with weak bodies, babies and the elderly."We wondered whether it was possible to
genetically modify this yeast to make it safer for sensitive patients,"said Alexandra Imre, the first author
of the study.
In the study, researchers tested different kinds of yeast collected from commercial probiotic products
and patient samples, including two who had suffered infections caused by the yeast. They infected weak
mice with these different kinds and studied their harmful effects. They also examined how the yeast acted
under difficult living conditions, especially in environments with high levels of salt.Imre explained,"The
kinds of yeast that were most harmful in our mouse study were also those that could best survive high-salt

environments."
The team then centered on two key genes,ENAl and NHAl,which help the yeast subsist under
high-salt stress. They removed these genes and repeated the experiments.Deleting the NHAl gene
produced little effect, but removing ENAl greatly reduced the harm of the yeast."Before deleting ENAl,
mice infected with the most harmful yeast had a survival rate of only 30-40%,"Imre noted."After editing,
the survival rate rose to 100%in our six-day experiment."
Further tests proved the modified yeast still kept its probiotic functions."It could stop the growth of
harmful bacteria and live well in the gut just like common probiotic,"added Nathan Crook,co-author of
the paper.
The study clearly shows the close connection between salt stress tolerance and the harmfulness of the
yeast.Though more research is needed to fully explain the biological rules behind it,the findings offer
new hope for developing safe probiotic treatments for patients who cannot use traditional probiotics.
32.Why did the researchers genetically modify the yeast?
A.To increase its growth speed.
B.To make it safer for weak patients.
C.To discover new types of probiotics.
D.To help it resist high-salt environments.
33.What is proved by the mouse experiments?
A.Salt-tolerant yeast is more harmful.
B.Commercial yeast causes no infections.
C.Salt can reduce the yeast's harmfulness.
D.All yeast acts the same in high-salt conditions.
34.What does the underlined word "subsist"in paragraph 3 probably mean?
A.Store energy.
B.Change genes.
C.Keep alive.
D.Fight illnesses.
35.What does paragraph 4 mainly convey to us?
A.Salt stress kills harmful bacteria rapidly
B.The genes affect the yeast's growth speed.
C.High salt levels limit the growth of the yeast.
D.The modified yeast still works as a probiotic.

Listen to the way you talk about your own life on a daily basis.I am not talking about your formal
presentations;I am talking about your casual, throwaway complaints."My luck is absolutely terrible.""I
cannot handle this anymore."You think you are just complaining to your fiiends or to yourself.36
You think acting like a pessimistic loser protects you from disappointment.37
And your
brain does not understand self-deprecating ()and it does not know when you are just joking.Your
subconscious mind is a perfectly obedient(servant. It listens to every single word that comes out
of your mouth. Then it treats it as a direct command, and immediately searches for evidence to prove you
right. You keep complaining"I am completely stuck."38 It stops looking for the exit because
you have already announced that there isn't one.
39 Instead of saying "I am dying of stress",they say "I am operating at high capacity."They
never ask,"Why is this happening to me?"They ask,"What is this trying to teach me?"This subtle
linguistic anchor is not just cheap self-help phrases. It is a fundamental reshape of your mindset. It shifts
your identity from a passive victim to an active creator.
It is time to be serious about what you say.40 Stop using your own mouth to curse (i)

Maya knew today was a huge day for her younger brother Ted.Ever since he entered high school,he
had dreamed of winning the school's badminton championship, but it always stayed just out of reach.
This was his last chance-his senior year, his final tournament. And against all odds,he had fought his
way to the final match.
In fact,no one in the world understood better than Maya what this moment meant to Ted.After all.
she was the one who had put a racket in his hands six years ago.She had been the team's star player until
a wrist injury ended her own dreams, but she turned all her training into his.On the driveway of their
home, she drilled him on footwork, drop shots, and the most important rule of all:"Win with integrity,
lose with grace.”
On the day of the final,Maya took her place on the second-floor balcony, video camera ready. She
wanted to capture every moment for Ted-a lasting memory at the championship. From up there, the
angle was perfect. She could see the entire court better than anyone on the floor.
The match was electric.Ted and his opponent,a kid named Leo from other class, were evenly
matched. At 20-20,the next point would decide everything.Leo served hard.Ted smashed down the line.
The shuttlecock(landed-just barely outside the baseline.Maya saw it clearly from above:the
white feathers just brushed the floor a centimeter out.But the referee ()standing at court level, was
blocked by the net. From his angle, the shuttlecock looked like it had landed in."In!"he called."Game
point,Ted."
The crowd erupted.Ted threw his racket into the air, tears streaming down his face as teammates
lifted him onto their shoulders. He had finally done it.He was the champion.
But Maya stood frozen at the railing, her heart sinking. She pulled out her camera and replayed the
video.Once.Twice.Three times. Each replay confirmed what she already knew:the shuttlecock was out.
The championship did not belong to her brother.

(1)续写词数应为150个左右;
(2)请按如下格式在答题卡的相应位置作答。
Maya made her way down the stairs with the video camera in hand
