Shenfu Mountain, located in Guangdong, is an unusual natural site that shows the unique beauty and geographical features of the region. This mountain is not only a heaven for nature lovers but also a living textbook for understanding natural geography.
The mountain covers an area of about 30 square kilometers, presenting different areas of landscapes. In the central part, there are expansive plateaus (高原) that cover about 40% of the mountain’s area. These plateaus are decorated with small and clear lakes, the largest of which, Lake Qinglan, has a surface area of 0.8 square kilometers and a maximum depth of 12 meters. The southern slopes (斜坡) are covered with thick forests, accounting for 60% of the total plant area. The forest is home to over 500 plant species, including 20 rare ones protected at the provincial level.
Shenfu Mountain is the source of five major streams, which together form the Shenfu River system. This river system has a total length of about 45 kilometers and supplies water to over 10 nearby villages. The mountain experiences a warm and wet climate, with an average annual temperature of 22 ℃. It receives an average annual rainfall of 1,800 millimeters, mainly concentrated from April to September. This abundant rainfall not only sustains (维持) the local water systems but also contributes to the plants across the mountain.

Many people catch a cold in spring and autumn. There are hundreds of kinds of viruses (病毒) .You never know which one you will get, so there isn’t a cure (疗法) for each one.
When a virus attacks (攻击) your body, you may work hard to get rid of it. Blood rushes to your nose and brings congestion (充血) with it. You feel terrible because you can’t breathe well, but your body is actually “eating” the virus. Your temperature rises and you get a fever, but the heat of your body is killing the virus. You also have a runny nose to stop the virus from getting to your cells. You may feel miserable (痛苦的), but actually your body is trying to fight against the cold.
Different people have different remedies for colds. In the United States and some other countries, for example, people might eat chicken soup to feel better. Some people take hot baths and drink warm liquids (液体). Other people take the medicine to stop the fever, congestion, and runny nose.
There is one interesting thing to note—some scientists say taking the medicine when you have a cold is actually bad for you. The virus stays in you longer because your body doesn’t have a way to fight it or kill it. Bodies can do an amazing job on their own.

Nowadays, AI is becoming increasingly popular and has found its way into many parts of our daily lives. An online video maker Jiang Wei used AI technology (技术) to “talk to” the great poet (诗人) Li Bai. In his video, he asked Li Bai how he became a great poet in history. He also told Li Bai about the movie Chang An. He shared this video on the Internet and some students showed their ideas online.
Xin Chengji, a 14-year-old boy, he thinks using AI to talk with people who lived in the past is great. It gives people a way to know about the life in the past. What’s more, when talking with them, we may get some encouragement (鼓励) so that we can improve ourselves.
Zhang Meimei a 14-year-old girl, she thinks the idea may sound great, but in fact, the person we talk with through AI could never be the real person. The talk is made up! So she thinks it’s meaningless.

Teenagers are in a special stage of physical and mental (心理) development: Social nervousness is quite common among teenagers, but don’t be afraid. The things that make you nervous in social situations can become good points. 36
Thoughts are not facts. Teenagers with social anxiety (焦虑) usually think that bad things will surely come. 37 Just because you’re scared something bad will happen doesn’t mean it will. For example, a teen might be afraid of asking teachers simple questions, but teachers are glad to help.
38 We find that teens with social anxiety often pay too much attention to themselves. This can cause problems. Try to look at others instead. You can start by listening to what they say and joining in their activities.
Discover your advantages. Teenagers with social anxiety have their own strong points. They may be very kind-hearted and can have great talks about the things they are interested in, though unaware For example, a quiet teen who loves painting can share ideas actively when talking about it. 39
Master self-encouragement. Teenagers with social anxiety often feel bad about themselves. When that happens, they should learn to encourage themselves. 40 It can also help you to feel better and more confident.

42.B回答“Sure, I’ll do it at once.” “Could/Can you (please) + 动词原形”是用于礼貌请求的常用结构,“make the bed”是“整理床铺”的固定表达。故填Could/Can you (please) make your/the bed。
过去进行时的结构是“was/were + 现在分词”,主语是“they”,所以用“were”,“wait for the bus”是“等公交车”。故填They were waiting for the bus (at this time yesterday)。
How long has she worked in the/this hospital。
“by + 动名词”用于表示方式、手段,“learn/study English”是“学英语”,“work/learn/study with a group/his friends”体现和他人一起学习的方式。故填He learns/studies English by working/learning/studying with a group/his friends。

61.Possible version 1:
Dear David,
Very glad to share one of my social practice activities with you.
On July 9th, 2024, I helped in an after-school program. After we arrived, we took out some story books and began to read some interesting traditional Chinese stories with the kids. It was great to help them know more about our traditional culture. Then we helped kids learn to sing some simple English songs. They were very excited and sang loudly. Finally, we played some fun games. We all had a good time.
It was a busy and tiring day, but I got such a strong feeling of satisfaction when I saw the look of joy on the children’s faces. What about you? Have you had any interesting experiences to share with me?
Looking forward to your reply.
