A
On a misty February morning in 2025, retired police officer and part-time farmer Ramesan and his wife, Padmam, made their way across their plot of land in a small town in southern India, where they had joined relatives to harvest black pepper. Soon, Ramesan, a fit 64-year-old, was climbing at up a Mexican lilac tree very close to the family well to pick peppers from vines winding around its trunk, while Padmam, 56, worked nearby.
Then a sharp sound pierced the quiet morning. The branch beneath Ramesan cracked, and he lost his balance. He fell into the 40-foot well below, striking his head and back against the wall on the way down.
Padmam heard the crash and terrifying splash, rushed to the well, and called out. His faint voice echoed back — he was alive. She lowered a plastic rope, but he cried, “I can’t. I’m too weak, and my leg is hurt.” Padmam acted fast: she grabbed the well’s rope, tied one end to a nearby tree, told a relative to call the fire department, and tied the other end around her waist to go down.
The moss-covered wall was slippery (滑的). Her feet slid, and the rope cut her palms bloody. Midway down, she lost her grip, and fell down into the waist-high cold water. She felt around blindly and found the unconscious Ramesan, lifting him to keep his head above water. She felt his faint breath and whispered, “I am with you. I won’t let you go.”
Ramesan slowly opened his eyes. Together, they waited.
Soon, firefighters arrived and lowered a rescue basket. Padmam helped Ramesan into it, watching as he was lifted to safety, and then followed. Surprisingly, neither had major injuries. That misty morning became a lasting reminder: Love that fierce will descend into darkness — only to rise again.

C.She went down by rope. D.She pulled him with hands.
58.What is Padmam like?

C.Quiet and patient. D.Brave and quick-minded.
59.What can we learn from the passage?

With the rapid development of urbanization (城市化) and digital technology, people’s lives have become more connected online than ever before. Yet for many, the face-to-face bond with next-door neighbors has faded away. A recent national survey shows that over 60% of urban residents cannot name their immediate neighbors, and nearly half have never had a face-to-face talk with people living next door. Against this background, neighborhood sharing initiatives (社区共享举措) have sprung up in cities across China, causing a heated public debate.
Supporters argue that these programs rebuild the lost sense of community in modern cities. Unlike the superficial social media interactions, neighborhood sharing creates real, warm connections between people who live close by. From sharing idle tools and second-hand books to providing temporary childcare for busy parents or daily check-ins for elderly residents living alone, these small acts not only make daily life more convenient and affordable, but also build a mutual support system that improves community safety. Many long-term participants say they finally feel a real sense of belonging in the neighborhood they have lived in for years.
However, critics hold a totally different opinion. They warn that neighborhood sharing brings unavoidable risks. First, it may threaten people’s privacy (隐私), as sharing activities often require people to open up their personal lives or home spaces to relative strangers. There are also potential responsibility disputes (纠纷): if a borrowed tool breaks, or a child gets hurt while being taken care of by a neighbor, it is hard to define who should bear the responsibility. What’s more, with heavy work and study pressure, most young people have little extra time and energy to take part in these activities, making the programs hard to sustain in the long run.
Despite the arguments, experts point out that the value of neighborhood sharing lies in its flexibility and respect for personal boundaries (边界). The goal is not to force people to become close friends with their neighbors, but to build a low-threshold, rule-based support network. For example, setting up a public sharing corner in the community, or running an anonymous (匿名的) online group for help requests, can balance human connection and personal space. As many sociologists note, a harmonious neighborhood is not just a place to live, but the basic unit of social resilience (社会韧性) in a fast-changing world.
63.What is the main purpose of the first paragraph?
A.To praise the harmony of traditional neighborhoods.
B.To show the disadvantages of digital technology.
C.To introduce the topic of neighborhood sharing.
D.To explain the results of a national survey.
64.Which is an advantage of neighborhood sharing according to supporters?
A.It reduces the burden on community workers.
B.It replaces social media interactions completely.
C.It encourages people to move to new communities.
D.It helps people save money on daily expenses.
65.What is one worry of the critics about neighborhood sharing?
A.It may cause arguments over responsibilities.
B.It wastes too much public space in the community.
C.It makes young people more stressed at work.
D.It leads to frequent conflicts between neighbors.
66.What is the best title for the text?
A.How to Build a Harmonious Community?
B.Is Neighborhood Sharing Valuable?
C.The Lost Bond Between Neighbors
D.New Technology Changes Our Lives
Section C

