一、学情分析

八年级学生已具备一定的英语阅读基础，能够理解简单的记叙文和说明文。他们对体育话题有较高的兴趣，尤其是女排精神作为国家荣誉的象征，容易引发情感共鸣。但学生在长难句理解、细节信息提取和深层含义分析方面仍需引导，同时需要通过多样化的活动调动学习积极性，将语言学习与情感体验相结合。

二、教材分析

本单元以“The value of money”(金钱的价值)为主题，围绕货币的历史、文化内涵以及理性消费展开。该主题契合课标中“人与自我”范畴下的“货币常识，理财意识，理性消费，信用维护”子主题。通过采用六课渐进式结构，引导学生从货币的历史入手，了解货币的价值本源、社会功用与客观局限，掌握理性消费技巧、树立科学理财观念，同时感悟货币背后的文化内涵，最终促进学生树立正确的金钱观，增强勤俭节约与责任担当意识，实现财商教育与英语教育的跨学科融合。

本单元以金钱为核心，从认知到实践层层深入，涵盖不同学习载体，如马旭捐款事迹、金钱价值探讨、艾玛购物经历、理财测试等，同时深入了解金钱承载的文化内涵，如货币发展历史、理性消费的价值观念、无私奉献的家国情怀等，旨在增强学生对金钱价值与社会意义的认知与感悟，提升其英语综合运用能力与财商文化感知力。单元围绕关键问题“How should we view and manage money wisely?”展开。

三、教学目标

Students will be able to understand and distinguish between the concepts of "needs" and "wants".

Students will master key vocabulary: need, want, necessary, luxury, survive, afford, value, priority.

Students will learn sentence patterns: "I need... because...", "I want... but...", "Something is a need/want because..."

Cultivate students' awareness of rational consumption and financial responsibility.

Develop students' ability to appreciate the value of basic needs and distinguish between essential and non-essential items.
