The year 2025 was special for China’s world of maths. It’s all because of one great woman — Wang Hong.
Wang was born in 1991 in Guilin. Her parents were both middle school teachers. She showed an unusual talent for maths at an early age. When she was just five years old, she already finished first-grade maths and went to second grade directly.
Some people think talent makes life easy. But Wang’s path was far from smooth. In middle school, her grades were not good at first — she was not in the top 100. But she didn’t give up. With great passion for maths, she worked harder, and later became one of the top ten students in her grade. At the age of sixteen, she entered Peking University and learned more about maths.
In 2011, Wang went to France to study. “I felt a little lost at that time,” the girl said. “I gave up on maths and studied architecture for six months. Then I remembered how hard I had learned maths before. I only doubted myself because my classmates were all very smart.” Wang became confident again and returned to maths. She studied even harder and got her PhD at MIT.
In 2025, Wang did something really amazing. She solved a century-old maths problem — the Kakeya conjecture (卡凯亚猜想). Mathematicians all over the world were so surprised and excited! Now, Wang is a professor at two great universities.

In early February 2026, ByteDance (字节跳动) launched its newest AI video model, Seedance 2.0. This amazing technology soon drew attention from all over the world. People praise it for its strong abilities, and it has become one of the most talked-about tech topics this year.
What makes Seedance 2.0 so special? Well, it can make both videos and matching sounds at the same time, and the results are very natural. Its biggest Seedance 2.0. advantage is multi-lens (多视角) storytelling. If you give it a short text or just one picture, it can create connected scenes. What’s more, it keeps the characters, lighting and style the same throughout the video. The model also supports 2K resolution (分辨率) and can take different kinds of inputs, which makes making videos much easier and faster.
When we compare Seedance 2.0 with other similar technologies like OpenAI’s Sora, it does much better in both speed and video quality. Industry experts say it is a useful tool for creators, not something that will take their place. It helps many fields develop, such as media, short plays and digital content creation.
But Seedance 2.0’s launch also caused big ethical debates right away. A serious worry appeared when tests showed that this model could make real-looking videos — even with matching voices — just from a photo. This made people worry a lot about identity theft (身份盗用) and privacy (隐私) problems. Because of this, ByteDance quickly stopped using this special function. Besides these ethical problems, the technology still has some technical issues. For example, sometimes the movements in the videos are not natural.
Seedance 2.0 is an important step forward in AI video development. It shows how fast the AI video field is developing and how China is becoming more important in global AI innovation. At the same time, it makes us think about a very important question: how can we use such powerful technology safely and responsibly?
8. What is the passage mainly about?
A. The disadvantages of AI video models.
B. Ways to create AI videos safely.
C. An introduction to Seedance 2.0 and its influences.
D. The competition between ByteDance and OpenAI.
9. What is the biggest strength of Seedance 2.0?
A. It has no technical or ethical problems.
B. It is cheaper than other AI video models.
C. It can completely replace human creators.
D. It can produce videos with matching sounds and consistent scenes.
10. What does the underlined word “ethical” mean in the passage?
A. about what is right or wrong morally
B. about new technology and machines
C. about making money and business
D. about art and beauty
11. What can we infer from the last paragraph?
A. China is playing a more important role in global AI innovation.
B. AI video development has stopped because of ethical problems.
C. Seedance 2.0 is the final step of AI video technology.
D. Powerful AI technology no longer needs strict rules.
【答案】8. C 9. D 10. A 11. A

A new study, published in the Proceedings of the National Academy of Sciences, concludes that proper reductions in beef production, particularly in wealthier nations, could significantly slow down climate change by allowing forests to regrow on former grasslands.
The study used remote sensing technology to map grassland productivity and estimate benefits of reducing beef production, finding that restoring all potentially forested grasslands globally could store 445 gigatons (千兆吨) of CO2 by 2100 — equal to amount of fossil fuel emissions (排放) over a decade.
“We can achieve enormous climate benefits with proper changes to the total global beef production,” says Matthew N. Hayek, an assistant professor in New York University’s environmental studies department. “By focusing on regions with potentially high carbon sequestration (隔离) in forests, some restoration strategies could maximize climate benefits while minimizing changes to food supplies.”
The team see high and upper-middle-income countries as possible candidates for forest restoration, where grass grows only during a short growing season. These regions, such as parts of North America and Europe, have some current grasslands that do not produce very much grass per acre, and thus have potential to grow thick forests able to absorb a lot of carbon. In contrast, lower-income regions like sub-Saharan Africa and South America, where much more grass can grow year-round, can contribute to balancing reduced production elsewhere.
Matthew acknowledged that reforestation cannot replace cutting down on fossil fuel pollution, but works together with it to help fight climate change. “In many places, this regrowth could occur naturally without any human involvement. However, in some places, with especially damaged environments or soils, native and diverse tree-planting could give regrowth a helping hand,” says Matthew.
Although the findings do not call for extreme changes to global food production, the team emphasizes that immediate action is essential to meet climate goals. Targeted policies are called for to prioritize forest recovery in high-impact areas — for instance, by offering beef producers rewards for forest land conservation or purchasing their company shares.
12. Why is “445 gigatons of CO2” mentioned in paragraph 2?
A. To clarify a specific climate goal by 2100.
B. To quantify the benefits of grassland recovery.
C. To show the difficulty of cutting fossil fuel use.
D. To highlight the role of remote sensing technology.
13. What can be learned about the grasslands in sub-Saharan Africa and South America?
A. They are ideal for reforestation.
B. They have a short growing season.
C. They are expected to feed more animals.
D. They have a low capacity for carbon absorption.
14. What policy is suggested for forest recovery?
A. Limiting beef exports. B. Increasing agricultural taxes.
C. Providing financial benefits. D. Introducing advanced technology.
15. What might be a suitable title for the text?
A. Targeted Beef Cuts Bring Climate Benefits
B. Grassland Expansion Ends Carbon Emissions
C. Global Food Production Must Decrease Significantly
D. Beef Industry Growth Promotes Environmental Health
【答案】12. B 13. C 14. C 15. A

