①If your arm or leg hurts, you see a doctor. But if your mind is where the pain is, what do you do? Mental health problems are actually very common, affecting about 13 percent of people aged between 10 and 19 around the world. World Mental Health(WMH) Day, October 10th, is a day to remind people to take more care of mental health problems.
②School life isn’t always easy. Exams are stressful, lessons can be hard and it’s also difficult to make good friends sometimes. If you don’t feel good at school, your diet can change how you feel. You should eat enough vegetables and fruit to make you feel well. Drink enough water too. Water makes you full of energy.
③Besides, it’s healthy to spend time with others. Find people who make you feel safe and comfortable and spend time with them. If you feel blue, talk with someone you trust. If you feel lonely, try volunteering. It’s a good way of meeting new people, and you’ll feel good about helping others.
④Most people know that exercise is good for your body, but it’s good for mental health too! Exercise can also help reduce stress and unhappiness. Why not try going for a walk in the park or countryside?
⑤So, on WMH day, you can do something that really makes you happy — such as having your favourite food or chatting with your best friend. Take some time to ask yourself — How do I feel right now? Is everything OK? How can I look after myself better? By doing so, you will know better about the importance of mental health.
29. Which of the following activities should we avoid doing on WMH day?
A. Have our favourite food. B. Chat with our best friend.
C. Go for a walk in a park. D. Keep feelings to ourselves.
30. Which of the following best shows the structure of the passage?
A. ①//②//③//④//⑤ B. ①//②③④//⑤ C. ①//②③//④//⑤ D. ①②③④//⑤

A. To describe what mental health problems are.

C. To encourage people to volunteer for mental health.
D. To give advice on how to stay mentally healthy.

My father, who was always drunk and angry, beat me more and more every day. He always locked the door when he went away and kept the key in this pocket. One day I found an old saw (锯子) that he hid in the roof. When I was alone in the house. I started to make a hole on the floor under the big table.
The next day my father said, "Huck, go to the river and catch some fish for breakfast. Quickly! And don't try anything. Remember, I'm watching you!"
While I was fishing by the river, I saw an empty boat nearby.
"A boat!" I thought happily, “This is my chance to escape. I'll hide the boat near some trees and use it tonight!"
When my father went to town that afternoon, I got my saw and started to work on the hole. It was late afternoon when I finished making the hole.
"I did a good job," I thought, looking at the hole. “Now I'll get my father's gun.”
I looked outside the window and there was nobody there. I quickly escaped through the hole. Then I ran into the woods to hunt a wild pig. Luckily, I found one. I shot it and took it back to the house and let the pig's blood fall on the wooden floor of the house. Then I pulled some of my hair out and put it on my father's axe(斧子) with some of the pig's blood. I took the pig's body outside and put it in a big bag with some rocks, and threw it into the river.
"This way people will think ▲ !" I thought. "They'll come and look for my body in the river." This idea made me smile.

Mia was a quiet girl. At school, she always sat at the back of the classroom, hoping the teacher would not call her name. It was not because she didn’t know the answers. In fact, she studied hard and got good grades. The real problem was her fear of speaking in front of others. Every time she thought about raising her hand, her heart would beat fast and her face would turn red. The words seemed to get stuck in her throat.
This fear followed her for years. She avoided class discussions and never joined any clubs. Her teachers thought she was just shy and would grow out of it. But deep inside, Mia felt unhappy with herself. She wanted to change, but she didn’t know how.
One day, her English teacher announced that every student had to give a three-minute speech. When Mia heard this, she felt sick. She spent a whole week worrying about it. But as she prepared, something unexpected happened. Her best friend Lucas offered to help her practice. Every afternoon, they sat in the empty classroom. Lucas listened patiently and gave her advice. He also taught her a simple trick: take three deep breaths before speaking and focus on one kind face in the room.
On the day of the speech, Mia’s hands were shaking. But she took three deep breaths, looked at Lucas, and began to speak. To her surprise, her voice came out clear and strong. When she finished, the whole class clapped. That moment changed everything for Mia.
From then on, Mia began to raise her hand more often. She joined the school debate club and even entered a speaking competition. She learned that courage is not the absence of fear, but the decision to move forward despite being afraid.

World Mental Health(WMH) Day, October 10th, is a day to remind people to take more care of mental health problems.

④Most people know that exercise is good for your body, but it’s good for mental health too! Exercise can also help reduce stress and unhappiness. Why not try going for a walk in the park or countryside?
