As an athlete, I thought mastering the guitar would be easy with enough discipline. But it wasn’t just about physical discipline. It tested my patience, strategy, and a different kind of mental commitment. I tried to play complex pieces before mastering the basics. It was a struggle, but I learned to respect the process. Soon my first public performance arrived. I thought I would be very nervous, but strangely, I wasn’t. I played without missing a beat. The applause and cheers were truly amazing. Every struggle, every wrong note was worth it in that moment. In conclusion, I want to remind you that taking on any new skill requires more than just physical strength; it demands respect for the process and the courage to keep pushing forward. Thank you.

My father, then an income tax officer, began studying law in the last decade of his service. It was extremely difficult for him to manage work, take care of his family and study for law — a three-year course — for which he would attend college in the evenings and take regular exams, at the same time. His colleagues would discourage him with the logic,“Why do you need this? As a government employee, you will receive a life-long pension (退休金).” Others would say,“If you make it, you know there’s no advantage; but if you fail, you become the laughing stock in the department.” Unswerving (坚定的), he kept at it.
And so, the law exams posed no challenge for him. Neither did the bar exam that followed. After retiring, he immediately took up work at a law firm specializing in income tax. From here, he retired after 25 years of distinguished service at the age of 84. In this second career, he held a unique record of not having lost a single case there.
His contribution hit me only a couple of years ago when I’d accompanied him to an ex-colleague’s son’s wedding. All his past clients were there. They crowded around my 85-year-old father as though he was a film star! They were pleading with him to return or at least to take up their cases part-time from home. This was the perfect example of “brand aura(气质)” that Harvard professors would theorize about in their lectures.
That is the power of knowledge. And there’s no age limit to acquiring it. All you need is to be devoted and sincere in your pursuit of it. I’m sharing this so that each one of you can feel as inspired as I have been. Gather the courage to learn and keep growing. It will always give you the best returns over time.
24. Why does the author mention his father’s colleagues’ words?
A. To show his father’s legal potential.
B. To explain his father’s brief hesitation.
C. To highlight his father’s determination.
D. To prove his father’s desire for fortune.
25. What was special about the father’s second career in law?
A. He achieved a perfect win record.
B. He became a Harvard professor.
C. He worked with many colleagues.
D. He earned large amounts of money.
26. What does the underlined phrase “pleading with” mean in paragraph 3?
A. Promising firmly. B. Inviting sincerely.
C. Allowing politely. D. Reminding gently.
27. What lesson can we learn from the text?
A. A“brand aura” helps gain popularity and trust.
B. People should never be satisfied with stable jobs.
C. Old-age career change is possible for tax officers.
D. Knowledge has power and learning has no age limit.
【答案】24. C 25. A 26. B 27. D

Argentina is planning to send solar-powered robots out to clean its dirty harbors, and if this plan works, the power-driven robots may make a big reduction in the country’s plastic pollution problem. These robots can clean surface waste down to about 16 inches deep — just right to collect plastic bags, bottles, and microplastics that pollute waterways. They will soon be tested in ports, rivers, and lagoons.
If you’re familiar with home robot vacuums, you’ll grasp the basic idea of this new solar robot. Juan Luis Rosendo, a researcher from LEICI, explains that these robots can move in challenging, ever-changing environments like ports and rivers. Their smart control system helps them handle waves and currents. Solar panels on top recharge the batteries even while the robot is working.
This technology comes at just the right time. Plastic pollution is a big problem for most countries, but it’s hit Argentina hard. Studies show that nearly 300 species, including endangered ones, are known to have been affected by plastics. 96% of the green turtles treated at the Mundo Marino rescue center had swallowed plastic. Microplastics have even been found in fish, shrimp, and mussels along Argentina’s coast.
Last month, these solar-powered robots did the first trial, working non-stop day and night thanks to on-board solar recharging. They completed a one-month cleanup mission in a remote offshore coral reef area of Argentina, collecting 8 tons of “ghost nets” that trap and harm countless marine creatures annually.
“With our robots, what we set out to do is to give our planet some long-awaited maintenance. To date, the outcomes of this cleanup have been far more encouraging than we expected, and we’re eager to expand this effort to more waterways across Argentina.” Juan Luis Rosendo said.
28. What are the solar- powered robots expected to do?
A. To study underwater sea creatures. B. To clean up the polluted waterways.
C. To help fishermen catch more fish. D. To provide energy for remote areas.
29. Why does the author say the robots comes at just the right time?
A. Argentina has many harbors and ports. B. Solar panels have become much cheaper.
C. Robotic vacuums are no longer popular. D. Plastic pollution is more and more severe.
30. What can be inferred about the robots in the first trial?
A. They turned out largely effective. B. They could work longer hours.
C. They cleared some experts’ doubt. D. They did harm to sea creatures.
31. How does Juan Luis Rosendo feel about future of the robots?
A. Confident. B. Profitable. C. Concerned. D. Doubtful.
【答案】28. B 29. D 30. A 31. A

