一、学情分析
八年级学生已具备一定的英语阅读基础,能够理解简单的记叙文和说明文。他们对体育话题有较高的兴趣,尤其是女排精神作为国家荣誉的象征,容易引发情感共鸣。但学生在长难句理解、细节信息提取和深层含义分析方面仍需引导,同时需要通过多样化的活动调动学习积极性,将语言学习与情感体验相结合。
二、教材分析
本单元以“The value of money”(金钱的价值)为主题,围绕货币的历史、文化内涵以及理性消费展开。该主题契合课标中“人与自我”范畴下的“货币常识,理财意识,理性消费,信用维护”子主题。通过采用六课渐进式结构,引导学生从货币的历史入手,了解货币的价值本源、社会功用与客观局限,掌握理性消费技巧、树立科学理财观念,同时感悟货币背后的文化内涵,最终促进学生树立正确的金钱观,增强勤俭节约与责任担当意识,实现财商教育与英语教育的跨学科融合。
本单元以金钱为核心,从认知到实践层层深入,涵盖不同学习载体,如马旭捐款事迹、金钱价值探讨、艾玛购物经历、理财测试等,同时深入了解金钱承载的文化内涵,如货币发展历史、理性消费的价值观念、无私奉献的家国情怀等,旨在增强学生对金钱价值与社会意义的认知与感悟,提升其英语综合运用能力与财商文化感知力。单元围绕关键问题“How should we view and manage money wisely?”展开。
三、教学目标
Students will be able to master the key vocabulary:budget, save, spend, necessary, unnecessary, afford, goal, donate, manage; understand and use the core sentence patterns: "We should...", "It is important to...", "I plan to... because...". Students will also be able to understand the main content of the text about reasonable money management.
Students can cultivate the awareness of rational consumption and good habit of saving money; they can understand the importance of setting financial goals and helping others through donation; they can establish a correct view of money in daily life.

Steps:
1.Show pictures of different items (e.g., a new phone, a book, a charity donation, a trip) and ask students: "What do you think these cost?"
2.Introduce the topic by asking: "Have you ever dreamed of having a lot of money?
The teacher asks: "Which student do you think does better? Why?" Guide students to think about how to use money properly, and then introduce today's topic: "Today we will learn Lesson 5Managing Your Money, and learn how to manage our pocket money well."
