专题06 任务型阅读--回答问题 主题01 人与社会--科学技术 Passage 1 (24-25八年级下·山东青岛市崂山区·期末) AI is used every day for business, education, and for finding common information. But sometimes AI may provide information that isn’t real—something known as an “AI hallucination (幻觉)”. AI hallucinations are just strange. For example, Satyen once asked ChatGPT to tell him the world record for crossing the English Channel “on foot”—something that’s impossible to do. But ChatGPT replied that the record was set in 2020, with a time of 14 minutes and 51 minutes. However, some AI hallucinations can cause some real problems. In 2023, two lawyers (律师) in New York were fined $5,000 because they used AI to write a report, which had fake cases (案件) that never happened. They had used ChatGPT for research, and didn’t check whether the cases it listed were real. So why does this happen? Two students of information science explain that AI is made by feeding computers with quite a lot of information. The computers then study this information to find patterns (模式). How the AI answers questions depends on those patterns. When it doesn’t have an answer or fails to know what to do, it will try to fill in the information from similar conditions, even if the resulting answer isn’t real or true. AI can be helpful for research, especially when you’re looking for ideas on where to start learning about a topic. However, it’s important to fact-check what it tells you. For example, ask where the information came from, or check the information yourself using trusted sources (来源). But in the end, it’s always important that we humans use our critical (批判性的) thinking skills, and don’t just believe that AI is always telling us the truth! 根据短文内容回答问题 1.What is an AI hallucination? 2.How did Satyen get the world record for crossing the English Channel “on foot”? 3.Why did the writer give the example of two lawyers’ use of AI? 4.From which sentence can we see the importance of patterns? 5.How can you stay away from mistakes when you use AI? 【答案】1.An AI hallucination is when AI provides information that isn’t real. 2.Satyen got the world record by asking ChatGPT. 3.To show that AI hallucinations can cause real problems. 4.How the AI answers questions depends on those patterns. 5.By fact-checking information with trusted sources and using critical thinking skills. 【导语】本文是一篇说明文,主要讲述了AI幻觉现象及其潜在问题,并解释了其成因和应对方法。 【详解】1.根据“But sometimes AI may provide information that isn’t real—something known as an ‘AI hallucination (幻觉)’.”可推知,AI幻觉是指AI提供不真实的信息。故填An AI hallucination is when AI provides information that isn’t real. 1.根据“Satyen once asked ChatGPT to tell him the world record for crossing the English Channel ‘on foot’—something that’s impossible to do. The Chinese government has started a three-year “Weight Management Year” program to solve the weight problem. Being overweight and being obese (肥胖的) have become serious problems in China. According to a report, about 10.4 percent of children under the age of six in China are overweight, while nearly 20 percent of Chinese people between the ages of 6 and 17 are overweight or obese. Doctors use BMI (BMI=weight/height2) to quickly check if a person is underweight, normal, overweight, or obese. For adults, a healthy BMI ranges (范围从……到……) from 18.5 to 23.9. A BMI between 24 and 27.9 is considered overweight, and a BMI of 28 or higher shows obesity. Also, doctors advise people to measure their waist (测量腰围): men should keep it under 90 cm, and women under 85 cm. To make the program go well, schools have organized activities like running, rope skipping and other exercise training. In the community, doctors have helped people with weight problems. They give them good ideas on what to eat and how to exercise. The government hopes that families can join in. Parents can cook healthy meals at home. For people who don’t have enough time or money to go to classes, it’s an excellent choice. With e-learning, people have the chance to study in their own time and sometimes for free. They don’t need to sit in the traditional classroom, because they can take classes online. They can hand in their homework through the Internet. E-learning also allows students to learn something new even while they are having classes at school or doing their work. However, some people think learning at a traditional school is more fun, because the teacher is “live”. Students can talk with their teachers and ask them questions. To take online courses, one also needs to have good IT skills. But not everyone has them, especially for some old people who can’t use computers. Next, in traditional learning, there is a timetable (课程表) students have to follow. This makes study easier for those who can’t plan their own time well. Passage 2 (24-25八年级下·山东临沂市罗庄区·期末) I’m Kangkang. For this report I have interviewed (采访) my grandmother about the life in Beijing. She has lived here for over 60 years and has seen a lot of changes. Back in the 1960s, things were difficult. The roads were narrow (狭窄的) and there weren’t many ring roads. Families lived in small houses, and people