To her credit, the mother of the toddler(学步儿童)in the security line kept her cool despite the sweat on her brow and her reddened face.As a mom who was constantly peppered with comments from well-intentioned friends who thought they were in possession of the recipe for perfect parenthood,I was all too familiar with her situation. I might have been one of those judgmental folks before having my own children.Today I'm much more understanding.Raising children is hard, and every child and family situation is extremely unique. The reality of our hustle-culture and the lack of resources prohibits many people from being the kind of parents they would really like to be.Judgment certainly isn't helpful, only causing a feeling of shame. As is echoed in the article Reimaging Shame,Author Jan Bonhoeffer states,"Left unexamined, shame can cloud our self-view,leaving us convinced that our worth is conditional. It whispers lies:'You'll never be good enough. And when shame continues,it can lead to self abandonment. The role of motherhood is both complex and challenging,so any attack on a mother will get her loaded with shame, and shame is disempowering. The last thing women need is more disempowerment. Whoever coined the phrase,"Everyone you meet is facing an invisible battle.Be kind. was accurate. The least we can do is suspend our tendency to judge one another, replace it with a mindset of compassion, and resolve to do a better job empowering the other women in our lives through intentional action or advocacy. 1.What can be inferred from paragraph 1? A.It's easy to be an armchair critic. B.Bystanders see most of the game. C.There is no life without discipline. D.Criticism is a cornerstone to growth. 2.How does the author find her friends'comments? A.Constructive. B.Informative. C.Unworkable. D.Misleading. 3.What does Jan Bonhoeffer stress in the article? A.The core concept of shame. B.The potential impact of shame. C.The true worth of self-views. D.The complex role of motherhood. 4.What does the author suggest people do in the last paragraph? A.Being non-judgmental toward mothers. B.Maintaining a positive mindset at work. C.Empowering moms with multiple skills. D.Acting swiftly to resolve hidden conflicts. 65 实战册 实战高考·英语 Passage39(2025山东临沂一模,D) 主题:生物科学研究答案:P410 Evolution can perform spectacular changes. But some organisms like the coelacanth,a modern-day fish, seem to change very little over eras. Scientists have long wondered how these species withstand the pressures of natural selec- tion. The current theory for this“stasis paradox(停滞悖论)”is that stabilizing selection, which favors moderate features, keeps some species unchanged, unlike directional selection that causes change. However,a study published in the PNAS contradicts this idea, showing that evolution constantly favors different features in seemingly unchanging animals that improve short-term survival. In the long term, though,"all that evolution cancels out and leads to no change,"says the study's lead author,James Stroud,a biologist at the Georgia Institute. Stroud and his colleagues studied four anole lizard(变色龙蜥蜴)species,.all relatively unchanged for 20 million years, living on a small island in Florida. The researchers captured members of these populations every six months for three years. They measured each lizard's head size, leg length, mass and height,as well as the size of its sticky toe pads, noting which individuals survived.Stroud expected to observe stabilizing selection at work preserving moderate features.Instead he saw clearer evidence of directional selection:some lizards with unique features, such as stickier toes survived better in the short term. In each generation, though, the best features changed-for instance, long legs aided survival in some years and short legs in