Why Male and Female Friendships Are So Different?
While I was out to dinner with my husband, he told me that our mutual friends of 20 years had decided to end their marriage. I wanted to know the details: the why, the when, the where, but he did not have these details. When I pressed for answers, he said his friend brought it up briefly with a group of close guy friends, then moved on to a different subject. 67 This specific example paints the perfect pictures of the differences between men and women in terms of friendships.
Female friendships thrive on intimacy and emotional connection. We, as females, want to talk about feelings, experience physical touch, make direct face-to-face contact. 68
The intimate, face-to-face relationships between women have a lot to do with oxytocin (催产素), the bonding hormone that is released during childbirth and nursing. Studies have shown that when women are stressed out, they do not just turn to the “fight-or-flight” response but also release oxytocin, which allows them to “tend and befriend.” It is believed that the hormone is the reason why women have a natural “maternal instinct (母性).” 69
By comparison, men tend to value friendships that are based more on shared activities, such as playing basketball, rather than the intimate, face-to-face relationships that women have. Thus, they do not feel the desire or need to discuss every detail and change in their life with a male friend.
That being said, male friendships are generally less delicate than female friendships. Men tend not to wear their emotions on their sleeve. 70 But women bond through secret sharing and emotional intimacy, which can potentially create unpredictability in a friendship, especially if this sharing is one-sided.
A.In short, we want to feel emotionally connected and supported.
B.Not many questions were asked; not many details were given.
C.Friendships between males tend to be more functional.
D.While they may not share their secret feelings with close male friends, research shows that they are more likely to share them with a female friend.
E.Nor do they feel pressure to reveal personal details and intimate secrets to maintain their friendship with another male.
F.As a result, female friendships are based on emotional intimacy and connection.
IV.Summary Writing (共10分)
71.Directions: Read the following three passages. Summarize the main idea and the main point(s) of the passage in no more than 60 words. Use your own words as far as possible.
Do you share too much online?
It’s good to share, right? Growing up as kids, we are told to share our toys and not to be selfish. We also live in an age when discussing our feelings is encouraged. But with new crazes trending all the time, such as dance challenges and wearing a pillow as a dress, the question is: when can sharing become oversharing on social media?
Oversharing has become connected with social media, but isn’t exclusive to this platform. Imagine you head to a party and meet someone. Within five minutes they have given away intimate details about their life. While some of us may try to escape these people, according to marriage therapist Carolyn Cole, this form of oversharing could come from a strong desire to get close to someone. Besides, a painful developmental story lies behind the behaviour. People share too much because they have been too lonely. But they fail to understand the risks resulting from it.
Dr Christopher Hand, a lecturer in cyberpsychology, says the more details people disclose, the less sympathy we express when things go wrong. This could be due to a belief that more negative experiences will be attracted if shared more. It seems that “sadfishing”, the idea of seeking sympathy by oversharing, is generally perceived as negative rather than the cry for help it could actually be.
However, Dr Hand’s research also seems to suggest that the more we post online, the more socially attractive we become on condition that the posts we share are positive. Even back in 2015, Gwendolyn Seidman PhD, said we should avoid complaining too much and being negative online. We should also avoid showing off. especially about our love lives. It makes sense — if your date is going “that well”, would you really have time to share a photo with text?
So, how can you know if you are oversharing? Well, why not ask your friends in real life? They would probably be more than happy to tell you if your posts about your breakfast or your gripes about your lack of money really are too much.

