Did you hear about “Survival Holidays”? “Survival Holidays” is for children to go into the lonely place for exciting activities. Now about 1,100 companies are asked to only take children into the great outdoors.
The reason why people like “Survival Holidays” is that they think being close to nature is.good for children. Many children in big cities spend much time watching TV and playing computer games. “Survival Holidays” gives them an important change.
Is “Survival Holidays” a wonderful idea? Maybe it is. Children need more free time to play. Parents leave them on their own without disturbing. Parents care too much about their children. They like to see their children being busy with activities that are controlled(控制) by them, but children don’t know what to do when they are in danger. Even something like crossing a small river seems to be a hard challenge. Children are not comfortable with danger. Even small danger like getting their feet wet or falling down seems very terrible to them.
Many people think the survival activities are good for children. Even years later, they will still remember what they have learnt. Some have learnt to stay calm in different times. Some have learnt how to keep safe. Others have learnt how to work in a team. All these skills will help them a lot in their lives.
( ) 44. What is “Survival Holidays” for?
A. For parents to learn outdoor skills.
B For children to watch TV and play computer games.
C. For companies to make money from the outdoors activities.
D. For children to take part in exciting activities in some lonely places.

A. helping B troubling C. watching D. teaching
( ) 46. What can we infer (推断) about children in big cities from the passage?
A.They have many chances to go into lonely places.
B. They spend less time on TV than children in the countryside.
C. They may not know how to deal with something that happens suddenly.
D. They are less interested in outdoor activities than children in the countryside.
( ) 47. What is the best title for this passage?
A. the danger of Survival Holidays B. How to Plan a Survival Holiday

Can you imagine a sea of sand three times bigger than India? This is the Sahara Desert, the largest desert in the world. It covers 11 countries in North Africa and over 9 million square kilometers — more than 25% of Africa.
In the Sahara, temperatures change greatly from day to night. It is much hotter during the day (up to 33℃ between 2 p.m. and 4 p.m.) but very cold at night (as low as -1℃ at 4 a.m.). The desert is very dry, with only about 70 mm of rain a year. Because of the extreme temperatures, it is very hard to survive. Here are some tips from survival expert(专家) Marco Rivera.
Take warm clothes and a blanket(毛毯). At night, wear a hat, long trousers and a woollen coat. During the day, cover your body, head and face to protect yourself from the sun and save water. A blanket is also needed at night because it can get cold very quickly.
A car is easier to see than a person. Use the mirrors from your car to make planes and other cars notice you. You can also use your car tyres (轮胎) to make a fire. A fire helps people find you and keeps you warm at night.
Drink water at least once every hour, but only what you need. When you talk, you lose water. Keep your mouth closed and do not talk. Eating makes you thirsty, so eat very little and very slowly. You can live for three weeks without food, but only three days without water.
Stay out of the sun during the day. Dig a hole under your car and lie there to keep cool. At night, sleep near a tree or a rock to stay warm. But be careful — dangerous animals like snakes and scorpions(蛇砂蝎子) also like these places. Look carefully before you lie down.
( ) 48. Why does the writer describe the temperatures and rainfall in the Sahara in Paragraph 2?
A. To tell readers how large the desert is. B. To show that nights are colder than days.
C. To give advice on when to travel there. D. To explain why the desert is difficult to live in.
( ) 49af it is 3 p.m. and you have no food or water left, which would be the safest?
A. Sleep near a tree until the temperature drops.
B. Make a fire with your tyres and shout for help.
C. Lie under your car and try not to move or talk.
D. Try to find some food and walk to find a river.
( ) 50. Marco Rivera suggests that we should in the Sahara Desert.
A. walk but not drive a car
B. keep talking to make others notice us
C. eat lots of food and drink much water
D. cover our body, face and head with clothes in the day
( ) 51. How is the passage organized?
D
Li Wei, a 13-year-old student in Shanghai, used to love writing poems. He would spend hours finding the right words to describe a rainy afternoon or the way his grandmother smiled. But things have changed. “Now I just tell the AI what I want, and it gives me a poem in ten seconds,” Li Wei says. “The poems are actually really good. Sometimes I can’t even tell if they were written by a human or a machine.”
This story is not unusual. A 2026 survey found that over 80% of Chinese middle school students have used AI tools for creative tasks like writing stories, making posters, or composing music. For many of them, AI is simply a more efficient(有效的) way to complete schoolwork. “Why spend two hours writing when AI can do it in one minute?” says Zhang Ming, another student from Beijing. “Teachers only care about the final grade anyway.”
But some researchers(研究者) are starting to ask uncomfortable questions: If we let machines do all the creative work, what happens to our own creativity? Dr. Chen, a psychologist(心理学家) at Beijing Normal University, explains: “Creativity is not something you are born with——it is like a muscle(肌肉). You have to exercise it. When students skip(跳过) the messy, difficult process(过程) of creating, they are not just saving time — they are giving up a chance to grow.”
Dr. Chen’s opinion is shared by many, but not everyone agrees. “AI is just a tool, like a paintbrush or a piano,” argues Wu Xia, a technology teacher. “A good paintbrush doesn’t make you an artist, and a bad one doesn’t stop you from being one. The question is not whether(是否) students use AI, but how they use it.” She believes AI can actually help creativity by allowing students to try out many different ideas quickly before choosing the best one.
So the real question may not be “Is AI good or bad?” but rather: When does AI become a shortcut(捷径) that hurts our thinking, and when is it a tool that helps us think more deeply? Finding that line is something we all need to learn.
( ) 52. In Paragraph 2, the word “story” refers to .
A. a poem written by AI B. Dr. Chen’s research
C. a survey about middle school students D. Li Wei’s example of using AI for writing
( ) 53. Which of the following is the BEST way to exercise the “muscle” according to Dr. Chen?
A. Writing a poem on your own and trying to rewrite it for several times.
B. Reading 20 well-known poems carefully and choosing the best one to follow.
C. Discussing with friends which type of poems gets the highest grades in exams.
D. Telling AI to create 50 poems on the same topic and picking the most touching one.
( ) 54. Wu Xia’s view and Dr. Chen’s view differ(不同于) mainly m .
A. whether creativity is something people are born with
B. whether AI can help students become more creative
C. how much time students should spend on creative tasks
D. whether students should be allowed to use any tools for schoolwork
( ) 55. What is the main idea of the passage?
A. AI is good for our studies.
B. Teachers only care about final grades.
C. AI helps students finish homework faster.
D. Whether AI helps or hurts creativity depends on how we use it.