others. The direction and strength of selection swung so much that sometimes there was no clear pattern. Because the new study shows that natural selection favored extreme features from year to year rather than moderate ones, its results don't support the theory of stabilizing selection. Many new features are evolving in the short term, but they don't provide a crucial advantage over the long term.In other words, species in stasis may simply have found the best possible combination of features for lasting success in their environment. So what happens when a static()species environment changes more dramatically? To help answer this bigger question,Stroud is still making trips to Florida to follow ever more generations of the lizards. 1.What is "stasis paradox"according to the text? A.Directional selection keeps some species unchanged. B.Some species change rapidly while others remain unchanged. C.Some species seem free from the pressures of natural selection. D.Stabilizing selection prefers extreme features keeping species changed 2.What did Stroud and his colleagues do in the study of anole lizards? A.Comparing different lizard species and studying their fossils. B.Studying various features of lizards and their survival C.Measuring the survival rate of lizards every year. D.Focusing on the living conditions of lizards. 3.What did Stroud find in the study of anole lizards? A.Some features of lizards changed in a short term. B.Stabilizing selection played a key role in evolution C.Many evolved new features can offer a lasting benefit. D.Sharp environment changes caused great effects on lizards 4.Which can be a suitable title for the text? A.Stabilizing Selection:The Key to Species Stasis B.Stasis Paradox:The Traditional Theory Proven Right C.Directional Selection:The Dominant Force in Species Evolution D.Rethinking Stasis Paradox:Insights from Anole Lizard Studies 66 0专题1阅读理解 Passage40(2025山东济南一模,C) 主题:语言交流答案:P410 It's a classic complaint in relationships, especially romantic ones:"She said she was okay with me forgetting her birthday! Then why is she throwing dishes in the kitchen? Are the two things related?” The answer is YES.Communication is more than words. It's how those words are said, the tone, the order, even the choice of a particular word. It's multi-dimensional,as explored by Deirdre Wilson and Dan Sperber in Meaning and Relevance.Consider the following example: Peter got angry and Mary left;Mary left and Peter got angry.Though identical in words, their meanings differ completely. The first one may have us thinking:Wow,Peter must get angry often if Mary leaves. The second sentence suggests that Peter wants more from Mary.Same words-a totally different context. Human language is not a code ()True codes have a one-to-one relationship with meaning. One sound, one definition. This is what we see with animals.Wilson and Sperber explain that“coded communication works best when emitter(发出者)and receiver share exactly the same code."Not so for humans. We communicate more than the definitions of our words would suggest. This is inferential communication, and it means that we understand not only the words spoken, but the context in which they are spoken. Irony()is a great example of how powerfully we can communicate context with a few simple words. It is more than just stating the opposite. For example, when Mary says, after a boring party,"That was fun",she is neither saying literally that the party was fun nor saying "ironically"that the party was boring.Rather, she is expressing an emotion.Three words replace paragraphs, showcasing language's efficiency. Wilson and Sperber concluded that human language developed and became so powerful because of two unique abilities of humans:language and the power to try to interpret mental states of others. We look for context for the words we hear. And we should be very good at absorbing this context to infer meaning. 