II.Grammar and Vocabulary (每题1分;共20分)
Section A
阅读下面短文,在空白处填入1个适当的单词或括号内单词的正确形式。
Ocean exploration is often called the “last frontier” on Earth. While space exploration 21 (attract) global attention for decades, more than 80% of the ocean floor remains unexplored — a 22 (strike) fact, considering that oceans cover over 70% of our planet’s surface.
The deep sea presents extreme challenges: freezing temperatures, complete darkness, and overwhelming pressure. While faced 23 these difficulties, scientists have developed advanced equipment capable of resisting conditions that would have been unimaginable a generation ago. Among their most exciting 24 (discovery) are strange creatures that produce their own light through bioluminescence (生物发光).
China has been 25 (active) involved in deep-sea exploration. The manned submersible (潜水器) Jiaolong, 26 (name) after a mythical sea dragon, successfully reached the Mariana Trench in 2012. 27 (follow) this achievement, the Fendouzhe submersible set a national diving record of 10,909 meters in 2020, 28 accomplishment that placed China among the few nations to access the deepest parts of the ocean.
Protecting the ocean’s health is as urgent as exploring it. That is precisely 29 the UN has declared 2021 — 2030 as the Decade of Ocean Science for Sustainable Development. Scientists remain confident that continued exploration will lead to breakthroughs in medicine and climate science — provided that such efforts are carried out 30 (protect) the delicate ecosystems below.

A
On a misty February morning in 2025, retired police officer and part-time farmer Ramesan and his wife, Padmam, made their way across their plot of land in a small town in southern India, where they had joined relatives to harvest black pepper.

C
【答案】63.C 64.D 65.A 66.B
【导语】文章主要讲述了在城市化与数字技术发展背景下,社区共享举措引发公众热议及其利弊分析。
【详解】63.推理判断题。根据第一段中“Against this background, neighborhood sharing initiatives (社区共享举措) have sprung up in cities across China, causing a heated public debate.(在这种背景下,社区共享举措在中国各大城市兴起,引发了公众的热烈讨论。)”可知,第一段的主要目的是引出社区共享这个话题。
64.细节理解题。根据第二段中“From sharing idle tools and second-hand books to providing temporary childcare for busy parents or daily check-ins for elderly residents living alone, these small acts not only make daily life more convenient and affordable, but also build a mutual support system that improves community safety.(从分享闲置工具和二手书,到为忙碌的父母提供临时托儿服务,或者为独居老人提供日常探访,这些小举动不仅让日常生活更加便利和经济实惠,还建立了一个互助系统,提高了社区的安全性。)”可知,根据支持者的说法,社区共享的优势是帮助人们在日常开支上省钱。
65.细节理解题。根据第三段中“There are also potential responsibility disputes (纠纷): if a borrowed tool breaks, or a child gets hurt while being taken care of by a neighbor, it is hard to define who should bear the responsibility.(还存在潜在的责任纠纷:如果借来的工具坏了,或者孩子在邻居照顾时受伤,很难确定谁应该承担责任。)”可知,批评者担心社区共享可能会引起责任方面的争论。
66.主旨大意题。通读全文,尤其是根据第一段中“Against this background, neighborhood sharing initiatives (社区共享举措) have sprung up in cities across China, causing a heated public debate.(在这种背景下,社区共享举措在中国各大城市兴起,引发了公众的热烈讨论。)”以及后文分别阐述了支持者和批评者的观点,可知文章主要讨论的是社区共享是否有价值。因此“社区共享有价值吗?”是最佳标题。
Section C
Directions: Complete the following passage by using the sentences in the box Each sentence can only be used once. Note that there are two sentences more than you need.

【答案】 Oversharing occurs not only on social media but also in real life, stemming from people’s loneliness and their desire to bond with others. Excessive personal disclosure usually fails to gain people’s sympathy. Nevertheless, while active and positive online posts can boost one’s social attractiveness, your real-life friends can help you judge whether your online sharing behavior counts as oversharing.