What if a startup’s first team member was an AI agent, not a human? This question led Microsoft and NYU Stern’s Tech MBA program to a special project. Thirty students formed six startup teams, using Microsoft 365 Copilot (with the latest AI agent features) to rethink work — starting with AI from day one. Their goal: break old workflows, build “Frontier Firms,” and explore human-AI cooperation.
Frontier Firms aren’t just AI users — they’re built around AI. From the start, AI agents integrate into every aspect of the company, reshaping work processes, decision-making methods, and team structures to enhance human-AI partnership. The results were eye-opening. Top teams didn’t just use AI for tasks — they let it spark ideas: designing org charts, refining pitch decks, and creating sample business models. This revealed a new work style: AI as an active, growing team member.
The project had two phases. First, students used Copilot to simulate starting a startup — assigning roles, writing plans, and testing workflows. Then, they imagined how “AI-first” Frontier Firms might work, drawing blueprints for AI-powered organizations. Starting fresh helped: no old rules held them back.
Students found AI quickly became their “first hire,” taking on key roles like strategist or analyst. One team even let AI design an org chart by analyzing resumes. AI handled tasks like planning market strategies, writing job descriptions, and building financial models. This let human members take on more roles without stress and tackle work outside their expertise — speeding up progress from idea to action.
This project shows AI can be more than a tool — it can be a teammate or even a co-founder. It’s not a future dream, but a present reality reshaping work. To adapt, leaders need a new mindset: see AI as a partner, not just an aid.
32. What was the main goal of the special project?
A. To compare AI and human work efficiency.
B. To train students on using Microsoft 365 Copilot.
C. To experiment on the teamwork of humans and AI.
D. To help students learn about the latest AI version.
33. What role did the leading teams give AI?
A. Rare tool. B. Silent clerk. C. Final judge. D. Idea partner.
34. How did AI most help students move from idea to action?
A. Issuing grand visions. B. Boosting team spirits.
C. Running rapid analyses. D. Arranging team meet-ups.
35. Which of the following can be a suitable title for the text?
A. AI Agent Becomes the Startup’s First Hire
B. Put AI on the Founding Team from Day One
C. Argue for Human-only Leadership in a Team
D. Researchers Ask Who Really Runs a New-build Firm
【答案】32. C 33. D 34. C 35. B