1.What does the complaint in paragraph 1 mainly indicate? A.The inconsistence between words and meaning. B.The importance of remembering vital moments. C.The necessity of straightforward communication. D.The unavoidability of argument in a couple's life. 2.What may make human language different from true codes? A.The context included in understanding meanings. B.The definitions made by words in communication. C.The coded communication between emitter and receiver. D.The one-to-one relationship between word and meaning. 3.How does Mary's statement "That was fun"illustrate about irony? A.It simplifies language to save time. B.It covers the true feelings of people. C.It needs wordy explanations to make sense. D.It uses fewer words for complex meanings. 4.What does the author suggest in communication? A.Focusing on the opposite. B.Taking language literally. C.Reading beyond the words D.Avoiding using ironic tones. 67式,即系统0。这个新的认知框架存在于人类思维之 外,作为一个外部的“思维助手”。系统0与两种已建 立的人类思维模式一起工作:快速、直觉和自动的系统 1,以及较慢、更善于分析和反思的系统2。因此,第一 段的目的是介绍一种新的认知模型—系统0。故 选B。 2D细节理解题。根据第二段中的“Hence the idea of System 0,which is essentially a form of 'external' thinking that relies on the capabilities of AI.”可知, System0的概念本质上是一种依赖于AI能力的“外 部”思维形式。因此,系统0的本质是外部认知增强 剂。故选D。 3C推理判断题。通读第四段可知,作者提到了盲目相 信系统0导致的问题,也提到了系统0的优点,即作者 的语气是客观的。故选C。 ④D推理判断题。根据最后一段中的“To ensure that AI remains a tool to enhance-rather than decrease our cognitive autonomy, clear boundaries must be established.”可知,为了确保人工智能仍然是增强而不 是降低我们认知自主性的工具,明确的界限必须被建 立。因此,接下来的段落最有可能讨论关于批判性使 用系统0的具体指南。故选D。 Passage 37 【语篇解读】本文是一篇说明文。文章主要介绍了四个 “项目式学习”的示例。 ①B细节理解题。根据第一段中的“In a growing number of schools, educators believe that having students take part by starting with practical problems is a great motivator.Project-based learning that freely crosses disciplines provides an education superior to the traditional'maths at age nine, history at ten,liter- ature at eleven’structure.”可知,在越来越多的学校 里,教育工作者认为让学生从实际问题入手参与学习 是一种很好的激励方式。以项目为基础的自由跨学科 学习提供了优于传统“9岁数学,10岁历史,11岁文 学”结构的教育。因此,“项目式学习”的特点是参与现 实世界的问题。故选B。 ②C细节理解题。根据Water Wheel Project部分 "Fifth-graders explore history, science, technology, and engineering by designing their own water wheels. By the time they visit the nearby Saugus Iron Works, O实战册参考答案及解析 which dates back to the 1640s,they've already tested and mastered the centuries-old technology.”可知,五 年级学生通过设计自己的水车来探索历史、科学、技术 和工程。当他们参观附近可追溯到17世纪40年代的 索格斯钢铁厂时,他们已经测试并掌握了这项有数百 年历史的技术。因此,该项目包含了参观历史遗址的 实地考察。故选C。 3B细节理解题。根据Bridge Project部分中的 "Students don't restrict themselves to one discipline but rather look into maths, literature, history, science-whatever is appropriate to the study.” 根据第一段中的“‘Can't that mom get a handle on her child?'That kid needs some disci- pline!'...These people seemed to suggest that these awful holiday travel circumstances should somehow be tackled with grace and ease.”可知,这些旁观者只是轻 松地发表评论,却没有考虑到实际情况的复杂性。由 此推出,当一个只会空谈的批评家很容易。故选A。 ②C推理判断题。根据第二段中的“As a mom who was constantly peppered with comments from well- intentioned friends who thought they were in posses- sion of the recipe for perfect parenthood,I was all too familiar with her situation.”可知,作为一位母亲,作者 经常受到一些好心朋友的评论,他们认为自己掌握了 完美育儿的秘决,她对安检处那位母亲的处境非常熟 悉。结合第三段中的“Raising children is hard,.and every child and family situation is extremely unique.. Judgment certainly isn't helpful, only causing a feeling of shame.”可知,作者认为养育孩子情况复杂,这种评 判是没有帮助的,只会导致羞耻感。故选C。 3B细节理解题。根据第四段中的“.·Author Jan Bonhoeffer states,'Left unexamined, shame can cloud 409 答案册 实战高考·英语 our self-view,leaving us convinced that our worth is conditional. It whispers lies:"You'll never be good enough."And when shame continues,it can lead to self abandonment.,”可知,如果不加以审视,羞耻感会 遮蔽我们的自我认知,让我们相信自己的价值是有条 件的。