Through group discussions on money-managing ways and budget-making, students can fluently express their ideas in English.
When comparing the three characters' coin-using methods, students can analyze and judge, developing critical thinking, like discussing “Why is Mary also a winner though she didn't save coins directly? ”.
In group work, students learn to cooperate, listen to others' opinions, and jointly complete the budget table, enhancing cooperative learning ability.

Read the story and talk about its main idea.
Mary and her cousins would go every month for a big family meal at their grandparents' house. Their grandfather often gave them a few coins, saying, "You can buy yourself something.” None of them saved their money. They spent it all. The grandparents, aunts, uncles, and parents thought this was not good---the children would never learn to manage their pocket money. So they decided to have a test. They wanted to see what the children could get with the coins within a year.
Tom, the smallest kid, spent all his money on sweets.
Read the story and talk about its