were very close to each other. Almost all children could go to school but they did not have a lot of books to read. People could go to see a doctor, and the medicines were very cheap but there were not many good medicines back then. People kept in touch with their friends and family members far away mainly by letter or telegram (电报). China has developed rapidly since the reform and opening-up (改革开放). More and more ring roads and subways have appeared and buildings in Beijing are becoming taller and brighter. People’s living conditions have improved a lot. And there are more kinds of food and clothes to satisfy people’s needs. Children can study not only in modern schools but also on the internet. People can enjoy good medical care. What’s more, communications are becoming easier and quicker — people can use telephones, cellphones, fax machines (传真机) and the internet. At the end of our conversation, I asked him, “As a writer, you must enjoy writing, right?” “Not always,” he said. He thought for a moment and added, “I enjoy writing when it gives me a sense of pride.” “You know,” Alex went on, “some articles are harder to write than others. Sometimes, I’m not sure if you and the readers will like my article. I try to write as well as I can. When I finally look at my work, I feel good about myself.” Alex’s answer made me think of a trip ten years ago. My friends and I were halfway up Mount Hua after a short bus ride. It was a rainy day, and the mountain is famous for its steepness (陡峭). As we looked up at its peaks, some of us thought of giving up. “You’ll feel sorry about your decision,” our guide said as he encouraged us to keep going. Soon, we arrived at “Yaozi Fanshen (鹞子翻身)” It’s the most famous and challenging attraction on East Peak. We climbed the almost vertical (垂直的) rock face by pulling at the iron chains (铁链). It tired us out. But when we looked back, we felt proud. We finally climbed three peaks of Mount Hua that day. In some places, we even took the steeper way. We found that the more difficult the climb was, the more pride we felt. Some mountains now provide tourists with an easier way up—a ride on an escalator. But just as it is in writing, for some things in our lives, the harder way brings better rewards. 1.What does Alex do? 2.What was the weather like when the author and his friends climbed Mount Hua ten years ago? 3.How did the author and his friends feel after climbing “Yaozi Fanshen?” 4.How many peaks of Mount Hua did the author and his friends climb in the end? 5.Why does the author think that writing is similar to climbing mountains? 【答案】1.A writer. 2.It was rainy. 3.They felt tired but proud. 4.Three. 5.Because in both activities, the harder way can bring better rewards. 【导语】本文主要讲述了作者与作家朋友Alex关于写作的对话,以及作者回忆十年前与朋友一起攀登华山的经历,传达了面对困难时的自豪感和成就感。 1.根据文中“One day last month, I was talking to our staff writer Alex about writing.”及下文中“At the end of our conversation, I asked him, ‘As a writer, you must enjoy writing, right?’”可知,Alex是一名作家。故填A writer. 2.根据文中“It was a rainy day, and the mountain is famous for its steepness.”可知,作者和朋友在十年前爬华山那天天气是雨天。故填It was rainy. 3.根据文中“It tired us out. Candy told me that she used to be really shy and took up singing to deal with her shyness. As she got better, she dared to sing in front of her class, and then for the whole school. Now she’s not shy anymore and loves singing in front of crowds. I asked Candy how life was different after she became famous. She explained that there are many good things, like being able to travel and meet new people all the time. “I didn’t use to be popular in school, but now I get tons of attention everywhere I go.” However, too much attention can also be a bad thing. “I always have to worry about how I appear to others, and I have to be very careful about what I say or do. And I don’t have much private time anymore. Hanging out with friends is almost impossible for me now because there are always guards around me.” What does Candy have to say to all those young people who want to become famous? “Well,” she begins slowly, “you have to be prepared to give up your normal life. Only a very small number of people make it to the top.” 1.What is the interview in this month’s Young World magazine mainly about? 2.And what can we learn from Candy?(每个问题答案不超过 20 个单词) Passage 2 (24-25八年级下·山东淄博市周村区·期末) People are always changing. Reduce the time you spend on them now!A recent survey found that: Most children between 6 and 12 years old spend more than 6 hours using tablets a day. This figure is 2 hours longer than the amount of time most adults spend. Many children started using tablets from 3 years old. Spending long hours on tablets may cause: · poor eyesight     · poor posture     · muscle ache on one’s neck    · pain in fingers Experts recommend (建议) that for every 20 continuous minutes spent using tablets, you should take a 5 minutes’ break. What’s more, students can also get together in study groups to help each other with their work in traditional learning. The discussions among students and between students and teachers are the one main advantage (优点) traditional learning has over online learning. Which one is better? It depends on you. You should know yourself well before choosing either traditional learning or e-learning. Some questions you may need to ask yourself are: Am I good at self-study? Do I enjoy working online? Do I have good IT skills? Do I need a “live” teacher? Making a right choice will help you succeed. 