47. 阅读下面材料,根据其内容和所给段落开头语续写两段,使之构成一篇完整的短文。
On a cold, damp evening in mid-November, a sharp wind cut through the streets, but Jack paid little attention to the chill. As a delivery rider, he had just finished a few smooth orders, his hands warm from the hot milk tea cups he’d been carrying, and his spirits fairly good. Stepping out of a milk tea shop, he found the spot where his second-hand electric bike had been parked now empty. In an instant, his heart sank, and a wave of hopelessness swept over him, turning his calm evening into a nightmare. That bike was far more than just a vehicle; it was his lifeline, the only way for him to earn daily income and cover his living expenses.
Panic set in as he remembered the undelivered orders — especially a cup of hot milk tea for Ms. White, a regular customer. His hand trembled as he pressed the voice button, his words laced with sorrow and anxiety as he apologized repeatedly, offering to pay for the undelivered drink. To his great surprise, Ms. White did not respond with anger or complaint, but with gentle kindness. Ms. White told him not to worry and to take his time finding his bike.
Her understanding words calmed him, but also deepened his sense of responsibility. “She is so kind. I cannot let her down,” he thought. For nearly two hours, he searched every nearby street, but there was no sign of his bike. As night grew darker and the wind bit harder, Jack clenched his fists and made a firm decision. He took out his poor savings, bought a bag of fresh apples and a new cup of hot milk tea, then set off on foot to Ms. White’s apartment, several kilometers away. The wind bit into his thin jacket, and his old shoes grew heavy with mud, but the thought of keeping his promise and maintaining his integrity kept him moving forward through the dimly lit urban landscape.
注意:
1.续写词数应为150个左右;
2.请按如下格式在答题卡的相应位置作答。

____________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________
【答案】One possible version:
Finally, breathless, Jack reached Ms. White’s doorstep and rang the bell. The door opened, revealing a woman whose expression shifted from curiosity to surprise and then to heartfelt sympathy as she saw the exhausted man before her. His clothes were dusty, but the gifts in his hands were held with care. “Ms. White, these are for you,” he grinned, offering the apples and milk tea. “Wishing you happiness and good health. I am truly sorry about the delay.” Tears welled up in Ms. White’s eyes. “Oh, Jack! You shouldn’t have walked such a long way just for this!” she said, her voice soft with emotion for his unshakable honesty, even amid his own misfortune!
Deeply moved by Jack’s action, Ms. White decided to share the story online that night. She posted a video describing what happened, writing, “Even when caught in his own storm, he still reached out to warm others.” The post quickly went viral, receiving millions of likes and shares. Strangers were touched by the ordinary man’s extraordinary act. The wave of kindness soon reached his delivery company. They promptly responded, providing Jack with a brand-new e-bike and a cash reward to support his honest work. Even more wonderfully, with the help of numerous alert eyes online, his original bike was located and returned.

With talent, hard work, and passion, Wang Hong is living a future bigger than her dreams.
4. According to the first two paragraphs, what did Wang Hong do at the age of five?
A. She taught herself English.
B. She finished first-grade maths.
C. She became one of the top 10 students.
D. She was interested in music and art.
5. Which of the following words best describes Wang Hong according to the passage?
A. Cautious and quiet. B. Careless and impatient.
C. Humorous and easy-going. D. Determined and hard-working.
6. What surprised mathematicians all over the world in 2025?
A. Wang Hong worked hard and got her PhD at MIT.
B. Wang Hong settled a century-old maths problem.
C. Wang Hong entered Peking University at sixteen.
D. Wang Hong became a professor at universities.
7. What can we learn from the passage?
A. Only smart people have the ability to study maths.
B. It is best to give up when things become difficult.
C. Talent, hard work and passion make people great.
D. It is important to begin studying at an early age.

注意:
1.续写词数应为150个左右;
2.请按如下格式在答题卡的相应位置作答。
Finally, breathless, Jack reached Ms. White’s doorstep and rang the bell.