How to Build Good Study Habits
Developing good study habits is essential for academic success. It not only helps you learn more effectively but also reduces stress during exams. Here are some practical tips to get you started:
1. Set a fixed study schedule
Our brains work best when we follow a routine. ____36____ For example, you could study math from 7:00 to 8:30 every evening and English in the morning. Stick to your schedule as much as possible, even on weekends.
2. Create a comfortable study space
Find a quiet, well-lit area where you can focus without distractions. ____37____ Make sure your study space has all the supplies you need, such as books, notebooks, and stationery. Avoid studying in bed or on the couch, as these places are associated with relaxation.
3. Break tasks into smaller pieces
Large assignments or study goals can feel overwhelming. ____38____ Instead of trying to finish an entire textbook chapter in one sitting, split it into sections and deal with one at a time. This will make your tasks more manageable and help you stay motivated.
4. Take regular breaks
Studying for hours without stopping can lead to fatigue (疲劳) and reduced concentration. ____39____ During your break, stretch, drink water, or take a short walk — avoid using your phone or watching TV, as these activities can make it harder to get back to studying.
5. Review and reflect regularly
Learning doesn’t end when you finish studying. ____40____ Review your notes within 24 hours of learning new materials, and reflect on what you’ve learned. This will help strengthen the information in your memory and identify areas where you need more practice.
With continuous effort, these habits will become second nature and help you achieve your academic goals.
A. Regular review is key to a long-term memory of knowledge.
B. It’s important to take short breaks every 45-60 minutes.
C. This helps your brain get into “study mode” at the right time.
D. Many students struggle with maintaining focus during study sessions.
E. Breaking them down into smaller, specific tasks makes a big difference.
F. A cluttered (杂乱的) environment can make it hard to concentrate.

第二节(满分25分)
67. 阅读下面材料,根据其内容和所给段落开头语续写两段,使之构成一篇完整的短文。
We sometimes take our loved ones’ concern for granted and show our worst mood to the family. During my growth, an experience in senior high school stood out in my memory.
As a taxi driver, my dad drove through chaotic streets with heavy traffic. Sometimes he had to deal with rude passengers and struggle with thin income. Despite these, he never complained. Dad was devoted to our family and cared much about us. The sunflower keychain I had given him as a Father’s Day gift in fifth grade had long lost its shine. Yet he had it attached to his leather belt everywhere he went. Every day, he simply headed out early in his worn-out uniform with two patches (补丁) and returned late with a tired but warm smile. When we joked about his “fashionable patches”, he’d laugh and say, “These are my medals of honor!”
As I entered senior high school, my world became overwhelming. Math problems danced in my head. My grades didn’t improve but even declined. School pressures skyrocketed. Even small things would set me off. Dad’s daily “How’s school today?” felt like another weight on my back. I was mean to his inquiries, even though I knew he meant well.
One day after a frustrating exam, I returned home, my backpack strap (肩带) cutting into my shoulder. Dad was calculating the taxi bills then. “Hey,” he said, with a smile on his face, “How is …”
“STOP IT!” The words exploded out of me. “You’re always in my business! Can’t you just...leave me ALONE?”
He froze. The pen he was holding rolled off the table. His face fell, as if I’d thrown cold water on him. Then he stood up slowly and walked to his room. The door shut softly—not a slam (砰地关上), just a quiet click—that somehow hurt me worse.
注意:
1.续写词数应为150左右;
2.请按如下格式在答题卡的相应位置作答。
I was shocked myself and my eyes fell on the keychain, my mind racing.
____________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________
I knocked at the door and it opened.
____________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________
【答案】Paragraph 1
I was shocked myself and my eyes fell on the keychain, my mind racing. The faded sunflower, once golden and bright, now mirrored Dad’s silent sacrifices. Memories flooded in: him skipping meals to pay for my textbooks, his cracked hands gripping the steering wheel, and the way he proudly called his patches “medals.” My outburst replayed in my head, sharp and ugly. Guilt gnawed at me as I realized his questions weren’t prying—they were his lifeline to my world. The quiet click of the door echoed louder than any argument.
Paragraph 2
I knocked at the door and it opened. Dad sat on the edge of his bed, the sunflower keychain trembling in his hands. “I… I’m sorry,” I choked out. He looked up, eyes weary but soft. “I just wanted to know you’re okay,” he murmured. Tears blurred my vision as I hugged him, his patched uniform rough against my cheek. “Your medals are real,” I whispered. He laughed, a warm sound that melted the tension. From then on, his “How’s school?” became a bridge, not a burden.

A. Confident. B. Profitable. C. Concerned. D. Doubtful.

G. You should also ask your teachers for feedback on your progress.

第二节(满分25分)
注意:
1.续写词数应为150左右;
2.请按如下格式在答题卡的相应位置作答。
I was shocked myself and my eyes fell on the keychain, my mind racing.