1.What is “e-learning”? 2.Who needs e-learning? 3.If a student can’t plan time well, which way is better for him, traditional learning or e-learning? 4.Please give a title (标题). 5.Will you choose traditional learning or e-learning? The “ugly” ones are often thrown away. These fruits and vegetables may have cuts or unusual shapes. However, some supermarkets and stores in China are trying to change this. Freshippo, a big supermarket in China, is leading the way. They sell “ugly” vegetables at a lower price, usually 30% to 50% cheaper than the perfect ones. To make these vegetables look more fun, they made cute characters, like a smiling tomato and a dancing carrot. Since June last year, this idea has helped reduce food waste by up to 4 tons a week. Besides Freshippo, supermarkets and stores in Nanjing have also started selling “ugly” fruits and vegetables, including apples, peppers and potatoes. Food waste is a big problem. Each year, 1,050 million tons of food are wasted around the world. This waste causes pollution. A study in 2021 showed that from 2014 to 2018, about 27% of the food made in China was not eaten every year. The government is working hard to reduce food waste and make sure everyone has enough food to eat. By selling “ugly” fruits and vegetables, supermarkets and stores help reduce waste and protect the environment. And by choosing “ugly” fruits and vegetables, we help save food and protect the Earth. Next time you see an “ugly” vegetable, remember that it tastes just as good as the perfect ones! 1.What problem are some supermarkets and stores in China trying to solve? 2.How did Freshippo make “ugly” vegetables more popular? 3.What’s the result of Freshippo’s idea? 4.What are the two advantages (好处) of buying “ugly” fruits and vegetables? ① ② 主题04 人与社会--中华文化 Passage 1 (24-25八年级下·山东临沂市兰陵县·期末) ①Journey to the West was “hot” again last year. The Chinese video game Black Myth: Wukong made the classic story Journey to the West popular around the world in 2024. In fact, people around the world have loved the story of the monkey Sun Wukong (Monkey King) for a long time. ②Arthur Waley, a British sinologist (汉学家) brought the story to many English people in the 1940s. Later, Japan showed Sun Wukong to the world through a TV show Saiyuki in the 1970s and 80s. And many more works followed. ③But what makes this story so popular around the world? People everywhere can understand Sun Wukong, who breaks the rules of Heaven and tries to get free from the great Buddha’s control (如来佛祖的掌控). As the writer Li Tianfei told China Daily, the experience of Sun Wukong and his friends is more than a Chinese classical story. “In my heart, Journey to the West is about growing up and being free,” Li said. ④Sun Wukong’s journey is a lot like the stories of heroes in Western cultures, such as Spiderman from modern Western stories. These stories show heroes who might make mistakes but become better over time, just like today’s superheroes. What’s more, before Superheroes appeared, Sun Wukong knew that beings (生物) with power (力量) should help others. ⑤Sun Wukong’s story never gets old because everyone can understand it. His story shows us about being brave and doing the right things—things all people understand and love to see. This is why people all over the world like to create new stories about Sun Wukong. Now, through games, books and TV, young people still love the Monkey King. After all, everyone loves a hero who isn’t afraid to fight for what’s right! 1.When did the video game Black Myth: Wukong get popular? 2.Who helped many English people learn about Journey to the West in the 1940s? 3.What is Journey to the West about according to Li Tianfei? 4.Why does Sun Wukong’s story never get old? 5.Do you like Sun Wukong? Why or why not? Passage 2 (24-25八年级下·山东枣庄市市中区·期末) According to a survey, Chinese people’s reading habits haven’t changed over the past several years. The survey says only about 59% of the people in China read paper books. A large number of people don’t read. It is partly because there aren’t enough public (公共的) libraries. China has about 3,300 public libraries, while the US has more than 16,000 public libraries. In order to encourage people to read more, Shenzhen government has done a lot. In November every year, Shenzhen welcomes its Reading Month. There are more than 2,500 reading activities for this month, including book sales, music performances and online and offline speeches by experts. In 2012, Shenzhen created the first government-led “reading promoter (阅读推广人)” training program in China. Many people become reading promoters to encourage more people to read. Shenzhen has held Reading Month since 2000. Many famous writers took part in the Reading Month activities. Yu Guangzhong was invited in 2007, Mo Yan in 2017, and Deng Yiguang in 2024. Reading has become an important cultural and spiritual symbol of Shenzhen. On October 21, 2013, Shenzhen was named “Global Reading Model City”. Shenzhen is the only city in the world to get this name. Shenzhen has built itself into an exemplary (典范的) city to promote books and reading across the world. 