Alice grew very tan. Her head hit the ceiling(天花板). She could not go through the small door to the beautiful garden. She sat down and cried. She cried and cried until she was lying in a large pool of tears(眼泪). The salt water reached her chin.
Suddenly, the White Rabbit ran toward her. He was wearing white gloves and carrying a fan. “Oh, the Duchess will be so angry!” he said. “I am late!” Alice tried to ask for help, but the rabbit ran away quickly. He dropped his gloves and the fan.
Alice picked up the fan. As she waved it, she began to shrink(缩小). She became smaller and smaller. Soon she was only 25 centimetres tall. She dropped the fan just in time, or she would have disappeared(消失) completely. But now she was so tiny that she almost drowned(淹没) in her own tears.
Alice swam around the pool, looking for a way out. She saw a Mouse swimming nearby. “Excuse me, Mouse,” she said politely. “Do you know the way out of this pool?” The Mouse only looked at her with its small eyes and said nothing.
Alice thought the Mouse might not understand English. She tried to speak French. She remembered
only one sentence from her textbook: “Ou est ma chatte?” (Where is my cat?) The Mouse jumped up in fear(害怕) and began swimming away quickly.
“Oh, I am so sorry!” Alice cried. “I forgot that mice are afraid of cats.” She tried to explain that her cat Dinah was very kind and loved to chase mice, but that only made the Mouse more frightened. Finally, Alice promised not to talk about cats or dogs. The Mouse slowly swam back and said, “Follow me to the shore. I will tell you my story.”
Alice followed the Mouse. When they got to the shore, many other wet animals were already there. Everyone wanted to get dry.

An Unforgettable Outdoor Trip
There was an unforgettable outdoor trip I ever had. Last spring, I went to a mountain park with my classmates. The park was full of green trees and colorful flowers, and the air was fresh and sweet.
We went hiking along a winding path. On the way, I saw a clear stream running through the woods, and some small fish swimming happily in it. But halfway up the mountain, I felt so tired that I wanted to give up. My classmates encouraged me, and I kept going step by step.
When we reached the top, I saw the whole park below. It was like a beautiful painting. I learned that if I keep trying, I can overcome any difficulty. This trip taught me the meaning of persistence.