它悄悄说着谎言:“你永远不够好。”当羞耻感持 续下去,它可能会导致自我放弃。这段话强调的是羞 耻感对自我认知的潜在影响。故选B。 ④A细节理解题。根据最后一段中的“The least we can do is suspend our tendency to judge one another, replace it with a mindset of compassion, and resolve to do a better job empowering the other women in our lives through intentional action or advocacy.”可知,作 者建议人们至少可以做的是暂停评判他人的倾向,用 一种同情的心态取而代之,并决心通过有意识的行动 或倡导,更好地赋予生活中的其他女性力量。作者强 调了不要评判他人,尤其是女性,要给予她们同情和支 持。故选A。 根据文章第四段中的“In each generation, though, the best features changed-for instance, long legs aided survival in some years and short legs in others.”可知,在每一代中,最好的特征都 会发生变化。故选A。 第二段中的 "Communication is more than words. It's how those words are said, the tone, the order, even the choice of a particular word.”说明人类沟通不仅限于字面意思, 还包括语气、语境等。故选A。 ②A细节理解题。根据第三段中的“True codes have a one-to-one relationship with meaning. One sound, one definition. This is what we see with animals...We communicate more than the definitions of our words would suggest. This is inferential communication, and it means that we understand not only the words spoken, but the context in which they are spoken." 知,真正的编码与意义有着一一对应的关系。一种声 音,一种定义。这就是我们在动物身上看到的情况。 人类则不是这样,我们交流的内容比我们所说的单词 的定义要多,是一种推理交流,这意味着我们不仅理解 所说的单词,而且理解它们所使用的语境。故选A。 3D推理判断题。根据第四段中的“For example, when Mary says, after a boring party,'That was fun', she is neither saying literally that the party was fun nor saying 'ironically'that the party was boring. Rather, she is expressing an emotion.Three words replace paragraphs, showcasing language's efficiency.”可知,当玛丽在一个无聊的聚会后说“那 很有趣”时,她既不是说聚会真的很有趣,也不是“讽刺 地”说聚会很无聊。相反,她在表达一种情感。三个词 代替了段落,展示了语言的效率。这说明反语的特点 是“用更少的词传达复杂含义”。故选D。 ④C推理判断题。作者多次强调人类沟通需要结合语 境(context)和推理(inferential),而非字面意思。最后 一段再次强调“We look for context for the words we hear. And we should be very good at absorbing this context to infer meaning.”。作者认为我们在交流中 应该理解话语背后的意思。故选C。 Passage 41 【语篇解读】本文是一篇应用文。文章介绍了几种富有创 意的文化节活动的点子,旨在吸引各种类型的参与者。 IB细节理解题。根据A Deep Dive into Tradition部分 中的“Whether it's the exciting traditions of India, the attractive rhythms()of Brazil,or the ancient customs of Japan, focusing on one culture allows you to showcase its diverse beauty in greater depth. This approach is perfect for developing a greater under- standing and appreciation for a specific culture." 知,举办以单一文化为基础的节日的一个优势是能帮 助人们更好地理解那种文化。故选B。 2C细节理解题。根据Around the World in Bites部分 中的“Among the most popular cultural fair ideas,.an international food festival lets you transport your attendees to different corners of the globeall without leaving the venue! It's a fantastic way to showcase the diversity of cooking traditions and offer a multi-sensory cultural experience.”可知,对于美食爱好者来说, Around the World in Bites是一个很好的选择,因为它 可以让人们品尝到世界各地的美食。故选C ③A推理判断题。浏览全文,结合文章第一段主题句 "Try out the following creative cultural fair ideas, which ensure a memorable experience for attendees of all ages..”可知,本文的写作目的是提供富有创意的文 化节活动的点子。故选A。 根据画线短语下文“The wearable device may help you better manage your chronic heart condition, but wearing it could make you anxious which is bad for those conditions..”可知,可穿戴设备 一方面可能帮助人们更好地管理慢性心脏病,另一方 面佩戴它又可能让人焦虑,而焦虑对病情有害。这呈 现出了一种两难的境地。由此可知,“a catch-22 situa- tion”意思是“左右为难的处境,两难的局面”。故选A。 ④C标题归纳题。文章既讨论了可穿戴设备在健康管 理中的好处,又指出了它们可能带来的焦虑和负面影 响。因此,可穿戴设备既有积极的一面,也有消极的一 面,就像一枚有两面的硬币。故选C。 Passage 43 【语篇解读】本文是一篇说明文。一项研究发现,孤独者 的大脑对视频刺激的反应方式与其他人不同,这表明他 们可能以不同的方式感知世界。 ①B细节理解题。根据第一段“The brains of lonely individuals respond to video stimuli()in unique ways dissimilar from their peers(同龄人)..sugges- ting that lonely individuals may process the world differently, which could worsen or even lead to their loneliness.”可知,孤独者的大脑对视频刺激的反应方 式与他们的同龄人不同,这表明孤独者可能以不同的 方式处理世界,这可能会加剧甚至导致他们的孤独感。 故选B。 2A细节理解题。根据第二段中的“After going through the lengthy scans, the students subsequently completed an extensive questionnaire intended to measure how lonely they felt.”可知,在经历了漫长的 4110