1.How many people in China read books now according to the survey? 2.When is the Reading Month of Shenzhen? 3.Why do many people become reading promoters? 4.What was Shenzhen named on October 21, 2013? 5.Do you like reading? In July, 2024, the “Beijing Central Axis: A Building Ensemble Exhibiting the Ideal Order of the Chinese Capital (北京中轴线—中国理想都城秩序的杰作)” was added to the UNESCO World Heritage List, becoming China’s 59th World Heritage Site. The Beijing Central Axis has a group of buildings and historical sites (历史遗迹) that shape Beijing’s old city. Running 7.8 kilometers from north to south in central Beijing, this area includes 15 key parts, such as the Bell and Drum Towers in the north and Yongdingmen Gate in the south. The building of the Beijing Central Axis began in the 13th century and took shape in the 16th century. According to Lyu Zhou, director of the National Heritage Center at Tsinghua University, this idea of city planning dates back (追溯到) to the Kaogongji (《考工记》), written before 221 BC. This book explains how to plan a capital city. The Beijing Central Axis shows traditional Chinese ideas of “zhong (中)” and “he (和)”. For example, the royal palace was placed at the center, with other important buildings placed around it to create a sense of harmony (和谐感). “ Beijing’s unique (独一无二的) and great order is created. by this central axis,” said Liang Sicheng (1901-1972), a famous Chinese architect (建筑师). 回答下面5个问题,每题答案不超过6个词。 1.When was Beijing Central Axis added to the UNESCO World Heritage List? 2.How long is the Beijing Central Axis? 3.Where does the idea of the capital city planning come from? 4.Why were other important buildings placed around the royal palace ? 5.What do you think of Beijing Central Axis? Beijing has made rapid progress and it has already succeeded in hosting the 2008 Olympic Games. I think it is important to remember the past, live in the present and dream about the future. 1.How long has Kangkang’s grandmother lived in Beijing? 2.What does the report say about Beijing’s education in the 1960s? 3.How did people communicate with friends far away in the 1960s? 4.What changes have happened in medical care in Beijing since the 1960s? 5.① Describe Kangkang’s feeling about the changes in Beijing using one or two adjectives (形容词). ② Use some words from the passage to support (支持) your answer. Passage 2 (24-25八年级下·山东德州市陵城区·期末) The Power of Determination (决心) Jack Smith came to school first every morning to start the fire in a stove (炉子) so that the classroom was warm before his teachers and classmates arrived. One morning, the school caught fire. Jack seriously hurt his legs and he was taken to a nearby hospital. When the danger passed, he overheard the doctor telling his mother that he might, never walk again. The brave boy made up his mind. He would walk. But unfortunately, his legs were so thin and lifeless that he could hardly move. After he came home from the hospital, his mother would massage (按摩) his little legs every day, but there was no feeling, no control, nothing. Yet, his determination that he would walk was as strong as ever. One sunny day, his mother wheeled him out into the yard to get some fresh air. This day, instead of sitting there, he threw himself from the chair. He pulled himself across the grass, dragging (拖) his legs behind him. He walked his way to the fence. With great effort, he raised himself up on the fence and dragged himself along, determined that he would walk. He started to do this every day until he wore a smooth path all around the yard beside the fence. There was nothing he wanted more than to develop life in those legs. Finally through his daily massages, his persistence (坚持) and his strong determination, he did develop the ability to stand up, then to walk slowly, then to walk by himself and then to run. He began to walk to school, then to run to school, to run for fun. Later in college he made the track team. 1.Did Jack start the fire in a stove to keep the classroom warm? 2.What were Jack’s legs like after the fire? 3.What would his mother do every day after Jack came home from the hospital? 4.How did Jack develop the ability to stand up, to walk and to run again? 5.What can you learn from Jack’s story? / 学科网(北京)股份有限公司 $ 专题06 任务型阅读--回答问题 主题01 人与社会--科学技术 Passage 1 【答案】1.An AI hallucination is when AI provides information that isn’t real. 2.Satyen got the world record by asking ChatGPT. 3.To show that AI hallucinations can cause real problems. 4.How the AI answers questions depends on those patterns. 5.By fact-checking information with trusted sources and using critical thinking skills.
